I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck running either of these GPS Map Guiding applications. I have tried both and they run ok, but due to a high lack in ROM, it freezes 75% percent of the time. Especially during route recalculation. I have done everything possible to maximize RAM for it, but no luck. Just want to know if anyone is running either smoothly and what do you do to get it to run good.
Thanx

Any Help
Some people have success with iGo 2008 on the Mogul, so please how do I do to get this to run on mine please. It eats up RAM like it's candy. It freezes all the time.

My MioMap V.3 on my mogul used to run just fine with the htc 3.35 rom. But with the newer rom 3.56, it couldn't find the gps and freezes whenever I try to specify the settings. IGo8 has the same problem. Tomtom/garmin work well though. Anyone know what is the potential problem? Thanks.
Thanx
Well, in as much as this thread has little response, thanx for your input though. In my case, its just the RAM, it freezes even before the program loads. Even if it is the first program I start after soft resetting it. iGO 8 and MioMap 3, all the same.

hey Damionix, did you fix that problem? I too have the same problem. There must be some wrong settings or missing settings that we have to add maybe to sys.txt file or something. Also everytime i install igo8 runs nice but when i change gps port to 4, ram usage skyrockets and now i cant even get to the main screen(it stuck at "STARTING"). I also disabled aGps in the registry but to no avail.
o and im using dcd 3.2.2 rom
I have IGO8, Tom Tom7 and Garmin XT running with very large maps on my Titan and they all run fine. I am using the latest (June) release of the 3.56.xx Rom
Only other program I have running in the background is SPB Mobile with greatbal's gsmart theme.
I have heard loading all the USA maps for IGO8 at the same time may bog down your ram from the POI build - so I limited to just about 8 contiguous states for me, I'll add more if I go outside that limit. For Tom Tom I have the 2 GB North America map and for Garmin XT I have the following combined into one map - the full NT 2009 North America, a couple of state topo maps and the Gulf of Mexico Blue water map.
I'm using an SDHC 8gig card - thats where I loaded all the programs - I have used Mio Map 3.3 but deleted it for IGO8
Mule
im using the latest rom from sprint 3.56 on HTC mogul
to run igo 8 i have to disable all my today screen items. except battery status as that is how i check how much ram i have left and i use the little operator button to link to the task manager
anyways after i disable all my today screens items and do a soft reset, i have about 24mb ram free. and i even uninstalled s2u2 cause i didnt want to have to close it all the time just to use my gps hehe
igo 8 starts up just fine. no lag.. if i minimize, i see that i have about 8mb free.. untill i start using the map then itll drop down to about 1.5mb-3.0mb free. basicly i cannot open any other programs or it will freeze. altho i am using GPSgate(do a search here) to get igo to even see my gps, that program only uses about .4 mb ram
ive only had it freeze before i figured out i needed GPSgate and when i get a phone call.. i was still able to talk but it froze igo8 and had to do a soft reset after the conversation.
i had 1 low memory warning and it was before i found GPSgate and activesync was running
im also using this tip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405137
i also set all my 3d settings to off or low

how did you make your Mogul detect the GPS on Miomap.. mine keeps on searching for comm ports w/o any success.
Can you please post the manual GPS configuration?
any tips on this will be gratefully appreciated.
I use the June 24th release of iGO8. It works pretty well for me even with TTS!
Here is what worked for me....
First I set up WM to have the max free RAM that I could. Im not even going to get into that but lets just say you want at least 22MB free to launch IGO and have it work decently. If you can get to 25-26MB free you can even use the TTS feature pretty well.
Here is what I did to iGO. I run it with all 50 states in the USA and all the buildings and terrain.
First install it on your storage card.
then go to iGO8 on your storage card and...
-delete branding.zip
-copy data.zip to your pc unzip it and delete every resolution you do not use in ui_igo8. you should be left with 240_320 or 320_240 depending on how you want to run it. keep both if you will be switching between portrait and landscape (but its best to choose one and delete all of the rest). Now take your modified data folder and rezip it with no compression naming it data.zip. Back up your original data.zip and move the new one back on to the storage card.
-delete tahoma.ttf and tohamabd.ttf and replace them with the same fonts from \windows.
-delete all the voices you will not use from \iGO8\content\voice and \iGO8\tts_loq if you are using TTS
-now edit your sys.txt file ...for portrait mode your file to look like this:

