Hi every Ipaq 610/610c/612/612c/614/614c owners..
Two known issues that I have noticed
1. BT Headset (I use iTech that has FM feature, while connecting/call it has very loud hissing noise [it is literally unusable to talk over the headset).
2. The predictive text on the soft keyboard (not displayed by default). I manage to do some tweak on the registry and it appears BUT the keyboard hardware now can only input digits for all the 0-9 keypads. (no win-win situation yet)
Inviting all owners of these devices to list down the problems & the possible resolution to it.
I have attached the cab to enable the predictive text on soft keypad, you can always uninstall it if it doesn't suit your needs. I use more on soft keypad so I can go without the hardware button works perfectly.
As For The Bt Go To
Start/settings/sys/ipaq Audio/mic
Uncheck The "enable Agc"
Then Ok...
Tested and It works after soft reset. Thanks.

Camera
Camera could have been better! Does anybody know of any tweak or have any patch that can be applied to improve Camera quality of my Ipaq 612c.
Also I note that the battery drains pretty quickly as compared to other pocket pc phones i have owned in past, any solution for this?
Much appreciated to create this little thread for our minority 61X series.

Anil, have you updated the rom to 1.01.00? That has fixes to address this issue. I see that my 612c lasts for two days on a single charge (which is what I have seen with other pocket pc phones/smartphones I own(ed)).

Somewhat delay in hearing caller's voice
Ok, after a few observations, I notice I hear the caller's voice rather delay. Usually upon answering any call, immediately should hear the caller's say "Hello" (for e.g), but this, there was a second or two of silence.
Does anyone encounter the same? Could this be the radio stack?
I saw someone posted the 6.14 ROM with different radio stack version (later version, I think!), anyone has flashed it on your 6.12c unit?

What type of microSD card have you used? To update iPAQ via SD you have to use regular (non SDHC) card formatted to FAT16.

for custom rom:
i believe the fastest rom for 612c is the 6.1 cooked by sergiorus. I haven't really used so I don't know its battery life
for 6.5 rom cooked by me, battery life varies among the builds so you have to try it yourself or read other people comment. Performance is ok althugh boot up time won't be as fast as the 6.1, you have try it yourself to see if you like it

Is atom hardware is same as Hp 6828, on few sites they said it's identical, but i'm not sure what kind of identical is it.
So can we run ROM for Atom into Hp 6828 (Like HTC Universal as: XDA exec, dopod 900 etc)
Thanks in advanced
hardware is identical, but i've not sem people run the rom of one in the other. People have extracted Atom apps (phone pad/dial) and installed them in the 6828 with no problems though.
Hmmm, Thanks for reply...
I think i'll start my experiment on my girlfriend's 6828. (I'm sure she wont complain cause I bought it for her) ;-D
Hope you post the results! I want to do the oposite - Flash HP's ROM into my Atom!
...are you SURE you want O2's ROM on a HP? >_>
u can flash 6828 with atom's rom, but there will be a lot of hardware issues... and believe me, u'll regret it..
A bit OT, but I have question about 6828. Is there any possibility to connect any USB device to it? I consider USB HDD 2,5". Please help.

nope, but there are ways to connect the miniSD card on your Atom to a PC as a Flash Drive.
Yeah, you need a feature called "USB Host". PPCs that have them are RARE, and unfortunately, the Atom doesn't have it, and O2/HP isn't known for supporting this feature.
So have you tried the flashing?
Please post results. I belive that if they are hardware identical it wont be a poroblem to flash it! Like I have flashed my old MDA compact with Qtek S100's flash!
I want to try the HP rom on my Atom mainly for the new camera software(they say it's better than the Atom's one)
In my honest opinion, I dont know why you would want to flash the HP to O2. The o2 rom is heavier and the features hardly used (unless of course you subscribe to o2's services)
I seriously think you are better off with the HP rom.
it's lighter faster and more reliable.
have you upgraded to the new 1.01 rom from HP?
Try that instead.

