in jeff's kitchen it's mentioned next to the 4.00.10 an 16 roms that u can write a new rom to your sd-card for bootloading "usind the sd-card slot in the device"
is that true? from what i found in the forum u need a sd-card adapter. or is there a way for XDArit or any other software to get the rom onto the sd-card without having to use an adapter (which i dont have right now)
 thx!!!
Just use the cradle the phone comes with and connect with ActiveSync. Then you just go into Windows Explorer on your PC and you can copy and paste to the device just like on your PC.
really? but XDArit only recognizes the hard disk, not the XDA on USB as a drive. So I dont see a chance to create a rom image and write it to the SD card. 'And writing it first to my harddisk would screw the disk, right??
use XDATools...it can do that
ok, sorry for not realizing that in the first place. I never noticed there there is a new tool. :?
thanks!!
Hi,
I have a Vario II that i have flashed many's a ROM on to. However i can no longer do so.
I can get as far as the confirmation screen, click Next, the progress bar appears but remains at zero then a few seconds later activesync crashes.
Flashing the ROM then fails (obviously)
Any idea's?
I have tried searching but found nothing helpful.
p.s. i am flashing via USB
I have expirienced this on the PC at my work. Our PC there has a restriction for USB Drives. The ActiveSync detects my device but when starts to flash the connection is cut. Having an error on the RRU that my USB is disconnected or remove.
Maybe you can check your PC if it can detect your device even without ActiveSync. You can go to your control panel and check if there is no undetected hardwares.
BTW, what is the OS of your PC.?
i'm using XP.
I will try to flash my Kaiser... see if that works.
i can flash my Kaiser so no issues with detection etc.
Still the same issue with my Hermes tho.
Any help appreciated.
Use the SD card flashing method. No need activesync/cable. Read wiki : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing
i had considered that but don't have a card reader. They cost pennies these days so i guess, no excuses!
Cheers.

If you still have a working WM, you can install WM5storage and make your phone act as a card reader/usb thumbdrive. You can then format and copy files normally like using a usb card reader/thumbdrive
Thats odd. Do you use the same connector on your kaiser?
Also may i ask what's your HardSPL Version..?
Happy XMAS :
Go and get your WM7 or Android goldcard for free :
(The goldcard generator works currently for all WM7 HTC phones, including Mozart, Trophy, Gold and Schubert)
Link to the goldcard generator
In order to use the WM7 goldcard, just use an OTG USB Cable with power connector (Y-Cable, see below)
and connect a sdcard reader to it.
Steps to do :
1. Use any FAT32 formatted sdcard and a wm5 or android device to generate the goldcard (Yet we do not know how to read the cid
using WM7)
2. Store the needed firmware file ruu_shipped.nbh to the sdcard (goldcard) with the right filename :
MOZAIMG.nbh for Mozart
SPARIMG.nbh for Trophy
SCHUIMG.nbh for Schubert
GOLDIMG.nbh for Gold
MONDIMG.nbh for Mondrian
3. Insert the sdcard into an sdcard reader (SDcard slot, not microsd-slot for multi readers), connect the y-cable with usb power and
then to the mobile.
4. Press camera+volume down+power on to enter the bootloader in host mode, firmware update will start then.
For OTG cable, you can buy an usb-to-mini-usb otg cable and a power usb adapter,
OR you can build it by yourself, see attachment.

Is there a way to do it replacing directly the card in the slot of the device?
I create a goldcard using goldcard tool, the device see the card but when I update, I have "invalid vender ID". I have a HTC Trophy SFR branded.
Can you help me please?
Thank you in advance
Jean-Philippe
Yes, internal sdcard should also be fine. However, the goldcard generator is only for htc mozart right now. I'll have a look if HTC Trophy can be also added.

Hi Jean, Please can you let me know how to get know CID for mozart on Orange UK. I downloaded the tool and selected both mmco, mmc1 options but always get Failed to get CID message.?
Goldcard tool find the CID only when using a linked device. I used my HTC Desire to find it. It did not work when I try with the SDHC in the PC.