I have tried both on my Sprint Mogul with dcd 3.26 and neither are working right. Both freeze up at the menu screen, whether simple or advanced, the next screen it locks.
I have 23.7M (or so) of free RAM after a soft reset. I've let it sit on that menu for 5 minutes straight, wondering if it were catching up. No good.
I have TomTom7, but I want something with text to speech support.
The first time you run Igo or Oncourse it goes thru your contact list and checks the address on all of them. If you have a very large contact list it could be causing it to act very slow. It only does this once, so after it finishes it won't do it again in the future.
You might also check your config file, I think it's called sys.txt, would have to search to verify, but it lists your com ports. If you have an invalid com port for your GPS it can lock up entirely. Find this file and change it to com 4 baud 4800 and then restart it, should work fine then.
Let me know if that doesn't work. I've started Igo with as little as 8mb free, it ran, tho not very well and crashed shortly afterwards, but with 23mb it should run very well. So I don't think it's a memory issue in your case.
BTC
groovy. I'll sys.txt it up and report back.
getting there.... trying different combinations of ... packages ... see what works and what doesnt.
Can you mix OnCourse with iGo?
As far as I know, OnCourse is just a licensed OEM of of Igo, I've heard that the maps, skins, themes, etc all work fine with both.
I personally haven't tried OnCourse because the word I heard was that it's a compressed .exe file which in turns requires more ram to uncompress and then run. There were several looking into uncompressing the exe file and running directly, but have not seen any confirmed threads that someone has it resolved.
BTC
yeah, im avoiding an actual install of oncourse... however, what I have, has some things in it that my igo doesnt have, as well as US poi's which my igo doesnt have. More experimenting tonight.
I too was having an issue with IGO8 not starting properly, I could enter the program but none of the icons would function.....well not really.....I would click settings and about 30 seconds later I would hear the click sound but IGO would stay at that screen and then about 1 minute later it would goto the settings screen.
After doing some research I did find that it was an issue that IGO had with
adding my contacts addresses(I'm guessing that this is a ram issue). Here is what I added to the sys.txt file to stop IGO from trying to add my contacts to its POI DB, disable_outlookpoi=1 needs to be added under [debug]. I'm pretty sure I found a sys.txt config on ppcgeeks in the vouge section.
I cannot get the TTS to work as it appears that our Titans don't have enough ram to allow all of the features of IGO to work.
I have installed DCD latest with a couple of programs installed i.e. MSVC, Oxios, DCD carrier cab(great work DCD, every rom he makes just keeps getting faster and allowing more ram to be utilized) at boot I have about 23-24mb available, when starting IGO and then minimizing IGO I have 1.3-1.4MB free ram. When trying to select the Susan TTS voice it immediately crashes with an out of memory error. I'm also using the full maps of North America, all the building files and the terrain file for USA as well. When I get a chance I'm going to try only my state and my states buildings and see if that frees up any additional ram for TTS.
Good luck
i have noticed that it wont run unless I prime the GPS, even with the [gps] code in the sys.txt

I have found the same thing, I've attached a .zip file that someone created that will give you a shortcut for astroGPS to prime the GPS and also start IGO8. You must have astroGPS installed but it works like a treat.
anyone figure out how to setup tts with any tweaks or removing some default programs for more ram? I installed dcd latest rom with nothing else but igo8 and still get that out of memory :/ Also i have igo running with no terrain and in 2d mode with no luck
So is anyone able to get Text to Speech (TTS) works on Titan?
I recently bought MN7. Happy with the new features proposed by the version 7, I was really excited to try the new soft.
Unfortunetly, impossible to get a fix with the satellites...
I called the support today, and unfortunetly, our loved diamond isn't compatible with the new soft of navigon !!!!
If anyone has news about that, please let us know...
Actually, I found a solution !!!!
The com port used by mn7 don't stay open during the application's running.
It is necessary to get a program such as Gps Test, or Poi Observer.
The program will keep the com used by the internal gps open.
It would be then possible to have mn7 working perfectly !!!
(Add manual port 4)
Input Port com4; baud 57600, Output com6 (push on add button). Button start splitter and OK
MN7 GPS settings : port com6: portsplitter (baud 56700).

