Upgrade error, please help me?

Hi !
I have a problem with upgrading ROM. When I am
upgrading the error message is appeared " Error
Serial/USB port....." something like that. But the
device starts to upgrade with progress bar, and it
does not start yet just appear the upgrade message.
After error message the Program A shutdown itself
without restart to upgrade again. I don't know what to
do? And I unplug it from its cradle and try to
softreset and hardreset. I hope that it will be back
to my windows, but it still shows the upgrade message
and progress bar. And after 2 or 3 hours the screen
become black and white horizontal zebra. How can I
restore to my pocket pc 2002?

You have to use SD card with a card reader/writer to load the ROM nbf file on the card .. the chances are good that you didn't loose the boot loader

It mean my XDA doesn't die yet. I've read this forum for a few days and I found the advice for rescue my XDA, and you show me the key so I'm very happy. The program is XDArit v1.02, and I have MMC 256MB but I didn't buy a Card reader yet. I'm not sure that MMC can do. The instruction in that topic is not clear for me, so would you mind if I need some details for doing this from you.

I didn't use MMC card for ROM flashing before, so I can't confirm it works.
Use XDAtools instead if XDRit. Cope the .nbf file to the SD card then go to the boot loader (soft reset while holding power)

spv m650 without USB connexion

Hi all,
I have a spv m650 Orange with an Usb witch doesn't work. I connect my phone on my Pc, the spv is in charge but the icone of active sync is never green.
with my Cruise all is Ok.
I try to upgrade the spv with the sd cards but the bootloader anwers "Invalid certificate".
I think that it's normal because I have a SPL 1.84.
I would like know if I can change my SPL with my sd card?
If no, I would like found a rom witch work with this SPL.
when I use the ARTEIMG from orange (update 4_07) I don't have this message, the SPV displayed read sd card but nothing else.
Know, my SPV stay only on the first screen with the Version dysplayed:
IPL 1.84.0001
SPL 1.84.0000
GSM 02.67.90
os 1.84.0.0
and this I do a hard reset ,it's same.
if someone could help me, it will be nice.

For your M650, you have the a Orange ROM (probably 03-2007), you must :
-USPL before new upgrade (without Orange)
You must have a SD-CARD in FAT32 and a rom file (name ARTEIMG.nbh)
For AS, do you reset your phone, and reboot your PC ?
I had this problem with a M650, the usb connector was HS (the pins move)

Yes, my sd card is in fat 32.
and when I try to upgrade with the bootloader, the SPV read well my SD because it can detect the good or bad certificate.
I already reboot a lot of time the PC and the PPC.
I agree with you that this is a problem on the usb Connector.
but I would find the original orange Rom with a good certificate just for go after the first screen.

then the SPV displaying "reading from Sd" under a bargraph witch filling very quickly.
after 5 minutes "reading second OS from SD!"
and after 10 minutes "SD FAT Update failed !!!" I like the "!!!" on the screen...
but my card is in fat 32.
if I try with a card in fat or ntfs, the SPV doesn't see the card.

Make a check (chkdsk) of your SC-CARD, (what is the size of your SD-Card ?)

If your phone is stuck in bootloader mode try this procedure using mtty:
Cmd> set 32
Cmd> password BsaD5SeoA
Cmd> ruurun 0
Cmd> ResetDevice
If this doesn't fix it, you need to flash your original ROM, matching your CID.

I chaged my SD card Sandisk 1Go by a SD card Toshiba 2Go and the upgarde from the sd card run to the end without problem in 10 minutes.
the SPV asked to select any key and after return to the bootloader screen with the three colours.
at this step,I made a soft reset and the SPV go througth the first screen and installed windows.
now the SPV run as the origine with the wm5. it's better than this morning but I don't understandand why it isn't in wm6...

Good news.
You have installed a Orange Rom (WM5), now you can USPL and upgrade with a WM6.5 rom.
You can also upgrade the radio rom, i'm using radio 3.21.90 in France.
For your SD-Card, you can install "ArtemisSDEnhancement.CAB" for correct Artemis bug with sd-card.
After you install "WM5torage_19.cab" and can active it and format you sd-card.

Help with instaling new ROMs

Hello I have an HTC tytn (hermes200) and its on sweedish lang I would like it to instal a new rom to bo on english. I instaled SIM and CID unlocker and it works fine. But when I trie to instal a rom like CRC r13.5 it disconects my phone from the computer, I use an USB conection via ActiveSync. That conection works fine when I transfer files or something else and the only time it disconects is when I trie to instal the new ROM, please help I tried everything and btw I dont have a SD card my curent OS is Win 6.0 Pro but I dont understand a word of the lang heh, but the phone is so cool and I just cant give it away.
Please help guys..... Sorry for my english...!!!
btw I instaled Hard SPL v7 and SIM and CID unloacker without any problems, the only problem is instaling the ROM...!!!

re-installHard SPL V3 if you installed before the sim/cid unlocker.
Use the sd card method to install a new rom... Just make sure you have a 2Gb sd card or less and its formatted FAT32(they are default FAT).
copy the .nbh file of the rom you want on to it and rename to hermimg.nbh. insert into hermes, reset into bootloader(tri-colour screen) and follow the prompts. If you did it right then you now have a new os on your Hermes.
Depending on the os on your pc it could be a few different things...
If you're using XP then upgrade the .net framework to 3.5.
Vista and 7 I can't say...

