Wi-Fi Issue - Wing, P4350 General

Hey there. Got myself a Wing and put Aserg.12.WM61.E (03.08.90 Radio ROM) on it.
Everything works great, it looks pretty and I've never been happier with Windows before. My problem is with the wireless connections. I can find and connect to hotspots (tried both on free public hotspots and on some private ones owned by friends of mine), but I can't do any actual network traffic (tried to browse with both IE and Opera, for example, and neither can connect).
Is there some magic setting I don't know and can do?

Wififofum and wireless problems

I just came back from quick coffee grab and tried to find some free surfing grounds. Turned on wifi, didn't connect. Loaded up wififofum just for the fun of it, and found out that there were several networks in the area. Some of them had wap on so I didn't mind not being able to connect to those, but the attwifi network (which I should be able to connect to because Barnes advertises them there and whatnot) and two other networks (which I think were classified as device-to-device) would not connect for the life of me. So:
1) What exactly is device-to-device
2) Should I suspect my device or just crappy luck?
2a) Any suggestions?
Moreover, I can only remember getting access in 2-3 places, and I only rely on getting access at my home.
Thank you very much in advance for whomever finds the time. I just want to see the soccer scores on my phone!
Try Hitchhiker, it works better for me.

Leo as Wifi Router

Hi - I cannot find this feature working - simply I start it up but cannot see the setup network via my laptops so I have excluded problem with it. Any ideas?
It is very unstable, I often never see the network after having enabled wifi router. The only solution I have found is to try several times and/or softreset the phone and try again.
Mine only works when the HD2 is right next to my laptop. The range is horrific. Still, I don't use the function. I'm quite happy internet sharing over a bluetooth connection.
i found that it wont work if you enable wireless N.but work with G without tweak using BSB
The Wifi router works very well for me and I use it regularly. This was one of the many features that attracted me to the HD2.
When I enable it on the HD2 from the com manager, my laptop connects automatically. Try restarting your laptop, once you had enabled the Wifi router to discover it if you are having problems.
In terms of range my HD2 is normally kept in the same room, and I have no problem with signal strength. Plus I rather keep my HD2 close so that I get my calls and messages. It is a mobile phone after all.
I can then surf for hours. (Low bandwidth web browsing eg reading XDA/email so not to go over internet allowance).
I have not yet enabled wireless N while using this feature.
I found that my PC could only see my HD2 as a Wi-Fi router when I switched my normal home broadband router off. Once I did that, it could suddenly see the HD2 and reported a full strength signal. I connected and everything worked perfectly.
Hope that helps.

[Q] WiFi Problems AFTER Internet Sharing

This is an embarrassing question for two reasons. First, I’m sure it’s a simple answer that is just getting past me. Second, every search string I try comes up with dozens of pages talking about setting up Internet Sharing, none that I could find addressing my problem. After reading through numerous pages and double checking the terrific collection of FAQs that mmalka put together for the Rhodium Energy ROM, I decided to ask here.
My problem is with connecting to the Internet through a WiFi connection on my TP2 AFTER having used the Internet Sharing app.
I use WiFi at home all the time and I never have any issues setting it up after flashing – this time was no exception. It’s been working flawlessly since flashing the ROM in my signature several days ago. But I needed independent Internet access at work yesterday to test out a VPN/remote desktop connection on a laptop and decided to try the Internet Sharing app on our phones. VERY impressive! A couple of quick buttons pushed and viola’! Worked like a champ!
However, back at home I had trouble getting my phone to connect to my home WiFi router again. I discovered that when I tried turning on the WiFi, it was looking to be used as an Internet Sharing point again. So I deleted that connection (“forgot” it) and it successfully connected to my home WiFi router. However, it will not actually go to the Internet – everything faults out with “Connection is currently unavailable”. Switching to the T-Mo 3G connection, everything works great.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions short of a hard-reset?
Many thanks in advance.
Solved!
Well, judging by the number of looks with no reply, either this was a simple solution that I should have been able to easily figure out or no one else is having the issue to know what to do. But I finally figured it out and just in case anyone else eventually comes across the same issue, I thought I tell you what I found.
After digging around, I found that the Internet Sharing application changes the Broadcom 802.11 DHD Network Adapter to a local IP address. So all I had to do was change it to “Use server-assigned IP address” and everything worked. (Settings tab, Wireless Controls, WiFi - Connect to WiFi Network, Advanced, Adapters and Networks, Network Adapters, edit Broadcom 802.11 DHD Network Adapter, Use server-assigned IP address.)
I have no idea whether going back to a standard wireless connection should automatically switch it back, but it doesn’t in my case. If anyone has a simpler way of address this, I’d love to hear about it.
Regardless, I hope this help someone.
Thanks