i write a simple script to run mn7. it works perfect. and you don't need to run another programm bevor mn7.
but you have to install mortscript (http://mort.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view&menu=29)
please check the path to your mn7 installation:
Run("/internal memory/NAVIGON/MobileNavigator.exe")
the script deactivate tf3d (if it is running) and rotate the screen. after quitting mn7 it do some other nice things ;-)
here ist the script. enjoy:
# Toggle TF3D and run Navigator

If (manilastate)

Hi, try to change the registry as follow
HKLM/SYSTEM/Currentcontrolset/GPSIntermediateDriver/Drivers/GPSoneDevice/pollintervall=3000
To change the registry you will need a software that can edit the registry.
Then in MN7, when you configure your GPS it's COM4 and 4800 bauds
This is my configuration and it work perfectly on my diamond since 2 months now (realityview included).

Indeed, works for me too.
Update
or you download the most current version from the navigon homepage. don't ask me why, but they put the update under tryAndBuy.
here is the german link:
http://www.navigon.com/site/de/de/products/navigation_software/windowsmobile_pda#tryAndBuy
it works with the diamond and hast bigger icons.

Does anyone have any idea what makes MN7 work perfectly in landscape with realityview? Because I've downloaded the trial and it works fine in portrait. But when I tilt the screen to landscape, before or after starting MN7, it shows a cut off version of the portrait interface..
Edit: it works fine in landscape. I just had to rotate the screen and wait a bit longer before starting MN7. When I have the chance to testdrive some more I'll see if and how Realityview works..
Oh, and another question.. The Windows application on XP can't install the MN7 navigation software on my Diamond. It gives an error saying I should insert an empty 2 GB memory card in the PC card reader and it notes that I should connect my PDA directly to the PC, so it can detect it as a removable disc.
ActiveSync is connected through USB to the Diamond, but that error keeps popping up. In the end I just copied everything that seemed relevant from the PC to the Diamond and ran the install05.CAB from ..\inst\software\2577. MN7 now works in portrait, but I'm wondering if there is a 'correct' install procedure for the Diamond? I'll contact Navigon support as well.

Realityview works great if you start MN7 in landscape! It's been a real help to choose lanes in time.
But I still have problems getting Fresh to recognize my Diamond. Maybe because it isn´t in the list of HTC devices during registration. I had to chose a Pro to complete registration and get my activation code. Now I can´t update my software and maps with Fresh.
Does anyone have Fresh recognize and connect to their device. If so, how? Navigon support has a hard time understanding the problem.. Thanks!

Hello all,
Ia lready post a similar request in the iGO area but in my opinion the problem may be of general interest since ut regards the GPS settings of touch hd.
I have iGO8 on my HD (italiam TIM Rom) and I have a problem.
Often, the dot that represents my current position does not coincide with that of the arrow. Many times if this small dot falls on a side street, the system behaves as if I had actually embarked on this cross and the screen changes to the new direction. Of course, then everything is restored but at times the screen seems crazy.
With TomTom 7.915.9196 everything is OK, is fluid, it can determine with great accuracy my position, also lock really fast, no lag.
The photo-gps of my HD have very precise coordinates. So I conclude that GPS is OK.
The same problem was found from an Omnia user that solved by changing the properties of GPS from a "Standalone" to "MS-Based" in his device.
This is my sys.txt file (I have iGO8 installed in the SD card).

