Goodbye HTC P4000/Titan - Welcome diamond - Mogul, XV6800 General

I will say goodbye HTC P4000/Titan - welcome diamond
Just want to express myself and let you know that i have chosen to go and close my eyes and buy the new HTC Diamond. Why? Since i love new gadgets and evolution in mobility world. I know that the Diamond doesn’t have a physical keyboard; all is made on the screen. This is made me think alot on usability, sms, email, web, but with all new mods and new intelligent virtual keyboards, i think i won’t miss the physical keyboard and will be able to live, manage without it, i think ;-)
I love this web site and i learned so much with all of you! I hope that all the cool people that manage to hack great rooms and freely, graciously share their work, will one day jump on new device like the diamond ;-)
Do you think i’m doing a bad move or mistake to choose the Diamond for my next phone? What is you comment? Will you stay with the HTC Titan?

Would've waited for the Touch Pro with the hardware keyboard.

Who will replace TOUCH DUAL by DIAMOND

I think all of you have seen the specs of the HTC DIAMOND
Who is going to get the HTC DIAMOND? I'm not going to waist my time waiting for members who have the courage to keep trying making the wifi and gps working. I have to felicitate their efforts but think i'm about to sell my dual to get HTC DIAMOND or HTC TITANIUM(Diamond with 20 keys...not a lot info for the moment)
ps: please replace "by" by "buy" in the poll options
i'd go for a TITANIUM whenever i feel like it
but i do like my sirf iii solar bluetooth gps device and dont miss wifi as i have unlimited web bolt on, BUT, speedy graphics will probably push me over to the diamond side !
I buy via work a HTC Daimond, if its released. We use HTC Units ... most are HTC VOX and Niki.
i'll be keeping my touch dual for sure.
i agree that the diamond is awesome in terms of functionality but why on earth release a pocket pc phone with no SD card ????
there is no way I'm buying this
the only thing that's keeping me from being completely sure that i will replace my touch dual with the diamond is the lack of a 16key hardware keyboard which i have right now.
although if it's true what they say about the HTC Titanium which is supposedly the Diamond with a HW keyboard then that's it, done deal for me.
I hear that HTC is going to provide the drivers for the Kaiser, if that's the case, the drivers for our Touch Duals will soon follow. SO no reason to rush getting the Diamond yet for me. I'll give it a few more months.
I do have a question .... Why are they putting such low mAh batteries in highend devices now-a-days?
The Diamond has 900mah or something like that... It's 3.5g with the highest HSPDA available right now, right? So ... that's like 1 hour on 3g? lol. It's processor is really fast, and that'll eat up the battery. It's graphics are really good, too (from the videos i've seen)... So.... Sedio Ext. batteries anyone?
what i find odd about new htc products in general is that they always have something missing.
for diamond that would be - sd storage + quad band + keyboard
really very frustrating.
I agree with boboduck. If they release a diamond with a keyboard and sd-storage I'll consider buying one. Until then I'll keep my Niki.
The diamond is aimed at a different market than all other HTC phones released to date, its more of a phone to pose with than get out of your pocket at a works meeting. 4GB is plenty of storage for most users and the lack of a keyboard isn't a problem. I don't see people with the iPhone or LG Prada refusing to buy them until they come with a keyboard.
I am buying one because they are aesthetically and technically brilliant, I'm keeping my dual primarily as my day to day phone and my diamond is going to be my going out phone that my friends and other people see me with.
By the way I've pre-ordered mine off Play.com for £429 with free delivery, cheapest Ive seen so far and they are due in stock on the 19th of this month!

It's a marketing strategy. You do not put every feature in one device, because if you do, you have no reason to sell other devices.

As done by most other manufacturers too, Nokia used to never release a complete phone, although you could argue that the N95 8Gb has changed that. Sony Ericsson also release their phones in either the Cybershot camp or the Walkman Camp, but not both.
I do hope someone can cook the touchflo 3D for niki
We will have to wait for these anticipated 3d drivers to come about before manilla is usable on the niki i reckon, the diamond looks to stutter a bit with it and that has got the 3d drivers running!
I'm not holding out much hope really for it running well and i reckon it could be a memory hogging monster, HTC haven't put 192 meg of ram on the diamond for no reason....
i totally agree about the marketing strategy. this is the reason why dual has no wi-fi.
Because if it did, then nobody would buy the elf or vogue.
if htc do however release an all-in-one phone, i think it'll hurt our pockets
i just hope someone can try to put the touch flo 3D in niki
I just pre-ordered from play.com
I havent had it agreed by my wife yet.... eek!
Will keep touch dual. I'am student and have no money for the diamond!
So far I can't find a soft keyboard that is comparable to the hardware keypad for Chinese input. so better stay with Nike.
I voted for replacing my nike with a diamond, but the absence of sd breaks it for me.
A PDA without external storage is ridiculous.

