Hi All,
So, today I tried installing Haykuro's latest SPL and ion rom, when low and behold, my phone was stuck at the G1 logo. Searching this and other sites offered no solution. I wasn't about to lose my hardware hacker cred and get a new phone... so, away I fiddle. I finally got the phone into recovery, after many reboots, and looong power/homekey presses. Once in recovery, I did the following.
put the hardspl update.zip on SD
Reboot, still frozen
wiped
rerun Haykuro's new SPL
DID NOT REBOOT - Wiped data
rerun radio firmware
Again, did not reboot - wiped data.
Pushed the ion firmware
Rebooted, and my g1 once again works.
Props to Haykuro - You are the man!
Tracy
not to be disrespectful or rude but HOW did you get phone to recovery, many people are stuck on the G1 screen and have tried pressing hoome+power for hours on end and yet nothing, so what did you do differently. if all you did was press home+power then you weren't bricked
to replicate again, I have to do again
I didn't have recovery at first. I spent quite a bit of time (about 4 hours).
At one point, I had the phone plugged into my desktop.. it was on the g1 logo for 20 mins, when usb hardware detection warned about an unknown device.. after that point, recovery worked, but took the 'pull battery, reinsert, press and hold home, then press and release power' sequence to activate.

So either you phone is not actually "bricked", i.e. SPL update was successful, but OS update is not. OR bricked phones are actually working, but taking much longer to finish self-check or something.
Tracy, what radio version do you have?
For what its worth, I suspect that the phones are taking far longer to finish their self checks, just from what I saw.
I 'bricked' it before loading the new OS, and the phone had a functioning OS prior to this.
radio is 2.22.19.26I
Is that the radio you have on it now or the radio you had on it *before*?
Both.
I updated the radio when I rooted it.
okay sounds like you soft bricked your phone.
and from what i understood, you had the phone plugged in all while trying to get into recovery mode and at the g1 screen.
first off, UNPLUG the phone from the charger or usb.
(i had this 'soft brick' issue when i was trying to flash H's SPL but i had the phone plugged in, only after i unplugged it and wiped and re-flash everything, things started to work and no issue with a continuous g1 screen loading)
hopefully you have JFv1.43 recovery image or Cyanogen's 1.1.
hopefully you flashed the newest radio prior to H's SPL.
dvt or pvt?

THANK YOU!!
My phone was a brick after I had flashed hardspl and then danger spl, I wasnt thinking, over it and thought it was done for good..But I found your post and this worked! My G1 is back to life now
I flashed an older version of cm, 4.0.4 to make sure everything would go as smoothly as possible but do you think I could flash one of my nandroid backups that has cyan's 4.2.7.1 firmware on it? I dont want to risk getting another brick but I'm not sure if restoring a nan backup will screw everything up again?
again, thanks for your help
this thread reminds me of bigfoot/nessie/ufo sightings videos I don't think either of you actually "bricked" your phones...seriously, they would be worth their weight in plastic if they were. Either way, glad to hear you have them running properly
I had a similar problem when flashing the spl. I fixed it with fastboot:
Code:
#fastboot erase recovery
#fastboot flash recovery [I]recovery_file.img[/I]
Hello, I have some problems with my mob.phone HTC HD2: after using Flash mobile stop working, then I tried install windows and tried turn on first time and my phone shows white screan with name HTC and don`t work at all, then i tried reset and Hard reset all setings and turn on again and than screan appears again with name HTC.
When i conect my phone to pc by usb, so my pc can`t find that phone.
Can you help me with this problem.
Thank you.
you should get your stock rom, ONLY your stock rom, extract the file ruu_signed.nbh
copy that file to your sd card formatted to fat 32 rename the file to leoimg.nbh
phone off
hold volume down
tap power (keep volume held)
phone should boot to three colors screen and start to flash.
this will ONLY work with original rom.
Thanks for Help.
Same problem......
I am also stuck in the white HTC screen, (R 2.06.51.07 G 15.30.50.07U D 1.66.76641). I can flash from SD card and so i tried, using the image in the latest official RRU, no way, it doesn't fix the problem.
I didnt try any unofficial rom, i just updated to the latest rom from HTC, it worked fine. The problem occurs after i had to restart the phone while trying to connect to a xifi AP...
Any idea what i should try now ?
Thanks. You saved my day.

