Hope someone can help here. I have been trying for hrs to get Tomtom to work on my touch with the new bell rom and internal gps.
TomTom just will not see the GPS. I have tryed priming the GPS but it still wont see it.
Google Maps work fine so I know the Internal GPS is working
I have TT7 set to select "Built-in GPS Reciever but when TT7 runs says "No GPS Device down in the bottom left hand corner.
Here is my Device Setting -

Thanks
Well if it's anything like my Sprint Touch, you'll need a program to startup the GPS first and then launch the GPS program.
The one I use for iGo is AstroGPSlauncher and it'll work for you with TomTom.

It works fine for me with astrogpslauncher. I am using the new bell radio, with NFSfan's 1.13 rom.
Did anyone get charged for using GPS?
I have read somewhere that if you use GPS with googlemaps, you wont have to pay Bell.
There's no charge for using the GPS.
My problem is that I get no signal even though TomTom sees my GPS...Using TomTom6..

If you have no data plan you will, but I don't see why anyone wouldn't since its $7 a month.
I am a bell user and just upgraded to the Latest HTC Bell ROM with WM6.1 and GPS enabled. This ROM also comes with Bell customization which includes a new program called "GPSNav".
If you use GPSNav, you will be prompted to accept charges (daily or monthly charge). Just don't use the program.
I tried GPS with googlemaps and works fine, no charges!
TO enable GPS with TomTom Navigator 6, do the following
1) On your Touch, goto start/settings/ then "connections" tab
2) Click "external GPS" icon
3) Select "COM4" as the port in the "programs" tab.
4) Select "none" for GPS hardware port in the "hardware" tab
5) Check "manage GPS automatically" in the "acess" tab
6) select "ok" at the top right to save settings
Now open TT Navigator 6
1) Access the GPS Status utility
2) Select "configure"
3) Scroll to select "other NMEA Device"
4) Set GPS baud rate to 4800
5) tap on "com4" as the port
Make sure you in an open area (outside prefered) so you can get a lock on the GPS.
P.S. You DO NOT need to launch another GPS software first to get a lock before you use Tom TOm! The new Bell ROM provides a much faster lock on GPS than any of the previously cooked ROMs!
Enjoy you new GPS!
I tried your suggestions, and I do believe it should work...but I'm getting "No GPS Device" any suggestions?
i get the same message when i start tom tom 7. but when i take it out side the house after few seconds, the program starts acquiring the sats.
tomtom on touch
Im a new user. i have an HTC touch with the upgraded rom. I use google maps with gps with no problem. i want to use tomtom. I don't know how to get TT navigator 6 or 7? My question is, I have a tomtom one, is the navigator software there? or do I have to buy it?
Sorry if this is a very stupid question.
Thanks...
I also have the newest rom (radio ver3.42.50) with windows mobile 6.1. I am having the same problem with No GPS Device detected in Tom Tom Navigator 6 with all the settings recommended by Neova. Google maps works fine with the GPS and Tom Tom was working with my previous ROM.
I just want to confirm that it works right out of the box. The GPS port is com port 4. I guess there should be away to use the virtual port as well. I have TomTom 7 and what ever firmware Bell just release. Just start TomTom, go to configure GPS. Choose other kind of gps. Then choose COM Port 4. Do not choose the internal stuff because the way it set up is not as an internal gps.
I got my Tom Tom working with a GPS primer program: Astro gps Launcher
Can't figure this out!!!
I have spent hours reading posts trying different software and still can't get this tomtom 7 gps to work. The program loads up and and set up location however it shows no gps device. I followed the instructions above to no avail. Is there something I am not doing? I have a Bell HTC Touch with most recent upgrade to rom and software. On Google Maps the gps works following the path that I set out. I set the gps on other nmea device and still no signal from sats.
If anyone has any ideas I know that this thread is older.
Thanks in advance
Use astrogpslauncher
It works fine for me with astro.
Igo8 also works.

do you really think the problem is the GPRS? it never showz up !!! ...
from out of nowhere it just loading
now I reseted for the 4 th time today HARD RESTE my device
put regional + keboard layout + contacts with sync via PC - and installed iGO
everyhitng works fine : GPS, wifi, ALL !
I just wonder how much time until again from out of nothing I will get again black screen
it only happends in iGO ..
so after I use my device for a while..or just some minutes, the loading cicrle it just appears ..in the middle of the screen
after this, iGO is not working anymore, but everything ales does! -when I attept to start iGO i just get a black loading screen with the loading icon in the middle (4 color circle as told before)
I will tweak it and try until it works, I did it like you said !
thanks
I think my problem is a faulty autorun
I deinstalled igo and renamed the autorun directory
no, that loading colorfull circle it never comes up.
I will hard reset my device, and install again all igo + deactivate the autorun "feature"
I'll keep u updated.
if someone has the same problems I have please post here
thanks!
Drahtman -> the soft reset after hard reset worked finally smooth for me.
now my device works with all apps on it, and i got rid of that annoying loading circle.
it was because of the autorun ....
anyhow

