seidio case HELL - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hi,
I have bought a 2 piece rubberized Siedio case for my Kaiser.
It looks great, but for the love of god can anyone tell me how to get the lower part of the case fitted (4 tabs have to click on)
It reckon the combined intellectual and physical might of Leonardo da Vinci and Thor would not be able to get it on.
Any guidance greatly recievd before I dash the phone and the case into a trillion pieces.
Many thanks
H

When I put mine on I just put on the upper half then flipped it over and applied some pressure around the outside. You could also slide it open and tilt it up and that gives you access to all of the hooks on that half and just apply a little bit of pressure to that area.

i already using mine for 3 months and it's all fine..try to read the instruction..or just like bartimeus said try to apply a bit of preasure..

Follow the instructions that came with it. Mine fitted easily

Case Round-Up

I decided to round up all of the cases for the HTC Universal for reference:
Piel Frama (1 case... also available on Expansys as the "Chairmans Case")
PDair (2 cases, both with belt clips)
- http://www.pdair.com/scripts/main/viewitem.php?itemid=1998&pdaid=190
XaX (2 cases)
- http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=125869
- Nutshell
http://www.tuff-as-nuts.com/209-210.html#
I have ordered the XaX cases with the intention of sending one back... I will post a full analysis with lots of pics.... it's sad that there are not a lot of pics around of these two !
BTW, here's a nice review of the Proporta case...
http://www.clieuk.co.uk/execbookcase.htm
Thanks for the summary - very useful indeed. I'm looking for something like the Piel Frama or Xax (2) case but the keyboard must NOT be covered - which I believe it is with both of these, although it is hard to tell from the photos.
I have found another case by Krusell which looks quite good:
http://www.krusell.se/product.php?s=2&product=2095
Sold here:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=127398&asource=119353
Anyone got one?
Mods:
Should this be in accessories ?
Sorry...
@page 3:
Wow... the Krusell one looks pretty good !
Hole for ear... belt clip... window for screen... Hmmmmm.... !
The only thing its missing is elastic stretchy sides to block the SD card from falling out while still being able to open the case.

i like the krussel or the xax #1.
am interested in feedback on the xax, as I really just want something simple to make the carrying of it easier. if I need it, i just want to take it out of the case entirely, then when finished put it back. most cases are designed to keep it inside the case. i think the clam design prevents the need for a protective permanent case, so something to make it easier to carry it would be handy.
But yes, the krussel looks good if I felt it needed protection...
So any feedback on the Xax 1 would be good, and if any body does by the krussel, let us know.

I've had the XAX 1 for about a week now and it's just what I was looking for. Like you, Simon, I was also interested in just something to carry the Universal as I prefer to take it out completely to use it. The XAX 1 certainly does the job.
The magnetic closures make it very easy to take it out of the case and put it away. The fit is not too tight to make it difficult to remove and replace but tight enough to feel secure. It's not going anywhere. And it may seem a small thing, but I also like that the magnets make the removal and replacement of the Universal into a silent operation without zipping or velcro or snaps to announce what you're doing. It's not a big deal, but it was a nice little bonus.
The concern I had with this case was the belt clip since it is an actual clip and not anything that locks in place. My previous "belt" cases with other PDAs had the locking type clips. This one just hooks on to the belt, but it feels very secure. There seems to be no question of it slipping off of a belt and I've even used it just hooked on to jeans (without them falling down, despite the Universal's weight!) when not wearing a belt. I can see where there is more of a chance that it could come unhooked when just on jeans like that, but I haven't had that happen yet.
One advantage to the locking clips was the ability to allow the case to swivel which this one does not have. After using it though, I like the horizontal orientation and now prefer that it doesn't swivel actually. I don't have to take the case off or swivel it around every time I sit down.
I'm planning to eventually get the PDAir (most likely) for times when I want the Universal protected even while in use, but I would only use that in certain environments where I was worried that it might get damaged if taken out completely. Most of the time I plan to use the Xax.
I am not sure I get how the Xax 1 works.
Is it like a holtster, where you just slide the JasJar in?
What is the magnetic closure for, is that a tab that closes over the top opening?
How are the sides protected?
Care to post some pictures?
I'm at work, so I can't post any pictures right now (they probably wouldn't be all that happy that I was positng in the first place, but hey, it's lunch!)
It is like a holster and the JJ just slides in. As you suspected there is a leather tab that goes over the top to help protect and hold it in (though the fit is tight enough that I don't think holding the JJ in is really all that necessary.) It doesn't go completely across the top, but leaves room on one end so that you can use the headphone jack while it's in the case (as long as you put the JJ in it with the camera facing out.) Beyond that, the top is protected. There is leather on both sides, so they are protected as well. On the bottom, there's a large cut out in the middle that allows you to push up on the JJ to take it out more easily as well as two other small cut outs for the speakers.
I'll try to see if I can get some pics together later tonight.
Hi everyone,
I got the XaX #2 case today (the magnetic snap one, NOT the belt clip) and well... it's not that great.
First of all, the Jasjar won't fully close when it's inside... the leather strip that holds down the keyboard gets in the way of the screen. I've tried a bunch of different positions, and no dice.
Also, the camera hole is uncovered, but the earpiece is not so you can't use the phone when the case is closed.
The magnetic snap is nice and strong though, and the leather is of good quality.
However, in terms of functionality, it's not that great. I'll post pics later.