OMG! Thank you so much! I love you!!!!!! I was stuck on boot because my flash failed and i followed your instructions and now i can flash again!!! i was so worried and if it weren't for you i would be screwed. Really you are a HUGE help! Keep the good work up
how long did you guys have to wait till the htc rebooted after that flash? cause ive been waiting for over 30 minutes and i thought i made that wrong.
Note: ive used HSPL fist, then flashed it with energyleo.23547, but energyleo kept stuck in bootloader
now im pretty afraid of loosing manufactors warranty ...
well lads, pay attention: ive fixed that my problem all by myself. HINT: ive kept holding the buttons for to long, so the device got stock while starting up. so dont press the voldown-button for too long, maybe only for 2 seconds!
hard reset
Remember boys and girls - if you get stuck on the bootloader you can also do the following:
1. Remove the battery to turn the phone off, leave 3 seconds
2. Replace battery and hold down the vol down button and turn on your device to get into the bootloader
3. It should say 'serial'. Plug your USB cable in and it'll change to 'USB'
4. Flash your stock ROM as normal using ActiveSync method. This will also reinstall the SPL (in the case of people who can't get past the first white HTC screen). I did this after the first (and only) time I tried to do it the SD card method. Put my stock SPL back on my phone

im pretty sure that flashing over usb won't do the spl. only sd card flashing can touch the spl.
When I tried to flash (after installing HSPL) using the sd card method and it bricked I went into the bootloader and it put my stock SPL back on - hence why I said if the sd card fails

I'd be inclined to suspect that In your case the spl was flashed during the failed sd card flash, so was already stock spl when you then flashed the stock rom over usb.(which of course being stock doesn't need hspl )
Hi Guys
I'm having the same problem, however, I bought the phone second hand. My question is how do I find out what my stock ROM is?
cheers

you download HSPL, run it, and if your spl is anything else than 1.42 it will give out an error and no harm is done
Hey
Thanks for replying. Do I get the stock ROM from the HTC website, is there a way to get it as a .nbh file as I am currently on a mac.
thanks

White Screen and HTC logo
I have found a similar problem, I flashed the HSPL rom following the instructions to the letter in the NOOB section.
Restarted my HTC HD2 having hard reset, and it would start and begin the installation and setup, once the setup completes, the software requests a soft reset, at this point my phone hangs on the white boot up screen with the HTC logo.
What am I doing wrong?
Stuck on White HTC Screen after ROM update
Why is it that, having run the HSPL update on my HD2 and checked that its successful, does my phone hang on the white HTC boot screen when it reboots after setup.
I have installed the energy rom, the most recent version. It still hangs at the boot after the rom does the soft reset...
Help please?

I have now installed a 'Leo_RADIO_15.31.50.07U_2.07.51.05 **(from HTC **???? )' then re-installed the Energy Rom, but still getting stuck at the white boot screen after the first reboot, so I have now done a hard reset and the phone still hangs...
Any more ideas?
OK, I received a T-Mobile hd2 that was and still is stuck on "stick together " screen. I tried the reset button on the back, taking out the battery, checked for bents battery pins, and I downloaded 2 "official" .exe roms and renamed to zip and extracted.the nbh file and renamed to leoimg.nbh and tried to flash them.via a formatted fat32 2gb SD card and only one worked, kind of but gets stuck at like 15% of the way?? For like 10 min..I just pulled the battery. .I tried it twice..Please help me out here..this is what is says on the bootloader screen if that helps??
PB81120. SS-B3
SPL-2.10.0000 8G XE
MICROP(LED) 0X05
MICROP(TOUCH) 0X50
AND NOW IT SAYS THIS (ON THE GREEN PART OF THE BOOTLOADER SCREEN), AND THIS IS AFTER THE FAILED FLASH THAT I TRIED..
"UPGRADE ROM CODE ERROR PLEASE TRY AGAIN" ?
Is that just saying that the flash failed?? Or something else??
Please help me out guys...as you can see I'm kinda desperate and exuasted in trying to get this.hd2 working again!! Preferably ANDROID FROYO..THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
You need to make sure you are flashing the correct stock ROM. Try downloading and flashing the official T-Mobile US 2.13 ROM, that SHOULD get you back to working. Everything you are doing is correct, Fat32 formatted SD card, under 4GB....nice job searching before posting, that is to be commended. Anyways, try the 2.13 ROM and let me know what happens.
Have you tried a hard reset? Or task 29 while in bootloader mode?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Ok i tried the 2.13 rom and it flashed and said success! but then it just stayed at that screen?? so i pressed the reset button on the back and now its back to the stuck "stick together" screen!! ??? should i have waited till it rebooted after it said "succes "?? i waited like 5 min and nothing and i just pressed the reset button..or should i have taken out the battery??
Yeahhh...you may have jumped the gun a little bit...after is says success, it takes like 10 more minutes for the ROM to set everything up. Go into bootloader and try flashing it again with the stock ROM and wait for at least 10 minutes and see what happens.
OK ill try that if I get lucky enough for that successful update..LOL
But I flashed a hspl2 (2.08) and can't I just flash away?? (USB..bootloader mode) ?? Since the phone is always stuck on the bootloader screen..
I just open the exe flash program and connect my hd2 in bootloader mode and I get the USB mode on the bootloader screen and I flash away..but it but it always stops at a certain point...mostly 8%..???
Yeah you can just flash away like usual. HardSPL isn't required to flash an official ROM anyways.
what am i doing wrong!!?? i tried ,many roms but hang at 8% 95% of the time?? i tried kumars tmous v2.9 s23139 se rom, the ruu_leo_1_5_tmous_2.10.531.0_radio_15.34.50.07u, and T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_2.13.531.1, all stop at 8%???!! ...i always do task29 after every failed rom to be clean and start over..thats right..right??
i have the hspl 2.08
i have a feeling im flashing an incompatible rom that requires a different radio rom??
please give me a link to download the right rom...thanks
1st post, rom 2.13