Hi,buddy....thanks for your help, man! but could u give me the link which it teach us how to tweak the registry for GPS configureation, please!
go to start/settings/sys
then enter the regional settings
now try to set it on US or UK ....what ever get it to work better
if you then suffer from time difference from your time zone (your ****ry real time) you can set your clock as if you travel to the ****ry you live in
ps - you can disactivet the sync of time on your AS at the home PC so you can sync with no shift of your appoinments etc
you can also find good solutions here if you go back on the threads

Hi there people.
I have a Tomtom ONE v2 device.
with my old phone, i would pay a yearly subscription to get the traffic updates. this would work by bluetooth pairing my tomtom with my phone (K800i). tomtom would then get my phone to GPRS data from TOMTOM about where all the traffic issues are..
But when i try to do it with the X1i, although it will see the phone, when i try to access the data and get an update of the traffic, it says: "X1i The required features could not be found for this phone"
.
Any help would be appreciated from you guys out there who may know how to sort this one out?
Traffic updates are important to me
Thanks in advance
Does anyone have any ideas?
surely a phone such as this should integrate with TomTom?
Hi,
I believe this is because Microsoft removed Bluetooth DUN (Dial up networking) from Windows Mobile 6 - This has been replaced with PAN / Internet Connection Sharing.
TomTom currently only support DUN and not PAN
Aparently DUN was removed and the operators were able to add it into their ROM if they wanted to, just not many carriers did..
I have not got the exact threads to hand as im at work and they are bookmarked on my home PC, but if you search this forum (or google) for "Bluetooth DUN WIndows Mobile 6" or "BT DUN Windows Mobile 6" there are some threads which detail some fixes - I think there may be an aditional CAB file and registry tweaks required to get it working...
If you cant find them ill post back on here toinight with the links I found..
Cheers,
Craig
Wow, thanks, I have found a few articles about installing a CAB file
WM6_BT_DUN.cab
Hopefully it is as simple as installing it..I will have to wait till i get home to try this...
You are a star for pointing me in the right direction. Pints are on me!!!
Not a problem
I have been looking at this over the past couple of days, would you mind letting me know how you get on with it and if it works?
Cheers,
Craig
big smiles around here...
it works..
top marks!
thanks
I installed this too just now, but DUN isn't listed in Bluetooth Supported Profiles

That's irrelevant. DUN should be listed in Windows Mobile before anything is connected.
easy tiger
For me, all i did was install the cab file as mentioned above onto my phone, soft reset, and then tried paring my tomtom to my x1 and it worked.
cab files is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1351044&postcount=21
(for pairing the phone has to have bluetooth on, and is visible to other devices)
comm manager: settings:bluetooth: mode:
The pairing was done from my Tomtom One V2, not from the phone. The phone just accepted the pairing.
On a tangent:
Remember though that using wifi at the same time as bluetooth turns bluetooth off..
but it can be fixed by reading this thread:
[FiX] Bluetooth turning off with MortScript - xda-developers
My X1 also does not show up a DUN profile
comm manager: settings:bluetoothrofiles
but heck, it still works!
Hi, I have followed the instructions and my tomtom go 700 now sees the X1 properly. However I have some questions:
To setup the data connection, what phone do you select in the list on the TomTom? Or what custom settings should we use to connect to the internet from the tomtom using the X1.
Thanks,
Stephane

Windows Mobile devices
Major
Background location updates: Google Latitude background location updating has been fixed and allows you to continue updating your location automatically in the background even when Maps for mobile is closed.
To enable this, choose to exit Maps from its main menu and when prompted, select 'Yes' to continue background location updates.
When in background location update mode, Latitude will default to cell ID (cell tower) location detection to preserve battery life. WiFi or GPS detection will not be available in background mode.
Note: you may receive a limited number of installation reminders.
Auto-restart location updates: If you turn off your phone or it ran out of battery with automatic Latitude location updates enabled either in the background (see above) or with Maps left open, Latitude will respect this choice and automatically restart location updates in background mode when you next turn on your phone.
Force location updates: Manually refreshing your Latitude friends list also forces the update of your own location if automatic detection is enabled.
Login errors: Several fixes completed to address multiple causes of login errors for Latitude, such as invalid certificates.
Backlight behavior: Your device backlight should turn off according to your system settings when Maps or Latitude is left open in the background. Previously, Latitude may have kept your backlight on when in the background.
Internal error: Selecting a friend in Latitude to see more info and options will no longer cause internal errors on some devices.
Minor
Many minor interface and layout issues have been fixed or changed.
Cell ID (cell tower) location detection near two cell towers has been improved so that your location bounces less if you're between two towers.
Map centering when GPS is active has been fixed on some phones. Previously Maps may have defaulted to your location instead of a friend's after you choose 'Show on map' for the friend in Latitude.
Friend photo icons have been fixed to properly indicate if a friend's location is recent (blue outline) or old (gray outline). Previously, some friend photo icons remained blue even if the location was old.
Photo uploading for your Latitude picture is enabled for .png files.
Known Issues
Errors may occur if you are verifying a phone number that has already been registered with another Google Account.
Username or password fields may be off screen or covered by the software keyboard. Login errors will occur if you proceed without entering a password.
Cannot paste text into fields in Maps for mobile. On some devices, you may be able to use the software keyboard's CTRL+V command to paste text into Maps as needed.
Thaks a lot for sharing!
thanks a lot for sharing !!!
awesome thanks!!
i think this is the same version thats been out for over a month now.
correct me if i'm wrong. but the one thing that makes me think its the same is that latitude doesn't run in the background when you close, even though you agree to continue sharing position.
although my phone may not support cell tower based connections as a backgrounds service...
boo sprint
having an always updated thread about google maps with changelog is cool
so are you gonna do that with every future version d0ugie?
no Copy/Paste = SUX
hopefully it will continue to track my location as the previous version 3.0.1.2 did not! Plus it sometimes hung on a certain location (friends mobile) even though I updated it and on my mobile I am on the spot.
Cheers ... was just about to go looking for this "bad boy"
Font size
Does this version 3.0.1.4 still have the font size issue that prior 3.x versions have had? I'm still using a 2.x version on my Tilt because I haven't found a fix...
oh thanks for sharing. Will surely update on my next CR86 THD ROM release.
Ok I can say that is has tracked me today all day. Basically I know it updated my status because my phone would make an internet connection and this happened when I made major geographic displacements. Unfortunately it takes data usage to update it.