So I guess XaX may have a hit and a miss with their two cases. Thanks for passing that along because I think that is a concern.
I've wondered if the Piel Frama case will have the same "closing" issue. In some of the pictures on their website it looked like the JJ may not have been all the way closed. I had one of their cases for a Dell Axim 5 and it was of very high quality but the "closing" question concerns me.
I'd love to hear from anyone who gets a Piel Frama.
Same here. I am interested in the Piel Frama case or the Krusell. Both look pretty nice and seem to have the proper cut outs for all buttons and such. Just wondering which one seems to fit the device better.
I am currently using the case that came with the iPaq 5500 series. This fits the XDA Exec perfectly and is ideal if you want to use the case for storing the Exec and taking it out of the case for use.

I have received my Pielframa case a couple of days ago. The Pielframa does not have a closing issue. Also it fits perfectly. Besides that it does not use a plastic 'pouch'. That is terrible. I owned a Qtek 9090 which the case also had a plastic 'pouch' to cover the keyboard. It is a dust collector. My keyboard got very dirty and I could not get the stain away. Luckily Pielframa did not use this design.

Thanks for giving an update! That's good news that the Piel Frama doesn't have the closing issues that was found with the XaX 2 case. I know how well PF cases are made, so I may have to get one of these (or at least put it on a gift wish list!) since I find I like to use different cases depending on circumstances.
How does it feel in terms of added bulk? It seems designed to be on the device most if not all of the time, so I wondered how it really feels when used every day?
Take a look at this one: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7866.htm
seems reasonalbly priced
One thing though..........

I don't understand that either. Where did the flap go?
I'm supposed to be getting pictures together (having regular PC issues at home) so I can show the XaX 1 in use, but the general construction looks similar to the one in the link, but the XaX has a bigger flap. And it doesn't hide anywhere either!

Yes, it is not covered by any plastic.
The case does make it feel more 'bulky'. In the daily usage you could leave the it in case without the need of taking it out. I can answer the phone by not having to open the case. Of course you do need to open it to be able to make a phone call.

Krusel case for the kaiser!

Krusell finaly announced a case for the TytnII I think these are the best casses in the market I have used on with the K jam, then the Jasjam and I will order this one when it becomes available later this month.

Wow, thanks. I've been waiting for Krusell to come out with a case for the TyTN II. I have sent an email to my local vendors right away.
Thanks,

That's my only worry. I agree they do look like very good cases, but I'd really like a case that protects without making the phone 50% thicker!

I agree. My last phone was the Palm Treo 650 and after removing the phone after having it in my Krussel case for awhile, I was surprised how small my phone felt 'nude'.
Cheers,

Personally the only thing I miss from my old Jasjam is the Krusell leather case I find it hard to use with the supplied case and always fear dropping it

I have tired to find cool slim cases for my Wizard and Hermes with NO luck. Some of the better leather cases that are thin do not work well as the phone can slide out (when moving fast or coming down stairs) and the uber cool two piece plastic case (this case was cool as you can slide open keyboard without having to open anything - face is always visible too) I found a few months ago was cool until the plastic would no longer keep the phone in the case and would fall right out. Between the Wizard and Hermes, I have owned about 15 cases including the Aluminum cases. All are a bust! I just ordered the Krusell tonight (will ship Next Day Air tomorrow) and will settle for a thicker case in which my phone will NEVER get damaged. I will provide feedback on Wednesday when it arrives..