In order to use the WM7 goldcard, just use an Host USB Cable (Developer Y-Cable) and connect a sdcard reader to it.
Edit :
For those who do not understand how to use the goldcard :
- Use any sdcard and a wm5 or android device to make the goldcard (Yet we do not know how to read the cid using WM7)
- Buy a Mini USB On the go Y-Cable like this one :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLOCK-USB-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1292614709&sr=8-1
Also buy a converter from standard usb to micro usb.
OR build a usb otg host cable by yourself.
- Get an external usb sdcard reader
- Connect the cable this way : Phone is connected to 1x usb sdcard reader and 1x usb port for power.
Then you can use your newly generated goldcard for flashing any HTC OEM Rom

I just tested this on a hd7 but it isn't seeing the sd card (I used the card for flashing on wm6.*) I tried all the connections on a Y-cable (the same as what you posted)
It should work fine using an sd cardreader and y-cable.
You might have problems with read-only sd cardreader
OR
if the sd cardreader isn't powered externally (means no sd card reader will work without dc power).
For the latter, be sure that you power the sd cardreader using an external power source.

How can I test/see that ?
I can write on it (I used it to put the .img and .nbh on it)

I did all this (I used the charger for that )
Maybe i'm just stupid, but what can i do with a goldcard on wp7? mozart doesn't even have a microsd card slot. yeah internally for the main sotorage, but i'm not planning on swapping that one very soon.
Thank you very much for the description, though some points are still not clear.
The black end of the Y cable goes to the device, the other black one goes to the SD card reader, the third one which is red colour gets power from the PC.
Through this there is no sync to the PC.
The question is which SD card should be the ROM copy, and under what name the ROM file?
Whoever done such thing before would be highly appreciated to hear the experiecnes!
Thank you in advance, Lifeforce
Just to clear things up :
1. The goldcard generator works currently for all WM7 HTC phones, including Mozart, Gold and Schubert.
2. Connect the y-cable with sdcard reader and inserted goldcard, connect power usb to notebook or charger.
3. Press camera+volume down+power on to enter the bootloader in host mode.
If you haven't got a y-cable (otg), you can build it by yourself, see attachment.

What you wrote is all clear!
The question was, how the ROM will be on the device?
As the PC gives only power to the card reader, ROM cannot be installed from there. (there is no data connection with the PC)
So it seems only solution is that RUU_signed.nbh file should be renamed to something
eg. MOZIMG.NBH (it is a make up word, do not try it )
So the question remains, what should be the name of RUU_signed.nbh, and if it should be copied to the built-in SD card or to the GOLD card?
I expect this upon the connection Schematic and the cable which you sent a link of.
The ruu_signed.nbh should be stored on the goldcard with the filename :
- SCHUIMG.nbh for Schubert
- MONDIMG.nbh for Mondrian
- MOZAIMG.nbh for Mozart
And the goldcard should be in the sdcard reader connected to usb cable.

Hey guys, I have an HD2 (of course) and for some wierd reason the usb connection with the HD2 is not being recognized. The phone charges on the wall and PC, but it doesn't show the "USB" under the bootloader screen. Moreover, when I mount the SDCard o Android and connect the cable, it doesn't show the SDCard on my computer. I have tested with two different cables. I have connected 4 other HD2's and they all work.
My question is: Is it safe to install or update Magdlr from the bootloader option by putting the magdlr.nbh file on the SDCard and renaming it to leoimg.nbh?
Bump it up!
I'm trying to help a friend install a custom rom onto a LG G2 D800. Every instruction I find is telling me to install the rom and GAPPS on my sd card. I understand the process, I used to root and install custom roms all the time years ago, but this phone does not support a sd card.... is there any way to still install a custom rom to this phone. KitKat is to 2014 and we are trying to update it a little.
thanks.
use usb-otg memory stick...
btw sd card on this device is "internal memory" partition
just don't format it while flashing a new rom if you plan to put the installation files on that exact partition...
for me it's easier to do everything with the external usb-otg stick... but that's me

@60nine Sorry, but how exactly would you copy the install files on to the usb-otg memory stick? If I plug in the usb stick to my LG G2, then I can't connect the phone to my PC via usb cable. Don't I need to use adb to copy the files to the usb stick? That's what I see in all the instructions.
Or can I plug the usb stick to my PC; copy the files to it using Windows; then plug it into my phone? Would the files be recognized in TWRP for flashing? I'm new to all this and I'm trying to flash LineageOS 14.1 to my LG G2.
Thanks for your help.

i thought this was obvious
yes - first copy all the needed files to usb/otg on your computer...
then plug usb/otg into your mobile phone and use it as an install source (just remember to select usb/otg in twrp as a source instead of sd card)
