Heeeeelp - Wing, P4350 General

I apologize for wasting thread space...but I finally drove up the courage to flash a rom to my wing (Open touch 6.1 lite diamond) after doing some searching and coming across the guide provided here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358615.
I downloaded the HTC Flasher and downloaded the rom. I put my phone in bootloader mode but Im not sure what I need to do next...any help would be greatly appreciated. If theres a thread dealing with this same issue I'd appreciate u pointing me in the rite direction or if u can just tell me what Im doing wrong I'd appreciate it.

first off, you should always make a descriptive title instead of just heeelllp lol
anyways, im new to this flashing thing too, but i after reading around a bit and experemintation, ull find that its pretty easy. here's the method i find easiest:
first put ure phone into regular mode, so u can see ure today screen.
download this:
Code:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4N36HLO
unextract everything from the file above.
connect your phone to your computer and activesync should turn green
in the Flash Center folder you just extracted, you should see a file called "herald-uspl.exe". run that and it should have some text and ask you to press enter. Hit enter and once it reaches 100% itll ask you to hit enter again. do that and this should take longer, but when it reacehs 75% ure screen should shut off and u should see a penguin then a blank white screen and activesync should close. then on the program, itll ask you to press enter to continue or CTRL+C to cancel. DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING.
when you download a ROM and unextract it, included should be files and one of them should be either ROM.exe or RomUpdateUtility.exe or mayb even both. run either one of them and wait for it to flash ure phone (itll say 10mins approx time but it only takes me like 3 mins usually)

Thanks I actually figured out how to flash it and I must say I love it. I apologize for making this pointless thread...newbie mistake, Since its up I might as well post another question...its in regards to the rom I flashed (listed in my first comment). For some reason I cant get the home menu on the today screen to pop up...sometimes it just shows the black screen with the calender and contacts buttons at the bottom. To get it back up I need to do a softreset...any1 know what settings I need to change?

not a pointless thread lol i had no clue how to flash either when i first began a week ago lol
i think the open touch 6.1 lite has SPB shell on it (last time i checked and flashed it it did). it's an unregistered version so eventually ull have to buy a registration code for it... if you see a blank screen with just those soft keys at the bottom, chances are you quit out of the SPB mobile shell so you'd have to go to programs and reopen it.
i personally found that open touch 5.2 org is the best.

Please Help!

Ive doing the touch it 2.3 mod, and its says it takes 6 -15 mins, mine has been on the copy file part for like 35 mins, and im afraid to touch it, can anyone help is it finished or not? please help ive got to go to work soon but im afraid to touch my phone lol.
Ok actually I jus unplugged it and it bricked, and ive done it now two times but it never gets passed copying the files or whatever, is there something that I am doing wrong, should i get like an app unlocking file or something before i try this, but I figure that since it is hard reset it wouldnt matter, anyways does anyone have any tips that can help Im really really getting frustrated.
Did you follow all the directions to the tee?
1. Copy Aserg's Policies.
2. Run Aserg's Policies.
3. POWER CYCLE the phone. (Press and hold the power button, NOT the softreset button.)
4. Place the phone into flight mode (or just kill the phone radio within your comm manager if you're using the stock comm manager.) Do this AFTER you have power cycled the mode. NOT before.
5. Run the flashing file.
Wait, don't press ANYTHING on the phone, even that error that WILL pop up.
When it tells you it's done, if it doesn't give you any errors, THEN hard reset by holding the two soft keys and pressing the softreset key, then pressing the send key. This are the directions. Follow them to a tee and it WILL work if you're using a ROM that corresponds to your device.
ive done everything to a tee, and still the same problem, i give
mine was doing the same thing, but eventually it worked... i bricked it a few times but then decided to leave it alone went to work came back and all was well
yea i think the same thing happened to me i decided to do it last night and when I woke up it was done but then i flubbed the hard reset, so i ont know if it truly worked its nice to know that someone else had the same problem, did u do it from the tylers kit, because in the kit he as to install aserg, cerp, and enablerapi all before installing touch.
You have to make sure that its in flight mode. If the phone is receiving or transmitting anything while the flash is in progress, its not going to finish and you'll be waiting there like a dummy. I have a fairly fast computer and it still took about 30 minutes. The only problem I can think of that is causing your flash to not finish is that its not in flight mode. There will be an error during this flash, just leave it be and let it finish. Once ready, perform a hard reset and the device will reset to your new rom. So if you ever decide in the future to do another hard reset, it will only reset to the new rom.
Finally success, it was wat IIDOM said, basically i just left on for about 3 hours woke up it was done, only quirks right now is that I cant setup my email accounts Im about to search now and see what i find, and i can access my wifi connections from comm manager, anyone know the work arounds for those two things atm>? Also really appreciate everyone's help

