My wizard stoped charging from usb and charger. My data cable (usb port) also stoped working hence I changed my usb port, and its starts working but after a day problem revives again so I start charging from desktop/wall charger. Yesterday I test my data cable (usb) and found that its working. but I noticed that as soon I plug the usb cable the battery starts draining quicky (1% a minute) but after removing the data cable i softreset my cell and found that battery is still at its orignal level (before pluging the usb cable). Now I have also disabled the usb charging (registry hack) but all vain.
I dont know whats the actual problem I have also hardreset couple of times?
I doubt on battery from day one.
any ideas?

I'm having trouble getting the usb / charger cable to charge the 8525...
Is anyone else havin problems like this? Is there a solution?
Does it charge fine when you just use the USB cable or mains charger ? If it does then maybe its something as simple as poor connection and you should clean the contacts on both the handset and the charging cradle.
If your having problems no matter how you try to charge the handset then maybe your battery has reached it's useful lifespan. It could also be something else at fault but I would check/go through the obvious first.
This may sound wierd.. but maybe even doing a soft reset. For some strange reason sometimes when I plug in the charger or usb it either won't connect to activesync or won't charge. I then reset and everything seems to work fine. I thought it was a cable problem but it happens every now and then.
Have you changed your pover manager settings? If you forbid usb charging, when you connect your phone to PC,the phone won‘t be charged.
guys I have some charging problem and want to know some information.
I have a cheap charger and I also had charging from usb 1.1 (old PCs) and they f**ked my battery.
Now I got a new battery but still have few issues. Both charger and USB charge some times and some time not.
Now what kind of charger I need I mean how much mA, V, and A I need. Second do I only plug my phone into USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 is also save to charge.
seriously you updated your phones firmware and cant figure out how to charge!! i would buy external battery charger as your usb port on the phone is prob loose.. (ive seen the usb port on wizzard just fall off) so might be your issue.. id say its Save to charge from usb 1.1 and 2.0 its also safe to charge from 1.1 and 2.0!
so again what kind of charger do i need (mA, volt, A etc) and where do i get the latest firmware (I already installed the latest official ROM which includes the Windows, Radio and IPL/SPL) do you mean other then it by firmware. My current version is v.2.1.69.101
Active sync remains connected when I plug it into my PC but it stop charging after few seconds and instead of charging battery start draining quickly and the orange light keep blinking, but after unpluging the usb when I restart the phone the battery goes to previous state (percent before charging). This behaviour also happened with my charger.
Is this wizard's hardware problem or due to wrong battery, usb, charger etc?
hey..
i've got a strange problem...
sometimes i try to charge my x1 via usb cable (outlet). and sometimes via usb cable (notebook, desktop pc etc...)
sometimes first alternative does not charge my x1 and sometimes the second!?

im confused... last night i charge it via outlet and nothing happens...

I have had the same trouble. Seems to be something with the USB cable. I have one cable with a blue led in and that cable does not charge the phone. The light on the phone stays on and the batti monitor says charging, but it's draining the battery. A second cable is even more strange, it starts charging for 1-2 minutes, then the phone stops charging and says I have a missing sim.... reboot the phone and it works great again. Bot this cable have been tested with the original SE USB charger and my iPhone USB charger. Same thing with both adapters.
What's even more strange is that both USB cables work great with my Qtek 9100 and my 2,5" USB drives.
When I connected the original USB cable to one of the adapters and the phone it's charging normaly. I realy don't know why this is so...
i have an HD with Dutty 3.9 since 2 months.
some weeks ago, a strange problems happened: when i plug charger to HD, nothing happens (no charge) if i check the option "when device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to pc". If i "uncheck" this option, charging process starts.... but charging is slower than normal....as if HD was connected to PC.....
anyone has the same problem?
any suggestion?
Are you charging your phone through the computer or?
Because on the USB port of your computer there is less power then on your electricity net.
So its pretty normal that your phone is charged slower via computer.
If this is not the situation, then i think my help stops here, sorry.
Check both ends of the cables and sockets for crap inside. I guess its possible a short somewhere is causing the phone to think its attached to a PC instead of just the charager. That could cause the phone to only demand a max of ~500mA (the max a USB socket can support). I dont know anything about the charging circuits of the phone, but It would we worth checking the cable and sockets even if my guess is wrong.
thanks for answer
i have this problem with original htc charger (usb cable+transformer), and with an "after market" charger.....
if i connect hd to charger (and NOT to pc, but to electric net), everything seems as i connect to a pc....
it could be an hardware problem of phone (i hope no) or it could be a rom problem that could be fixed with hard reset o, i hope, editing the right key....
I'm running:
GEN2
Rooted
ClockworkMod
Swedish Spring Android 2.2 with Gingerbread theme and circle battery
Suddenly after a few weeks of everything working fine, AC charging stopped working. USB charging still works perfectly, and when I plug the phone in it says it is AC charging, but the charge level barely changes - it can be plugged in for 12 hours and not gain or lose any charge. Also, sometimes but not always, the phone becomes very very slow, and sometimes the screen won't unlock - I have to unplug it, unlock, then plug it in again.
I've tried different chargers and cables and combinations thereof, I've tried turning USB charging off or on in Extra Settings, I've tried debug mode on USB or not, hardware acceleration on or off, I've tried charging with the phone off or on, screen on or off, I've tried charging it for 48 hours, the charge level never moves.
This is the closest thread I can find on the issue but it is a mix of problems, and they never find a reliable diagnosis or solution:

I don't care if it charges slowly, I'm thinking of trying to mod a USB cable to force it into USB charging mode. Anyone know how?
I far prefer this to re-installing because whenever I connect my phone to my laptop it immediately bluescreens, (despite a fresh Win7 reinstall), and I am lost on my gf's Mac.
These posts describe how to do the opposite (force AC mode) on HTCs:

Thanks enormously for any tips
Chris
Since I lost my charger and had to use a generic micro-USB charger, I have the same problem. USB charge works fine.
May be a problem with the USB cable, have you tried using another one?
(I'm on Ginger Stir Fry, but I don't think it is ROM dependent. )
Thanks for the thoughts. I've tried different cables and chargers and combinations thereof to no avail, hence suspecting something software and looking to mod a cable to force USB mode.
Please anyone know what PINs indicate laptop USB rather than AC USB?
How does my phone know to go into the (disfunctional) AC mode?
Thanks
I think D+ and D- pins (2 and 3) are connected. You would have to mod the charger. Or just use generic USB charger, like those from dealextreme...
