Rom with Cube - Wing, P4350 General

I was just wondering if there was a rom out there other than the touch-it one or like a program to install the cube on a rom like carbon elisha v4.2

Not that I know of, but to tell you the truth, I wish my ROM didn't have the cube...
It is cool for the first week, but then you realize that the HTC home plugin is much more functional and easy to use.
The cube is pretty, but that's it.

it also takes up a huge chunk or ram, but if you really want it, i believe the biggy version of one of ttran's open touch roms has it.

That all depends on the user, I have 7.4 lite and I love it better than all the others! If you are looking for something more like I phone you can flash the lite HTC home and install ifonez 1.1.2. Its a cool and very Iphone like. But like I said, Its all based on what you want out of your phone! The best thing to do is start in the Hacking Development section and just start installing things and trying them out. That way you get to know about your phone and its limitations! But most important, Read, read ,read! And dont be afraid to ask, we are here to help eachother! God bless.
Edit: Here you go, check this out...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436656
And Phonecanvas is the dialer used in some of the opentouch ROMs.
awesom reply dude. Thanks a lot.
I agree with DashMaster2000.
Version 7.4 TouchFlo2D is (in my opinion) the best ROM.
You have a lot of free storage space and there are only a few minor bugs.
But nevertheless alor credits to ttran001. He did a hell of a job...
My Opinion is 7.7 lite!
It comes without compression, so you don't have so much space, but it is faster and has no Manila 2D installed, so you can decide wich Interface you want!

i think the open touch with spb shell is the fastest with overclock

i would reccomend grabbing either 6.5 lite with no spb nd no tf or 7.7 lite and trying out a few of the iphone type theme's. or grabbing ivan's clean rom. i am currently using 7.5.1 pro with the updated icontact and have yet to see a problem. i have around 23MB of memory free after a day or two though the memory leaks and goes down to 20ish.

Yeah, I'm using 6.5 lite and it seems to me the fastest out of the bunch. Just overclock and viola.
overclock?
whats the easiest way to overclock on one of these roms, it seems like batterystatus thats cooked into the rom would let you overclock but I have no idea how to use it, some helpful links or suggetsions?

Use omapclockplus. Do a search. the latest version is 0.0.4 or something like that. BatteryStatus doesn't work.
Tried all the others..and I keep going back to 4.0 biggy.
I say the best is 6.5. Tried 7.7 and my .exe's didn't work. Plus, 6.5 lets me instal the t-mobile_customizations and my mms pics are the ORIGINAL size and not some ****ty 160x160 thumbnail .
Use HomeScreen Plus Plus to overclock. It also underclocks when your phone is sleepong which saves battery power .

I thought batterystatus has the same feature too..
Anyway, the most stable and fastest ROM in my opinion are the ones with HTC home screens.. Version 4 and version 5
They are both loaded with application..
With version 5 you would need to do the MMS thingy but its not that hard

Batterystatus was great but ended up being to complex with to much crap arounfd its original feature... Omap is the best option... try to overclock and if the speed is fine and as long as you have no surprise for a few hours, register the new speed so it is permanently set on your machine until a hard reset or a new flash...

Homescreen Plus Plus = Battery Status, theyre the same exact thing
but i think 7.5 Biggy is the best, im currently usinig 7.7 but its freezes too often. But im too lazy to reflash it so im waiting for ttran
Another vote for 6.5
The "black lite" version, with no touchflo or anything else. Lately I haven't even been running batterystatus/homescreen++ and the speed is fine, I might try omap soon.
For what it's worth, this seems to be the fastest, and most stable, plus I love the start menu using quickmenu, I'm very fast with it.
Another feature I recommend is the simple HTC home plugin for the today screen. It comes with the weather screen and launchers, photo dialer, etc. I also downloaded weatherbug for the today screen which has notified me three times this week of national weather service alerts in my area (very cool)
I used to hate iContacts, but the newer versions are much improved, and I like it now.
This is the most stable one I found when using a few gps programs simultaneously.
Hope it helps.
yea i agree that 6.5 lite is the fastest..ive tried every open touch rom and 6.5 is the most fastest to me

Is WM6.5 worth upgrading to?

