What applications do you have installed? I'm assuming you have s2u2 installed correct?

HELP !! Can't Hard Reset K-Jam

I have searched the forum for several hours, but I could not find a solution to the issue I am having. When I do a hard reset, hit send to begin the format, I get an error saying FORMAT Failed, so it boots back up as if it was just a soft reset. I really need a hard reset, but I am not sure how to make this happen. I have reloaded the ROM several times, but it still does not take and comes up just like a soft reset. I went into bootloader and flashed it that way, but still no go. If anyone could help me find a way to rectify this issue, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
Here are the steps I take
Hold the comm mgr button and the record button at the same time, while hitting reset button, then I get the screen that says
Press Send to restore
factory default,
Other keys to quit
I then hit the Send button, then it says
FORMAT FAT partition
then really fats, it flashes "Format is failed"
I have no idea what to do next, as I can not get my factory default settings back.
Please help. I would appreciate it GREATLY.
try using a different ROM or a more recent rom. if you can sucessfully upgrade the ROM then it should be able to hard reset.
I have downgraded and updated to different roms, but I still have the same problem. Appreciate the advice. thanks
Interesting post.
I got my mini s on Thursday and after initionaly starting the device, i done a soft reset before the o2 crap was installed (to avoid the o2 extended rom loading), but was then curious as to how my xda mini s would perform with the o2 crap installed, but i cannot hard reset my device. I have followed all the hard reset instructions but it doesnt even give me the option of pressing the send button, all that happens is a soft reset.
It would be handy to know how to overcome this problem for future reference, in case i need to hard reset.
BTW i am happy with device without the o2 crap installed.
did you try going into settings and clearing storage?
i never heard of hard resetting not working before myself
Good point, so I just cleared storage, and BAM, it came up as a hard reset, so I am factory installed. Thanks for the idea, I can not believe I did not think of that. Appreciate your help. Just weird how the hard reset would not do it, thats pretty strange.
glad it worked
if anything, i thought the settings method would have less likely worked compared to the hardware method

Same here - I got mine last week, and the damned shop had obviously demo'd it to someone before they gave it to me (gave being the operative word as I got it on a free upgrade).
Was a bit narked to find loads of contacts in (obviously a SIM copy) and tried to hard-reset using the 2 buttons & reset and it only ever worked once after much pfaffing - is there a knack in the presses/time etc?

Then you could have some serious trouble.
Did you really hard reset your device? Often people are confused about Hard-Reset and Soft-Reset, and what actually the difference is. Which keys did you press?
If a hard reset does not help, there is something wrong on a lower level, maybe the bootloader or spl. You could try to get HardSPL on your device (and then flash another rom), or you should make use of your warranty.
i know i have serious trouble.make a hard reset restore manu/ture settings but still the same i will use warranty, phone is 5 days old..
Oh no same problem here but hard reset has resolved the issue pheww. Shouldn't use untested software.
Which iconbar are you having problems with?
Usually it gets stuck on the Windows Mobile screen if one of the modified files hasn't been re-signed after being modified. I've accidently done this myself a while ago when modifying one for myself and testing it and needed a hard reset. That's why I install any I alter on mine first to test it and also take a screenshot of it installed and working.
Also, if you're installing coloured icon bars you usually have to have sdkcert.cab installed.

Did Lag Fix for Galaxy S and now my phone won't boot

Just done the lag fix for my Galaxy S and it all seemed to go through fine. Tried running Quandrant benchmark to test it but it crashed. I turned the phone off and on, got the Galaxy S i9000 screen then is just goes blank, literally nothing, not even the menu or back lights. Had to then take the battery out to reboot but got the same blank screen.
I can boot into recovery but rebooting from that doesn't work either, does anyone know how to fix this? don't want to try anything for fear of making it worse

Try getting into the Recovery Mode with the 3 button combo
instruction on wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/GT-I9000
What lag fix are you using and what firmware are you on?
wont boot..
Hi, strangely but after the 2.2 upgrade on my SGS (it was JF5 and I made the trick with the registry to JPC and upgrade via KIES) it happened to me as well.. just a beautiful "S" blinking on the screen and nothing happens. On the time of upgrade in the instructions it was written that with the 3combo trick to make factory reset.. then everything worked just fine until yesterday...
Without installing any new apps, just browsing and trying to make my AllShare working.. I decided to gave up and without reason I have decided to restart my phone just to free RAM and etc.. And by no reason at all I got the same ****ty "S" screen and no boot.. tried first to wipe the cache.. didn't help.. and just after again factory reset it worked out and the phone is okay...
So probably for you the solution is really only factory reset, however this is very strange behavior
When I first applied the lagfix from the market in apk type it required an auto reboot to see if things wokred ok (as prompted on the screen).
Anyway, my phone stuck to a black screen and I was in a very inconvenient situation not to be able to use a PC (yeah, now I know I shouldn't mess with stuff like that while I'm on-the-go).
Long story short, after a couple of manual reboots (by taking out the battery for some seconds) it came back to life and no problems ever since. So before flashing (which can be rather incovenient if you have no backups etc) try the above mentioned method.
Original JF3 firmware (yeah need to change that).

[Q] T-MOBILE Note 3 keyboard lags/freezes phone after 4.4.2 update

Please be kind! My first time posting here, i searched and found nothing.
I updated my unrooted tmobile Note 3 yesterday. Now whenever i press the back button after trying to type something (keyboard is visable, i change my mind and back out of it), the keyboard freezes and often the whole phone. Sometimes as little as 30 seconds sometimes well over a minute and must be rebooted. Can not force close program i am using until phone stops lagging. Pressing back button again causes longer freezing. My phone is useless.
Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time, and happy Thanksgiving!
Welcome to XDA
The general first step is that if you experience problems after an update, do a factory reset.

Yes should have mentioned I've reset phone and factory reset as well. For now I've downloaded an alternate keyboard that is working. Think that is my only option for now. Thanks, though!

Have you tried clearing the cache and data on the stock keyboard?

Depends, there are several methods of resetting. Caches have a tendency to stick around if you factory reset through the regular menu, for instance.
Another option would be to reflash the firmware.

Where did you find this update, and is it official? The newest firmware that Sammobile shows for T-Mobile is 4.4.2 NF9.

Yes it's an official download. 4.4.4 was supposedly released on the 20th. I just used the "check for updates" on my phone(sorry husband is the phone guru with all his obsession of phone mods) I'm trying to find how to clear the cache on my keyboard tho
Ok I guess I'm wrong. It's not a. 4.4.4, update it's just an update in general. I will edit title
