1st post - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

Hi I actually have nothing constructive to offer just wanted to be the first to post on this forum.

very constructive indeed... and, you weren't the first... OliNex were

Very constructive!
Are there actualy any specific HTC accessories anymore? Now that they insist on putting that damn mini USB port on everything.... Stuff like wired and bluetooth headsets should work across the board...
The only accessory I can think of that changes with each model are the powered in-car mounts. I spent a few quid on one for my Wizard and then bought the Kaiser a few months later and it's a different shape and there's nowhere for the audio jack to go! D'oh!
Lesson for the future: Buy a cheap adjustable mount and just bung a charger cable in the phone!

well spare battery never hurts!

im particularly interested in the video out. saves me carrying my notebook to conferences when i have to address a bunch of people on the future trends of microelectronics and microphotonics.
hope the resolution is good.

However what I would like to try is some video specs. now that would be great to watch movies with. anyone know of good ones?

I've always had the best luck with stuff from Seidio. I'm done wasting $ on the Ebay crap.

and the second where can i put it ?
in my pocket?????
wait for your replay
thxxxx peolpe
This is an apples and oranges comparison.
The x7500 is a handheld computer and the iPhone is a mobile phone.
You have to have big pockets if you want to put the x7500 in one of them, and using it as a handset is kinda like Maxwell Smart with his shoe phone. But with a bluetooth headset, you have a much more capable communications device than your iPhone. Just to mention a few improvements, the x7500 has a keyboard, 3G internet, a2dp stereo bluetooth, and the ability to add much more memory using a miniSD card.
If you want a phone to put in your pocket, keep the iPhone. If you want a PDA that is nearly a laptop and has excellent communications capabilities, the x7500 is hard to beat.
Besides, you can probably sell the x7500 and buy 2 iPhones. Your friend made you an offer that is hard to refuse.
THXXXXXXX MY FRIEND FOR THE NICE REPLAY

No, you don't need one device for each gadget. No separete phone, separate GPS, separate MP3, separate video player... One device would do it all.
This review covers not just the issue of using Athena as a phone but also many other aspects also.

You should change it with your friend before he realises his foolishness.
Or get a Nokia E90
I have both and I wouldn't want to be without either, but if it was only one device I could have it would have to be the iPhone.
No way does the 7500 replace a phone. Okay, you could use a BT headset or similar, but would you want to carry it around on a night out? No way.
iPhone gives me great net access when on the go, but more serious work and play I carry the 7500 too when necessary.

i use 7500 for phone call without BT, not a problem.
I carry it with me at all times.
OK, I hear that you use both, but it is just one of the choices and not as if there is no choice.
For most who want only one device,I think iPhone can't use spare battery, can't surfwith HSDPA speed, does'nt do GPS(therefore can't possibly be the ONLY device you have to carry), can't have the same breath of third party softwares, desktop class word processing/spreadsheet/presentation on big screen, ......

At the end of the day a person can only base it on their needs as everyone's is different.
I'd do the trade just because the 7500 is worth way more than the iPhone, especially with a new model due out in a few weeks. (although I guess you could say the same about the 7500 now the 7510 is appearing, but whether that is better is a whole different thread).
Unrelated, but if I could only have once device then I guess it would be the Kaiser. Just because of size and carrying a phone to the pub thing. But I find that too much of a compromise and would rather carry two devices when necessary.
The perfect do everything device is close, but not quite here yet. (At least for me.)

Kaiser is QVGA and the screen size is too tiny for spreadsheet, word pro, etc. I still think that Athena is the best single device that does it all today. Definitely worth swapping with the first generation iPhone.
Buy a Hugo Boss dress pants, x7500 will fit snuggly and nicely, people won't even notice.