i feel for ya man, i keep getting up and running , every thing runs fine, i get it to survive a few reboots, then dead.... stuck at the boot screen.
i cant wait for a solution to android running natively...
I tried but hangs at 8%????
i tried many other roms, kumar, core cell, official tmobile us roms, they all either stop at 0%, 1%, 8%????? im going crazy here!!! whats going on?? i have hspl 2.08 and i do a task29 before every flash, but the wierd thing is that it doesnt auto reboot after task29?? it should, right?? and even after a hspl3 flash it doesnt reboot, the phone use to reboot automatically after one of those??? no i have to take out the battery for 15 seconds and put it back for it to boot again into bootloader?? and wierd thing is that sometimes if a flash fails and when i get it the hd2 to turn back on and if i do the hard ereset (volume up and down and then press up to reformat) it then reboots and hangs at the boot image of the last failed flash?? i thought when i do a task29 everthing should be erased???
guys im about to LOOSE IT!! i have tried to flash this phone already like 100 times int he past 3 days, no joke!!! 2 times it reached 100% but even after it rebooted and i did a hard reset it would hang at the boot logo?????
please guys help me out!!! and im the type of guys thats not gonna stop unless it breaks or someone takes the phone away from me...lol

Did you have Android loaded on that same microSD card? Does it hang if your microSD card is out.
After you task 29 it should auto reboot, then you press Volume Down and Power to get into bootloader. Have you tried flashing from your PC via USB? If you are flashing form the card a stock rom, it will overwrite your HSPL to Stock SPL. You probably know this. Also if you flashed 2.13 then you need to install HSPL3 and not the original HSPL program. 2.13 has 2.10 firmware. HSPL only supports 2.8 firmware.
I've always heard when it hangs on boot up that it's usually something on your card.
it never had android, i got it with the stock firmware and it was messed up, stuck on "stick together" screen..and i never have the sd while im flashing via usb in bootloader.. i tried many roms, and task29 followed by hpsl3 and then i would flash custom roms and even stock roms but all fail?? all stop at like 8%, but the wierd thing is that even the task29 sometimes fails at 0% so im suspecting maybe its from windows 7? but i did try xp and the samething, the roms would stop usually at 8% or 0%??? ...weird?
ok i kinda fell like my mind is cluttered and confused..
i want to know, please..what rom is compatible with my current tomobile hd2 with hspl 2.08 colutta
so what rom should work fine?? with no problem?? and DOES IT MATTER WHAT MY RADIO ROM IS?? i have a feeling that if i have a older radio that it will interfere with the rom???
Ok i got it to accept a rom flash from sd card!! But it just stayed at the "update complete, update success" white screen??? I waited over 10min the i did a reset and hard reset...and now stuck at the boot logo??? I heard i might need a higher radio??? 2.10 or higher?? Is this why its not booting up?? Can i flash the radio through sd card??

You can flash a radio, just like a rom form the microSD card...
is there such a thing as a wrong radio version for a rom or "required" radio version for a rom?? will that cause the phone not to boot up???

