I mean by service messages the ones send from service providers like was push or web link or the ones telecoms send as a message to send you wap setting or gprs settings
if you can send those types of sms from any phone it's pretty odd that the world is not filled with virus's that delete mms settings and gprs settings and then resend them to something else
so my guess is no

actually, there were a lot of cases of this happening, with people being sent csd settings that go through premium rate numbers, this is why an alternate type of setting was created, which requires the user to enter a pin into their phone. Although most phones have always required user intervention, but most users are click-happy muppets.
sending wap/mms settings is a relatively straight-forward process, the best place to look is www.nowsms.com, who produce an application to do just this, through either a gsm modem/phone or a bulk operator like clickatell
My hermes has stopped sending/recieveing mms messages since i got back from the UAE.
Ive tried to input the settings from the website but strangly the server isnt being listed in the servers tab (tools, options, mms, servers) but the set as default key does change from grayed out once ive added the details.
Anyone got any idea whats happening here and how i might fix it?
Cheers
(BTW im running WM5)
I have a tmobile cab file which will enter ALL the tmobile settings for you.
I use it for after a HR on roms which arn't tmobile specific.
the only thing that it does a little wierd is it tries to set the MMS outgoing service to use the WAP connection rather than the GPRS connection.
this is an easy thing to put back right thought.
I can send it to you if you think it might resolve your problems.
regards
Tony.
PM me if you can't find it.
Thanks for the offer but i took the opportunity to upgrade to WM6 with the offical tmob rom.
Cheers any way
Ok, heres the deal. I have had my MDA for about 8 months now, and havent been able to figure out how to change the mms settings. I spent about an hour on the phone today with tech support for my phone company, and they think my phone is locked out(its not using a t-mobile sim). I have all the settings that I need to put in, it just wont let me create a new MMS account. What do I need to do to this thing to make it work? I tried searching the forums, but the results I get are too numerous to find anything....
Please help me!
What Cellular company and what version of Windows Mobile are you running?
Got a Tmobile MDA(wizard) unlocked working on ATT with WM5.1.195. i wanna set it up to recieve MMS... got the info i need to set it up but i cannon add a new MMS setting and the tmobile setting under the MMS configuration screen wont let me add a new one the new button is shadowed/grayed-out... is there a .cab file i can use to fix this prob. if not how do i get it to let me imput the new data

My cellular company is IWireless, its a small carrier in Iowa, it works off of the T-Mobile network for nationwide, however, the MMS settings are off their own network. Im currently using the 2.26 T-mo rom again. I tried a WM6 rom(it was a TNT one), and the phone began acting extremely strange.. texts would get lost, I couldn't receive some calls, and I wouldn't get voice mail notifications... however, I could send and receive MMS (once I had the phone configured right)
I tried the CAB trej3k posted, and it didn't work. I have all the settings that I need to input into the phone, its just that I cant modify the settings in the MMS settings tab(the buttons are grayed out)
For now, I think I can live with having my phone, and no MMS, however, I would like to find someway to modify the phone still using the T-Mo 2.26 rom(works best with my carrier). Any ideas?
If you're willing to give it a try, install a newer ROM of your choice, and then replace your Radio ROM with one of the T-Mobile ones. I know you still want to retain your original ROM, but choosing a vanilla ROM with a low WM build number can usually get you a pretty stable device.
I'd recommend the UK 2.19 for you, it usually minimizes Missed calls, even on the US T-Mobile network.
I dont think that I can be doing any worse than what I have been for the last week... I was beginning to wonder why nobody was calling me, checked my voicemail, and I had 12... the phone never alerted me that I had voicemails(or that anybody called)...
There is no way, I take it, to work a way around T-mo's block on the MMS settings without flashing a new rom(again)?
Hi,
I have a problem with sending/recieving MMS.
I know that this question was raised here million times, but for the last hour I was searching here, googling around the net...and no solution I found worked for me.
APN settings for MMS are correct, I tripple checked that. Tried many variation, change few settings, but no luck.
I read somewhere that when wifi is on, MMS wont work. But wifi is usually off in my case.
Tried to delete APN settings, and reset them to default....also tried to manualy enter APN settings for data and for MMS.
Also tried to chage custom user agent...now it is on default android.
Size of MMS wasnt the case because I was trying to send small audio files (about 20kB).
Here you can see logcat while I was trying to send MMS.
This lines from it I guess that are important:
E/Mms:transaction( 1042): Url: http://mms.telenor.rs/servlets/mms
E/Mms:transaction( 1042): HTTP error: Forbidden
E/SendTransaction( 1042): java.io.IOException: HTTP error: Forbidden
Somehow it is not allowing me to use MMS server.
After that I turned on setting 'use only 2G networks' in settings / mobile network and next MMS was sent without problem. Then I disabled that option, waited a little for connecting with provider to finish and tried again. MMS was sent succesfully again.
Then I rebooted the phone, and after that I cant send MMS with or without that option turned on. No luck after another reboot. In logcat now are the same errors.
Anyone have a clue how to fix this?
Bump???
Anyone has any idea?
Ask your network operator.
Also:
Before you start, you need to activate your handset for receiving and sending MMS. For handset configuration send a SMS with text ‘mms’ to 131. Once you have sent the SMS for MMS configuration, you will receive MMS settings in the form of an SMS which you need to save.
You can also download MMS settings on your handset click here.