I am a proud owner of HTC Advantage X7500 and Iphone, but not looking at X7510 due to lack of processor and RAM upgrade, the RAM is still 128MB. And I like my front facing VGA camera, and my mini-joystick.
I prefer to flash my Advantage than my Iphone in the public, coz its rare! And even there is 2 Advantage sitting side by side, they are goin to look very different! Very Customised!! My Iphone just look standard and identical with my colleague's one, the 'Head-turning' effect of iphone is starting to lack nowadays.
And I do most of the time put the X7500 in my pocket.
But If anyone want pocketibility and most, if not all the advantages that the 'Advantage' have, take a look at HTC touch PRO, the one look like HTC diomond but with an added keyboard..... and these things here got 256RAM!!Its blazing!
I wish that we can upgrade the Advantage's RAM!! Coz no other function or upgrade can ever replace my desire for a nice 5inch screen on my advantage, and make me change my device!
But Iphone help me get more attention from chicks. And chick dont really dig the X7500. My girlsfen hates the X7500!! LOL
(I use my Advantage to my advantage as Excel and word document composer, powerpoint presenter(TV-out), Appointment Scheduler, HSDPA internet access, Remote desktop access, MP3/movie Player, incar GPS navigator, game console, Podcast/news reader, namecard scanner/recogniser,Ebook reader, Dictionaries(8 of them),USB hard-drive, Advance Scientific callculator replacement, camera, and so much more...like making call, set task, emails and sms.)
i beg to disagree... im a girl but i dig the x7510... in fact, im dying to have one... i'm begging my husband to get me one before the year ends and he just couldnt understand my fascination with it. He'd rather get me an iphone or just a tytn plus a umpc. But I put my foot down, it's the x7510 or i'll be very upset

Way to go girl...lol
My solution has been to get a cheap cellphone off eBay (Cingular 3125) when I just need a phone. But mostly take the Advantage, except in rare instances (sports event and the like).
I find that with BT headset and my MBW-150 watch (which tells me who a caller is, as well as the sender and the subject line for a new message) I only dig out my Advantage when needed. But when I need it it's there... near-laptop capabilities right at my hand.
For now, I will stay with the Advantage. The iphone lacks (a) MS Office compatibility, (b) customization, (c) push e-mail, and (d) customization. However, given the release of a SDK for iPhone, that will probably change soon. I assume that an Office clone will come out, push e-mail has been announced through "MobileMe", and other options to make the device more personal will no doubt increase as well. I give the iPhone 6-12 months until the drool factor will overtake me... unless HTC comes up with a real successor to the Advantage better than the 7510.

Sad day, lost my X7501, replaced with Redfly

I was in a hurry to make a connection and left it in the seat pocket on the plane. Someone in Chicago or another connection has a great device. I bought the redfly to go with my ATT Titan II and just connected it this morning. The big disappointment is that video is terrible. Other than that most apps work great. Let me know if you want me to test something.
It is unlikely that the airline will find it, so I'll have a battery and original box for sale in about 10 days.
thats really sad
Re Redfly, how is the performance in mobile office? Read some reviews mentioning about pdf files opening extremely slow... your experience so far?
Using BT, how is battery life? Just curious to know the real user experience.
Thanks.
Redfly
All of the mobile office apps work great, it is not hard to see why they are targeting the business market. The only thing that I'd love to see would be better video play, but I did not expect that. The keyboard is fine for touch typing and I've had no trouble getting used to it. The screen is really good in the truck and I'm enjoying it for gps, google maps, and expensable. The view of contacts and calendar when in the truck is so much better than the phone itself. It is priced ok and worth it at $199 but that is still a stretch since it cannot replace my phone screen or media player for video on flights. So my dilemma is still multiple devices if I want a larger screen. The screen for Mobile Office is better than the Advantage, but for a do it all device I'd like to have it back.
I just received my scratch and dent x7501 from an ebay transaction, and it only came with the charger, so I might be interested in whatever you have, especially proprietary cables. I can't say I necessarily have to have them, but it might be helpful in case i decide to sell.
I didn't think I'd miss it like I do. So I'm going to watch the "for sales" and ebay for a couple of weeks to see if I can find a replacement. If not, I'll contact you 1st.