Hi,
I've been using Jack V3.x medium for the past few weeks. The ROM has been brilliant apart from a few issues with TF3D lag (although i gather that this is a universal TF3D problem) and overall i am quite happy with it.
Jack V3.x is not based on WM6.5 however, unlike some other ROM's that have been popping up in the ROM development forum. From what i've been reading WM6.5 is only an incremental upgrade to 6.1 and so i am left wondering: Is it worthwhile to upgrade to WM6.5 now, bugs and all, or to wait for a few months before upgrading so all the bugs get wrinkled out? Also, what WM6.5 ROM would people recommend upgrading to?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. The factors that would make me want to upgrade are things like improved functionality, faster speed, clearer UI, etc.
Well I am using gtrabs ROM and so far I am really liking it. It is pretty fast, no bugs or crashes, and the interface is clean. I have kinda got a bit tired of TouchFlo3D so I wanted something different. I would say give it a go....
itje's 6.5 RC1 is what I'm on, if you disable threaded messaging it works probably better than official 6.1 roms did for me. Its faster, scrolling is much much better, looks nicer, and has titanium which i really get on with.
yes .
definitely worth it.
Interface upgrades, ram usage isn't up that much, it's a lot smoother.
using gtrab's rom right now, it's so quick when browsing windows in file explorer.
battery life has somewhat improved, strangely enough.
I have only tried one 6.5 rom, and that is Valkyrie v1, which has TF3D in case I didn't like the WM 6.5 interface. It all functions properly, so I'd recommend trying it (or other 6.5 roms) and see how it works for you.
However I'm seriously considering going back to WM6.1. While this 6.5 rom works well and I'm glad Chefs are experimenting with 6.5 (doing a great job!), it just seems slower and less refined. I'll give it a bit more of a go before giving up though!
Regarding the WM6.5 interface, I personally thing TF3D is far better - why have such a tiny area for plug ins? Daft I reckon!
Give it a go and see what you think!

TITANIUM is a Ferrari, tOUCH! Flo is a school bus: big, heavy and slooooow...
Just my 2 cents, MHO of course
Definately a YES. All I need to do now is to choose one. LOL. I am new to this as well, so a bit worried in losing my waranty if anything happens.

I may give it a go, and if it crashes trying to load /windows/ I'll be looking forward to the youtube clip ;D
Touch Flo slow? Really? Seems very quick to me, at least on the latest roms. It also seems to have a much more efficient layout.
I've just put Touch-it v7.1+ (WM6.1) back on, and it's so much smoother & together than the 6.5 rom I tried!
But yes, I may give your rom a go gtrab, and see how it is. I'm sure 6.5 will have advantages, just not sure it's there yet.
What do you do in WM 6.5 for listening to music? S2P is no good (well, is good until you get a call and it mucks everything up!), WMP is no good for finger navigation.
Even if smooth though, I'm pretty sure the new TouchFlo is better than Titanium, but I will see if I can be persuaded
Comparisons are always subjective. I quite like the clean interface of Titanium and got bored of TouchFlo. I may get bored of Titanium and go to SPB Mobile Shell etc.
One thing you need to remember is that WinMo 6.5 (and the R3A ROM) are still in Beta so some may get bugs and some may not. FTR I am using gtrabs ROM and so far it is very good and I think it will be a keeper for me until the proper version comes out (i.e. no beta).
Apart from having to reload your programs there is no harm in giving it a try - if you don't like it you can go back to a 6.1....
Yes, I think you must try Gtrab's WM6.5 ROM...It plays with speed. I've tested another 4 WM6.5 ROMs, and finally i go back to Gtrab's one and said Wow! for his Rom.

I use Sony's MXP panel for media
I don't like Touch Flo, I prefer the Panels and Titanium (both together)
Many "Touch Flo" cookers these a days, and just a couple of XPERIAncers as me
This is a matter of choices and tastes, very subjective, yes I agree with all of you
Only one thing is for real:
The only way to find WHICH ROM and WHAT softwere better suits your own needs is by trying...
Which car is better ?? Audi or Mercedes ??
You have to drive them both and make your personal pick
Same principle applies to ROMs
My oppinions:
1- If your personal preference is Touch-Flo, why upgrading to WM6.5 ???
You can get GREAT ouch Flo ROMs from itje, jack or smaberg
2- if you REALLY prefer Touch Flo, why buying a SONY XPERIA in the first place ??? The phone itself was not designed for Touch Flo !!!
Thanks for all of your replies.. i'll put on WM6.5 to test out now. I like your confidence gtrab, so i'll be puting on your barebone version first .
Oh, and regarding your questions in your last post: I am a fan of TF3D only because it adds a lot of usability that the default WinMo 6.1 lacks on its own. It also looks good and gives me all the information i need in an easy-to-access manner. If there was an alternative that maybe wasn't as good looking but had functionality and more importantly was fast and hopefully free then i'd be happy to move over to it (The PointUI panel was brilliant, but the lack of a large-font clock was a downer).
And as for why i bought an Xperia.. Well, mainly because i accidentally dunked my last phone in a cup of scalding hot tea . When looking around for new phones i liked what i saw in the Xperia reviews and so here i am. The phone itself is brilliant, apart from its default OS and panels. In theory they sounded great but in practice i didnt like the associated lag (on vanilla OS, at least) with it when switching from one panel to another. Still, it may be time to try them out again.
Ok, i'm off to flash a rom or two .