That came to me, but wanted to try something else before that for few reasons.
First: MMS worked fine when I first started to use android (mostly sense builds). I haven't tried it until recently, and as I said in two occasions MMS was sent successfully, so if my network operator is blocking it, I guess that I couldn't done that in those two times.
Second: I bought HD2 on contract at my network operator 6 months ago, and already violated warranty at least 50 times, so it would be awkward to ask them why is MMS not working on my Android HD2
Anyway, thanx for the suggestion, if I don't get any other hint here, I might try that...
edit: I just read you second message. MMS is activated long time ago and I have used it many times. I know the correct configuration for MMS. I have tried the one that was auto installed at first boot, and they are the same as the one I have.

To be fair they don't need to know what OS you have on your phone. They probably don't even know the HD2 can run Android, or possibly even what Android is.
Navigate your phone to the link I supplied above. The problem of course is that the page may well be dedicated to some sort of WM application rather than Android.
I googled this and returned only some issues of application development for the iPhone and Android where people were suggesting to use different port numbers etc, hence my advice to ring your network operator.
I'll guess I'll try that. Thanx for your help.
BTW, your link was telenor site from Pakistan And I couldn't open it. Anyway I read several APN settings on Telenor Serbia site, for HD2, Desire, Desire HD, generic Android settings...parameters are correct. Also tried to change port to 9021 (it said that it is for older devices), with no luck....

Well, apparently your advice was the right one. I called call center, my MMS service was active. They deactivated and reactivated it, I deleted APN settings, did a restart, entered settings again and so far it works, even after few restarts....

Did you make the same mistake as me and try to open it on your desktop PC?
It states you must open the link in your mobile device

Ah - just saw this.
Glad they've sorted it.
Hi everyone,
I'm having big issues with MMS and my GSII.
I bought it from Expansys.
I live in Australia.
I've got it running on the Telstra NextG Network.
I haven't touched it in ways Samsung wouldn't approve of.
I can't send MMS messages.
I've rang Telstra many, many times and they set this up and I turned it on and off and they sent me settings and I turned it on and off and they walked me through entering the settings manually and they transferred me to the really technical team, as high as you can go on high priority.
They told me to pull out the battery and sim card without turning the phone off, and to wait three minutes and try again and if that didn't work, to contact Samsung.
Of course, it still didn't work, and, of course, I came here.
I hope you guys can help.
:s
I'm not sure what information I need to give you that is helpful here, but I've taken some screenshots that may be related to the problem.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out. I'm not sure what to do if I can't get MMSs to work.

Which error does your phone give you?
Server response error.
edit:
Just added the picture showing the error. Forgot that one first time.
I had that problem sending myself a mms. Server response error. On top of the fact that all mms coming in and out was a video instead of a picture with the stock mms.apk. I installed cm7 mms.apk and everything displays perfectly and i just sent myself a message.

