Yes, bcoz ive a small talk with some guys and they told me that herald can be unbricked, but its quite hard. Im working on it too and sure i release it when its done But now its time for a little poll
Users of Heralds bricked devices: If a unbrick solution will releases tomorrow, but you have to pay a "small" fee for get your device running again...
Will you pay for that??
Thats all folks!
It is very difficult to truly brick these phones, really there are 2 ways i know of. Hardware bricked and hardsplwhenyoudidntreadthewarningsabouttheversion bricked. Anything else can usually be fixed for free
im just asking if u r willing to pay for that.
Im sure that u dont know too much about
He's right, though Tramuyo. He just didn't go into particularly great detail.
I suppose melting some PCB like an idiot counts as bricking.
Also something messing up at just the right moment in HardSPL causes bricking.
And not reading the instructions for HardSPL causes bricking
it depends on if it was a hardware brick or a hspl brick. i already have the official t-mobile wing RUU file in case i hspl brick and ive recovered before.
never had a hardware issue....hopefully i wont ever. but i have the $6 a month unlimited warranty on the phone so if it ever breaks, i can get another one.

Before continue lets say a Bricked HTC C1 is a phone who stay no matter what in the T-Mobile G1 screen.
I put 25.00 USD in a paypal account
Dude, when a phone is bricked it means its DEAD like a BRICK.
If you can get into recovery or bootload mode, it isn't bricked.
So back to my first statement, there is no coming back from a bricked phone.
Agree with Mikey, dead means dead. Unless you want to bend the rules of life then its not possible.
There's must be a way to fix it.
And i'll give more U$50 (on paypal) of reward
Does anyone know what board is replaced by HTC when they fix bricked SPL's and such?

I dont think they replace the board, they must only reflash (somehow) the correct flash.
That must be using a JTAG way, or some battery (pandora), who knows...
The reward is 75U$
UNITED NATIONS Brick HTC G1 Thread?!
Lol sorry, but isn't there already one of these threads? But, when you guys say dead... isn't it just dead software wise? It's all physically intact.. why is there no coming back?
Dead doesn't necessarily mean not recoverable. Think about developers who are writing radio and SPL parts - if they mess badly with something, put it on their dev devices, and phone can't boot, only solution will be order next dev device...? I don't think so...
In general, there are several ways used by phones/electronic devices producers, one is to have simple spare bootloader which can write part of SW which can take unbricking process further, or device's heart can be operated with JTAG. Unfortunatelly there is not much documentation about Dream's, and producer of the processor isn't known as a cooperative one... (or i missed something
come on guys.... someone from inside HTC or Android dev. Surely you can give us the details on how to build a ROM flasher and how to flash without the damn device switched on?
Its basic electronics, it is for sure possible, the catch is only you guys know how. Please share some details...
From what I know you would require a JTAG cable at least but then having the right flash tools to bring it to life. Even if software or chips die on a motherboard, there are always a way to either clear it, short it, re-flash or to replace the chip in question.
Happens a lot if you work on laptops, computers or any other electrical device, however the hardware required is often specialised and expensive...
I also think the Jtag will be the solution, reward 75.00 keep it up guys!

Today would be a good day for me to start making treads. Been around long enough to still brick my phone. Not a noob nor yet a pro but I know when my phone is fully brick! "Black sreen with no led lights when charging." Ease touble shoot right; Its a gonner."
I myself know bricking is a lot more common now then every. With that said, How about a group or just someone do some research on how to bring back tri-color screen so that we have a chance to re-rom. Maybe post up what are the process to bring the phones back to life after death.
Its a start but this is just as important as us being able to flash custom rom. Maybe even more important if you ask me because, its a mobile device you spent money on to make your life seem alittle bit more fulfilling.
Like many out there in XDA, Roms are always fun to flash even if we had a good one running. The fact of the matter is: Having freedom to customize your little buddy seem just alittle bit more then just a passion. Its personal I will donate $500 US dollars to anyone who cracks this issue. Im returning my solid brick HD2 as defective to tmobile today!
good luck
Sorry, you have posted in the wrong section.
Ask someone in the HD2 section.
thanks

MOD EDIT - Moved to HD2 forum.
No need to off $500 to unbrick device, just search in HD2 forums for guidance and you can unbrick it yourself. Alternative a lot of users on this site would guide you for free....that's what this site if for!!
let me guess... t mobile us meets incorrect radio version... won't power on, black screen, no charging light.
sorry, but this isn't one of those chance bricks, this is user error.
take it back to tmo and pretend it was like that when you woke up.
Yeah Im getting it in a few days. How funny that you mention user error. because it sure wasn't a user error. the user was just hard-headed to not believe that such a thing would not be repairable. lol! I hope someone could find out ways to unbrick. maybe upload a dummy software to upload open roms? any idea on how htc fixes these refurbish devices?

Chances are that if there is a way to unbrick these black screen bricks (tmous only, no other hd2 has shown this type of brick) then it will require a jtag connection to reinstal the bootloader. Certainly not something 99.999% of xda dev users would be advised to try.
I'm getting worried with all these people flashing wrong ROMs and bricking their phones and then taking it back to Tmobile and blaming htc for making a crappy device that just died when it's actually their fault. This makes both htc and HD2 look bad. People need to be more careful and read before flashing

Hi guys
Like a idiot ive flashed danger spl without updating the radio and surprise ive got a brick. My phone insurance has told me the g1 has a 2 year warranty and ive got to take it back to tmobile first.
so the questions are,
1 without recovery or fastboot can i fix it at home?
2 if i cant fix it can tmobile tell what ive done to the phone
3 is there anyway i can completly break the phone so it wont even power on so tmobile cant tell what ive done but still replace it under warranty
thanks

If you're good with a soldering iron... cost about $5 for parts you need to make a jtag interface. Read the jtag thread in the dev forum.