Because w/ X1, we have a choice to pick panel and/or TF3D. Not the other way around since no others devices are able to run Panel stable.
OKOK, I admitted I would have a hard time to pick X1 or HD if HD fully support USA's 3G. ;p

In the end, yes, you need to use what suits you.
1) Why upgrade to 6.5? Well, how would I know I preferred TF3D if I didn't try 6.5? And why not try something new? - it could be better, and I will keep trying new things, as the current TF3D will not be the best forever!
2) The Xperia runs TF3D perfectly well, and I knew this, so this did not put me off buying the Xperia. Also, hardware comes into it - the Xperia was my only real option, as nothing else (that's worth having) has WVGA screen and hardware keyboard.
While a lot of this is subjective, not all of it is. For example, the amount of useful space for an applet on TF3D compared to Titanium:
You can do much more with this space, e.g. calendar & music player.
If I had more time I'm sure I could show some of the objective advantages to TF3D, but I don't, he he! But I guess, even if one is actually better and more efficient, if you prefer the other one, then that's the one for you to use
And regarding the media panel, when I tried it, it seemed great, but when I changed back to default panel the music stopped - is this normal? I'd use it if I was able to run the music in the background while browsing the web & doing texts!
It's great we get such a choice on these phones, thanks to XDA dev!

New manilla 2.5

Please check this images and video from new Manilla for HTC Firestone

Wow this is super!
Want it! On my diamond 1
I second this, want!
third that!
I will fourth that
But it looks pretty slow on that touch HD, so i think at the diamond it will be even worse?
Very useful!
Read that it's far from stable atm. I think that WVGA devices are the first to show Manila V2.5 before you'll see it on VGA devices like the Diamond.
I want it too!
Time to resize some of that
I hope HTC remembers us with vga displays.
I definitly like the looks of it.
wow! it's so nice. does exist somewhere?
this is ugly as hell. they placed 300 things in the manilla, and now it is getting complicating.
buttons and options all over the place!
I thought they stoped tf3d programming cause of sense....next generation of wm phones should use htc sense and not longer tf3d
I could hardly see WinMo which I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing. Anyways, seeing this made me want to buy the diamond2 more.
any news about 2.5?

SPB MObile Shell 3.5 - anyone used this

Has anyone used this and what are your impressions compared to HTC Touch 3D. Does everything work, any problems?
I have this and find that it runs a little smoother than touchflo.
I have just started using 3.5 but have used previous versions and liked them. It's pretty smooth, and much more customizable than TouchFlo - kinda like the Android interface. (Although I have to mess with it a little more - they've changed some things since 3.0, and I can't figure out how to get some things customized the way I had them before on my Touch (vx6900).
Previous versions had a little bit of battery usage issues, but I'm having that issue anyway with my Imagio, and it doesn't seem like it's using it any more than Touch Flo was. They have a 15 day free trial, and it's worth at least trying it out...
how do I add new widgets to 3.5
just tap the bottom right hand corner "drop up" menu - add widget is in there

Not that crazy about it. It's total eye candy, which is cool, but imho it makes things unnecessarily complicated and convoluted.. Plus, there's the huge interface consistency issue that bugs the hell out of me..
Yeah its Purty!!! And very flexible but I uninstalled it after i used the 3d carousel for a minute or so lol.. I just needed to see what it looked like in 3d since I didnt have that option on my omnia. its one of those things where it all depends on what you need your phone to be.. for some its just right, others too much and for many not enough.. mainly because SPB doesnt open it up to the community enough.. it definately does not have as much OS integration as touchflo..

WooHoo - Thank you XDA-Claus

Admittedly cht brought many of the Android tricks to the party but maybe I need to try another ROM as I have been a little underwhelmed by the Desire Sense appearance on the HD2 (doesn't seem to take advantage of the screen real-estate so much)

If you're after something speedier, try one of the many RAM based ROMs out there, they're pretty slick!
As for eye candy, there's a **** load more options for Android.. almost too much choice! I still haven't decided on what widgets to settle on yet lol
From what I have read the Froyo Sense Revo 1.7 is very stable so was my choice for thr first foray into Android and to be fair it worked straight out of the box and I d/l apps etc.
My only real complaint is the clock is huge [takes up 1/3 of homescreen] and the widgets take up way too much room so that [for example] I can't put the caledar widget and the marketplace together on the home screen; the calendar only shows one appt as well (I will learn to fix this to show more no doubt esp once you nice people helps a brother out!)
As you say I have seen the blackstone super-fast ones as well. For the time being I can live with the boot speed [may well use another bootloader rather than JMZ v4] since it all works but I may experiement in future - exceller or the mkskip loader support multiple roms I think so that might help.
I was just mighty chuffed that my rom upgrade and the android install were so slick.
I am also enjoying the apparent better reception with this rom
