Connecting to urls in emails??? - Networking

I guess this might go in General, but here goes; how do I set up my device to connect to urls in emails or messages or what not. When I click on a link in messages, I get an error message about the application is not set up please run the application first? What do I need to do?
I usually have a connection running so its not the connection.
TIA

Bump?
I'm the only one with this problem? Everyone else can click a link in a message with no problem?

What mail client are you using, and have you added anything that would change the default browser? If your using all default apps, there shouldn't be any problem.

I'm using the default messaging app? So that's what I've been using since day 1. Well I did trial flexmail but wasn't that impressed.

Lets try this...
What is registry string, key or dword to asscociate PIE as the default browser. As well as associating it with certain files ie. .html and the like.
TIA

Newbie question....

Hey. I'm a new owner of a tytn, and everything has been going great with the learning curve. his forum sure has helped! But right now, I have a question that i cross posted in another forum in the hopes that someone can help me....
I wanted to download an attachment or two I sent myself on gmail. I connected to the gmail account via their web interface, and one was a cab file, and one was a zip file. I can see the e-mail fine, and the attchment appears as a link. However, when I right click on the attachment, I do not get the option to download the attachment. It gives me the menu-
select all text
back
refresh page
favorites
add to favorites
full screen
If I click on anything on a webpage, it gives me the option to save that thing. In fact, if I right click on the paperclip indicating that attachment instead of the link, it gives me the option of saving the picture of the paperclip.
Any ideas? is it a limitation of Gmail? Will I need to get push e-mail to be able to get attachments effectively? Or perhaps really use the e-mail functions instead of web based e-mail?
don't know about google but I can download attachments from yahoo mail or hotmail (standard and mobile versions) just fine, could be a google limitation but I believe you can download attachments from google using a third party program like flexmail.
for the record, I got an answer on HoFo... and I quote:
"neo, he's not using Mobile Outlook, he seems to be using Mobile IE to do it.
Blue Puma - what you need to do is enter in the HTML version of Google into the address bar. Go to Gmail on your desktop and click HTML and then email yourself that link. That should work.
Actually, to avoid confusion, here's a link that might work:
http://mail.google.com/mail/h/m6bqty081ipc/?"
it worked like clockwork.

GMail - can send but can't receive

can anyone help? I've setup my gmail account in messaging, and can send to myself and others using messaging (send and receive sends fine), BUT I can't get it to receive! pop and smtp servers are setup ok but when I send and receive I get nothing back. I can logon onto my gmail account and see the email sitting quite happily in my inbox.
any ideas?
Hi, I imagine you already have your issue fixed, but if not, are you allowing pocket outlook to auto config the settings?, I skipped this the first few times when first setting my email up, and it seems I always had something wrong, so I let the auto config do its thing, and it works beautifully with gmail.
well, i've stiil not got it working yet, but i'm going through the auto setup as we "speak". so i'll keep you posted.
MM.
how long does the auto setup normally take? it's been sat at the downloading stage for 30 mins now!
Dont know if youve seen this but theres a new app from google for gmail, its java and i couldnt get it to work but others may have success, anyway you can grab it from http://gmail.com/app (using your mobiles browser)
That app doesn't work with the midlet manager on the TyTn
got the same problem with my gmail and also the same problem with the auto configuration. does anyone have gmail working for both sending and receiving? if so can you post the settings? thanks
And me, I cannot send but receive. I was use defalts setting for gmail. If any one want to set by defalts, you must be online! Can any one resolve my problem?
pop.gmail.com:995
smtp.gmail.com:465
no ssl
no domain
use authentification, outgoing settings same
mine is set to connect and check every 15 minutes, and get headers, and 999kb of body.
I just set up my two gmail addys a day ago, I did a hard reset to fix a few issues, all I do is put in my gmail addy, and password when it asks, and it working in minutes.
I didn't pay special attention to your carriers, but I think I might have had issues when I used medianet [email protected], I pay for the pdaconnect plan now, resco radio wouldn't work on wap either.
I dunno what to tell you for sure, but if any of you use cingular, you might give the [email protected] settings a try, but I wouldn't plan on using them permanently you might get a crazy bill.
I'm sure the other carriers have corresponding settings, and I'm just guessin the problem, but that is the only possible difference in our devices, and I'm not sure about your connection.
edit: I don't think any of you are on cingular, I seen tmobile, but I really don't have any ideas on what all the different carriers offer.
Just make sure in GMail on your c mputer you go to settings, tab forward and pop and set up gmail to forward messages to POP ONLY from now on. If you have a lot of messages in Gmail it will take forever otherwise.
Hope this helps.

