Hi everyone,
I have a major problem with my Vogue. I restarted the phone last night and after it rebooted the data on my storagecard was missing. If I check the storage card on the Vogue it still says that 4.6 gig out of 8 is used however the files can't been seen from total commander, file explorer, or windows XP. What is the problem? Is there anything to recover the lost/unseen data? Your help would be greatly aprechiated!!!

I just had the same problem, switch the view to folder view, see if you can view it that way.
I've seen that happen too... and I just soft reset again. Usually works.
You could also try removing the card, soft reset, and replacing the card.
I tried the soft reset, and soft reset with out the micro sd card with no luck. I found some free data recovery software called PC Inspector File Recovery. Its scanning now and should be done in a couple hours. I'll let you know if there is any luck.
infected!!
your card is infected by virus "system.exe", memory status is shown but no data.
you r going the right way, recover data using recovery software and after that u will need to format u r card with a low level formatting tool...
......this is all my experience....am not an expert.......
Do you think I should do a hard reset to my Touch or am I ok with just recoevering the data and formating the SD card?
yes, you should hard reset ur device....
Bummer.. I wish I logged all the system reg edits I did... Well I guess in the end a hardreset will probaly speed up the device anyway.

Hi Guys,
The strangest thing just happened. I'm on panic right now.
I left the phone unattended for a couple of hours today and when I came back I notice that the start menu was EMPTY, and when I say empty I mean completely empty.
So I soft-reset the device and is still the same. So I plug the phone with the PC and browse the device over ActiveSync and
ALL THE FILES ARE GONE FROM THE MEMORY, STORAGE AND SD CARD.
All the folders are still there, but they are empty. Only the files are gone!
I had a back-up of everything but the STORAGE (big-storage mod). Does anyone any idea on how to recover the files? Is this possible?
I tried to search on the forums, and I couldn't find anything on this.
I don't know if this might be related but a week ago I upgraded the ROM and used the BIG Storage mod.
My phone details are
Qtek S100
ROM: 1.13.00 WWE
Radio: 1.13.00
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks!
I'm guessing this means you don't use a backup program? It sounds like you'll have to hard reset the phone to recover to a basic startup condition. As for the card you can probably recover all that is on it using an inexpensive recovery program such as Photo Rescue(yes it recovers more than just photos). I've used Photo Rescue to recover a couple of different cards to my computer and then retransfer the information to my phone. Try the trial version at http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/download.htm There are other programs that will recover your card, just Google file recovery and try a couple.
If you are using a backup program on your card, hard reset the phone and use a file explorer to start your backup program. I sometimes have to run my backup twice to get everything back as it should be.

Was there some kind of not properly licensed software installed?

I was using Sprite Backup, but turned out that by default it won't backup the contents of the Storage folder. I changed the settings and from now and go on it will do ;-)

I already recovered all my data from the SD card using OnTrack Easy Recovery Pro. Great and powerful soft.

To tell the truth the last soft I used was a new Sudoku game that I was "trying out" before purchasing. So this might have been the "killer"
Anyway, I had an old backup on some CD, so after a Hard Reset and some work, everything is back to normal now, or I hope so.
Thanks for the replies.
lol
i can tell you for sure it was that sudoku game you installed.. it waits till you play.. when you cleared one puzzle it crashes and deletes everything exept the folders.. even on your sd card..
That is the risk of downloading illegal stuff..

Funny, how can the data in storage(which is NAND ROM) gets erased by itself. I m hearing this for the first time in my life
It seemed some evil (not properly registered) software deleted all the files as "punishment". He was able to recover files with an undelete tool.
So you still have to wait for NAND ROM forget its data for the first time
I started this new thread as the previous one on the same topic did not give any satifactory answers to this problem
I also the Windows mobile 6 upgrade to my HTC 8525. I did a restore of my previous data with sprite software. All went very well until I tried to use the camera.
I got "Unable to start camera. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."
I have plenty of space in storage. The camera just refuses to work.
Searching the forums, I have only found one thread who has gotten this error message. I followed all the possible permotations to fix this. I tried to do a hard and soft reset and cleared my memory (both storage and program). Uninstalled several programs. I have a 2GB micro SD card with over 500MB of free storage on the phone. The camera still refuses to work.
What should I do next?
try removing the sd card then soft reset the device and when it has completed restarting windows insert the sd card and it should ask if you want to store images on there instead of main storage.
same deal
I did try that. It did not prompt me for anything after I reinserted my SD card. Any other suggestions.
Thanks