Smashing the thing with a sledge hammer should do it, but I strongly believe that this will actually void your warranty.
I suggest that this is a real bone-headed move on your part and you deserve what you got. Returning the thing now for warranty is FRAUD since this is CLEARLY *your fault*. Flashing the 1.33.2005 SPL is not only POINTLESS, it also can be done SAFELY *even with a non-matching radio installed*. Of course you would have to actually read the instructions to learn what the safe way actually IS. Not that its hard to find... its in this forum's WIKI: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/phpwiki213/index.php?pagename=HTC_Dream_Bootloader (look under "new/safe install instructions"). Wow, you didn't read that, did you?
Pointless, you ask? Absofrigginuseless: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874

thanks for your advice
you should be fine (just don't tell them what you did) however he is right it is fraud.

So, like it says, all i did was flash the new radio... now my hd2 wont power on. im using the core cell evo v3 rom. it was working perfectly, aside from the low reception... so i flashed the different radio. when the phone power cycled after the radio installed, it wouldnt power back on... please, please, PLEASE help!!!
Uhm, you didn't read ANYTHING before starting this whole process....did you? A Radio ROM with X.XX.51.X WILL ALWAYS BRICK A TMO-US HD2. Seriously, its at the top of like EVERY subforum...
as ashasaur said above... sorry my friend, but you have a nice paper weight on ur hands... any radio with a "51" in it is for european HD2's and will BRICK a USA HD2...

As much as I hate to say this because I was a complete noob once as well. But damn it dude did you not do any research what so ever before hand? I mean come on thats like the first thing you read is ONLY flash .50 radios to US TMOBILE hd2's . Read next time bro.

gonna be a warranty issue I'm afraid. the phone is dead and gone.
Yup. I did this to my first HD2, the night I got it. I managed to take it down to T-Mobile the next day, and convince them it was a bad model, and they gave me a new one, but they only do that in the first 14 days after you purchase it.
There really is nothing to do but get a new one.
Personally, after I got my second one, I just stuck with the stock radio.
yup its a brick my friend... i did the same thing but with a .50 radio that wasnt good it was like the first edition... but yea my phone was brick insurance had to pickup the tab..

The second post on the radio thread was probably from my doing as I flashed a 2.05.50.xx on my T-Mo and bricked. I got mine off of cragislist and luckily it was under 30 days and the guy was cool enough to do (...for discounted Wii and 360 moding) a replacement for me.
But...It all goes back to what then seniors have always said when I started on the ROM dev forums. READ! I know you are getting that left and right and it doesn't change your situation, but YOU WON'T do that again.
Don't flash (or mod) anything late at night is a good rule of thumb...I HAVE learned my lesson when I disobey that rule...luckily Walmart/Target are unaware of gut swaps. But I bricked my HD 2 and did a semi-brick on my old Tilt before the semi-brick information was available at no fault of my own. I am sorry for your situation... I HAVE BEEN THERE. I keep a cheap flip phone (since I left the CDMA world) handy at all times since my first Brick way back when.
I don't even post that much anymore...I just read. But I am still a flashing junkie.
Hopefully, you will get a replacement and have attained some wisdom from the situation so it won't happen again or this thread you started will keep others from the bricking wayside.
It's most likely not a brick did u try to put your sim in an other phone? This happened to me and my sim was got fried and got a replacement from t-mo , this is one thing the other time I had to reflash an other rom with the radio recommanded for it worked try these first and then if all goes wrong it's just not ur lucky flash.

no, you're wrong. Its been proven over and over again that radios with a 51 in the version kill tmous hd2s.
I didnt say i was sure i said likely, but trying more ways wont hurt, u can try to flash tmo stock rom to it's known to fix problems, i wish u luck

I think a fine.. :/
I recently bricked an HD2 (not radio related) and was told by a few people that if I send it to HTC and they figure out the device has any custom/cooked ROM or an SPL that is hacked, or from a test ROM (MFG spl) or basically anything that isn't an official/shipped release then they'll hit you w/ a $600 fine. And I'm assuming they don't send the device back to you..
Just what I've heard, and maybe it was just for my 'type' of brick - My thread
And no, i don't have another method, was just gonna inform him about JTAG if he wanted, I guess the ".51 Radio brick" isn't quite as hard to recover as it is others (correct me if I'm wrong).
thank to EVERYONE for all your input. i'm still on a quest to try and salvage this phone because like i said, it wasnt even mine. i already thought of exchanging it at tmo, but my friend got it off of craigslist, so thats out... and i am a former employee of tmous, and i know all the little sim card tricks and what not, and that wasnt successful either. im trying to find someone with jtag gear locally, but here in hawaii there arent a whole lot of options as far cellphone repairs and reprograming... ive bee scouring the net looking for other solutions, and if i do find something, i will be SURE to post it here so that others with the same problem can bring their phones back to life... thanks again everyone!!
So last week I flashed a completely wrong ROM on my S5 and ended up hardbricking it. Nothing at all works, no key combos or anything. I've tried jigging it but that didn't work either. Is there anything I can do to unbrick my phone at all? Or do I have to spend $175 on insurance? I'm really new to all of this and probably just wasted the phone this is just my last cry for help before I sign the forum for an insurance claim

If a jig or download mode doesn't work it sounds like there's not much you can do unfortunately.