Replacement for my Wizard?

Hi All
Been a long time fan of the Wizard and reluctant to let it go. Alas, she's looking a little shabby, has a few tech issues so I think I will keep it as a dedicated sat nav for the car and treat myself to something else.
I don't really want anything that's bigger than the wizard but I don't want to compromise on the screen size or slide out keyboard either. I would like all other features to be as close to the Wizard as poss too, like the bluetooth, wireless NIC and IR features.
Am I right in saying my only option then is to go for the O2 Xda Stellar or the HTC version?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Advice: hold out for the HTC Diamond or if you can't live without a keyboard, the Touch Pro. That's my plan, at least...
WOW! The HTC Touch pro looks amazing! Thanks for the advice.
I think that looks like the one I'd like, however, O2 are nudging me to upgrade now (they want me to sign for another 12 months of course!) so I think I'll go with the O2 XDA Stellar for now and sell it on then wait for the HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks for the advice.

f posts, should I be worried about buying a Jade?

Hi all,
I've been posting in a couple of other furms about a phone for my GF (I'm currently running a touch HD, - previously a TP, a dimaond, and an Orbit)
I've pretty much settled on the touch 3G for her, but the lack of posts about this phone worries me a little. Is it not a popular phone? it seems to do everything you could ask of a phone (touchscreen, built in GPS, camera) and she likes the size etc.
why does it not seem so popular?
thanks
Hi
I think that the problem of the jade is the small dimension, that in this moment the people don't like.
The people like a "big" dimension (Hd and iphone stile).
It is the best PDA phone I have ever had. (With a new LITE ROM )
I think that it is not so popular because people who would like it bought Diamond or another nice PDA phone just a few months ago. They do not need the new one, especially when it has the same "power" .
I upgraded from Artemis, so the change was worth for me.
I think Jade is mid-entry PDA and it have nothing special e.g. big sceen, good camera, hi quality sound
So people may pick the cheaper one or the rich feature one.
But I really love my Jade, it very suit to me.
I love my Jade too
I have no regret in buying this phone, and after almost 3 months of owning one, still busy customizing my Jade.
I thing that there are not many posts, because in PPC forums discuss usually people whose understand to PocketPCs. Those people usually buy something better than Jade. Touch 3G is really mainstream. It's for everyone.
And maybe it's so good that it hasn't so many problems which than couldn't be discused on forums
I have one for about 3 weeks and I'm really satisfied with it. For it's price it's really good (I'm student so I haven't money on something like Touch HD)
It's simple: The HTC Touch 3G is _not_ being sold in the USA.

Just buy it for her. She'll love it. This is the most VFM pda phone on the market... and the most cute looking.
I'm also having one and I'm absolutely happy with it. What was attracting me was the small size, the design but still having all the nice features...
well, it's here!!
I will spend sometime setting it up for her and installing all the apps I put on the Orbit for her, it actually looks pretty good. Small and need with a decent screen so hopefully she'll love it.
Trying to find a pink skin for it at the mo. Skinit.com have great features and allow you to design your own skin, but they don't support the touch 3G.
Might have to stick with a silicone case for her, not quite as nice but should do the trick.

There are at least 2 pink skins...

Congratulations on making the right decision! Please tell here to enjoy it! It's a great phone! Cheers!
sorry, when I said Skin, I meant a case...
a bit like www.skinit.com, but they don't do the 3G model
I think the main drawback of touch 3G when compared with touch HD is HD has a built-in G sensor, this makes HD can compete with iPhone.

I am not sure, WinMo is something that doesn't appeal to everyone, most people prefer the likes of Nokia or the iPhone. MinMo is more attractive for geeks/people that need office on the move, and a lot of that audience will be attracted by the more powerful larger devices.
For me however I don't want to be carrying around a brick, the 3G is small, unobtrusive and does as much as I need as any WinMo device does.

Touch Diamond 2- Advice

I am wanting to buy a HTC phone, and I am very interested in the Touch Diamond 2. I have a few concerns because i am new to a Windows Mobile OS. Is there a MSN application? And how can you manage social networking on the TD2? In addition how is the Touch Screen? And i would like a decent camera and a workable QWERTY touch keyboard.
And my main point is, is the TD2 the best HTC phone on the market? Or is the Touch HD better?
I really appreciate the advice, thanks.
Hey,
There is a MSN application on the Touch Diamond 2.
As for social networking on the phone, your contacts can be synced to facebook. So your contacts pictures will show up as a display picutre.
The camera is ok but it can't take pictures in dark backgrounds as there is no flash.
I can not comment on TD2 vs THD as I only have a TD2. But they seem VERY similar apart from the screen size.
Hope that helps with your questions.
Man.
-Windows Live-application works fine, for chatting, email, contacts and everything.
-See other thread for facebook-integration, works like a charm, even syncs your friends with ur contacts.
-qwerty is included, most ppl download "finger keyboard" though, which is better.
-The camera isn't all that, but its okay.
so you would definately recommend the TD2 over the Nokia N97 for example?