Mine works fine and the only difference between my settings and yours is that I have authentication type for both Telstra Internet and Telstra MMS set to "PAP or CHAP". Try changing both these settings.
I have the same problem. After factory reset mms works for a day or two then the same error appears. I am on Rogers in Canada. All default apn/mms settings are correct.

How would I go about doing this? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob.
Does it require rooting? I want to stay away from rooting until it's simple and fail-safe.

Try this: MMS "APN" Telestra.Internet and not Telestra.mms (since mms initiates telestra.internet
I had the same problem with T-Mobile and my sgs2. I think the problem lies with the messaging app as all was fine once I changed to go SMS, problem solved.
When I am sending MMS, I turn Wi-Fi off.
I usually add Topic/Subject and some text to my MMS.
This way my MMS sending works almost 90%.
Sometimes I have to delete MMS which is in "sending" status and try again. This way I got 100% success rate. I have no errors though. Try PAP on both Internet and MMS APN settings.
Have the same problem. Try to manually enter the phonenumber to the recipient. That works for me
hey guys, ive been trawling the internet for solutions and still cant get my mms to work (cant send or receive). has anyone got a working solution? i read somewhere that the galaxy s had a similar problem and needed a combined apn for internet and mms - does anyone have this?
(im on telstra in australia)
What a Nightmare
I also had this problem only SGS2. Bought from MobiCity and running in Australia on Telstra NextG. Unable to send MMS but all other SMS and internet working fine.
I looked up the Telstra website and entered their APN settings ... No MMS.
I looked up the Telstra settings on Ausdroid and entered these ... No MMS.
I found information on how to delete APN and put internet+MMS into a single APN as suggested for the original SGS ... No MMS. Grrrrrrrrr...
I used the Telstra website to SMS the APN settings direct to the phone ... No MMS and increasing frustration.
I sent an email to MobiCity telling them of my problem, as well as what I had already tried. They very helpfully sent me the Telstra APN settings ... which still didn't work.
I tried the suggestion mentioned here to type the phone number directly rather than use a contact from my Google contacts ... finally some success.
Then, thinking 'I'll be stuffed if I am going to lookup and type the number every time's, Installed GO SMS Pro from the Market, and it just works. Looks better, improved functionity including SMS scheduling. And Free.
It makes me think it is a problem with the stock messaging app. Anyway, thanks to the person who suggested GO SMS. Much appreciated.
I've was not able to send MMS to some contacts. It was the problem with spaces in numbers just like Outlook adds after the country code. I have cleared all spaces from numbers (via Kies) and now MMS works.
MMS error was something like 'cannot connect to server'. All settings for MMS was correct (like APN, ports, etc). SMS to a number with space works. Checked on 2 SGS2 with XXKE4 and XXKF2
I have a Hell of a nightmare as well with finding what I m looking for about MMS :
I want to change sending Priority to highest and can't seem to find a way in the SG2 menu or even with an app or MOD....
I posted a new thread on this issue.... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16892768#post16892768
thanks for any help....
For all those who are on the Rogers network, I spoke to a tech rep yesterday and apparently it is a network bug that they are aware off and trying to fix. He said to try and input the contact numbers manually instead. I tried and it does work if you do it this way.
I am not on Telstra, but do you have the correct settings in the messaging app-settings-message centre/smsc ?
That was my prob a long time ago on my Sgs1.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I had the same problem. I had to remove the country code +61 from all my phone numbers for MMS to work. Standard MMS settings work just fine.
Big Thanks

I just wanted say a big thanks for this information. I don't have a Samsung but an HTC HD2 and it appears that I was the only person on Earth who couldn't send an MMS with my nandroid rom on the HTC HD2... or there were lots living without it. Your suggestion re "PAP or CHAP" has MMS sending perfectly on my phone with Telstra NextG. Reproduceable too as I now have my wife's HTC HD2 sending MMS as well on Telstra!