Images of Krusell Case and my Tilt!
I am a case freak and have purchased every case under the sun (pouches, Aluminum, two piece snap-on case and many many more) for my Wizard and Hermes in the past. It really surprises me that NO ONE can make a good case that allows the PDA/Phone to be FUNCTIONAL while providing good protection. Today my Krusell arrived. Before purchasing I was mixed on the main flap that covers the entire phone when closed. I like to be able to glance at my phone to see incoming calls, emails and text messages.
Anyway, the case is well made and the phone fits firmly into the case (which means phone will not fall out). I do not like the fact that the clip is placed "high" on the rear of the case. When sitting one must becareful not to break the clip. Running with the phone attached could be an issue as well with the clip placement high. Unforunately you have to unsnap the 2nd smaller flap to slide the phone open for keyboard use. I have dealt with this in the past and will probably be ok with it. Bottom line is the case protects the phone very very well. In the past I have found good functional cases that did not protector or hold the phone well. Images are below. Sorry for the poor lighting as I took these at work. I have a photo light at home and will take better images tonight.

Thanks for the pics! I was hoping someone would get this case and post some pics. You can't always rely on the sellers pics.
I am a real big fan of the Krusell cases. I think you will be hard pressed to find better made product. Having said that, I just can't warm up to this case. If it was more like the one for the 8525 I would buy it in a second. It fit my "needs" on the 8525 perfect for how I use the phone. Plus I didn't have to lift a single flap to operate it. This one for the Kaiser/Tilt does, and you have to flip open two flaps to use the keyboard.
I guess I will pass on this one.
Maybe I need to get the thread, needle and some fine Corinthian leather out and make my own.

I agree with you on the functionality (to many flaps).. But for the meantime I will use for protection therefore my search "will" continue.. Your IDEA of making your own case is good. So hard to find a good case for any Phone these days.

Has anyone purchased and received the Noreve Kaiser case yet?
Would be interested in seeing how it works. I'm still using my Krusell horizontal pouch that I used with the 8525 and it makes the device easily accessible rather than having to open many things to access the device like the book cases.

Help Stylus Stuck

I'm hoping someone might have a helpful suggestion other than "take it apart." I've been using a stylus / pen that I got off ebay. The ball point pen is hidden under a cap at the opposite end of where the stylus point is.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190199301645&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009
It works great except that the cap came off while the stylus was inside my advantage --- and now, I can't get the stylus out. It's stuck, and there's no way to reach in and get it.
Any thoughts??
Thanks
I think you could put some glue (very little) inside the cap and then put it (the cap) into the HTC stylus hole. After a time take it out and then try to remove the glue (dissolving or smthg like that). Peter.
Thanks, I'll try that!

Just be careful not to touch the sides while sliding the pen in, or it will get very messy in there and harsh when the glue dries and come time to put a new stylus in. Thanks for the heads up because I was going to purchase a pack of 3 in 1 pens. I won't now due to the fact that it can come apart.

WOW!! IT WORKED!!!! THANKS!
Of course, do what you think is best, but I'm going to keep using it. I think the fault was mine, not the pen's.
THANKS AGAIN!
Does that stylus actually fit completley into your advantage? I have the exact same 3 pack sitting at home, ordered off ebay, and its just not capable of fitting into the slide on the advantage. Not to mention how shoddy the quality appeared to be with regards to how the 3 pieces stick together. I mean its obvious when you mix metal with plastic threads...things are gonna work loose very quickly. Anyway, I just ordered a 3 pack of 3in1 stylus from expansys that they are advertising as an exact fit, made specifically for the advantage, as well as a 3 pack of oem stylus just to make sure heh.