I see you're running :
==Currently Using:==
O2 Xda Atom Not-Quite-The-Executive
CMOS: 55.44
BRD: C1
ROM: 20060721B1WWE
RDO: R060822N_MN2ARC_RS00013
EXT : EX0033
Does that work well on a std Atom?
Is there any benefit compared to version 20060414B1WWE?
Have you tried installing later exec ROM's too (think there was a later radio ROM from September 2006)?
If so, did it work?
Well, after doing this, I didn't dare to flash with any later ROMs. Why?
Because the ROM is hacked to OUTRIGHT LIE. As in, an ordinary Atom only has 128MB of internal RAM, but the ROM makes it say 192MB. Yes, 192MB. Because of this, I dare not flash with later ROMs. No telling what an unhacked , pure ROM might do to an ordinary Atom. (Yes, the ROM was supposedly HACKED to work on the Atom, by using the Atom Radio Rom 0822 in place of the Atom Exec stack. I think if we tried to use an AE pure ROM, we'd get a missing radio ROM later, since it uses different radio hardware.)
I only flashed to this one because I was having trouble with 20060414B1WWE battery life and drain. Noticed very little change (an extra hour or so after conditioning, battery doesn't drain as often - eventually replaced the original, which turned out to have 2 of its cells non-functional), although some here said this made the O2's default battery last MUCH longer. Others also reported screen flicker after flashing - which disappears in a matter of hours or only happens periodically, but I noticed no such issues.
Also, note that if you flash to the hacked ROM, it's harder to go back to the original if you have problems - since the new bootloader will not allow you to flash straight from it anymore.
The camera application is more stable when attempting to save to memory, and the phone reception is slightly better - but flashing to the hacked ROM is not recommended. There is little benefit far as I can see - even if the ROM is stable and my PPC still works the same - and the risk is rather high.
You can search this forum for the old threads when that ROM first came out. They should tell you what you need to know, and are answered by people with more experience than I have.
Hi all,
I'm running original WM06 ITA on my x7500 and I'm experiencing this problem:
when I receive a call I can't answer with my BT headset because X7500 BT is turned off even if it was on, so that I have to activate it again. So the problem is that X7500 BT turns off by itself very often in a day. How can I solve this problem? Any fix available?
THX so much!
hi
i have the same problem. this thing happens 2-5 times a day to me. the wicked thing is that somtimes it works perfect 1 or 2 days and when you think no everything is fine 'pop' its there again. fact is that bluetooth simply disappears, the indicator on athena is still blinking blue and the commanager tells bt is on, but my bt-headset (and other devices) signals that the bt connection is gone, also other devices cant find the athena any longer. i have to disable/enable bt in the commanager to get the functionality of bt back. i was thinking about returning the device for repair, but fearing the discussion of not using the original rom (the one with the superugly optical improvements of the provider ). and because maby it's a rom problem. my config is:
htc rom 2.21.407.1 (07/18/07) with extrom:2.21.407.101.
3 bt-headsets 1. sony hbh-ds220, 2. moto s705 and moto ht-820. all 3 are working fine with my universal but having these problem with the athena.
madbird
Hi...so we have the same problem...
I have the original HTC ROM just restored on my device and I have the problem. I read about it somewhere, other people with same problem but I can't remember where...
yes we are not alone i found serval posts on the net for htc and other brands like these:
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/...thread.id=27495&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=867111
but no solutions. the only meaningful thing was for wm5, there is a fix of the bluetooth stack by microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;913683&x=13&y=14) but i did not found one for wm6.

Hi guys.
I'm sorry to say that I had, a long while ago, the same problem with my Universal, and after a whole lot of tweaking, tinkering, and kinky massaging, all that was left to do was to have the device replaced. It definitly was a hardware problem, alas... :-(
I've had mine almost 4 months, stock 7501 ROM, and no problem like that ever. I leave BT turned on all the time. Sounds like a hardware problem.
been there done that fixed that
hi all,
yes, until I found the coolest und most functional BT headset, the cheapy prior ones caused same faults, even to the point of a hard reset ... why, well
no help to be found, just the notion of thinking and knowing, that the cheapy hardware out there was casuing it, not the htc.
example, some devices go into a kind of sleep mode and disconnect if not used, then while the htc still thinks its connected, it gets no reply from your other BT device. Take many SW packages or HW devices on your PC even, unplug the network and u´ll see, even they have unforseen problems ...
have fun, try HW makers like HAMA or Samsung, they rarely disappoint.

