I would try to find one on ebay that's broken and yank the ear piece from it.

ok thanx but can i use a headset or a bluetooth thiz way ti will make life a lil easier for me

If you have about 70 bucks, dr. cell phone will fix it. or if its still in warranty, call tmo

sigh no warranty this phone is about 1 yr old sigh....so where can i find this dr

google dr cell phone. they are slow though, just to warn you. took mine like 2 months because the part is rare

The earpiece speaker is really simple - two wires connecting to the plug - that sometimes can have a break in one of the wires. I had one recently that had the black wired severed completely because it got in the way of the screw hole. Might be worth taking apart and checking.

Yeah, you should still be able to use the bluetooth to get around it. I think I have the pdf document on how to take your phone apart at home. If you want I'll post that for you.

Problem with speaker and mic

Today I lost the speaker and mic in my 8125. I don't know what's the problem. I can't hear anything from the speakers nor use the microphone. The headphones work but not the internal speaker. What could be the problem?
I need help!!!
Diego
Still no microphone nor speaker in my 8125. I tried restoring to original set up without a change. I think it's a hardware problem and I';m taking it to CIngular for a exchange.
If anyone can help, please let me know.
Thanks
Diego
exact same thing for me. had this playing music when i removed the head phone jack and was surprised to hear that no sound came out of the external speakers ...
now i can't even use the phone ... WTF?!?
Well, I contacted Cingular Suport on the phone and they're sending a replacement. Apparently is a defect of the 8125 hardware and many have reported this problem too.

Dont Worry Bro Its No Big Deal, Calm yourself down and listen carefully, The reason its not working is that when you insert the headphone jack into it (there is a small jumper in it which works through a spring so when you insert the jack inside so it disconnects the main audio circuit) so sometimes due to some dryness or may be somethingelse it doesnt connect back, I just recently fixed one Device with the same problem but since i know how to open it and so i did but for you, i guess the top priority would be not loosing the warranty and that you surely will once you tried opening it but ofcourse you need tools for that, so heres a small tip which may work, Open media Player, Play a song and than try inserting the jack back into it and take it out, do it with a little force, it may start working but that will still not be a proper solution to it. Thats all i can help, if there is still you need my assistance in understading the way how to open it than dont forget to drop me a reminder mail on my mail box and ill check back and will tell you more if it didnt work.
Thanks man, a replacement is coming anyway, but it's good to know.

first i thought software was the problem so after a soft reset followed then a hard reset both failed to restore the sound i figured it had to be mechanical.
so i basically did what you said till TOOL started playing via the external speakers.
needless to say i am very concerned that this $$$ phone is so easily made useless.
BTW thanks for the help!
No Problem! It made me happy
Well, im so glad my idea worked n yes u know for me if it stinks, its chemistry
if it hurts, its biology
n if it doesn't work,
its definately physics(electronics) lol
so i dont depend or trust electronics
Anyway the pleasure was all mine, no need to thank
takecare!

No sound from Charmer

Today the sound on my phone has stopped completely. Works through the headphones and bluetooth but nothing through the speakers and the mic doesn't work. Tired rebooting, hard resetting etc to no avail.
Does anyone know if this is fixable please?
--update--
Just threw the phone to the ground several times in sheer frustration and the sound is back perfectly. I'd still like to understand what caused it for future reference in case it happens again. thanks.
there is a switch in earphone jack, try using some kind of contact spray, there is some oxydation in it

Sorry, I don't know what contact spray is. Does it have a brand name and where do you get it, how do you use it and do I need to take my phone apart? Yes, the problem's back. Thanks

think your speaker is broken. can you play other sounds? like a mp3
Your problem isn't a software one, most likely it's a hardware issue.
Check this.

Let me help you I had the same problem it was hardware not software but I fixed by applying pressure to the phone speakers uses a small peace of paper and leave the paper in to apply pressure it will trust me ok
Hi, same happened to me too, flashed a new rom and suddenly no sound, flashed another still nothing. It was the hardware problem described earlier, I cut a small peice of cloth to apply pressure to the speaker now works fine.
The rom flashing and sound stopping must have just been a coincidence.
guys,
the prophets speaker is very thin. whilst applying pressure will work short term (it did for me for a month or so) it will eventually fail.
Whislt it still works, search ebay and for about £5 or $8 you can buy a new one along with tools to remove the casing properly. It took me twenty minutes to do the whole thing... search google for how to remove the casing, you can find it easily.
The only thing you have to take care is when removing the back cover is to use tweezers to unplug the speak cable from the main board oryou may damage the socket.
But dont stress its quite easy and im no brain surgeon

[Q] My Uni's dieing..........