Help needed to fix rooting gone wrong

First off im sorry im adding another rooting post to these boards.
So i decided to root my 32B magic today copyed the recovery.img over and update file from the rooting wiki, loaded recovery mode then updated, but now my phone when turned on loads to the vodafone screen and freezes id left it for afew hrs but still no luck.
Here is what i know so far:
I am able to get to fastboot and fastboot usb
I cant however get to recovery mode by pressing menu+power
I can get to the recovery mode using the sdk\tools
my problem is that im sure the fix is relativly simple i.e. load some files onto sd and start again, but the problem is that i have no other way to load the files onto the sd card than through the phone and my knowledge of adb isnt that great although has improved greatly today lol.
Im not sure how correct i am on this, but would it be a possible fix to load say a rom update.zip onto the sd card and load that through recovery mode to bring it up? If that would fix it could i possible get help on the adb code needed to pass the file from computer to the phone through fastboot usb or recovery.
Thank you very much for your help
Ok i think i have figured how to push files to my sd card however whenever i try it come up saying Failed ( remote:signature verify fail)
ok well i managed to move Cyanogen's newest rom over and update to that but its still hanging up at the vodafone screen upon booting, im lost for ideas.
Please any help how ever small would be amazing right now.
please help is desperatly needed.
i am having the same issue.... and it seems NO ONE has a bloody answer to why it is failing
I successfully update to 32A and root. Then i tried to update to MT3G OTA rom and now i'm stuck at Vodafone screen. Need help or ideas and how to recover..
i had the same problem, what i did was that i found a sd card adapter and hooked it up to my computer, its pretty quick and less hassle

take out your battery and after a few seconds put it back in, before it powers up go into fastboot(back+power) and that should do it
I still have a pretty red splash screen and stucked.

I have same problem, but your solution didn't work for me.
I did as follows.
#1. typed following command in terminal.(well, I'm using Mac)
Code:
fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
#2. pulled battery off from phone.
#3. pluged USB cable to phone and also Mac.
#4. pressed (ENTER) in the terminal, then fastboot-mac said '< waiting for device >'.
#5. put the battery in while pressing (back)+(power)
#6. then, pretty red vodafone splash screen come up.
#7. In the terminal, it still said '< waiting for device >'. Nothing was changed.
#8. On the phone, pretty red splash screen was still there. Nothing was changed.
Those are all I have done many times for last 2 days.
But, it didn't work.
Please let me know if there is something I missed.
I tried and stuck in the exactly same problem as [robotician]. I have MT3G.

THe red vodafone should not come up. You have to hold the back key longer perhaps, because it's supposed to go into the fastboot screen with all sorts of text and three androids on skateboards at the bottom.
@Niaski
was your rom made for the 32B or the 32A?
They are very diferent phones and mixing the roms causes the issue you are seeing.

DREA100 and the infamous Triangle of death?