OK, so I stumbled into another revelation. It seems that if you remain in the WiFi Router application (or simply go back to it) and use the "Stop" command to discontinue the service, the Broadcomm Network Adapter does get reset to "Use server assigned IP address". The few times I used Internet Sharing, I was in other apps when I finished and simply turned off WiFi.
Oh well, live and learn.
I had a similar issue recently.
my new router was connecting fine to another mobile, but not my EnergyRom mobile.Thought it was my new routers band G/N compatibilty issue. however your post help remind me that i had used internet sharing on my HD2 for my laptop a few days earlier..Checked out my settings and well broadcom adapter was set to static at 192.168.1.1...switched it back to server assigned Ip and voila wireless is connected now
Really appreciate your post..Thanks so much for posting the solution, Gregb882

Wifi problem on my hd2

I just got an HD2 (flashed windows 7) and when I try connecting it to my home network, it will say connecting and then after a while it shows "Connection Unsuccessful"
I have a linksys wrt610n router, and i even tried resetting the router but still the problem persists.
First I thought it might be a phone issue, but it was connecting perfectly fine to the local library's hotspot and a starbucks hotspot. So that means, it's definitely something wrong with my house network that it won't let me connect.
All the other devices : ipod touch, laptop, xbox 360, connect fine to the network.
Please help me with this issue, as I am using HD2 without a data plan so without wifi,i cant fully use the functionalities of hd2.
Thanks.
Is your ssid hidden? Wp7 has troubles with that, you could try the wp7 section without sounding cocky, there is a couple of threads mate about it, more help in there.
Sent from my HTC Leo using XDA Premium App
Yeah, even before flashing the rom the same problem existed. I think it's something wrong with my network, as I am able to connect perfectly fine with at a starbucks hotspot.
And no it's not hidden. The networks visible and the name of the network is with spaces -> cow boy , does that make a difference?
do you have mac filtering or anything turned on liked that in the router setup ??
do you have any crazy characters in the password like %^& ??? that could be a prob not sure also check these out looks like it could be a sd card problem, have you ever had it connect using android or winmo 6.5???

[Q] Portable Hotspot via Orange (EE) connected but no traffic-I have searched...

Hi,
Firstly I should introduce myself, my name is George, live in Essex and have a passion for cars and gadgets.
I've been roaming this forum since I had my first android device a HTC Hero and try and use search as much as possible rather than repeating other peoples problems but I am properly stuck with this one..
To be short,
Device Details:
Device: Google Nexus 4
Android Version: 4.2.1
Carrier: Orange (EE)
Problem: Portable hotspot is active and I can connect to it from various devices but there is no data pass through.
Solutions tried:
Changing the APN type to every possible solution mentioned (i.e consumer broadband etc)
Using both open and sercured sercurity on the hotspot
Connecting using everything from another phone to my Google Chromebook and all imbetween
I've read there has been mention of Orange blocking this but most people find this isn't the case and its usually fixed via the APN.
The only thing that looks slightly odd is that an ipconfig on my windows machine(s) shows 192.168.xxx.xxx yet the IP address displayed by my Nexus is 10.166.xxx.xxx and if I ping my Nexus's IP from my machine i do get a response.... (all when connected to the hotspot)
Even with a ip release/renew still picks up 192.168
So that is my issue....
I can't think of anything else bar a factory reset which i'd rather not do just yet so thought i'd ask here first I geuinely searched everywhere!
any help would be much appreciated....
Don't mean to bump this but if anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated!
Even if someone could just confirm they are using the Orange/EE network with the Nexus 4 and has it working?
Thank you!!
i'm also on orange (EE).
bummer. mine's not working either. i thought it was but i think i was connecting to my router's wifi instead.
i also tried bluetooth tethering but couldn't get that working at all.
A sort of "me too", here: I'm also an Orange (EE) customer who can't get WiFi (or Bluetooth) tethering to work. However, USB tethering works fine - just appears to install a RNDIS virtual Ethernet adapter, and then just works.
Using Wireshark, I noticed that DNS lookups (which use the phone as a DNS server/ proxy) actually work. However, SYNs for connections to hosts on the Internet go unanswered. I'm beginning to suspect that the phone just isn't forwarding packets from the WiFi interface to the cell interface (but no idea why)
As a sort of aside: I'm pretty sure this used to work on my Motorola Atrix via Orange.
Having the exact same problem, running CM10.1.
Have messed around with APN settings but does nothing, laptop connects phone and even shows as having internet access but trying to visit any site just times out.
I have tried the exact same hotspot configuration with a giffgaff (O2) sim card and it works fine, so it must be Orange!