I also tried uninstall/reinstall, different release of iGO8, hard reset, etc
I don't understand why my GPS works very well with camera (geotagging) and with other software like TT7 and doesn't work with iGO8. In my opinion, but it is only a sensation, I have to modify some internal GPS parameters but I don't know how to do this and if it is possible.
try update with new official rom it also has update for GPS

** Don't ask/pm me for files or where to d/l **
Since someone PM me for iGO 8 config, I just share my exp & config in case anyone find it useful.
**TTS is very sensitive to Virtual Memory. (Please noted it's not the available memory you see at Settings > memory. So you may see 90mb+ available memory there but still not able to get TTS) and resource at IGO "startup" time (but doesn't matter after it started and working).
1. Make sure the rom use the slots wisely and give you enough VM (22mb+), U should ask your cook for detail.
2. Make sure you don't have **** load of craps at startup (/Windows/startup. HKLM/init, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher, etc)
3. Make a full backup and disable unnecessary services/devices with Dotfred task manager. Personally, I don't need USSD, IPV6, Ipsec, ...etc)
4. Soft-reset maybe a good idea if you already run X1 for a long time.
5. "No Today Plugin" w/ AE Button Plus is very handy to deactivate/activate TF3D and free up some resource. There are mortscript to automate this in some thread.
My Steps:
1. optional: start BT and connect your A2DP audio system (JVC BT-1 in my case) in case you want the TTS and phone call goes to yr audio system.
2. run Igo8
3. After Igo8 is started and TTS is working. Minimize Igo8 by "End Call" button. Then start your fav music program (Core Player 1.24 in my case).
4. run Igo8 again to bring up iGO8 from minimize. And my music play (Play/pause/FF/RW) is controlled by AVRCP
My current config: X1i/a running my custom 3.2Full ML rom
iGO8: 8.3.2.90500(PNA version, the ONLY version works for both PDA contact and TTS).
Skin: Trimmed (since I don't need squared screen suppport) & modified (laneinfo_signpost.ini for bigger freeway sign post) v10 from LZF.

Thanks for sharing this, I can do it myself but I'm sure it helps a lot of people.
However I'm concerned about the eprformance, so here are two suggestions:
1) set this
Code:
enable_3D_buildings=0
instead of enable_3D_buildings=1 , to disable 3d buildings since it's slow.
2) use speedbooster 2.0, and increase the priority of iGo8.exe . It seems to load maps and search faster and the interface drawing is smoother.

Need some help
Hi i have install igo8 in my xperia but when i open the file it stated
Fated error
Initialization error: no voice files were found.
Can someone pls guide me Thx
guys what about german devices ? its not %SDCARD% i got SPEICHERKARTE/IGO8
is this true config ?
after this i changed, my device is starting IGO8 for the first time, but after it breaks imidiantley up.. like an error !
THE START SCREEN APPEARS AND I GOT ON THE RIGHT UNDER CORNER INIT API MSG !
somebody knows some more ? or could help me ?
Very nice iGo8 config. Thanks for that.
Btw is there any way to keep the current map zoom when locating my GPS position. I mean when I scroll and zoom, and than I want to find my current GPS position, click on the button for that, I loose my current zoom, and go to a much lower one, where I can't see the streets.
Anyone any idea?

My current config: X1i/a running my custom 3.2Full ML rom
iGO8: 8.3.2.80621 (PNA version), and the EXE of v8.3.2.73871 (PDA version) on the same directory just for import Outlook contacts addresses for PNA version.
Skin: Trimmed (since I don't need squared screen suppport) & modified (laneinfo_signpost.ini for bigger freeway sign post) v10 from LZF.

Can you please tell me what you did to make the signposts bigger?
On my device (Touch pro 2) the signposts are about 3/4 of the screen and I just cannot find any solution to make them smaller!

I change to signpost_font_size=30. U can play around w/ the padding setting as well
Great post, these settings fixed things for me and gave me some ideas - thanks
I have an AT&T Tilt2 and I installed OCN8 v8.3.2.97313 (via the 8GB SD card), but the TTS voices do NOT work! Only the non-TTS voices work.
When I click on any TTS voice in the settiings I get the "Please wait..." popup for a few seconds and then nothing (i.e., no sample "Have a nice trip. Drive carefully" message).
I tried hard reset and reinstalling, but it just doesn't work.
Anyone out there got it working? If so, what do I need to fix?
Thanks!