RE Comments and a Question About Redfly As Well
First off, very sorry to hear that story. Thats a fine piece of equipment to have to get over from the loss. I know how I am, I'd be walking around kicking the ground with my head down for weeks. Just remember, you never know, that airline could call tomorrow and surprise you. I would also make sure you contact them again. You never know. Perserverance in a case like this can be invaluable.
Let me also take a second to say to the masses, if you do not have your devices clearly marked with Contact Info, your making a mistake. I simply go into Word or Notepad or whatever and make some simple pieces of paper with my name , number. the words CALL IF FOUND, use a Size of 7 or or 9 FONT depending on how big device is and use BOLD. Cut them out, apply to back of battery is best, but at the least under the battery, people find a device I guarantee the battery comes off sooner or later, and then just use a piece of clear scotch tape (or two). This got my $1400 Black MicroTAC back in 1984 or 85. (something like that) When the Car Kit was $2700. One other thing. Sure Auto Locking on a device gets old. But there is nothing better then to know after a loss or theft that at the best he has a worthless piece of equipment and the least he will have to maybe spend some money and time to get it unlocked. It will help take the sting out of it mentally.
REDFLY:
As to Redfly I also said what the heck for $199 I will jump. With a coupon from MODACO I got another $18.00 off so I am priced right. I am a sceptic about this "seeding"program. I think it was not selling and it was time to get cost out of these units back before it is too late. When they are gone they may be gone and then used and marked up Ebays will be what is available. They may even hold value awhile as they do work as stated.
The OPS statement that the RedFly is for the Business user ( I will also say Student, perfect for Student for taking notes etc) is correct. If you want to watch Videos, forget it. But if you want to type documents, get on the Internet, web browse and check emails and know your phone is staying charged all the while and get good battery life with the whole combo, the Redfly works. It does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do well, and NOTHING else really. Your getting a nice big screen for your phone, keyboard and touchpad, abilty to charge / maintain battery level on phone while using (give or take a bit) for hours. It is small and you will see about 8 hours of battery life. If you need to use a projector it has a regular VIDEO port for say classroom or Power point meeting presentations
RedFly Question / Issue:
Im curious if the OP has experienced the intermittant connect between the AC cord and the Power IN port on the Redfly. Mine barely makes the connection and will pop out while just sitting there doing nothing or being lightly moved or typed on. It seems to be an R and D issue that got by. I have read others complain about it. Mine is bad enough I am exchanging. BTW, if you are going to get a RedFly allow me to suggest Erik Patterson at Expansys USA. This guy has taken care of me before, during and after the sale on the Redfly. I have been very impressed. On a $199 sale he is making very little (if anything) commission wise, He has treated me like I did just buy an x7501 with every available Accs. LOL. He is a true professional salesperson and I would love to see him get the business (RedFly or anything else for that matter) . He has earned my future business hands down.
OK thats enough for this "cover everything" post.
Here is Eriks Info. Please tell him Ron sent you.

As for the power plug you might want to see if you are getting it plugged all the way in. Many have noted, as I have with mine, they have a lot of tension on the socket so it doesn't come unplugged and you think you have it plugged in when you don't.

[Q] Pin-out of the dock connector for A500?

I am still looking for information on the docking connector pin out for the Iconia A500. If anyone has ANY info on where I might get that information please let me know or send a PM. I want to bring a Docking Cable / BreakOut box to market.
Let me know!!!
Thanks in advance!
sanaell seems to be someone who might know of, of have access to, that kind of information.
I don't know for sure of course, but a PM wouldn't hurt.
Good luck!
I am not able to give the information at this moment because my external hard drive who contained some precious document get some diving lesson and is learning how to speak with the fishes....
"simple version, my external hard drive fall in the ocean"
I try to get my documentation as soon as possible....
haaa my gosh... I was so happy to find back a save,.....
A501... oh... A...amiga....
Buy the doc take it apart and fallow the leads and some testing might give you the answers. Don't think Acer would do so.
Hmmm....

Documentation if I can get it, beats purchasing something that everyone says doesn't do enough for a docking station and taking it apart, and tracing leads and hoping I don't short something. I'm hoping to give us Iconia users More functionality, and not duplicate the foibles of and overpriced, an underspecified POS.
Should I not be able to Get said docs, I will undoubtedly get one and destroy... for scientific purposes...That docking connector on ourA500 Has to do more than what the current dock can do...
if we can get the pinout id sure love to do some stuff with it. Being an ee major I'm always looking for stuff lie this to do. I hope it comes before my summer ends.
What can the port do
If somebody has found this info, please post!
I'm anxious to see what that port is actually capable of. The dock Acer has now is pretty lame. It can only charge, pass out audio, and maybe HDMI (there seems to be conflicting info on this, trying to get to the bottom of it).
Surprised there's no USB on it.
Just saw the dock for the Toshiba Thrive... would love to see if Acer could ever release a proper dock like that one.
Thought id just drop by and post this. I opened my dock last night. You can clearly see where a HDMI port and controller would go, also a microcontroller for the IR input.
The plug is a 40 pin plug.

