Wizard chaging issue. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

guys I have some charging problem and want to know some information.
I have a cheap charger and I also had charging from usb 1.1 (old PCs) and they f**ked my battery.
Now I got a new battery but still have few issues. Both charger and USB charge some times and some time not.
Now what kind of charger I need I mean how much mA, V, and A I need. Second do I only plug my phone into USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 is also save to charge.

seriously you updated your phones firmware and cant figure out how to charge!! i would buy external battery charger as your usb port on the phone is prob loose.. (ive seen the usb port on wizzard just fall off) so might be your issue.. id say its Save to charge from usb 1.1 and 2.0 its also safe to charge from 1.1 and 2.0!

so again what kind of charger do i need (mA, volt, A etc) and where do i get the latest firmware (I already installed the latest official ROM which includes the Windows, Radio and IPL/SPL) do you mean other then it by firmware. My current version is v.2.1.69.101
Active sync remains connected when I plug it into my PC but it stop charging after few seconds and instead of charging battery start draining quickly and the orange light keep blinking, but after unpluging the usb when I restart the phone the battery goes to previous state (percent before charging). This behaviour also happened with my charger.
Is this wizard's hardware problem or due to wrong battery, usb, charger etc?

Can I relock my wizard when the battery is dead?

Hi,
My device doesn't start up anymore (see other recenttopic). I think the battery is dead.
Because it's unlocked, I cannot return it under warranty....
Before I even try ...Can I relock it when the battery is dead?
Best regards
Well, you can only do stuff of the device if it is powered. I am assuming that you can power it from the USB connection and that it comes on?
It doesn't power on through usb connection neither
It doesn't power on through usb connection neither
then its not a battery problem, and there is no way to do anything software wise on it.
I take it you have tried a different USB cable and USB port? and the plugin charger?
Dalamario helped me out
Dalamario explained in the article "Busted K-Jam" how I could fix this problem. My battery is charging again thanks to his advise
Hi!
I had problems charging my Wizard, too. Nothing happend whein it was connected to my PC. It would not start, would not charge or anything else. I had to use the normal power supply, wait a minute or so and then it started charging again. Seems to be a problem when the battery is realy completely emty. Hope this helps!

This problem has been discussed frequently!
It can not be completely discharged battery. If the battery is fully discharged Communicator will not be charged with:
1. USB sync cable
2. wall charger current of less than 1 Amper
3. car charger (I do not know exactly)
Charged need 5 Volt 1Amper!

USB power supply

I am using the Cingular 8125, which I think is the same as the Wizard. Since I travel frequently I thought I could buy one of those USB power adapters (with a USB connection) and recharge my 8125 through the included USB cable. This works fine with my PC. A strange thing happened: the battery indicator told me the battery was charging. the 8125 had about 50% left when I hooked it up, and when I checked later after I disconnected it, it said 87%. However, this number went down in fron of my eyes, about 1% a second until it stabilized at around 45%. I think, the chrager did not work at all! Does anybody know what the requirements for a USB charger are to work? The one I have says 5V, 300 mA. I figure that may be too small, since the charger that came with the device says 5V, 1A. Or is there anything that would prevent the device from charging with a non-HTC charger?

JASJAR charging time

Hi. Got my hands on slightly used JASJAR and I was just wondering how long does it usually need to fully charge using USB and wall charger.
I left it overnight on the wall charger (which I doubt is an genuine one) and for 6-7 hours it charged to about 60-70%. The second time I connected it on my desktop USB 2.0 port but the result was same.
The battery seems to last OK, there are no sudden dropdowns etc. The device is freshly formated, flashed with TML WWE 6.1 (D.08.20) no applications installed etc.
Here is the pic of the wall / travel charger
Welcome to forums
Charging time may vary from original charger to another one.
Normally I left my Uni to charge before I go to sleep and when wake up is fully charged, and last me 28hr aprox.
USB charging I read somewhere it´s not recommended as shortens battery life (not sure if this is actually true but I have USB charging disabled)
Enjoy your great Uni!!
Thanks for replying.
What do you mean disable USB charging. Is there some other way to charge this thing? All I can see is the mini usb port on the back
I reflashed Tomal 8.9 and I bought the USB to mini USB with two USB A plugs that go in the PC. It is supposed to provide 1000 mAH and it kind of charges faster now.
Oh btw, I checked the battery and its not OEM battery, maybe replacement I don't know, but it works ok.
1590 mAH 3.7v
I was going to say in your original picture (charger) is only 500mA. The original Uni charger is 1A (1000mA). To 'fast-charge', you need the 1A charger, which I see you now have, so that's alrighty!
Yup it sorted out. Great device btw.

