is there a SW to send service messages - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I mean by service messages the ones send from service providers like was push or web link or the ones telecoms send as a message to send you wap setting or gprs settings

if you can send those types of sms from any phone it's pretty odd that the world is not filled with virus's that delete mms settings and gprs settings and then resend them to something else
so my guess is no

actually, there were a lot of cases of this happening, with people being sent csd settings that go through premium rate numbers, this is why an alternate type of setting was created, which requires the user to enter a pin into their phone. Although most phones have always required user intervention, but most users are click-happy muppets.
sending wap/mms settings is a relatively straight-forward process, the best place to look is www.nowsms.com, who produce an application to do just this, through either a gsm modem/phone or a bulk operator like clickatell

MMS Settings on WM6

Hi,
I have a HTC Touch with WM6 on it and yesterday I received a SMS message about a MMS that I received.
I tried to figure out the settings for MMS through my provider (Vodafone NL), through google and through this great forum. Unfortunatly I am unable to find the settings for MMS anywhere in my device.
All the MMS guides say:
Go to messages, go to options and then edit your MMS settings.
Unfortunatly I dont see MMS settings but SMS/MMS settings and the only two options I have are "use unicode if needed" and "request deliveryreceipt".
Anybody can tell me how to configure MMS settings on my WM6 HTC Touch device?
Greetz,
Sander de Rijk
you must have the new mms app just go to sms/mms and make a new mms choose custom, go to the menu or what ever two settings are on the bottom and look for mms settings (sorry for lot being to detailed right now i dont have my phone with me)
hope this helps you in some way
I am sorry but I dont quite understand you.
I only have the option to create a new email account (pop3 or imap) and I cannot choose MMS.
What kind of MMS app do you mean? A seperate install? Or do you mean another message provider like exchange/MMS/pop3?

sorry as i sed i did not have my phone with me but now i do and the mms app is what sends mms because it is separated from the sms sender
My mms settings are in the sms inbox and select menu and mms settings
if not try these
go to your sms inbox select menu go to new and select mms. Choose custom now select menu > options > MMS options.
that works fine, but its the configuration for receiving MMS messages
I received a SMS message from my provider that I should watch the MMS online on some website. Why cant I get it on my device directly?
When I look at the info at the provider they say that I should configure some sort of mms url. But I cannot configure that anywhere.
or am I missing the complete picture of MMS receiving?

this used to happen to my old motorola phone because the file was too big or it was not compatible (even that i knew it was) this is a network problem or try setting the size limit in the mms settings to the max you can on it but if you want higher try searching for the registry settings, search "mms size limit" or something like that
instead of all various configurations where I have to enter the URL of the MMS server it was quite easy: send an MMS and my provider automaticly configures my phone as MMS-capable

Telus and MMS... It can be done!!... sorta

well, as the title implies, I have managed to get some of the mms features working on a telus titan phone
NOTE: as of yet I haven't been able to receive picture messages, but I can send them.
here's how I did it:
1. download then install the attached cab
2. under options -> advanced, then click the manual button and enter the following settings:
MMS Gateway: http://216.198.139.113
MMS URL: http://mmsfeplb01.int.eng.telusmobility.com:8088/mms
select which ever network profile you use for internet
and VOILA!!! half of the problem is solved... now if only someone could figure out how to receive them we'd be set, but I suspect that telus employs some means of the message being redireccted to their horrible online app to view the photos... which at present time, isn't displaying photos and they expire without me seeing them... good old telus, giving users the cutting edge while cutting out user support and features.
P.S. not too bad for my second post on these forums eh?
have you tried it using arcsoft mms and the same server settings?

haven't been able to duplicate the results on arcsoft... I'm new to this whole MMS thing, is there anyway to run a trace and see how this program is doing what is does?
Well as you said it does work for sending, the receiving portion however, I don't believe you will be able to do it since TELUS' MMSC server is programmed not to forward MMS' to phones that have a specific user profile such as the P4000, instead is supposed to send you a net alert and have the pictures forwarded to telusmobility.com/snap.
Unless you somehow get someon to modify your user profile in the MMSC provisioning, there should be no carrier settings or registry tweaks that could help you out, unlike other carriers.
However, why don't you just log into telusmobility.com/snap, go to preferences and set it to forward a copy to your e-mail address. I assume you use e-mail on your p4000 and this will achieve relatively the same thing...
While we are at it, although it is much more convenient to naturaly MMS someone with ther telephone number, you could just e-mail them a picture to their phone, thus using your data plan and not having to pay 25 cents per picture message...
mms email address for telus phones: [email protected]
this should send it straight to a regular phone's wap browser and you just need to get the corresponding email address for Rogers, Bell and Fido