ive had this same problem for a while now and have resorted to using coolcamera.. my guess is that it has something to do with the backup. the problem on my end dosent come up until i restore a backup from spbbackup... so note what programs you have, hard reset, and start fresh...
the camera will be working.
This is because not enough ram is available, simply close any apps running in the backround and try again.hopefully u can end programs with X-Button. some of the "cooked" roms have way too many services running at boot and it almost impossible to make enough ram available.
fixed problem
Ifigured out this was a problem with the sprite backup software. For some reason when you back up some older programs with sprite and then do a system restore after having changed from WM5 to WM6, you loose the camera function. I fixed the problem by reseting my device to original manufacturers settings and then reinstalling the programs one by one without using sprite backup software. It was very time consuming ad I had to retrieve my saved data files and contacts before resetting the device. But my camera works fine now!
it happened to me some days ago aftyer restoring backup
a clean solution:
look for the camera oem package of pandora, look for the recistry settings in the .rgu file, translate it to a regedit4 compatible .reg file, execute it, and problem solved. it is a problem registry related. hope this helps
I turned on my Hermes this morning and it started giving me a lot of errors on the today screen. They were errors regarding programs that were installed on the storage card and the device couldn't display everything (such as HTC Home, etc.) and locked-up. After a few soft-resets, still the same. I took out the card and put it in a card reader, but it seems that almost everything is gone from there and what's left, both files and folders, has weird names (»╣SöôdεÑ.z╕ë , ╔╞DGV)0.╡En , φE}░wx÷,.Γö6 , £#╚Ç3.3c, etc.). Also, the contents of the storage card show up as having 33.8 GB!!! How come?
What's to be done to recover my files?
I could hard-reset the device, but the data on the storage card is still gone! I don't care about the programs on it (I can reinstall those) but My Documents and other files that I had on it are important!!!

Try an application like memmaid or stk tools (or perhaps other people have better ideas/applications) to repair the content. Don't format the card yet!
Good luck

But there's nothing I can do with the device, since it locks-up, it doesn't synchronize with the PC... I actually had MemMaid installed, but the device does not respond. Also, MemMaid was installed on the storage card.
After hard-reset, device working, but still have the same problem with the storage card data (corrupted, lost?).

So install a 'repair utility' on the device and see what you recover on the SD card.
btw, I NEVER install an application on the SD card

I have MemMaid installed on device, now. What's next? There's no data recovery tool in it (is there?).
I always had lots of programs installed on the storage card and had absolutely no problems (until now). I usually do that because the device memory fills-up tooooo fast. I had my Hermes for about 1 1/2 years with no problems of any kind.
Hey guys,
anyone having problems with their microsd card not showing in file explorer?
I'm using a SanDisk Microsd and it was working fine then disappeared.
It has been installed properly and WAS working.
I know its not the card as I have tried the card in a HTC Hero and it works fine. Also tried a 2gb microsd and it does not get recognised after disappearing from file explorer.
I have tried uninstalling programs to see if its a certain cab causing this but no luck. I have found that doing a hard reset restores the microsd in file explorer.
So far two hard resets have restored it but it seems to keep disappearing!!
Did you try another sd card?
It might be just card problem, if not....

Yeah tried a 2gb card that came with the HD2 but no luck
I mean it works after I hard reset but once it disappears HD2 won't recognise when I swap to a 2GB card.
Is this a bug? I don't think its a hardware issue as it shows when I hard reset.
Is your HD2 connected to the USB cable and PC when looking?
If so. Try again without the connection.
I thought I had a similar issue at first with mine - turns out, if I remove and re-insert the SD card - then open explorer and have it as high level view as poss (My Device) - Storage Card folder isn't there.....but then I scrolled to the bottom of the folder tree - and for some reason, once it's removed and re-inserted, the first time you use the explorer, it places that folder at the bottom (so off the screen) but it was there for me [once you've used explorer once and dont remove/re-insert card, it places the storage card folder back up the folder tree in usual place] - sounds like you have a more serious issue though if you've checked that and it's not even there.