Power up tablet throught dock port
Anyone knows if it's possible to send a signal to power up (as if you push the power button) to power up the tablet?
I know that they have a powerbutton on the remote but i don't know how to do it to start it.
Thanks!
Good Luck...this beast needs a dock
My first tablet was a wifi Xoom that I got the speaker dock for it. Use that as your starting point. That dock could do it all, it has hdmi out on the back and the speakers are built in the dock. I,am sure you want to be able load data also, plus look good holding your tablet. This one tablet that could use some serious love on decient accessories. If you can bring it too market I,ll check it out... I know I passed on Acer Portfolio case the leather like clips to hold my tablet looked weak as hell. For $39.99 from BestBuy they could kiss my butt on cheap ass crap, I wont be buying it. I a truck driver by trade and I,ve always spent lots of cash on gear for the road that's light, portable & durable. That Xoom I mention earlier, is in the hand of tech savy 8yr old. talk about geek 2.0, which she choose too root before the update. Now she switches themes whenever the mood hits. (Just like a Women) I myself would like to see what could out of the colabiration in the forums. So if there any thing I could do too help let me know...bye for now.

iMito MX II or MK809?

Hey folks! Some of you may know me from my many, many Android YouTube videos, if not, that's ok, nobodies perfect! hehe j/k
So my super crappy Western Digital media player is starting to kick the bucket, so i've been looking into alternatives. I only learned about Android sticks after i picked up my WD media player ( i don't think there were any available when i bought my media player).
So now i want a great Android stick for my living room TV.
Based on my full day of research, i've come to the conclusion that the MK809 and the iMito MXII are the best of the best at the time of this posting.
So i suppose i'm looking for this awesome communities help in picking one. I just can't seem to be able to tell the real differences between the two.
I wouldn't mind the option of an easy root, but rooting isn't completely needed, considering i spend most of my time in the office on the computer, but my wife spends all her time in the living room...so she won't be in to all of the custom ROMs and such that i would be.
With that all said, which of these two would you fine folks recommend? Or should i start looking into a different model?
I am looking for hopefully the best of the best...i'm ok spending a little more money on something else if it's worth it, but i would like to stick with the whole Android stick concept (pun totally intended )
Cheers!
Jared
Hi Jared!
I'd say the MX1. Just because I'd like to see you put out some videos for it!
I guess the two you have chosen are the best of the rockchip models right now. You have to pay quite a bit more for guaranteed quality. That is : more robust micro USB ports, better WiFi antenna/ placement. WiFi for me has been perfect without modification, and I'm taking extra care of those ports!
Best of luck with your purchase, whatever you end up getting!

I don't know your WD media player but do know that those both don't do DTS/AC3 passthrough over HDMI.
These Rockchip dual cores just don't cut it yet.
I'm waiting for mini-pcs that will do multichannel passthrough and i'm waiting for the better quadcore devices that'll be released in a not so distant future, those will cut it and those can replace my massive htpc.
Correct me if i'm wrong (about the DTS/AC3 passthrough).

Perhaps another tip:
Also know that in April this year (ETA, so they say) the Ouya and the Gamestick will be launched.
XBMC already announced it will support the Ouya fully.
The Ouya will have a quadcore tegra 3 (like the HTC One X(+) (fully unlocked and hackable, with active cooling meaning major overclocking)), which is now already faster then any Android mini pc on the market. It will get it's own gamemarket and controllers, ethernet port etc.
Haven't read anything about DTS passthrough tho, but as it's that hackable it'll probably be a short time before that's available.
Really excited about the $99 Ouya

Not sure if youve seen the MK809II
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083522
Its the 809 with bluetooth. There maybe other improvements too
I've got the MX2 and I like it. It uses the same root method as the mx1 although you have to play with it a little. The last I checked the custom ROM development is pretty stale except for the mk808. I don't know what DTS is so i can't comment on that.

JTAG, JTAG, what do I need to rip this baby apart?

Hello,
been digging in the "fun" world of buying a JTAG. Jeeez.... Loads and NOT cheap....
What do you guys and gals use?
I looked at so many different ones and I don't know really what to buy here to get some more insight in the hardware.
Saw there are USB-Jtags but does that work with the phones?
Google came with Segger? They had an "edu" price that was in the range of accessible.
Saw this one as well: "Riffbox - Best in the Galaxy!". Sounds...uhm... yeah right.
Or is it really good and they just have the worlds worst marketing director?
The Segger seemed more general purpose?
Saw there are some variants that doesn't need welding but I guess you must. Schematics?
Of course it would be great if it worked for a Raspberry as well so I could automate my house like the master of the world!
And I need one again. I think I found my golden road in life, but I don't want to throw away 1k Euro on something worthless but listen to you who
have experience.
Because I really want is to have a way to plug something into the phone and read out the secrets it possesses
I mean, E-Fuse data, doesn't that just sound like you HAVE to get?
Please. Can you give me some advice here? :fingers-crossed:
/Absie