I've recently discovered that the e-mail forwarding function only works when receiving MMS sent from a Telus phone. MMS sent from other networks cannot be decrypted correctly so they're not forwarded to the specified email address.
The "save to album" also doesn't do anything. I've checked my photo album at https://photoalbum.telusmobility.com/index.asp . It looks like the site is still under construction or maybe it's just plain crappy. Nothing was saved there from my photo messages.
All and all, I'm very disappointed in Telus in handling (blocking) MMS. I'm searching for a working SMS2Email (or MMS2Email) services now. This way the person sending you the MMS can send it to your email instead. If anyone knows one that works in Canada, Please let me know. I really need to receive MMS somehow, and not on the crappy Telus Snap site (seriously, are they kidding?!?!?!).
Sorry to bump an old thread
This worked great for sending, but has anybody figured out a way to recieve yet?
I just installed it, used the telus server settings as described, but all mms keep getting rejected by server. I definitely double-checked the addys... anyone else follow these instucs with no joy?

this program is very hard to use with a non-touch screen smartphone. Anyway to get it sized for a smaller screen?
i get the same error!!!! i can not get this to work any ideas i have followed everything in the OP!
Make sure you always have a subject or it will be rejected.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried these settings on Android. I can't make it work, and I've made sure to set a subject on the messages. I don't expect much of a response, but I thought I may as well give it a shot.

Because Snap doesn't work right. Never has. When the wife and I first got the HTC S720, a Telus tech tried to get her going on Snap... even pics HE sent to it never showed up. With mine, maybe 30% of pictures sent to me ever arrive at Snap, let alone get forwarded on.
Furthermore, viewing in Snap itself has always been an exercise in futility. The password is about 2,000 characters long; the only way to effectively enter it is cut-and-paste. The only way to get it is to have the server email it to you, and the last time I did that (after I flashed my phone and lost the password), the password *never* arrived. I requested it four times, and never got a response.
And IF you do get a long, the pictures you get there are tiny. My wife ended up returning the S720 and getting a KRZR, so she could do MMS properly... she sent me 1.3MP pictures that only ever showed up as QVGA on the Snap site.

I've tried this with Rogers and Fido phones... the recipient gets a text message from my phone's email address, containing a string with the picture's filename, but not the actual picture.
Frankly, Telus's implentation of this is uttery broken and always has been. I've heard a dozen different "explanations" of why MMS won't work on their phones, and every one of them rings as bull$#!t. The most common one for them to give is simply that "no PDA-type phones support it", which I shoot down immediately with the fact that my Rogers Treo does it just fine.
When my wife's contract is up in another 16 months or so, I know she's planning to jump to Rogers so she can get a Blackberry and still do her picture messaging. Telus will lose a 20-year customer if they don't fix this issue; they will have NO chance of keeping her if they don't get MMS working. My contract will be up a year after that, and I won't be far behind her.
Hate to bother, but where is this "options" to put in the information. How do you get to it from the today screen?
Okay, trying this... but I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message when I try to send even the smallest picture. I'm showing 51MB free RAM and 8.8MB free device storage memory...

Look for a new "SMS" icon in your Programs... launch that, click Menu on the right softkey, then Options... go to Advanced tab.
There must be more info required there... maybe the OP could share his settings for Message Center and Email Center numbers?
HOLY CRAP, IT WORKS!!!!
Well, partly... like the OP, I can send, but not receive (yet). The Palm app doesn't want to run on my Omnia (I get the "out of memory" error), but an older Arcsoft install (PPCGeeksSprintMMS) does.
I followed the time-honored hack for that one to enable the server editing (HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\EnableServerEdit -> change 0 to 1), then plugged the OP's server settings into the config:
MMS -> Menu -> MMS Configuration -> Servers -> tap the server name to edit -> enter full Gateway and Server Address entries listed above, Connect via: The Internet, WAP: WAP 2.0 (Port will change to 80).
Now, Arcsoft, at least this version of it, is pretty clunky and doesn't integrate quite as nicely as the Palm app - the Palm one actually re-retrieved the last couple weeks' worth of incoming SMS messages as well(!!). This one keeps a separate inbox that so far is extraneous.
Update: okay, it worked... like, TWICE. I tried replacing the clunky ancient version of Arcsoft with a newer version and I haven't been able to get it to go since. I've even done a hard-reset and reinstalled it all clean... went through a bout of not being able to remove the WM6_threaded app as well.
If the OP is still reading this... could you maybe post your related registry keys? Thinking there must be some other string that I need, something that's either incorrect or missing... *sigh*
So near, yet so far away...

