Any know when Windows mobile 7 is gonna come out? i tried searchin in the forums and really didnt see much.
nobody knows. Imate has wm7 devices for the end of the year but it probably won't happen.
in case you're wondering, the herald doesn't have the kind of awesome needed to run wm7
Just wondering, Saw some screenshots looked really awesome, Dont know if there the "real thing" but it looked cool
not imate, excuse
i mean mwg, which is essentially XDA in Asia
Here's an older preview of WM7...

I've come from www.mygreatphone.com where im a mod, site contributer and was a techincal ambassador.
Anyway I did a fair bit of work for the Viewty regarding themes etc
Im getting a X1 tomorrow from o2 (hopefully, been trying for weeks) so Im just wondering about development on it as I know its WM 6.1
What language are the panels written in?
Is it easy to hack/modify (customise, remove branding etc)
Has android been put on it yet? I know TouchFlow has but that runs off WM, just wondering if Android as a panel or anything has been worked on?
Is the phone fast, do things load up quick etc
Anything else I should know?

The Deviece is made by HTC. So everything is easy!
Nice
So, is the device brickable?
Ive done some stuff with iPhones and iTouch's too.
Ive managed to brick the iphone, itouch and the viewty but have always got them out of the brick.
Is the X1 brickable permanatly or not? I.e. If I screw a flash up can I get it back or have I lost it forever?
Basically you can brick it. But there are some unbricking solutions in the forum. Anyway I can not say a lot about it as I (luckily) had no neet to unbrick it (yet).
Regarding the panels: SE put together a SDK to develop you own panels...just google for it. I want to try it but have not yet found some time to do so...
EDIT:
Visual Studio 2008 Professional,
Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK,
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1,
Adobe Reader
Damn, I dont have
Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK, or
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1,
Where can I get them from?

I don't know if this has been posted before. But does anyone care to explain?
Sorry, this video is no longer available
What are you talking about? This video still works.
Yup, that is INDEED the Xperia featured in the commercial.
It even says so in the More Info section.
Ahoy!
An XPERIA i see!!!
Maybe this would sound crazy but the music is something like a series...
Like desperate housewifes or Lost....
Strange isn't it....
But maybe if we pray a lot S.E will remember us and re-release the xperia again....
simply seeing the xperia running win7 smoothly is enough for me to be convinced that i will one day have win7 running on my x1a.. yes!! i just hope it's not a disappointment.
There is nothing to see in the video. All there is are two screens. That's all. WM has a loooooooooooooong wayto go. Sorry. I'm loving WM but they're so slow with the development...xda-developers rule!!
Well, i dont really understand what microsoft trying to do here...
They've got 6.5 coming up soon, and yet they are already advertising Windows 7?
I dont know about you guys...i just found it odd for some reason...
Sorry for my bad english
will htc hd get windows mobile 6.5 officially or not please who know any information even if he wasn't sure tell me
There is no information about that, in official information from MS is only three devices at the moment, see http://db.msmobiles.com/Lists/p/windows-mobile-6.5-upgradeable.aspx, but HD is not listed...
I thought that htc officially said that they will not upgrade any phones either released before some date or before the touchpro2/diamond2. Either way, I believe they said that no official 6.5 for htc HD. (I think this was either during CES or GSMA....or some other large congress). Either way, I remember at the same time that they announced that there were already cooked ROMs of wm6.5, which doesn't get released till the summer...lol, that's just how good xda is.
(PS, wm6.5 doesn't impress much, seems like just a filler before 7 comes out. Looks like it got pushed back so they wanted to relase something quick...and hence 6.5)
and take all of the above with a grain of salt
There are some THD users with WM6.5 already. Anyone care toshare with me where to download that?

