Hi,
I recently purchased an XDA Orbit 2 with a broken screen and replaced the screen with a new one. The problem I am getting on starting up from a soft or hard reset is the graphics are very faded and very low resolution. Once started up the graphics return to normal after switching off then on again using the on/off switch.
Its no great problem as the graphics are fine once started up but I wondered if anyone else has come across a similar problem.

Thanx for reading this.
same problem
i've just had the same problem:
the screen fades to white if i turn it to the "mini laptop" position. turn it to pda position and the display works fine. no problems with orienting the screen or touch sensitivity, either. turn it around to work with the keyboar, and the image dissapears.
advice, anyone?
I have the same problem.
i purchased my machine about 4 months ago and all of a sudden the screen turns WHITE in minilaptop mode. Fixing it is either powering off and on or alternatively flipping the screen to PDA mode.
I've searched through 'White screen' and have seen many complain about the same problem. Amazingly not even one relevant solution to this problem. This is not a software problem, it is obviously an hardware issue. I am willing to open my O2 Exec and try to fix it, as it looks like a bad connection or something.. but i need some guidlines. There are alot of people with that problem, anyway please help.
My XDA developed this dreaded syndrome last night! I did a search too and no solution...
I don't want to open it up as I've only had the XDA for 2 months. Do you think o2 will replace it with a new one as I took it out on a contact (business) with them?
send it to be fixed
unfortunately in my case it was a hardware problem - the internal screen connector had to be replaced (and now the screen feels looser on it's hinge)...
at least it's covered by the warranty.
anyone found a solution? Mine happened on the weekend after having it for 4days only. Unfortunately i bought it brand new on ebay so i cant send it to o2. Any help woud be appreciated.
apparently, this is not a hardware issue
This has just happened my xda as well. I switched it off last night and put it by the bed.... Switched it on this morning and nothing but a white screen. This is crazy. I was reading a book in landscape mode last night and did nothing with it except switch it on this morning... And a white screen in landscape mode when I woke up. What could have happened during the night for chrissakes! Very disappointed. Anyone know where i can get a new ribbon for the lcd? It will probably cost an arm and a leg!
Are there anyone still working on solving this problem?
Mine got the same problem now and it is out of warranty.. I dun wanna spend a fortune on fixing it .
THanks
Hi Everyone,
Ive recently purchased a prophet that had a broken lcd screen. I took apart my O2 XDA Mini and switched the screen around with the prophet, as they both use the same screen from what I am aware.
The prophet booted all okay but the screen quality/ resolution is not showing up correctly.... the thing is ive tested all the functions in the device and everything is working as it should be. Hard reseted the prophet took it apart to ensure that the screen to the mainboard was secured and all is fine.
Does anyone have any ideas i could try or know of the problem? will a rom upgrade help?
Thanks!
Okay so just skimming through the forums on cracked screens, it appears that it may be a problem with the ribbon.
I've read something about gold and silver/black ribbons, the two types appear to be the same physically but different in type.
If someone could enlighten me in this i would greatly appreciate it.
Okay just thought i'd update that i replaced the lcd screen with a second gen lcd and that did the job....
Although everything works and seems fine... the screen does appear slightly off colour nothing major but it is more noticeable when in camera mode.
Does anyone or has anyone experienced anything similiar... input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Hi,
I am having a peculiar problem with my screen. For most of the screen the alignment is perfect except for a particular region of my screen [the portion near the "New" button at the bottom left] has got a different alignment. I have tried to run the screen alignment software several times and hard booted my device several times but no luck.... The screen is not broken nor any portion of the device. I have being using this device for 2 years now and i had no problems yet, but this is a very wiered problem whose resolution i tried to find in many xda forums but no luck... Does anybody have any idea what might be the problem. Do i need to change my screen or chuck the phone
One more thing, We dont have a XDA repair center in Mumbai, India... Does anyone know a good shop where i can get my XDA repaired!!!!
Thanks in advance