Cannot send MMS messages!

Ever since I have had my wizard I have not been able to send MMS messages, when I try it later says that the message could not be sent and that it will be filed under drafts. I have tried many different ROMs with no difference. Finally got annoyed enough to post about it. Can anyone help me?
kinda hard to help if you don't indicate who your service provider is and what type of plan you have.
Since the settings are different for the various carriers, most roms don't set up the connections because that would make them carrier specific. (even if you find a carrier specific rom it won't do setups for specific plans)
You have to manually set up your connections, or find a CAB for you carrier and plan.

Mms help needed please

Hiya
Ok so ive had my x1 a couple of weeks now and love it to bits, however im really struggling with mms and wondered if anyone else has the same problem or if theres a tweak for it
Im on three network in the UK, and have got all the right settings on it .. I can send sms, and can connect to the internet via my network, but when I try to send an mms it will let me compose it but wont send. It just sits in my outbox looking pretty but refuses to go!
Any help would be greatly appreciated .. thanks
Mella
Go into you sms\mms folder (where your sms's are)
Go Menu. MMS Options
Goto the Servers tab and check that it is using the correct mms server
You have to create a new connection for mms, and set it to default for mms so it changes connection when sending mms messeges
Hiya
Yeh I have the three mms settings and they are set as default, but it still wont go .. any more ideas guys?
Check the following, but change telstra to three:
Go to Start, Settings, Connections, then Connections again.
Go to the Advanced tab
Choose Select Network
Change the second drop down box to Telstra MMS
Make sure you soft reset after making these changes
If you are still stuck give the x1 support hotline a call. They have fixed a few problems for me.
Most operators have a service that sends you the mms settings through a text message. The phone can then automatically pick that up and config it.
Some operators don't support the X1 yet though.
Hi buzz, thanks for getting back to me again!
It doesnt give me that option in that box unfortunately .. I debranded my phone using the uk rom
I dont get how it will let me browse the internet using three internet settings yet not send an mms through them, and ive checked my mms settings so many times. Aggghhhrrr its driving me crazy!
Ooooh wheres the help line number? I think thats going to be my next option ..

Yes unfortunately three dont support this phone so will not send me the settings, but ive found the settings online aswell as checking through my previous phone so im 99% sure im doing it right
Ok, you need to make a new connection in that menu for the second drop down box.
The first drop down box should say Three Internet (or similar).
Click the "new" button below the second drop down box and use these settings:
3 MMS settings
Access Point Name: mms.three.co.uk
Username: blank
Password: blank
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 217.171.129.2
MMS Message (Relay) Server URL: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
Then go into your SMS/MMS inbox and check that 3 MMS is your default mms server.
Last of all... soft reset and you should be right.
Woohoo it worked it sent it!
My last phone wasnt half as technical as this so its taking me a while to learn the ins and outs, but im determined to perservere as I love it so much.
Buzz your an angel .. Thank you so much for your help
Mella
No worries.
Make sure you keep these settings somewhere (especially if you are flashing new roms).
It took me a while to get my mms settings working (no thanks to telstra), but I'm always happy to help.

MMS not sending..

I've searched and all I could find is how to fix resizing of MMS pictures. But for me I can't send them. It always says unable to send message. I don't know if I can receive them because I haven't had anyone send me one and I can't obviously send one to myself.
You will probably have to hard reset your phone. That happened to me and that is what I had to do.
look in
settings menu all settings connections
and see if you have a connection setup option, which should set up web data and mms data.
or, in the start menu, there may be a tmo branded item, possibly looks like a sim card, which will request settings from your network, , (though it doesnt work on my o2)
Alternatively, have you been messing with the mms server settings? particularly which data connection it uses to send? cos (certainly on the o2 uk one) if you set mms to use the wrong data connection it fails. (One is propper data, teh mms one is wap)
