Hi,
May I be so bold to ask, as to where the microphone physical location is? just curious, btw my unit is an atom. tia.
The bottom left picture and the bottom left black rectangle is the physical location of Mic in Atom.

tnx tjkhattak61, is it the next to the earphone jack? i'm curious because my microphone seems soft on the calling party. i'm also using the metal casing, this might cause the softness on the receiving as well.

Hi,
I am just checking on my new Softbank Hermes
Just noticed that the keys the farthest right of the keyboard are little bit deeper (or sunk) that the ones on the left...but they response perfectly.
Are your unit the same ?
Thanks
anyone ? I have 3 days for exchange ..
I have an HTC Tytn and my keyboard is not like that.
My T key has a big oval of paint scraped off of it, and the backlight shows through, seems the center of my keyboard had a hump in it.
If you can exchange it, I likely would.

Internally the Hermes has on one side of the keyboard (can't remember if this is shown on the wiki pictures) a foam rubber block running from the qwerty row down to the spacebar row. At the opposite end this is absent as internal parts make up the gap. It does not surprise me that there is some uneven-ness in external appearance though this should be very minimal. If your keyboard works perfectly I'd hang onto it given numerous reported problems with unresponsiveness of keys.
My keyboard if anything is a fraction higher in central area but not so high it scrapes on screen assembly.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the tip...
Browsing from the pics, youre right, the left side has this foam block and the other side has none. That's why the keyboard is high on the left side and slowly sinking going to the right...(around half of millimeter..)
My unit is working perfectly, and I dont want to change it if the unit would be the same.... it might be the design ,...

Quite right would be a gamble. Was just about to guide you to pictures just as you replied saying you'd seen them!!
Mike
Dont know why you have a hump on the center part of your keyboard...your foam block might be in the center in your case ?
I also saw that the keyboard PCB is fixed by a clip on the right and a black thing on the left side...do you know what's this thing ?
so...there a way to "perfect it" by putting a slightly thinner foam on the right side to equalize the pressure...
Do you have a pic on how to do it ?
Guys,
I read the user manual and found out that the antenna location in the HD is actually in the rear part of the HD instead of the upper part. And there is a warning in the manual not to touch that antenna location while using the phone.
So, how would you hold the phone while talking and not to touch that antenna location?
Second question, about the speaker.
It seems to me that the only speaker location is the front (the ear piece).
Is this right? I have a Prophet and it has a small speaker (ear piece) and another one in the back for "speaker" mode. I prefer it just in the front (same design like the old Wallaby etc).
Is this the case with the HD?
I've tried and you can't help but hold it the same way you would hold any touch sensitive phone...
There is a speaker next to the rear camera. It's small, but it does the job. Unless you're expecting cinema-quality, of course, lol!
See the attached pic taken from the HD User Manual.
antenna is in the bottom on the Diamond and Touch pro aswell...its this way in a lot of newer phones.
.
where the built in microphone is located?
.
im guessing at the bottom. probably some small slit along the silver lining. but thats just a guess
hey good question. i dont know either
Right below the deviece (below the OK button) there is a small hole (in my case) in the silver front cover. That small holl is the mic.
and I though mine had a small dent
wow its a realy small whole

iirc, there is a cable insde that connects the bluetooth module to the antenna, maybe you unplugged/damaged it?
Even i had the same problem, I did get the BT antenna replaced, and what i understand is some of the modlues came with Poor BT antenna. This was the explaination given to me by the service guy.

Photos are not necessary because every antenna is labeled.
I had the same problem with my bluetooth after opening my HD2 to repair sth...
I reopened it and lifted the contacts of the antennas but it won't work...
What cable was unplegged, because in my case every cable is plugged correctly :/ !
Solution
Hey guys!
I managed it to solve this problem, at first it wasn't really clear for me which cable you mean, but then i looked around and i found the cable on the mainboard was loosen! I've attached some pictures, where you can see the clip on the mainboard!
Thanx!
PS:
Location of the clip > At the third picture (the darker one) at the upper left edge of the print plate (green one) there is a small silver clip on the mainboard near the whole for one those 4 screws.

hi
great u managed it
The same here: I was able to fix it, too. The cable simply was not plugged in.
Thanks for the pictures and the hints!!
Has anyone noticed that the earpiece (silver part at the top of the phone) is cut at a slight angle. On mine, i would say that the left hand side is slightly lower than the right hand side. Not really an issue, just wondered if anyone else had this from a recent purchase.
This problem appears in some DHD but not all. I checked several units when I bought the DHD and 1 of them have this problem.
My earpiece is level with the top of the screen, but not with the top of the uni-body. It almost looks like my DHD has a small bulge at the top left!