I dont have answer for you but I have the same problem with iguidance 2009. Every thing orks fine but not the TTS. Still looking for a solution. I hope the same solution will for both.
tried everything also for hours and my tts voices wont work. they still work fine in my fuze using the same sd card. The fuze is also running wm6.5 so I think its a tilt2 problem.
Me, too, I tried so many, many hacks for hours on end but last night I offically gave up.
First, support told me to do a hard reset and that, of course, didn't do anything. Today they just asked me to confirm folder sizes for the tts_loq and voice folders. My sizes match what they told me they should be, so let's see what's next.
Out of curioustuy I put my sd card in my neighbors tmobile tp2 and the tts voices work fine. So they work in his, and also in my fuze running wm6.5 but not the tilt 2. Hope someone figures it out. Looking at the cdma forums it seems tts is also working on other carriers tp2s but not the gsm tilt2 again. It has to be something fixable.
These sys.txt settings worked for Igo8 on my ATT Tilt 2: THREAD

THE ANSWER: It is the available RAM. Disable TF3D and any other program BEFORE you run iGO8 and it should work.
Here is the bandaid from PPCGEEKS.COM:

I have a custom mort script that will turn off TF3D, run CleanRam (I have custom process enabled to exit Opera and Tmail within CleanRam), then run Igo8. Once you are finished with Igo and you exit, TF3D will restart. This took some testing, but this works everytime with the high quality TTS voices. I have had no issues. I have posted the code below, this will work on your device providing that you install CleanRam to your "device" and your IGo program is listed as "\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe". These HQ TTS voice issues baffled me for months, but now they work consistently without a soft reset.
Again this code will stop TF3D, Run CleanRam, Start Igo... then when you exit iGo it will restart TF3D.
manilastate=ProcExists("manila.exe")
If (manilastate)
Kill("biotouch.exe")
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",0)
RedrawToday
endif
RunWait("\program files\htcaddicts cleanram\htcaddicts_cleanram.exe")
RunWait("\storage card\iGO8\igo8.exe")
Sleep(5000)
Kill("Repllog.exe")
While ( ProcExists("igo8.exe") )
IdleTimerReset
Sleep(500)
EndWhile
If (manilastate)
RegWriteDword ("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\TouchFLO 3D","Enabled",1)
RedrawToday
Run("\windows\biotouch.exe")
endif
I have attached the script to run with mort script. I hope others can benfit as well. Good luck and enjoy!

I have added this iGO script to the MortScript.cab posted here. You need it and CleanRAM.cab. Install both to the device, not the SD Card. Then just click on the Plain iGO Scipt icon in the Start Menu.
I got my card back from OCN support today and I was able to free up 115 MB of RAM.
The good news is that TTS voices are finally working on my Tilt 2.
The bad news is that only the Spanish TTS voices are working!!!! Arggghh!
The English US Dave and Susan are not working at all. I've tried using some files I downloaded previously (Dave v1.74, Susan v1.84) and they are also not working.
Any ideas? Since the other TTS voices are working, it definitely had to do with memory, but this problem seems specific to those voice files.
Thanks!
Ok, solved...the files were fine.
I was able to kill some more processes and got 121MB free and the voices worked. Therefore, it was purely a RAM problem.
Obviously the Susan and Dave voices required more RAM than the Spanish ones which worked with 114MB free.
Update: I was able to get the Susan and Dave TTS working with even under 114MB free, by just killing the voicecmd.exe process.
So as it turns out, Voice Command, somehow, was interfering with those two TTS voices.
Thanks to MortScript, I now use it to kill Voice Command, launch OCN8, then relaunch Voice Command when OCN8 exits.
Thanks for the script and all the tips, lokmeup! Much appreciated!