OK I have had my T-mobile Wing aka HTC Herald since last April.
Just a few days ago I encountered a problem with my lcd. And I would like your guys feedback if possible before I purchase an lcd replacement.
My problem is when I slide open the wing my screen starts to fade, (almost making it look like a negative from a picture) after that it starts to fade to different colors.
Now the problem persists when the phone is closed, however if I tap the top of my wing and hold it the screen becomes normal, but once I let go it starts to fade again.
I would like to know if any of you experienced this with ur phone and if a replacement lcd screen will fix the problem or am I sol?
If it helps im running my wing on Open Touch v6.0 WM 6.1 Build 20273.1.3.3
Thanks in advance.
LCD problems
Hello,
I too have some weird LCD problems and instead of creating a new thread I thought of posting in this one.
For the past few months, whenever I get a call or resume my phone from standby mode using the power button the entire screen goes white or sometimes it has green or blue colored lines all over them. I have to keep on pressing the power button few times to get proper display. Also whenever I open the qwerty keyboard the display goes blank. Since I am out of warranty Tmobile is not ready to replace the phone and I contacted the HTC customer service and they told that the display unit and some hardware stuff is gone and it needs to be replaced and will cost a minimum of 170$ and will increase if they had to replace some other hardware.
Please note that, my screen is NOT broken and the touch screen too works fine. Recently the display has gone completely blank or too faded even to see whats there in the screen I could barely see the today screen.
I searched and I did not find any similar issues that other folks have faced. Since the LCD and the touch screen is not broken replacing them is not going to fix the issue, correct? I was using open touch and recently I updated the latest official Tmobile release of ROM 6.26.xxx. I also tried the hard resets too.
Any other ideas/suggestions will be of great help for me. Thanks in advance.
I am having some similar problems as well, but my problem is much more severe. My screen is completely black and it just happened this past weekend. When i slide the phone the screen used to flicker but now it black as well. Phone works fine but is useless due to the fact the the screen is out. I remember seeing a program where you can interact with your phone via your pc when something was wrong w/ your screen (cracked, broken, etc.) I have searched the forum but to no avail. The program was very simple and effective. I plan on replacing my phone but would like to retrieve some info off the one I have. I just need that program! Anyone please HELP US!

i have the same problem with the WHITE SCREEN. bought my ELF 3450 second hand over the net. i am from the Philippines by the way and HTC units are not yet very common here and also the parts/accessories. it worked fine for about 3 months with minor problems such as Auto-Restart/Auto Power On/OFf which was solved using the "plastic on the OMAP chip method" - tnx for the forum for the info by the way and charging problems which was also solved by buying me a aftermarket charger. but recently the problem of AUTO OFF occurred again until it did not work at all. so, i tried to check the Plastic over my chip but to no avail the fone was dead. so, i decided to head to one of our local cellphone repair shops and have my OMAP heated thinking that maybe there are just contact points inside who became loose. when we tried to power on it was good for a few minutes then i noticed the screen went darker and darker and then it was all WHITE. we restarted it but it's just WHITE. tried to send messages and call it but there is no response from the fone. i'm afraid i toast it bad or may be it's just the LCD who got toasted, i am clueless.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME WITHMY PROBLEM. CAN I GIVE LIFE BACK TO MY ELF? WHAT'S THE CHEAPEST & BEST SOLUTION TO THIS? THANX ...
Generally white screen problem are caused by defects in flex connecting the LCD to the mainboard or the connector itself. Try to disconnect and reconnect the LCD, if doesn't work - replace the LCD.

You warmed the OMAP? Interesting....
This problem sounds really complicated.
And im quite surprised of your 'warming' method.
I've had the exact same problem combined with the fact that my touch was resetting constantly. I was about a minute away from throwing it out of the window when I tried the plastic-piece-on-omap processor-technique described in one of the threads here. It solved the rebooting problem, but not the white screen issue. After a very frustrating couple of days where the screen started to blink and shake and then eventually turned to white alltogether, I lowered my brightness to the second stop from start, and since then I haven't experienced the white screen anymore. I believe it is heatrelated.
Whilst not being a full solution to the problem, at least it renders the phone usable.
Hope this helps anyone.
Heating the device very seldomly solves anything, but causes more problems that you originally started with.
iam using htc touch (p 3450) for nearly 18 months . (bought & using it in india ) my hand set fell two times in water and about 15 times fell on the floor (from shirt pocket) . still its working fine .
and iam using "opera mini " for browsing the internet . for some sites iam using "opera mobile " . when iam on opera mini , continueously for long ours , suddenly it turns white . never come to normal screen unless restarted . but it happens sometimes , may be because of memory or heating up of some H/W .
Hi hotchamo,
my htc touch elf hat a similary issue, and my father just "wringed" it gently until the white screen disappeared. You should try it carefully, since it may help and it won't harm. Just take in in both hands and turn them in the opposite direction, so that the case gets slightly twisted.
If that doesn't help you should open it and check the LCD flat cable connector...
Best regards,
scheutak
Again - flex connector problem. 'Wringing' it gently will eventually result in your LCD cracking, by all means - go for it, it will solve your white screen problem. Permanently.