Ok.. So a friend of mine suddenly got a triangle with the exclamation mark picture on his phone. That's all it boots up to. So, he took it to T-mobile, they told him it's FUBAR, and sold him a new phone.
The fact that the thing boots to a recovery mode tells me that there's SOME way to un-FUBAR this phone. My friend is too technologically inadiquate to attempt to do any modifying, so I'm going to assume he was at whatever firmware level would hve been blasted out to T-mobile as of last Friday 01/15/2010.
If I boot the phone normally, it gives me the TriAngle. I pop open the keyboard and hit alt-L and the I get the Android System Recovery menu. at the bottom I get "E:CAn't open /cache/recovery/command"
I've spent all day bouncing around this forum, and many like it, downloaded all sorts of G1 fimwares trying to go back to RC29, RC28, 30, 33.. gah! The latest one I'm trying to update to is "signed-kila-ota-116143-prereq.TC4-RC19+RC28+RC29.zip" Which i rename to update.zip . I hit alt-L, select 'update from SD card' It goes through:
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update package....
Installation aborted.
That's it... no more log than that.
I've done the Alt-W, and Alt-S.. wiped cache partition. I think playing around with the recent firmwares might be fun, but I'd like to get this bad boy reset back to factory defaults. I've read the forums here on how to do that.. but all of the procedures fail.
I can get Windows 7 to recognize the phone, but I cannot access the sd card while it is in the phone. I've been transfering data to it by taking the sdcard out, and putting it into a known good SD card reader. I've formatted the sdcard to FAT16, and FAT32 quick and not quick.
Seriously.. why is this so complicated? Now I need some serious digging assistance. Is there an interface that will allow me to directly talk to this phone via the USB cable? How can I force an firmware onto it? Clearly something is functional, or I would get no I/O. How can I get this silly thing back to where it was? I know this thread seems like a redundant one, but as far as I can tell, its not. The typical procedures posted here don't seem to work, but I'll be happy to run through any steps y'all suggest. I'll resign that it's been bricked if that's really whats happened.. but I'm not ready to throw this unit away yet.
Ask questions.. let me answer them. I know this team can get this phone working again.
Thanks y'all.

bingo !
sounds like your friend tried to flash something he shouldn't have. or messed around with stuff he shouldn't.
as far as taking it to the store, and accepting their suggestion to "GIVE US YOUR MONEY!" that was a mistake.
the phone is likely fine, and maybe you'll buy it from him for cheap, then fix, resell/use.
good luck, should be easy.
The "press camera and power to get to bootloader" procedure. I've tried holding the Camera while pressing power over and over and all I get is the triangle. However if I press power and the "back" button (swooping arrow to the left), I'll get the bars screen, and a Gray screen telling me to press send to restore.... Which is all good, but there's no progress or any thing to indicate that i've done something by pressing the send button.(based on cell phone standards, I'm assuming "send" is the green "call" button.
Is this normal?
No yeah.. he gave me the G1.. its mine. I just need to fix the little bugger.. .. well.. then laugh at him
Ok.. one more day (well ok.. couple hours) of fiddling with this thing, and i'm begining to wonder if Microsoft was involved. I'm not able to get this poor G1 to do anything new. I tried using a different SD card, hoping perhaps the one I got with it was bad... no dice. camera + power doesn't do anything useful.
I can connect it to the PC.. but i can't see the data card that way. adb devices reads no output, so its not correctly attaching to the PC (tried Windows 7 32bit, and Windows XP 64bit).. There's gotta be a good way to force a known good image onto this silly thing.
Is it probable that the internal memory has gotten corrupt somehow? I know someone out there's got the golden suggestion, please do tell if you do. I'd really like to use this phone.
--Rob
If you can get into fast boot (the tri color screen) there are ways to flash it... try getting into your tri color, then plugging in the USB cable and see if it switches from Serial 0 to USB at the bottom, if so you are golden to flash using the fast boot method.
There are guides around on how exactly to do that, as well a couple places that you can download the official RUU that will do all the hard work for you!
gah.. nothing doing. I can hit Back and Home, and end up with the tri-color screen for about 1/5th of a second, then a gray screen saying:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
At this point, the unit is dead. I can remove the battery, and continue on my little quest.. but hitting *any* key at all (including the Send key) will not produce any sort of output. I've tried pressing Send one time, then setting the phone down for a full hour (watched a netflix show) nothing. I can't power it off either w/o removing the battery.
I would throw in the towel.. but from all the research i've been doing, it seems as if this one is behaving in a manner in which other forum users havne't posted. Maybe by continuing to try options and post results, a positive outcome will come out, and someone else who has a G1 behaving this way will have an easier time.
... or y'all can tell me that its toast and to bugger off.. ha ha.. either way.. I continue to google. If you can think of anything, please toss it out.
OH!.. tried an RUU.. found one called. RhodiumSPLRelocker Looks promising.. but can't see the device when attached to the PC... yeah.. guess the phone has to have a functioning OS before that will happen...
You would want a Dream RUU... I looked around a bit and couldn't find one. Maybe someone has a quick link?
Double check that your SD card is formatted FAT32 and see if you can get ADB to see it when on that greay screen.
I've formatted the SD card in FAT32 multiple times.. I even questioned if my Windows 7 32bit would do it, and formatted it on a laptop running XP 64bit. adb doesn't seem to see it ever.
I don't get why I can't get it into fast boot. I've been looking on ebay for dream G1s with broken screens.. heh.. I guess i'm preparing for the worst. really sad, becasue this G1 was actually pretty well taken care of. My friend didn't do anything he shouldn't. HE woke up one morning and it was like this. He lives out in the country.. so he gets pretty spotty signal. I'm wondering if T-Mobile didn't push out an update, and it got interrupted by signal loss.
By the by... I've been doing all this work w/o a SIM card. Does that matter?