N97 has a builtin keyboard, the HTC equivalent is the Touch Pro 2, which is a Diamond2 with keyboard
I'd definitely recommend the HTC phones over Nokia, more apps, more customisation.
Do you find phones hard to use? If so, buy a Nokia.
Want apps/modding? Buy HTC/WinMo.
Want apps/modding/open source? Buy Andriod...
Want loads of Apps and a great UI? Buy Apple
Simples!

if ure a normal user, and DONT want to change or install (waste the time) to pimpUpYourPhone and dont want to learn how the software works-
then a Iphone or Android whould be the best for you. (they got basicly a very cool interface and good software incl.)
if ur a person who is more in experience with software and willing to learn it- i'd prefer to a HTC device... (if u knw how- u can install things on your HTC ; that makes the iphone and Android looking like a cheap LG phone )
Nokia N97 is kinda ....määäh.... a "bad quality" thing between.... its standart stuff is still usefull- but also "PimpAble" with serval software/apps
but much ppls are rly disapointed in quality of the device...
for that much money (prize) , u COULD imagine a better quality device...
ofc- android will increase its software / and apps in future
i think android will be together with WindowsMobile and Apple one of the leading devices in future.
may im gonna buy a android phone soon too.
but i think ill wait 1 or 2 years more- till theres enough software / posibilitys out for it...
the next few years will be hard and confuseing anyways for the software market on devices...
if TAT will come out in cooperation w/ developters... lol
www.tat.se
well see....
yep.

HD2 or X2!?

Goodday everybody,
I'm consider to buy the HTC HD2 or SE X2.
I have all ready the X1, what i most like is the keyboard.
Can you guy's tell me what the best choice is to buy!?
Greetings,
Rob
If you like a physical keyboard then why are you even considering an HD2? Stick with your X1, or buy a Touch Pro2, or consider a Samsung OmniaPRO B7610.
Thanks for the reply!
Yep you are true, but the X1 has for me to many faults in it.

Fully agree. I would go for the Samsung.
The X2 is and X1 with an "improved" camera and an upgrade to 6.5. Rest assured that all the faults you got in the X1 are gonna crop up in the X2. Look elsewhere.
I thought I was going to miss the keyboard too, but heck not at all.
Aren't you interested Motorola MILESTONE?
Thanks for all the reply's
I'm reading allot, but don't know jet, and the Motorola MILESTONE doesn't come to the Netherlands
I like the comparing with the Iphone but the X2 isn't compare with anyone.
Greets,
Rob
I moved from Xperia X1 to HTC-HD2
Keyboard on the big HD2 screen is good for me (but 1 year ago the keyboard of the X1 was one big reason to go for the X1)
I want to stick with the xda support

I made the switch from x1 to HD2, id say go with the HD2! the x2 uses similar hardware to x1 which feels so slow and laggy compared to the HD2, sure you lose the hardware keyboard but it wasnt perfect to begin with and id usually pop the stylus out rather then slide the keyboard out because the rotation switch felt too slow
Here's a side by side: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=1932&id2=1783
my friend
the X2 have the same SLOW CPU as the HTC DIAMOND
the X2 is a X1 with only some improvment
go for the samsung omniaPRO B7610
dont even think about the htc touch pro 2 its slow
i mean really slow cause of that CRAP processor
If you absolutely need a keyboard: Get the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610.
If you can live without a keyboard: Get the HTC HD2.
Do NOT buy the X2. It's got the same old, awfully slow processor that has been annoying us for years now. You seriously shouldn't spend money for a device based on that crappy Qualcomm MSM7xxx chipset.
If the keyboard is important to you I'd imagine you'd get annoyed with the HD2 pretty quickly, but it may be worth trying it out for the many other benefits, as if you don't like it, stick it on Ebay and you'll be able to get a Pro2 / Omnia pro / X2 / Milestone for the same money you get from the HD2 sale!
I've got a Pro2, and would highly recommend it if Keyboard is high on your priority list. As far as I know it's the best keyboard on a phone right now, and has the tilting screen too. I think I would miss it too much to get the HD2, but would not be against trying (About a year ago I tried an HD then loved the move back to my trusty Kaiser).
Also I doubt the X2 would be slow; contrary to the two posts above, the Pro2 is not slow. While clearly not as fast as an HD2, it's simply untrue to say the Pro2 is slow for general use. A snapdragon won't help an HD2 user type faster & more accurately than a Pro2 user