No not connnected to USB.
I just did another hard reset and it shows again. I installed a couple of cabs (Touch X Task Manager, tnyynt SD Tuneup) and everything is working fine. I then decided to do a soft reset and it disappeared again.
EDIT: I actually just uninstalled tnyynt SD Tuneup and did soft reset and microsd reappears in file explorer...hmm will have to investigate further.
you have to hard-reset.
I have the same problem when installing the coreplayer...then my storage card disappears. It seems like a driver or something gets deleted or messed up.
hard-reset and you will be fine.
also don't forget to format your SD card once...I forgot this too...maybe that helps too.

I have hard reset but that is obviously not a permanent solution. It is not because of Coreplayer.
I have been using since uninstalling SD Tuneup and soft reset. Working fine for now so I assume it had something to do with using SD Tuneup with leo or wm6.5? Anyway will report back if any more dramas.
I can't find my SD card either seems that i have the same problem as you.. wtf to do??? have formated, an everything i know..

when did it stop working? does it appear after a hard reset?
Mine seemed to be associated with software I installed (namely tynnnt SD Tuneup). After I uninstalled it and did a soft reset it reappeared in file explorer...

Cheers for confirming that. I used it on my original Touch Pro and also on the Xperia X1 so I assumed it would work on the HD2, I assumed wrong! haha

I installed tynnnt SD Tuneup in the beginning. Had a little bit probs with SD card in the beginning also, but yesterday when I moved some garmin maps over to the Sd card, it began stop working. performed a hard reset today and it's working again, but i would not install SD tuneup again this time
Hi all,
This always happened to me. In winmobile 6 and now 6.5. For some reasons since yesterday apps which installed to my storage card disconnected it's link or short cuts in the start menu. Now all of the apps in my storage card i can't access from start menu. when i clicked the app icon in my start menu my HD2 responded
"Cant open XXX. File is not registered or not trusted in digital signature, or can't find one of the files elements. Please resintall or restore this file."
I have to go to the file directory in my storage card to run the apps. This is very annoying and very inconivence. Anyone knows why? What's worse is that all of the new apps that i installed to my storage card has the same issue... Which means i can't no longer install apps to my storage card...
Help?
Use file explorer to find your chosen program icon /copy it
Still using file explorer go to device/windows/start menu/programs and paste shortcut using left hand bottom menu
Job done ! Rename it if you want !

if you go to file explorer can you read your sd card? I had the same issue and it was the sd card that failed so it could not read/find the program it was looking for. Try for kicks copying over some apps to a different storage card and retry. It will at least eliminate that possibility.
Yes, HD2 can read the SD card, and i have to go to the SD card location to run the apps. Just can not access from the start up menu...

I had the same problem you described. It happened after some old program I launched got the phone stuck and I had to pull the battery out to do a reset.
After the boot completed, I started to receive errors when trying to launch programs from the storage card. Uninstalling wouldn't work and reinstalling always failed.
Replacing the sd card didn't help either.
I believe that something corrupted the registry.
I finally gave up and hard reset.
The only good thing that came out of it was getting a new 16GB sd card for me to use.
My happened when i installed a lockscreen cab to my HD2 to the main memory. After that everything i installed to the storage card wont run from the startup menu.
Really? some dude told me to reformat my storage card. I'd rather do a hard resert cuz i have alot of crap in my 16G storage card.
I haven't gave up yet so i will still try to look for my other options... Thanks to know at least i am not the only one who encounter this fu**ing problem...

Gave up and hard reset a couple of times, and i found out that the reason i can't click the icon in my start menu to access the apps which i installed in my storage card. It was because of i change the local and Text. I changed from Taiwan to USA and HD2 will not let me access the apps from start menu. This is very wierd, but if i change back to Region: Chinese Taiwan, then my HD2 is ok again... Just to share with you guys...