Aaaahhhh, I'm not alone.
Same problem here, but ONLY afair with WM6 (I'm using WM6, T-Mobile Germany). I can't remember, that I had this problem with the original T-MOB WM5 ROM.

hi
i dont know if you read the post's above, but if you do you will see that the pda is turning off the bt, so it dont matter if you use one of the 'fantastic products' of hama (yes i also read your other 2 'advertising' posts of your overall 3 for them ). or any cheap crap stuff from sony or motorola like i do.
anyhow to came back to the real problem, i called my provider today and after explaining the problem, they suprise me with a complete hasselfree swap of the device to a new one in the beginning of the next week. when i get the new device i will test it first with the rom that installed, and then switch to the htc rom again to see if the problem returns again, i post the results here.
bye mad
Yeah, I think they're probably aware there's something wrong with some bluetooth chips, both on the Athena and Universal....
hi,
with wm6,
i have tested a BT 1.1 headset (Conceptronics) and works fine, without problems.
also, i have tested 2 BT 1.2 headsets (LG Style-i and Supertooth Nano). In the 2 cases, i have your related problems.
in my opinion, wm6 has a problem with the headsets that implements the 1.2 protocol.
all the headsets works fine with wm5.
regards
I have same problem with HTC Advantage running WM6 with LG Style-i headset ...
With my LG Style-i it keeps disconecting but with my SE BT headset it works fine (PK 3.0 Dual ROM) so in my case the BT on the phone doesnot turmn itself off, just has problems connecting.
Someone sugested a diff radio ROM might fix it - if so, does anyone know which radio does not implement the 1.2 protocol?
I'm using 1.47.51.00
hi there
i'm using my replacement athena for nearly one week now, and had not a single 'shutdown' of bt, not with the se ds220 nor with the moto 705 headset. i use the official german tmobile wm6 roms and not the htc version i used on the replaced athena. so it is not totaly clear if the change of the device or of the rom is making the difference, all other software packages are installed again. it also seems that the system is more stable overall in my every day usage, but that might be only my personal feeling.
mad
*EDIT* one more thing i noticed now is that when a call came in the sound is now played in the bt headset. before the sound came out of the speakers of the athena, and the bt headset only play its standard ringtone. seems that now everything is the way it should be .

This ROM is not bad at all. Is it a real 6.1 ROM?
The Good:
1) BT Stack good. I've used my S9 stereo headset and there's no problems so far. Music plays well.
2) Very fast and stable. No problems scrolling while browsing using PIE.
3) Very Clean ROM
The Bad:
1) I have not found a streaming media player that works with it. I've tried TCPMP and the HTC Streaming Media Player. I cannot play youtube videos. Any clues on how to do this with WM6.1
2) When I try to update the library in WMP to include songs on my SD card, I end up with not only songs but all ringtones, etc. in the library.
Nice Job dude.

2. Some several programs don't start up. (popup window with "The file 'mchat' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate..."

nice to see you in our forum, thanx for ur great ROM and support. I have a question regarding the battery drain, i have a brand new battery but it lasts only for 12-18 hours with usual phone usage and GPRS always connected (for exchange server), is it normal or i have a problem?
Backlight not working
Love this rom. The only issue I have found so far is my backlight not working. When I soft reset, backlight is on. As soon as it boots into the rom, the backlight is off. Have checked settings, pressed and held power button (to turn on backlight) but nothing I do seems to turn the backlight on.
Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks. I think I've tried that video bundle. But I'll give it another go just to be sure.
PDAVIET:
I know that Helmi, Xplode, and others have made lots of contributions to the BA. I know this ROM would not exist without their work also. Nevertheless this ROM is simply rocks. Possibly the best ROM for BA yet. The more I use it the more I like it.
1) It connects quickly to WiFi. If the device is turned off, the WiFi goes off. But when the device is turned on again later, the WiFi springs to life and connects. With other BA ROMs, I had to go to the wireless manager page to restart WiFi.
2) The Bluetooth has fantastic sound. Better yet, it stays on when the device is shut off so that I can use a BT headset reliably. Some earlier ROMs had to keep waking up to keep the BT going. This was very annoying.
3) The 6.1 is very stable and fast. I haven't had to do any resets so far.
I am finding some programs won't load. I get errors like "Not Signed or Bad Certificate". Is there any way around this?

