Any way to delete Phone contact entries all at once?

Hi, guys, I am a new user at this forum, which I found most useful for a WM-newbie like like me and thank you all for that. I bought my 9100 a while ago and am still experiencing some difficulties in setting it up.
I have been searching through the menus to find a way to delete all my contacts at once. Since I could not find any way to do this and was not willing to do a hard reset just to fix it, the first time I deleted them all one by one...and I had quite a lot of entries back then
Could anyone help me solve this problem in a more sophisticated way? I am about to delete contacts soon and I would rather hard-reset the device, than go through the same procedure ever again.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi,
install the attached CAB to your pocket pc and softreset, now you will find new options in contacts menu "select all" and "delete seleted"
hope this is what you want.
regards
This was exactly what I needed! Thanks a lot, mate! I appreciate it
Now the stylus is marking the contacts like a mouse would on a PC. I wonder why this opition is not a preset one and has to be installed additionally?!
Anyway, you've been of great assistance. I will seriosly reconsider the hard reset now
Best of luck!
Hi...I am afraid this will not solve yr problem. There are 2 ways 2 do it...
1) Use the default File Explorer & rename "pim" to "pim1" & reboot. All PIM Data will be deleted inclusive of all the Tasks & Calendar Entries.
2) Use Pocket Informant...as in addition to above..it allows u to beam all the contacts in one shot.

I have been looking for this for a long time.
Thank you!
Or when it is connected via activesync, open outlook and delete all the contacts there it will sync with the phone and delete the ones on the phone at te same time.....
Believe me, guys, Ammar's .cab file does the job and it's fine by me. Would strongly recommend it!

Help for Persistant Guest Login - YAY

Hey guys, yesterday i did a hard reset and then couldn't sync my outlook again.
Tired everything from uninstall, deleting reg settings, new version of Active sync - but nothing would let me delete my partnership or get the damn thing working.
In the end and after searching on the net i came accross this article....
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/guest.htm#Guest Issues
in there it mentioned something about the guest setting in the reg. I couldn't find the exact key as mentioned but modified my search to just "guest" and found the value and changed it back to normal --> presto - all is fine.
Thought i'd share this because i was ready to slam my TyTN into the wall and thought that maybe some of you could use this bit of info.
Cheers.

Activesync (again)

OK I know we've been here before and I may be in the wrong section, but I need an alternative to activesync which will allow me to sync contacts and such with the pc.
Before anyone goes the normal route, this has been a problem for over a year. At this time I dare not allow activesync to control my contacts as it will not do what it should. It will delete my ppc contacts and I have been trying all the info I could find without success. Right now, all my contacts have again been deleted from outlook but my backup of the contacts on my phones are safe thanks to spb backup. I just have no way I know of to get them onto my computer without typing them all in again.
I don't want a Microsoft answer. Activesync just cannot be relied on (since 3.7 anyway) and I need something else. God knows what would possess Mr Gates to allow this piece of crap out into the world and I have had as much as I can take. I have done all the things I have found on this forum since being forced onto v4 and nothing cures it. All I can do right now is copy my contacts backup from spb and transfer my contacts between my xda's.
Please help before I go bald.
........
did you find a solution? For my Activesync has failed completely.

Saving settings

With all the numerous ROM’s being put out by the cooks, it’s a flashing haven. That being said, it’s also a huge hassle with trying out the various ROM’s to constantly have to reenter all the information i.e. contacts, email settings, proxy, camera, etc. Now I believe the sim card only stores 230 numbers…what if a person has more? What the easiest way to back up all the settings and quickly restore them once flashing to a new ROM?
I have a mail2web account that automatically synchronizes my contacts, calendar and to do lists for me. I've even cooked it into my personal ROM... the proxy settings, I've partially cooked but haven't taken the time to fix the mistakes that I did... the camera... well, there isn't many settings for the camera that I change, so I haven't bothered to change them. Any UC compatible ROM can be configured with a properly setup provxml file.