Actually found a way to get it to work
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5729.html
Gonna try sky mobile jar using this technique too.
msmobiles.com says that the latest version (6.1) of the IBM J9 JVM for CLDC runs Gmail just fine. Have anyone tried it?
Yes it works, anyone know of a good link to d/l the jar file for sky by mobile
UPDATE
Tried doing sky by mobile app using this method can enter login details but cannot click or use the login key on screen so same as manually installing the jar using default midlet app, very annoying so close yet so far.

Then why mine wasn't able to run Gmailapp until I have installed a Java VM?

You haven't install a Java VM but one more Java VM, which runs Java applications in a different way.

Possibly but it still doesn't answer the question: why was my TyTn unable to run any Java with its shipping OS?

Check hotmail online

I've got a question regarding checking hotmail online.
When I goto www.hotmail.com I can login, it takes a while before I get to my default home screen of Hotmail, but when I click on "Inbox" it doesn't respond and I have to open the link in a new tab; still not the way, but okay. When I'm in my "Inbox" tab and want to click on a message, still nothing happens. I see it selects the message (as it does at the main screen of hotmail when selecting my "Inbox" as well) but it doesn't go further after that. Okay, then the way to open in a new tab then; it just opens a new tab, but with javascipt().... in the address bar....
I know you can check your mail by setting up (or automatically let HD set it up for you) in the device itself, but I don't want to use that feature.
Does anyone else have this problem too, or know what can be done to let this work? Do I have to install a different java application for it, or someting else?
Thanks in advance.

I'm having same problem
Tried Hotmail Mobile?
mobile.live.com/hm/folder.aspx
Also, try editing your "Reading pane settings" in the Options, see if any of those other settings help you.

Yes, I've tried Hotmail Mobile as well, and that works. The normal html version still not.

I also performed a hard reset yesterday, and it's a little diffent now: I can get into the main screen, can even select my inbox, it redirects correctly, but if I want to select a message now, it doesn't do anything... strange... Before the reset, I was able te open it in a new tab by holding the link, but not anymore....
I've also seen it at another site(s), but don't which one that were. But it would be nice that it will work fine as well. So it has nothing to do with Java or something like that?

(G)Mail & Attachments

Hello everyboy.
I have setup a Gmail account through the Microsoft Outlook client on the phone. For some reason I cannot seem to be able to download any attachments. If I tap on the files I can see they are downloading, but then nothing happens! If I tap on the file again it seems like it downloads again.. but with no luck. If I then go through the file manager and look for the (supposedly) downloaded files I cannot find them anywhere.
Any ideas?

When you are using Gmail through ActiveSync (m.google.com) Attachments not being delivered is a known bug at Google.
When using IMAP/POP3, they should download fine. Are your download settings set to downloading all attachments?

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, my settings are set to download all attachments.
What's the difference between using Gmail through ActiveSync and using a standard IMAP/POP3 setting?

When using ActiveSync, you get push-mail (but no attachments from non-gmail senders as long as the bug isn't fixed) For info on this particular bug, see: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=6fdf9db207ba49d4&hl=en
Using IMAP/POP3 gives you regular e-mail access. No Push-mail, but you can set the device to sync every xx minutes/hours.
Hey tomasz, you were right! I set up a different account through standard IMAP settings and now it works like a charm! Thanks a lot for your help.
Now how can I delete the Outlook Active Sync email I have previously configuered?
Actually, I managed to delete the account on my own:
Start --> Tools --> ActiveSync and then I unchecked all the options. As a result it deleted the mailbox.

Emoze - Unable to connect to server

Hi
I am trying to set up an account using Emoze.
I have downloaded the WinMo Client and installed no issue on my phone. However, when I try to set up an account I get the following message "Currently server is not available. Please try again later". This has been an issue since Xmas day.
I have deleted the app and reinstalled a number of times but always with the same result.
Has anyone else been able to set up an account?
Would someone be willing to check for me please?
I have attached the cab file below. You will not need to actually set anything up, if you click add account and then get to the next page without the error message, you've got further than me and I'll know that there is something wrong with my device!
I am using ROM 1.61.
Would really appreciate any help!
On a seperate note. I'm trying to use this to access my OWA account as ActiveSync has been disabled by my company. I have also tried Seven but have not been successful setting up an account.
Does anyone know of any other service that allows you to access emails via OWA when AciveSync has been disabled. I found Chronobis but it only supports one way i.e. you cant delete emails from your phone and have them delete in your exchange server. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
I've been able to use EMOZE on my HD2 to access the company's OWA since i've got it. I've actually installed in few times since i kept on changing my ROM version till i found one i was fully happy with.
Let me know what it is your doing exactly and i'll try to help you out.
Still waiting for your response on what to do with emoze
Just sent you another reply via your email, and have attached a snapshot of both my OWA and my POP3 account configured on my HD2.