That's the stuff I used in my bathroom to frost my windows... I got it wet and slid it on.. used a squeegee and flattened it all out and 3 years later is is still sticking there.
The difference is that this is
1.) Clear
2.) Cut into the proper shape (you could do this yourself with some measuring but it saves hassle)
3.) the squeegee is probably smaller.
My bathroom windows are in a VERY humid environment... I have never had ANY peeling.
However I don't keep my bathroom windows in my pocket... so I don't know if the corners will peel up.
My main point is that for $24 of this "film" to cover a TINY phone... you can buy the same thing for $18 that would cover 10 phones... if the product works fantastic... the profit margin for them is HUGE. If it doesn't work... it's the biggest rip off ever.
See if Gila makes a clear one... get $18 worth and tinker away.

Since you've had the Fuze already... Is the shape exactly the same as the TP? It looks like sprints version is a little more round along the corners. I'd Like to go ahead and purchase one of these for the Fuze but don't want to have to send it back.

The only difference I noticed when seeing the 2 up next to each other was the shape of the speaker hole on the back, that might be enough to throw the protection off. Ask Raspster about it more, he had both the European and the Fuze at the same time, so he could tell you better than I could.
I got one, just to try it out.
Exactly as described above. Its a bit fiddly getting on but once on, it sticks very well.
Its great at sticking to flat surfaces, not so good on curves. And they don't even try and cover the corners on the device, which I would think are the places I'd want protected if I was to drop it.
The texture makes the back look very different from normal; its much nicer without the cover on. On the front, you can't really see the cover at all; edges are perfectly aligned with the phones edges.
The back and the front of the phone are covered very well. Sides not so great. Corners not at all. Front looks good. Back looks crap.
My opinion, its no way worth $24
just got mine on Friday exactly as it's described, protects almost every part of the phone with their cut out plastic shield, however as mentioned in earlier post... doesn't really cover the edges, all in all... does really stick and so far looks pretty ok with the exception of little bubbles within the shield (poor application technique)

I have used the Zagg's products (formerly Invisible Shield) on my 6800, 6700, wifes Centro and even custom ordered for my Pioneer 6800DVD in my car. I really like the product, the service is second to none... That said, I think since I have used the product and know how it performs in pockets, and how to install correctly (installed dozens of shields for myself, family and friends), I may try this new product.
Screen protection has always been great and flat surfaces (side) great as well but the corners usually give way, slide and start to bubble after about 4 months of heavy in and out of the pocket use.
This is a $24 experiment begging to happen.... now if Sprint would just release the damn phone!
I would also like to know this. Can it be removed again without leaving marks on the phone?
How scratch proof is it really?
Because of the lack of info on the site (still no video's on how to apply the thing, their forum is just about empty and they don't reply to customer questions...) they really don't seem to thrustworthy ...

I would get the one released by Zagg. They offer a lifetime replacement on all products and they will replace it no questions I know. Their stuff is nearly impossible to scratch and I TRIED just about everything to scratch it. All phones full covers are $25. Never had any bubbling issues with Zagg's products.
yes it can easily be removed without any mark left at all....I found the cover started to collect dusk a lot (it must be slightly sticky) so I removed it.

Trust me, I know oh too well the replacement process and have replaced and installed many over the last 5 years.
The fact that I know the Zagg product so well, makes the experiment more interesting. I know the Zagg stuff so well that I will know if this Clear Coat stands a chance AND since it's only $25... It might turn out to be junk, the company could not stand behind the guarantee BUT we'll see.

Just got my phone yesterday and I just ordered the Clear Coat. I'll install and do a little initial write up. I'll order the Zagg shield when it becomes available and do a comparison.
It's only money and it IS a $700 device.... (but I only paid $250 for it)
Stay tuned guys.
**Update
Just ordered a Zagg full body shield at 40% off as they just got them and were doing a Halloween special I guess. I should have the Cleat Coat on Mon/Tues and the Zagg will probably be here the week after. I think I'll install the Clear Coat first, use it for a week or so and then install the Zagg and do the same.
Can anyone who has purchased tell me if there is a cutout for the speaker on the front? Tah!

I don't have mine yet but why on earth would there NOT be a cutout for the earpiece???