Exactly two years after the last post my friend, just in case you didn't notice
weird, i havent been able to find this request anywhere on the net.
Can you install windows mobile 6.5 onto HTC magic?
Please tell me if it's possible and I have alot of WM apps I currently use that I would like to continue using.. since there does not seem to be a big 3rd party community yet for Android.
No, there's already posts about this if you search. Win Mobile doesn't support the touchscreens on the Android devices. Have you searched the apps market there's like 6000 and it's growing all the time.

nobody in there right mind would want to.. If you want to run win mo there are better devices out there that are easier to come by & cheaper then a MT3G..
Or you can wait a lil bit longer as the Touch Pro 2 is coming out on Aug 12
I think this has already been discussed in this forum, try searching the board.
I think the capacitive touchscreen was the reason why this was not possible at the moment. WM will be supporting capacitive screens at some point in the future so who knows.
I'm of the opinion that Android is a big leap forward from windows mobile, there is no way I would 'downgrade' my HTC Magic!
...............NO. And why the F would you want to port WM6.5 to an Android hardware phone?? Go buy a Touch Diamond or something then.
sorry man u can't maybe when win mobile 7 "phone 7" officially run .. we can figure out something cause "windows mobile does not support capacity screen yet" we hope it will do soon i have the same concern just like u when i find out something i will tell you cheers
Now that WM7 has been released as of today - is there anyone out here that's going to try to get it to work with our beloved HD2's ???
The WM7 project was killed 2 years ago, so I doubt it was released today.
Are you referring to Windows Phone 7?
obviously...

Is there ever really a need for that? If you don't have anything constructive or
productive to add to somebody's question then don't bother replying. You and your smug attitude should find another spot to troll. I hear the Engadget comment
section is a haven for trolls. Go be among your own kind.
@TechnoHippie I'm glad you asked, that's what I came here for today. I would
love WP7 on my HD2. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Android, I just
can't take this incessant battery drain anymore.
Good question i wouldnt mind trying it out but your too early i believe, i doubt we will see WP7 ports to the HD2 till maybe WP7 phones are released its not as simple as throwing on a rom i believe microsoft built from scratch with WP7 and so the ports to the HD2 if they happen will probably be much like the android builds currently test and fix type of things
I want my windows mobile 7 on my hd2
I WANT MY WINDOWS MOBILE 7 ON MY HD2
I WANT MY WINDOWS MOBILE 7 ON MY HD2
I WANT MY WINDOWS MOBILE 7 ON MY HD2
I WANT MY WINDOWS MOBILE 7 ON MY HD2
Come on guys, you can do it... PUULEEZZZ
I will donate for who develop a WM7 ROM for sure.
Okay people seriously, STOP REVIVEING THESE WP7 ROM THREADS WITH USELESS INFORMATION.
It will be made when its made... no reason to beg. Don't get your hopes up about wp7 on hd2 ... it may not even be able to use market or any of its cloud support if it does got ported, as the devs who have been working on it said that wp7 devices have a unique code that lets Microsoft's servers know its an authentic device. We may not be able to get around that on a wp7 port.
I don't see the big deal about wp7 anyways... I'd rather use winmo and android myself.

I would of agree with you but winmo with Android still needs a lot of work to be satisfied about!!!

Which build are you using? There are a few builds out there that are very stable and are phenomenal with battery life.
MS is totally controlling this thing... sucks...
Wich build are you talking about?

It gets real tiresome wading through thread after thread of doofuses asking the same DUMB questions over and over... and it's even worse when said doofuses asking said dumb questions can't even be bothered to get past their own ignorance about even the name of the product.
Also I see you are a hypocrite, since you added nothing "productive" to this thread except "yeah, me too!" and yet you felt the need not only to post (contradicting your own admonition), but to pass judgments. You can piss right off!

Well, you will NEVER get it. Windows Mobile 7 has not existed for quite some time, since the project was apparently canceled, in favor of a new product known as Windows Phone 7.
Dude he prob was trying to make sure they was talking about the same thing
Well not to kill his dream but WP7 is comming to the HTC HD2 Soon. Here look at the post. It was posted just Yesterday. Looks like your dream will come true.