I use the Kiss method.
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
Active sync does all the work I do nothing . It stores all my contact info , calendar dates , notes , favorites in Microsoft Outlook. I am no big user of it but its the easiest way to be sure to have all my contact information.
I can also save the info in various ways from outlook to export anywhere I want to . But with no computer knowledge all you have to do is make sure all the check boxes are checked for the information you want and its done with no work on your part mate. If you need screen shots let me know and ill even make some ....
pimback up works like a dream and its usually on alot of the cooked roms. you dont need a computer because you can save the file on your memory card. its very fast to do backups and restores.

Most of the settings are stored in the registry.
Once located you export every registry value and create a CAB out of it.
After every hardreset/flashing you can run it automatically by UC ready ROMs or manually.
That's my way of hassle free flashing and testing, always have my settings automatically loaded after hardresets or newly flashed ROMs
My personal "All-in-one.cab" includes settings for
camera
ringtone
email-tone
SMS-tone
German hardware keyboard layout
hardware keyboard lighting
deactivate keyboard sliding sounds
backlight
power
start menu
GPRS
mail2web ActiveSync
bigger threaded SMS input space
many 3rd-party software-settings (Opera, S2U2, TotalCommander, pBar...)
etc.
It's a PITA job, very very time consuming espcially hunting for the reg values,
but in the end you will enjoy it every time you flash or hardreset.
HardSPL, UC and a All-in-one CAB is the perfect combination for our hobby.
Well, you asked for the easiest...this is not

LOL ..... the cab files I have to do manually .. But most of my programs are installed thru activesync on my desktop. But I have been planning to either figure out how to install cabs that way or convert to installers .

I will post the reg values or at least the registry address.
I'll check if I'm able to write an how to.
Right now I'm busy with private matters and I'm not sure how long it will hold me up,
but I will post those entries as soon as possible.

Take care of your business first mate .. XDA will be here when you are ready ....

Accidentally deleted parthernship on WinMo - all contacts r gone

After "re-installing" my laptop I launched ActiveSync the first time and telled him to synchronize with my Touch HD. But AS said: There allready exists a parthernsip on the mobile device - first go and delete it.
Ok... I started AS on my phone, opened the options dialogue and I deleted the partnership with my laptop. That was a mistake - because with the parthnership every contact was deleted.
Wow, nice feature, Microsoft!
So... i know i have a half year old backup, but is it possible to undelete the current contacts? Perhaps there is a file on my phone, where they all are stored?
every hint is helpful, thanks a lot in advance!
//E
puuh.. ok - i found the file "pim.vol". Obviously it contains every contact but they are marked as "invisible" respectivly "deleted". So, how can i reveal them, make them visible?
Yes, I saw that issue when trying to remove association between my PC and my HD. I used ActiveSync to import contacts from PC, but when it's done, why can't I mantain the contacts if I remove the association? Can't understand.
Deleted as mis read the line of "re-installed" laptop.
Soz.
i guess it could be a good idea to move this thread to the general Q&A board, cause thats not really a blackstone related problem.
Also have the exact same issue,
used phone on my spare laptop and was asked to delete a setting,
Now I've lost about 220 contacts. - Any fixes?
I think there is no fix. Just dont do it again. Always have a backup somewhere. Now it is quite convenient to skip outlook altogether and active sync directly to gmail and gcalander.
perhaps there is a solution.
As I found out, the pim.vol is just a database called "EDB" that MS uses for mobile devices. Till now the file format is "closed" but there exists the so called "POOM" - an API to read informations from the EDB.
So... I guess there is someone out there who already coded a Interface to read the pim.vol.... and we have to find him...
This interests me because I tend to delete contacts quite often!
Just Run PPC PIM backup- it creates a backup of PIM on a daily basis. This way you can delete contacts, messages, appointments and so on as much as you like.