Yes unfortunately...
Yikes. I don't know where it's autostarting, but twice after a restart I've found my Tilt is running DOG SLOW and I go into MemMaid and GoogleMaps is taking 100% CPU for several minutes.
I was running it with Latitude on and I locked up the device playing with something and had to restart, so I guess I exercised the functionality where it'll auto-start Latitude for you. I haven't tried exiting and leaving Latitude running and resetting again.
If it keeps doing this, I'll go back to the previous version. Latitude is cute but I don't want it doing this. I never leave it running anyway, I have enough stuff running on my Tilt.

So the compass in Touch HD only gives you digital coordinates.
There is no visual compass like on Android-devices and Iphone 3GS, right?
I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding your discussion - but since when does the HD have a compass??? AFAIK it doesn't!

Exactly, thats why im wonderring how this is supposed to work?
My GPS connects and i get coordinates, thats it.
I guess thats all we can expect from our Touch HD.
rumours says ... HD hardware provides a hidden compass feature.... (like TMC or graphic improve)
it needs only software (or software programmer) to work ....
But the compass software unfortunately delivers the same error to me as the topics thread says....
Well it kind of works for me, when i get a GPS-signal in Google Maps I get coordinates in the compass-software aswell. But thats it.
Our HD doesn't have build inside digital compass so unlike iPhone 3GS we cannot use it inside building instantly, must have GPS reception with coordinate. New HTC Tattoo has it, you can see it in its specification, and maybe HTC Leo will have it as well.
I have yet to get the compass turning, so it's almost useless for now. If you have GPS software, it will give you both the coordinates and direction of North.
I guess it's just a cool gimmick in the end.
like many GPS programs that are available for WM, most have a compass componenet to them a personal fave of mine is efficasoft GPS, though it will only register once your movement and direction has been determined via GPS coordinates, So unless you have like someone else said the new Iphone or some others maybe have a proper digital compass then you should get a stationary reading ?, anyway.... I think thats right....?, feel free to corect me....

Install GoogleMaps again.. trust me ;-) and about the compass..it works when you are in the move only ... so it's kinda unuseable - compass toy
you have to make sure you install, google maps to your main memory not your storage card. Then it works, but once you try to quit it causes slow down and problems until you soft reset.

The HD does not have a digital compass in it like some other phones. You can run a GPS compass on it, however.
A GPS compass can tell you which direction you are moving but it cannot tell you which direction you are pointing.

Some of you may have Garmin Mobile XT installed on your Windows Mobile Phone. I created this cab which includes all the original TMOUS HD2 Whitelist registry entries and also the entries for Garmin Mobile XT to auto rotate. This works a lot better than installing another application on your phone.
For the New Garmin Icon:
Copy the picture to the Device Windows directory
And manually add the "Icon" key to the registry file:
{

}
Follow the directions above to change the icon.
The icon will look like this when finished:

Garmin Online - Panorama Photos work when you rotate your device (landscape).
1. Install cab to device memory.
2. Restart Device.
3. Launch Garmin Mobile XT
If you are going to distribute the cab or icon. Please link back to this thread.

Glad to help, I have to share what I have found, tweaks, etc. I've done alot of reading, and some of it is trial and error, looking at how other programs perform etc.
It says: "Follow the directions at the link above to change the icon.", but there's no link???
above
I meant follow the directions above.
Is it free
Hello i have been looking free nav softwares and i run in to this.
Is this really free? some places the say its free but you need some key gen generator or something.
So whats the real answer and if it is really free where and how do i install it because i have been searching some installation quides but there is no good one.
Not Free
Garmin Mobile XT is not free. If you are looking for a free GPS Software, you might want to get Google Maps or Bing Maps. Using a keygen to crack software is illegal.