Now my phone won't charge

Totally stock (but i don't think it matters).
Plug the phone in, orange LED comes on.
Hold it or place in on the counter five seconds later, LED is off.
Had the phone since 6/4.
Anyone else having issues?
Are you using the AC charger ? I have two Evos and one of the chargers does what you are describing. The orange LED comes on and then goes off after a while and the phone stops charging. Does it on both phones, the other charger works fine with both usb cables.
Are you using the USB charger with a computer or laptop or plugging straight into the wall with an AC charger?
This does make a difference because if you are charging with a USB + laptop combination you could be suffering from the computer going to sleep and disabling the USB ports power to conserve laptop battery life. If you are having the issue when plugging into the wall, try plugging into a computer and selecting the "Charge Only" option when your USB debug comes up. Once it does this, allow it to charge for a period of time and then turn the phone off, switch to AC power plug and see what happens.
Perhaps you had some kind of over voltage spike on the charger through the AC plug. I could see it possibly tripping something in the phone to stop taking charge to protect the handset.
Also make sure if you do use a laptop, use a USB 2.0 or better port. More power and faster connection. Gotta love it.
Your charger may not be sourcing enough current anymore (for whatever reason). I have seen the exact same behavior with USB car chargers that were only sourcing 100-150mA.
Have you tried plugging the USB cable into a modern desktop PC? (Some laptops have reduced current ports, so a desktop is a safer bet)
Its definitely a current issue. I tried to charge my phone using my bluetooth headset's wall charger, but I got the behavior you are describing. The bluetooth headset's charger just doesnt put out enough current.
Are you using the charger that came with the phone? if so, you may want to exchange the charger...
im having the same problem when i connect it to my desktop, it sees it for about 2 secs n then disappears. My computer at work has no problem seeing the phone. i wonder if i need a driver or something for my usb ports, anyone have any ideas??

Probably not a driver issue, but that that rail from the power supply is either undervolted (say 4.6V instead of 5V), or can't provide enough current (amperage) or both. If I recall correctly, the Evo needs 5V @ 1A (+/- 3% tolerance).
Phone not charging
my phone has been charging fine since I got it... even been using the night desk clock app while sleeping at night for the alarm with it plugged in... everything was good...
With my phone about to die today, I plug it in to the wall charger, the led/batter indicator shows that it is charging... then POW.. it says I have a low battery and it needs to be plugged in... WTH??? it is plugged in!
The only thing I did today was flash the new boot.img for the cap fix over in Toast's thread...
Weird thing now is that I took my hero battery and put it in my EVO, plugged it into wall charger, and it stays charging... So, I put my EVO battery in my hero, plugged it in, and whola... it's now charging...
Please help as I am baffled.

that's your problem right there. that custom kernel is known to have charging issues.
I'm having the same issue with my car charger consistently. Plus my AC charger less consistently. For example, I'll go to bed and plug it in, the next morning I wake up and see the phone is at 80% charge and isn't charging. At some point over night, it gave up. This is with the stock charger too.

[Q] AC charging grinds phone to halt and prevents charging

I'm running:
GEN2
Rooted
ClockworkMod
Swedish Spring Android 2.2 with Gingerbread theme and circle battery
Suddenly after a few weeks of everything working fine, AC charging stopped working. USB charging still works perfectly, and when I plug the phone in it says it is AC charging, but the charge level barely changes - it can be plugged in for 12 hours and not gain or lose any charge. Also, sometimes but not always, the phone becomes very very slow, and sometimes the screen won't unlock - I have to unplug it, unlock, then plug it in again.
I've tried different chargers and cables and combinations thereof, I've tried turning USB charging off or on in Extra Settings, I've tried debug mode on USB or not, hardware acceleration on or off, I've tried charging with the phone off or on, screen on or off, I've tried charging it for 48 hours, the charge level never moves.
This is the closest thread I can find on the issue but it is a mix of problems, and they never find a reliable diagnosis or solution:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/336...rs-stopped-working-but-usb-charging-works-ok/
I don't care if it charges slowly, I'm thinking of trying to mod a USB cable to force it into USB charging mode. Anyone know how?
I far prefer this to re-installing because whenever I connect my phone to my laptop it immediately bluescreens, (despite a fresh Win7 reinstall), and I am lost on my gf's Mac.
These posts describe how to do the opposite (force AC mode) on HTCs:

Thanks enormously for any tips
Chris
Since I lost my charger and had to use a generic micro-USB charger, I have the same problem. USB charge works fine.
May be a problem with the USB cable, have you tried using another one?
(I'm on Ginger Stir Fry, but I don't think it is ROM dependent. )
Thanks for the thoughts. I've tried different cables and chargers and combinations thereof to no avail, hence suspecting something software and looking to mod a cable to force USB mode.
Please anyone know what PINs indicate laptop USB rather than AC USB?
How does my phone know to go into the (disfunctional) AC mode?
Thanks
I think D+ and D- pins (2 and 3) are connected. You would have to mod the charger. Or just use generic USB charger, like those from dealextreme...