Hello all, I listen to a lot of music at work using my XDA EXEC not a good idea on a fork lift as the uni gets knocked around a bit! Anyway the headphone socket has broken off the circuit board so now I have no sound and can no longer make calls and I'm getting cheesed off with looking at it to see if the amber light is flashing?
I have another XDA EXEC which is like new, I bought it off Ebay some time ago hoping it was the screen and battery that was dodgy but it was blocked so as good as dead!
So what I want to do now is take what ever I need to take off the motherboard from the uni that I currently use with no headphone socket and replace it with the blocked uni so I can make calls and have sound!!
But I don't know what I need to take off or what it looks like?
The reason I want to do this, is because my uni I use has had a hard life and the motherboard is a little brittle and I'm loosing buttons!
If anyone can help me out here so I can carry on using the old girl!!
Cheers..
Have a look on my sig link, there is the service manual on hot to dismantle the Uni
Good luck!

Hello Orb, I have this PDF manual which I have used many times but what I want to know is what parts on the motherboard do I need to remove so I can get a radio signal from my spare uni as its blocked/Blacklisted. I presume its a chip of some sort? Where is it and what does it look like?? I can then make a good uni out of the two of them!
Oh! I get it, perhaps you can ask enigma1 as she is an expert on this matters
Haven´t seen her in long time
Good luck!

Have you tried contacting your operator? I accidentally bought a blocked HTC from eBay, and after contacting Orange to see what was going on, they unblocked it with no fuss.

Hello Jonny, Yeah I contacted O2 and they wasn't very happy that I had a blacklisted phone! I told them I bought it off Ebay but they had no intention of unblocking it for me so I didn't stay on the line long!

Let us know how all goes and good luck!
Right have have sent a message and received a reply so I am going to copy and paste it here, Hope she doesn't mind!?
Hi, I had a quick read through the problem you have. I am not sure how the broken off earphone socket affects the main speakers or internal speaker altogether, there has to be some other underlying problem to stop the sound all at once.
Unfortunately, the only suggestion I can make involves soldering of the broken off socket/replacement of one with another socket. The entire board of the new Uni you purchased is of no use to you due to being blocked, however, I had some evidence that being blocked on one network will not necessarily mean being blocked on all, therefore you can always try it with another network's SIM. Of course you can take both apart and swap housing and LCD to make it into 1 device, the suggestion Orb3000 made is a sound one with regards to seeing the disassembly procedure, alternatively there is a HTC Universal Service Manual floating on the net that you can search for and download, it is very detailed and will lead you every step of the way.
ALTERNATIVELY, you can always try using your semi-broken Uni with bluetooth headset to make calls and listen to the music.... Even with mono bluetooth headset and Pocket Player you can do anything you want, from calls to MP3s and Voice Command - Pocket Player has an option of sending your music over the bluetooth.
My uni seems to have the sound back so hopefully it will stay on!
Glad to know that
Long live to Uni!!!!

HTC Desire A8181 microphone replacement

Hello everybody,
I have an HTC Desire A8181 that it's approx. two years old now so, in one day I thought it could be a good idea to clean it up a little bit with a rudimentary air blower near me which was used to blow all the dust from it.
Well, the bad part is that I managed to break the microphone since now I can call and hear the person at the other end but seems that my phone is deaf as long as the call is unidirectional.
I've search for solutions to this problem om the net, maybe a direct microphone replacement but found none so far!
Hence my request to you: does anybody know from where I can buy such a part and replace it to make my phone usable again? I'm interest in the part number... or something equivalent from other phone manufacturer that will work.
I understand that it's rather difficult to unsolder the bad microphone and replace with the new one but I have a friend of mine who's working at a GSM service... so it will be no problem in switching the parts.
Thank you,
L
You sure you didn't just blow crap into the microphone? Try cleaning out the tiny opening on it so it's not blocked. Use a pin and be VEERRRRYYYYY GENTLE and careful.

It would probably be easiest to try find a bricked/broken/faulty phone and just transfer the microphone because the chances are the microphone would still work on a broken phone. I don't think you can buy them individually.
Unless its on these two parts:
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/flex-cable-for-htc-desire-g7-p-3598.html?language=en <- most likely
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/motherboard-for-htc-desire-g7-p-3231.html?language=en <- unlikely and expensive
Hello,
Just wanted to let you know I have a pretty much useless old Desire A8181, i think i ruined the proximity sensor as everything else worked fine. Until you got call or tried to ring someone and held it to your head. Coudn't even hang up! It's sitting here with a cpl of spare batteries if you wanted to work out some arrangement?
Cheers
how price of desire mic?

Hello,
thanx for infos! In fact it's the second alternative (the expensive one). The microphone is found on the back side of motherboard PCB. Unfortunately for me I have to buy a new htc desire to make it functional. a broke phone would be enough. Even so, it's way to expensive compared to a "simple" microphone.
Cheers,
L