Anyone has try it?
Anyone has try it? How is the bluetooth transfer? Is this the same from PDAViet? Thanks!
Thank ...
Thank you very much for share. I'll test it tonight.
Thank for sharing. Test
Nothing wrong but..
Hi, I have try this rom and the only problem I have found is the same wifi problem than other WM6.1 roms that can't turn on wifi from the comm manager. That can be "temporaly" solved when one click at the "Turn On WLAN". After doing that for the first time whe can turn off the wifi from the comm manager and we can TURN ON again from comm manager all the times we want.
It is not hard to enable WiFi ONCE from WLAN manager after which you can use CommManager.
That's actually usual WiFi behaviour for all BA ROMs since WM 6.
However, none of WM6 or WM6.1 ROMs worked with external Bluetooth modems, expect this (04) one.
To me the WiFi-once tradeoff is nothing comparing to impossibility to connect to Bluetooth modems from BA/WM6.
Thanks PDAViet for making it working.
Can somebody give anther link?
goog working
i try it its working good.... after install image install netcf 3.5 and the vista cube ....
Is anyone else experiencing a problem with bluetooth? I am using a bt-gps and destinator software. Every time I get in the car and launch destinator the system asks me if I want to add my gps to the device. I say yes, and then I have to map the com port then I can re-launch destinator. I can find no pattern , it just drops it from the bt settings after a period of time of not being connected to it (hours). I have not connected any other bluetooth devices so I don't know if it is only the gps or everything. If I need to reflash/clear hive/storage I have no problem, I just don't know if it is me or everyone.
I have TomTom 6.030 and Nokia LDW-3. Everything works just fine.
I am NOT using GPS port redirector and connect directly to GPS serial port (configured as COM6).

Just an update. The system is working fine now. I don't know if it was a issue with the registry saving or not, but no issues now.

I have MobileNavigator6 and in this Rom it will not work. The install runs automatic on my storage card and when i start the programm, the splash screens comes and then >shutdown an wm6 runs.
In the last days i have installed other 6.1 roms for test and the MN6 runs.
Are in this rom some files absend witch are included in "original" rom?

Hi, this seems to the place for finding help.
And you gues it I have a problem with the HTC.
IPL 3.13.0001
GPL 3.13.0000
GSM 02.94.90
OS 3.13.0.0
Windows Mobile 6
CE OS 5.2 1620 Build 18125.04.2
So these are the figures.
I upgraded the OS in order to let my SDHC work.
i succeeded after applying a patch.
But now the bluetooth of my Car Citroen C4 Picasso doesn't work correctly anymore.
Alltough I can use the commands of my vehicle the sound doesn't come through my speakers anymore.
Is this a known issue and is there a workaround?
Thanks.
A little up.
I saw on the net many complains about it, is there still no workaround?

Hi Alain,
Sorry, I have no fix for you, but I have the same problems.
No I have to go to Setting/Connections/Bluetooth.
In the next screen I have to select (and hold!) the device that you are connected with.
You see (in my case) two entry's: set as hands-free and set as wireless stereo.
Select the first one, than again select and hold the device as describted above and select the second one.
You're not happy with this approach, but at least it's working till there's a real fix for this.
Greetings,
Paul.
Thanks for the answer, I will try;
I just checked and in my case the second option is greyed.
So I didn't succeed, I will try to remove the CITROEN device and make a new connection this week end.