its not the green send button -- its the red end button
see below extracted from http://theunlockr.com/2009/07/05/how-to-unroot-your-t-mobile-g1/
Load the DreaIMG.nbh File
1. Download the Original DreaIMG.nbh file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XXSQ0T7W
2. If the file downloaded above downloads as a .Zip file, please unzip it first then put the DreamIMG.nbh file that is inside on the SD card, NOT in any folder. (If you did Section I the phone is off still, take out the memory card, put it in the MicroSD adapter and plug it into your computer to transfer the file over, since your G1 won’t turn on right now if you did Section I above. Otherwise if you did not need to do Section I above, then you can just put it on the SD card normally using the usb cable and the phone).
3. Turn the phone off if it is on.
4. Turn on the phone by holding the Camera button and the End key until the bootloader screen turns on.
5. Hit the End key to start the update. DO NOT INTERUPT THIS PROCESS.
6. Once it is done, hit the trackball to restart the phone. You now are on the stock firmware RC29

You mention that you can access fastboot by pressing the back button while turning it on, isn't that how the hero gets into fastboot? maybe your friend tried flashing a rom that was meant for the hero. if you have access to fastboot you should be able to flash a new image from there, just place the image file in the root of your card and follow the fastboot instructions
Also if fastboot isn't doing it for you have you tried adb? if you don't know what that is look it up I've seen a couple guides on how to do it and they are really detailed.
Im having the same problem, Im stuck in the recover triangle of death. Ive done the alt+w and reboot, the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh , the update.zip, camera+power, I cant get the gray screen to pop. Anyone have any ideas at all on how to fix it?

Any chance the home button is stuck? I'm not 100%, but I think if you were to hold home, camera and power, the recovery would come out on top.
Home button is not stuck, and cant seem to figure out the CID of my SD card since my phone is unaccessable.

an odd request

so i know this will confuse many but i need to do a factory reset before sending my phone in to htc for repairs. the problem is that i was unlucky i tripped and fell with my phone in my pocket (screen facing leg) there is superficial damage to the camera cover on the back plate and somehow the screen managed to get cracked on the inside destroying all pixels leaving me with a black screen. however the top glass is unscratched and the digitizer works perfectly fine. so i can use my phone however it is blindly. i have heard of this happening to many other people but i dont know what stance htc is taking on coverage of this flaw. my phone is rooted but i have heard of people still getting warranty coverage on hardware faults. so what i need is screen shots of the main screen with with the options button pressed. then i need a screen shot of the settings menu so i can see the factory reset option then i need a screen shot of the dialog it gives
eg i need screenshot of all of the steps neccessary to do a factory reset plz and thank you all
Just so you know doing a factory reset wont unroot your phone if thats what youre attempting, also if youve flashed another rom I dont think this will work at all. If you still want them though I can do it. Hope they'll fix it for you but I doubt it, dropping the phone or falling with it isnt really a hardware flaw.
well it will unroot it. but i know that it wont relock the bootloader its just that they may accept the policy even if its unlocked if nothing has been loaded on to it at least thats was one persons experience.
and i may be able to get it covered even though the damage was from a fall. i had the phone in its protector in my pocket with the screen facing my leg and it still managed to mess up the screen. that should not have happened.
but yes please the screenshots would be appreciated if there is any chance i can get the phone fixed under warranty i want to try it
What you need to do is flash the stock images to unroot, simply doing a factory reset of a custom rom will not unroot it...
This should be a lot easier, too, since you can fastboot flash the stock images.
I know modaco has all the 100% stock images on his site in ready to flash via fastboot format. Not sure if the link is still on here for them, though.
well now that you say that i can just go download the new firmware cuz itll flash over the root rom i dont know why i didnt think of that guess im just tired lately
edit: just realized ill still need screen caps for the bootloader because i cant see what im doing T_T
Flashing via fastboot is done completely in the cmd screen... no on screen prompts from the phone. All you have to do is boot into fast boot by holding down the trackball while powering on. That puts you in fastboot, then just plug in the USB, open your cmd window from the folder you have fastboot files in, make sure you have the ROM img's in that folder as well, then type in the fastboot commands.
god i hate command line... especially adk but i guess i can do it that way

