Stripped Telus ROM - Mogul, XV6800 General

I am new to the boards and to the PPC community. I am loving my new P4000 on the Telus network. However, I find there are a few programs that i just do not use and am looking for a stripped down ROM that will work with Telus.
I would like to find something that does not have live messenger or internet exploder. I would prefer to use Opera or something of the like for my browsing purposes.
I am sure there is more "junk" that can be removed to increase the performance of this device. Being new I am not sure I am asking the correct questions or misunderstanding how ROMs work.
Please let me know if this is possible or if it has already been done.
Cheers.

Are you kidding?
DCDs ROMs are what you are looking for. Click on the Titan wiki link in my signature and read. You will need the Telus carrier cab after you install the radio and rom. Keep reading the wiki until you understand what I just said.

Thanks for the information Serf,
I was able to a DCD rom up and running and all is smooth.
Thanks for the assistance. Cheers

Verizon XV6900 Roms?

I have searched but cant find a straight answer. I had a xv6700 and used the kitchen without an issue to make 6.1 roms it seem all the 6900 roms are sprint.
I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a regular verizon not alltel wm6.1 rom with no bugs ex. 6700 had the worst battery drain problem when i installed 6.1 an found nothing to fix it thats why i upgrded to the new phone any help would be appreciated.
I think there should be a dedicated verizon thread now that it has been released im sure there are other people with the same questions.
Thanks again for any help anyone can provide
With no bugs... I am constantly working the bugs out of mine... No where near anything i want to release and support online... There is a kitchen you can get from ppcgeeks or better yet from ppckitchen.org that you can use to make your own rom for the xv6900
ok thanks also do they make the rom installers that dont require the use of a kitchen program just basicly a 1 click upgrade .exe

Thaks for keeping this post available.

Trying to deal with T-mobile modifications

Hey everybody.
You will have to excuse my ignorance and please don't assume any knowledge.
I recently got a HTC HD2 from T-mobile, with its own version of the ROM, and I have to say the problems with the weather application (and others) are beginning to get on my nerves.
While I could rant about how T-Mobile (UK) has managed to more or less damage an otherwise perfectly functional phone, I will instead ask for your help.
My brother uses a HD2 with a different network, and because of this has the "generic" ROM. I'd like to be able to install the same thing on my phone and still be able to use the t-mobile internet and mobile contract.
I've tried installing the generic ROM upgrade, but it won't allow me apparently due to the fact that t-mobile has some proprietary thing on my phone.
If you can help, please do. Like I said before, please don't assume any knowlegde or understanding: I need any help you give in the most simple terms you can bring yourself to use (I've tried reading other threads, and I've been completely overwhelmed by the jargon and things I don't understand).
Also, t-mobile have been no help whatsoever.
thanks in advance
Conradw
install hspl from the hspl sticky thread in the rom development section, download the official rom of your choice from the Leo official roms sticky thread, instal hspl, then flash the rom using usb. Job done.
oh my goodness. That simple.
Didn't solve my problem, but hopefully its a step in the right direction

HTC HD2 US T-mobile Flashing - please help.

Hello. I know I should have looked around more but I did and I am still confused.
I have got a HTC HD2 today from USA(the T-mobile version) and it has lots of the branding, now I would like to simply flash it with a clean software(ROM) so it would have an original boot screen and stuff but I dont know how to do it (i looked at the flashing tutorial but I did not understand it at all, although I know how to flash Nokias and Sony Ericssons )
Would someone be able to provide me with a few simple steps what to do? This is the t-mobile version with 1024 mb of rom and 16gb internal memory. (Well it has the simlock as well but as far as I know the ebay seller has to provide me with an unlock code as they promised). I am sorry for creating another topic but this is my first Windows phone I ever had and I really want to get it working asap because at the moment I can not even call/text because of the simlock.
I am unsure whether I should have posted it in the ROM section or the General section so mods please move it if applicable.
Oh No. I just realised there is a special forum for T-Mobile HD2's. Sorry!
Thanks for any support. I will appreciate it a lot.
Look Here. Do try to at least read the stickys before posting. This thread is found in the T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development forum, believe it or not.

Did you even read his post before giving him crap?
He said he read it but didn't understand it. I don't really blame him since that write up is a bit confusing. I even had a hard time following it and I had owned and flashed my Fuze long before going to my HD2.
It's a pretty simple process. Go to the T-Mob section/ROM section. Find a ROM you would like to try. You will also want to download the HSPL found in the tutorial. Run HSPL once the phone say "We Hacked It" you are good to flash a custom ROM of your choice. Once you download the ROM you want go into the file and pull out the file ending in nbh. If it does not have the name LEOIMG.nbh rename it to such then place it on the main directory of the memory card. Go into bootloader by turning the phone off, pressing the volume keys then while pressing them press the power/end call key. Once there just follow what it asks/tells you.
It's that simple. You don't have to worry about doing task29 right off the bat. So let that wait till later when you are more confident of what you are doing.

Everything you need to know is in that post. I worked it out reading from the same tutorial, how is it that he fails to do the same?
can you be more specific in your question? what part is hanging you up?
also...why can't you make calls? that doesn't seem good...
Would his simlock issue not be him trying to use a non t-mo sim in this phone!?!?