The supplied screen protector is the tool of the Devil

Yes it is..
It simply doesnt work.
Its too thick. Because the screen is so large/flush, the sides dont stick down properly, further more it took me 15 mins to figure out that the top of the protector doesnt have a protective layer of plastic that peels off.. only the bottom.
Basicly I have made a dogs dinner of it and I only recieved my HD today! Tomorrow afternoon I have to go to tottenham court road, pay £10 to have a Brando one applied properly...
I had no issues putting mine on..... and it doesn't seem to effect the use of the screen.
Granted, it's not as good as the Brando's you mention but I'll stay with it for the time being.

can you at least confirm that the top layer doesnt have a peelable protective layer...
Correct......
Ahh the one by Brando from Inkindo or something?
I was looking at that earlier. Brando UltraClear is very good from past experience. Do update us as to how good the one for the Touch HD is would you?

dont you find that odd? all the other HTC supplied protectors, eg with the original Touch and the Touch Diamond had a peelable bit of plastic on the front. This one seems really low quality and it pisses me off that I have to enjoy my first day with the HD with dust and air bubbles/blotches under the protector... and shell out £10 to have a proper one put on

yes, Inkino will supply and apply a Brando ultraclear for me for £10. At least I know someone will put it on properly, air bubble and dust free.
The one supplied with the HD is simply terrible. Its too thick, so the sides easily lift up. there is no protective plastic layer on the top of the protector, so be VERY CAREFUL when flattening it with a credit card.
It's a bit of a pain to apply...
The cut out is actually the perfect size to fit, maybe a little to perfect. Many screen protector I've used in the past are about a mm smaller so it's easy to remove and apply. Let me explain... The HD has tiny ridges which is ever so slightly raised on the whole perimeter. So unless you fit it perfectly you'll find nice elongated air bubble on the edge. After a few attempts it's good now but managed to catch a tiny dust particle underneath which again causes air bubbles. lol
In the past I have found Expert Shield to be extremely good. Even tiny dust particles or air bubbles just disappear... Uses some suction technology. lol
Hey, can you please tell me which Tottenham Ct Rd shop I should go to buy and let them apply for a tenner?

Agree.... As I said, mine went on without any problems, fit's perfectly and is free from dust/bubbles/etc.
Okay it's a bit thick but it's doing it's job.
As to the Brando's from Inkino, click here.

Looks like it's Inkino looking above. I'm in same boat can't relax looking at the dust and air bubbles on the screen. I've washed it twice in desperation but still no go.
Have Inkino got them in do you know darthbane2k and how far along Tottenham Ct Rd are they?
See you all there!

I dont know if they actually have them in .. probably do, I will call tomorrow morning. I only recieved my HD this evening. Not even finished charging the battery yet. They installed my Diamond's protector for me perfectly.
I've tried everything with the supplied protector and am sick of it.
They are in between TCR and Goodge St station
Many thanks guys!
They have two shops.

One of their shops is right next to TCR tube station (well 20 secs round the corner in Gt Russel St), that's where I got my HD from in fact
The other one is just up the road a bit towards Goodge St tube.

LOL, I think I'll wait until they get more stock. I don't want to be disappointed when I get there.

Tricks them all and will be the first to get there.
LOL, and I thought that I was a mess putting screen protectors...
I must say that I have a little, but not enough, experience putting screen protectors. I normally miss the first attempt and that is what happened. This time I missed a little bit to one of the sides. I kept cool, lift a bit the protector and tried one more time.
99% perfect the 2nd time!! It fitted 100% across the screen, inside the whole edge, and I only have two little air spots, none inside the 3.8" screen area.
I wonder how some people say that this protector is very bad or it doesn't fit the screen correctly. This is not a brando one, but sure it's a good one. I can compare to the one from brando that I got to my S200
i also attest that the protector is PERFECT Fit. i have not problems with it so far. it took me 3 times to get it right. i would suggest the following in general:
instead of using fingers to hold the screen protector, use the peeled off portion to "hold" one of the corners -> ie. stick a TINY corner of the protector onto the peeled off plastic, this way you have a "handle" to lift the protector off should you mis-align it. also it doesn't get finger prints onto the stickie side, and it also keep the stickiness after a few tries.

I agree with you. I'm pretty good at putting protectors on, but this was a real pain. I think I refitted it 6 times and even then had to use tape to remove lint and such 3 or 4 times. It does fit too well. Ended up buying a Brando, but didn't get the Ultra-clear Picked the anti-glare one and fitted it in one go. But am not happy with the dull screen, so have ordered an ultra-clear.