What phone are you going to be using? All your contacts are backed up to your gmail account, and you can download them in different formats to put them on a sd card and load onto your other phone...
If it is a dumb phone, then yeah you need to copy to your SIM, but we need to know what ROM you are on, and even then it would be pretty hard since your contacts app is going to be in one of many places in the app drawer.
im just on the cyanogen with the root addon its no change to the os at all
edit: i think its called superboot
Do you have the SDK installed on your computer? You could you ddms to take screenshots of your phone and navigate that way.

[Q] Big time "oops". Can someone help?

Time to eat some serious humble pie. I broke my own cardinal rule and tried to fix something that wasn't completely broken. I was having one issue with calls dropping, and I did everything I could hardware-wise, including replacing the SIM. Then last night I tried to do the one-touch-lag-fix, hoping that might help, and I rendered my phone useless. Upon reboot, I am getting a plethora of force closes and cannot get to my main screen. I'm thinking it may have something to do with having already used the MoDaCo lag fix when I first got the phone? The 2 pieces of possible good news are that I can reboot into recovery (although the Clockwork one does not show up) and ADB is working. I assumed that "delete all user data" and "delete cache data" was effectively a wipe, but apparently it's not? Someone said that using Odin may be able to allow me to restore the stock firmware, but I tried to download Kies to get to Odin, it downloaded but it will not install. Am I "bricked", or are there options available? If you don't want to clog up the board on an issue that I don't see anyone else has had, feel free to PM me. Thanks to any & all...

since you can get into recovery, can you just flash the stock ROM thru update.zip?
I went through something like this just yesterday. Yuo need to download all the odin files from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475&highlight=odin
I used the all three files link.
The you need to power off your phone. Plug your usb cable into both the phone and your computer. You should see the battery charge screen, when you do hold the up and down volume and power buttons. As soon as the screen goes dark release the power button, this should put you into download mode.
From there follow the odin flashing instructions.

Any activity on the Odin screen? If not, it probably got stuck. Pull the battery and try again. Don't freak when you get the phone-!-computer screen, it's fine. Just telling you the update didn't apply. Use power+vol buttons to get back to download mode and do it again. The whole process shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Any activity on the Odin screen? If not, it probably got stuck. Pull the battery and try again. Don't freak when you get the phone-!-computer screen, it's fine. Ah, another altruistic helper! Thank you.The answer to the question about "activity", I see none of any kind. I'm wondering if everything downloaded correctly? What "screen" should I be seeing? I have 4 icons on my screen from the downloads. Here are their properties:
-odin1.0_T959UVJFD_512.pit_rootupdate.rar
-T959UVJFD.tar
-Odin3.rar
-s1_odin_20100512.rar
Haha, I'm remaining amazingly calm. Glad I kept my G1. I figure it's bad now, it can only get better, not any worse.
I got the same problem...got to download mode...but getting error on computer about not being able to install drivers??? Do I just wait?? Odin giving me a <OSM> all threads completed (succeed 0/ failed 0)

Decompress the RAR files. You should get an Odin.exe or something like that. Run that, then follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Select the PIT button, then the 512 pit file (I think it's in the last RAR file you mentioned). Then the PDA button and select the tar file above. Then when you plug in the phone in download mode, one of the boxes at the top of the Odin window should change to yellow I think.. That's telling you it can see the phone. Then hit flash and it should be good to go. I'm going from memory here, so if my directions conflict with that thread, use the ones in the thread.

I'm still not doing too well. It appears as though the Odin is not recognizing the phone. As a test I plugged the phone into the USB with it on, and I got the "mount" thing in the status bar, and then looked in Odin and it showed a yellow "Com 6". I unplugged the phone, powered down, attached the cable, booted into download, and no yellow window with "Com anything". Am I doing something out of order? And the phone keeps saying "downloading..." but isn't doing it.
All better!!! Thanks to all who gave input. It was the "wrong" drivers, I found out what to do and it all worked flawlessly. Let's forget about this thread and it's contents forever more!!!