Maybe because you had a WM phone before owning an HD2 and already understood the flashing process? He said he read it and didn't understand it clearly because he had never owned a WM phone before this one. Like I said there is some confusing information in that post that kind of conflicts with itself. It could have been written a bit more clearly. The OP of the tut kind of takes it that the person reading it should already know some things about flashing.
Also to the OP of this thread. Changing the ROM will not sim unlock the phone it will simply update the OS. If you want to get the sim unlocked you only have a few choices. You can either wait for the person you bought it from to come up with one for you, you can go to one of serveral sites and purchase one (normally around $14 US), or you can contact T-Mobile for it. Since you are3 most likely trying to run this on another carrier that latter will not work for you.
Also what carrier are you trying to put this on. Depending on the carrier you might have limited service. If you are trying to put this on At&t it will not get 3g service.
I looked at those ROMs, but they are all modified, all I want is a brand new rom with no t-mobile stuff and I would stick with it until my htc skills get better. I just really want to get the software stuff done before I actually start using the phone.
- I think I will get the code tomorrow, they have to give me one as its a part of the transaction.
- I tried to use it with 3 UK as I live in the UK.
- I can't make calls as I can not start the phone with my UK simcard (I made it sound like a faulty phone in my first post).
Once again, sorry for posting in a wrong section... I was too unpatient. Got my phone in hands and gone to xda-developers.com straight away hoping to get everything done quickly and then I realised the difference between HD2 and HD2 Tmobile
Simply... I understood the tutorial better after reading it many times, but all I want is just debrand my phone (with no cooked roms or any other stuff), at least now.

Ummm the only rom for the TMOUS HD2 you are going to find "Without" the TMO stuff is a Custom rom ...
To take the TMO stuff out you have to MODIFY, or you take another ROM from another provider and MODIFY it ... So for what you are looking for is a clean, slim custom ROM ...
There are a few out there that are really slimmed down ROMs some even very close to stock , find one that sounds like you like and is compatible with your phone and give it a whirl , you will need HSPL first, HSPL3 is out so search for it ...
Just in case if someone wants to help me searching for a "clean, slim custom ROM", I will provide some hardware and software info that I think my be useful.
Ram Size: 576mb
Flash size: 1024mb
OS Version 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87) - isn't Windows (6).5.3 out?
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
Rom Version: 2.10.531.1 (82076)
Radio Version: 2.08.50.08_2
I will have a look for a clean rom (is anyone using a clean rom or is it just me demanding too much from that phone?). Please help me look for one...

I prefer the energy ROMs but they may not be close enough to stock for you
so look here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656835
If you seen 21xxx in the OS version it is 6.5
If you see 23xxx it is 6.5.x (Actually I think 23xxx is 6.5.3.xxx)
Basically getting rid of startup and shutdown logos would be good.
This is the generic rom I would like to use but it will not work: htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856
Is there no equivalent ROM to this one but for the TMO US version?
And finally, I can hardly find any clean ROM but i will keep searching...
EDIT: I found the newest T-mobile rom on their website which I have now downloaded... is there a way I could remove all branding from there before I flash it into my phone?
Btw, Is it true that the US TMO HD2 will not work with 3G network in UK? I'm scared now
I will make a new topic in the appropiate Tmobile HD2 Section... Please answer there if you want to help me.
My bad I did not notice the tmobile section before... Sorry Once Again.

Manila 1.9 to 2.5

I just got a TP2 and it has Manila 1.9 on it still. I'd like to upgrade to version 2.5 but don't want to mess anything up. Can I just install 2.5 or do I have to work my way up to it? Any help would be appreciated, as well as a link to the version or versions I have to use...
No, You need a rom with 2.5 cooked into it. Check out the rom thread over at PPC Geeks.

And why not the ROM thread here at xda?
Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty shady about flashing my ROM as I'm never done it before. I'm not computer illiterate, just haven't attempted anything like this on a phone yet. I have no problems with cabs or registry edits. My main goal is to get Max Manila on the phone. Would someone please give me step by step instructions with links? I just see too many version specific things and don't want to install the wrong thing and brick my phone. I have a US Cellular Touch Pro 2, ROM version 2.01.5733. I'd like to stay as close to the original as possible, just add Manila 2.5....
Any help is always appreciated...
[Edit] I do have Manila 2.1 on there now also.....
There isnt a way to "hot swap" sense because its built in to the Windows infrastructure because Sense has so much control over the phone. The only solution here is to flash a new rom. The steps are EXTREMELY simple.
the thread for such a thing is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
if retaining stock apps or anything is your main issue, then perhaps you can make good friends with one of the Chefs and they could throw something together for you

True, True. Nothing against the rom thread here. I have a CDMA TP2 and just like the one over at PPC. I loved it here when I had the Vogue.

That's how we all started. It's kinda like crack in a way. Once you start, you can't stop. Since you're already doing reg edits, you one step away from flashing roms. There are a lot of great cooks in these forums that are willing to help answer questions. These guys build some great roms that truly enhance the value and usability of your phone.
Heh PPCGeeks is also a good place ;p.
You could always just install the Sense 2.5 cab over your sense 1.9? I use the Sense 2.1 cab (sooooo much smoother) and my ROM has no manila in it from the start and it runs flawlessly.
Okay, I finally have the time to play with this. I think I have the files but just want to ask to make sure. When I was reading up on this before, I thought I read somewhere about unlocking you sim card or something like that, but couldn't find that now. I've downloaded RhodiumW HardSPL and Energy Ron 23121. Can someone just verify that's all I need? From what I found I just run the HardSPL while hooked up via ActioveSync, and it should go from there. Once done I open the rom file and run the Custom RUU file. Am I missing anything?