I've never had issues using any Radio with any ROM really. Some combos work better than others but won't cause your problem. If I were you I would task29, then flash the 2.13 or the new 3.14 shipped ROM via microSD to take the SPL back to stock. Then I would flash HSPL3, then reflash a Custom ROM or the Stock ROM via USB. Then do a couple hard resets after that. If that doesn't work I'm thinking Hardware.
You can use any of these radios. http://www.4shared.com/dir/RFg27UmU/Radios.html Doesn't matter what ROM you are running.
Wtf!! I tried to restore the stock tmous roms (2.13 and the latest 3.14) and all would stop at 8%???? And i reverted back to stock 2.08 spl..still hangs at 8%??? But if i flash that core cell rom...itll say success 100%..??/ why???? Man this freakin hd2 is makin me go crazy...hardware issue maybe??
come on guys?? please help, its been like 10 days no reply...
Hey, so I have an HD2 that was flashed badly. No problem, enter bootloader, reflash, right?
Strangely enough, it was acting strangely, and would freeze while in bootloader mode (plug in, nothing would recognize it, plug out and USB is still on the screen).
I pull the battery, try again, and get to flashing the Radio, it stops at 96%, and then fails. Try to do the recovery, but when I restart it, I a triangle with an exlamation mark (!), and I can't enter bootloader.
So, is that it...?
Oook, so I got into bootloader, flashed the HardSPL ver to 2, trying to flash the radio again, and it's not moving at 0%...
I'm having a similar issue. I have cotulla's HSPL 2.08 and I cannot flash ANY rom, no stock t-mobile, no android, nothing! Someone please help us! I would hate to see our HD2's go in the drawer and be forgotten

Try and flash the stock (or branded) ROM, either by USB or SD method.
No, I installed that update when it came out, seemed to make the phone worse so I went back to 2.13

a friend was doing similar ...
he upgraded to cotulla's HSPL 2.08 no problem, but when updating to most recent radio to allow him to play with putty or energy it froze at 96% and now just boots to ! screen
will not acknowledge attempts to SDcard flash, and his attempt to flash with latest stock HTC rom fails at random spots between 1% and 45%
going to grab an old stock rom and try voldown/power into tricolor and downgrade I guess
may have had some success ... seems his sdcard was formatted as FAT not FAT32 (doh!)
put duttys latest on the card and sd flashed that no problems, then put latest radio on card and sd flashed that, made it to 100% but 10 mins later and radio flash attempt still sitting at 'update in progress' with bar at 100%
guess I'll try with HTC stock via sd now
no joy there either ... hangs after attempting to flash the first radio portion
RESULT! seems the root cause was cotulla's HSPL 2.08
Ran HSPL_2 went back to 1.66-HSPL
then installed stock 1.48.405.2 which flashed completely and cleanly
phew
hd2 died help!
i accidentaly flashed an incorrect radio rom and thats where my problem started. although it still vibrates continusly once i put the battery back but im not sure if i can revive this. please help me out.
I managed to flash the latest radio successfully with 1.66-HSPL in place.
I just bullheadedly continually kept reattempting to sdcard flash just the latest radio, maybe 15-20x it either locked or gave me RSA errors.
Just before I was about to fling it into the fireplace, it just *worked* for no apparent reason ...
Just whacked Dutty's latest on there, and now happily looking at the 'tap next to begin screen'
Hi All,
2 nights ago I flashed my HD2 without any issues following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477. Now a friend saw how well Android ran and asked me to do the same on his.....
His phone is (Or was) identical to mine and I have used the exact same files to update the radio and the Rom..
Now, I have updated the Rom and I am only being shown the HTC logo when booting and it gets no further. Removing the battery and holding the power button does nothing.. I can get into the boot loader and that's it.
Any ideas what the issue is and how to resolve it?
Many Thanks in advance
Firstly, do you see ".hspl" in bootloader? If you do, then phone has been unlocked. Next, your MAGLDR hasn't flashed properly I guess. When you boot the phone does it show 2.1x.xx as the radio version? This might be the problem, because when you flash MAGLDR without the appropriate radio version, it stucks on the green logo.
Just repeat the procedure again, that should fix it.
First, 2.08.hspl (if not already unlocked)
Then Radio ROM
Then MAGLDR
Then DAF ROM or CWM
HI, first off many I thank you for your prompt reply
I ended it going back to the 3.14 stock rom from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283 and then going back through the processes...
All seems to be in fine working order now... must say I was somewhat bricking it!! lol