HD2 update failed (noob)

I recently bought a second hand HD2 by internet (NLD)
I was so happy .... but when i switching the hd2 on I got to see UPDATE FAILED!!!.

i've tried to connect de hd2 to my comp. but it does not regonize it
I looked around on the net and here on the forum but I do not get it
can you pleassse help me with the correct links !!!

try this:
plug into pc - install drivers
(instead of serial, there need to be "USB")
then do a task29 (delete nand)
then try to flash your fav. winmo rom again!
(if you dont want winmo, you need to flash another hspl version for android)

Most often the reason the SD card method fails is because a 8GB or greater SD Card is used.
A 1 or 2GB SD Card would be a bettter option.

OKE ...maybe thats the problem...i tried every methode
REMOVE HSPL, uploading a new custom rom, radio etc

You need to have HSPL to flash custom ROMs.
Have a good read * HERE *. These are the instructions I followed when I first got my HD2.
It is a bit of a read, but it is very well worth it.

First off did you use your serial number to download the Windows Mobile ROM from the HTC site?
Second, yes a 2 gig or smaller SD card works best but have you tried doing a complete formatting the SD card using Fat 32, also did you rename the file LEOIMG.nbh and place it on the root of your SD card? It has to be named LEOIMG.nbh cause the bootloader will not recognize any other file name, and it has to be on the root of your SD card or it will not detect it.
Third, do you see Serial or USB in the white bar of bootloader when you try to flash via RUU? If it says Serial you do not have the HTC USB Sync connection between your computer and HD2. If it says USB you should have the HTC USB Sync connection.
Fourth like member fred_up said you have to have HSPL to flash any custom Windows Mobile ROM, and you have to have HSPL 2.08 to flash MAGLDR and a 2.07.50.xx or higher radio too, and you have to have HSPL to flash cLK also.
Fifth your battery has to be 50% or more to be able to flash via RUU or it will not let it. But if you do not have a working Windows Mobile ROM, MAGLDR Android or WP7 ROM, or a working cLK ROM, you can not charge your HD2 cause it does not charge in bootloader. Although if you can get cLK to flash you might be able to let it charge while it is off, not 100% positive about that though.
Last have you downloaded and tried out the HD2 NAND Toolkit? if you have not I suggest you do as it might make things a lot simpler for you. Also take a look at my guide linked in my sig as it might help you understand your HD2 a little better.

after restart the phone zune dosent connect to my phone and i try many time and do restart to pc and phone and still not connect to zune>zune asked to connect my device? im try many times and no thing?
why after update by zune happend this problem?now what can i do?

What ROM are you using?
I found the Zune update process very problematic. There are certain cabs that you need to install via cab sender before you can update via Zune. Then, sometimes Zune won't allow you to update unless you do some tricky thing like jump up and down singing Merry Christmas to yourself in the mirror.
I have had the most success going straight from 7004-7720 using cabsender and then, installing the deviceprovisioning cab, then using Zune to do the cleanup update (which has its own errors).

Ok. We're using the same ROM. Getting from 7392 to anything above, via Zune, requires the deviceprovision.cab mentioned in the BUILD 7403 section of the second post on that page.
I can tell you it was a massive p.i.t.a doing the updates using Zune. Zune lays down each update one at a time. Some install w/o issue, and others require the dance I previously mentioned in order to get past the "your device is up to date" message.
If it's not too inconvenient, you might as well reflash the original ROM and do the one shot 7004-7720 cab. It, too, may not be successful on the first few tries. I had no issues with it until Friday, when I was trying to partition my SD card. Then it was giving me errors during the update before the partitioning process. Lather, rinse, repeat. It works.
So, after flashing and updating via cab to 7720, then install device provisioning.cab and use Zune to update to the Mango cleanup. It will most likely give you error 801800b4 or something like that. Unplug, reboot both computer and Device and try again. Only one reboot for computer, but reboot device each time update fails. It will go through in 1-10 attempts. HA!
SD card problem - once WP7 is installed with an SD card, it takes it and considers it internal memory. Basically, a RAID 0 setup. You cannot swap the card with any other and have WP7 function. They can only be changed out during the hard reset process. Anyway, because of this, WP7 encrypts the SD card and renders it essentially useless to any other device. To bypass this, you need the devstorage_lock.cab from here:

After this is installed, it stays part of your WP7 installation until you have reflashed - it survives hard resets. If you want to use your SD card for another purpose (and not with WP7 again), then run that program in WP7 and you can use your card. In the event that you want to dual boot with Android, you'll need to run that each time you power down WP7 before booting into Android.

No, you don't need to reformat the card. Upon flashing or hard resetting, WP7 grabs the card right up.
