it is possible to overclock Shift ?? 20% ?? - Shift General

i use Shift from 1 month now as my main business computer.
It is a slow toy but i spent a lot of time to optimize vista and now it should be approx ok. I dream to have 2 GO but for the moment as i saw in the forum, there is no solution.
I know that Shift will never be fast , but is it possible to overclock about 20%
without burning the processor.
thanks for help !!!

what's your average battery life?

hey guys, i just got my wing last week, but it feels like my battery life is really low (with moderate use).
i have opentouch 6.5 lite + s2ul and get barely 1 day. could you drop what you guys are getting so i can figure where i stand? and if you have any tips on whats wrong then any advice would be welcome also of course.
thanks all.
I only got my wing about 2 months ago and had been using just the stock ROM that came with it this whole time, id usually get about 2 days out of it. Which is cool considering how much texting i do throughout the day.
Anyhow, Im a total noob at this flashing roms thing, but i just flashed to Open Touch v3.0 Biggy last night, not overclocked though, still running at 201mhz. Its been about 13 hours since i unplugged from a full charge and im down to 69%. I have been constantly fiddling with it since

I'm running open touch 6.5 and I'm overclocked to 283 and i get about 2 to 2.5 days out of it with normal usage.
Is WiFi always on? That'll drain it faster than Speedy Gonzales.
I can get 4 days out of it, but i've got a ridiculous battery.
I depends on what I'm doing. If I'm at work a lot of times I play music over bluetooth to my speakers. If I'm doing that I get about half a day and I'm at 30%. But thats also with texting and web browsing. If I'm not doing any of that I'm I go about 2 days.

4 days???? Do you have a different battery? I would assume it's a little bigger physically?
no actually its stock and its new and 4 days is when i do absolutely nothing with it
Well, duh. If I don't do anything with it, mine lasts 4 days, too. If I actually use it, no more than 2. Much less if I turn on wlan.
heres what i find to help my battery out a lot.
make sure you have wifi on ONLY when you need it, i have it in my home, but don't rly use it every on my wing cuz my laptop works perfectly fine and i feel like the total internet add on is fast enough.
install schaps advanced configuration tool and under power management make sure the first four options are enabled (default is disabled) and then under bluetooth (i dont EVER use bluetooth) disable obex. when you finish it should ask you to soft reset.
if all this ISNT done i notice my battery drain like crazy, but with this it rly does make a lot of a difference. hope this helps

Thanks For [email protected] Tip, But It All Depends On What You Use Your Phone 4. If Im Texting And IMing Alot, Ill Usually Get Thru The Day, But Itll Have Me Worried @ Night If I Have No Charger. But If I Use It Lightly(No AIM) Prolly About 2 Days.
true true
also you should have radio 3.18.90, best battery life with that i have seen. and i can usually get out a couple days with texting, web browsnig, and phone when i have this radio and the schaps tip i mentioned earleir
Depends on what I'm doing, but generally the battery life is somewhere between ok and crappy
I use it for work and personal, so it varies. On the weekend I don't spend that much time on the phone, so it's not bad, easily gets me through the day anyway. During the week, I make and take a lot of calls, do some texting (not much) and send/receive a ton of e-mail on it. So on a bad workday I've drained it almost dead twice. I'm usually either near an outlet or in the car though, so I just keep a charger handy and it works out alright. With the Rom I'm using and my little toys on there it's about as efficient and fun a phone as I've had so far.
Syn
well, i tried configuring with schaps, and battery life did improve a little, but it still only lasts one day. sometimes all i do is text, but still the battery drains so fast. i'm guessing it's the S2UL, as that's the only other factor that i can think of. kinda surprised that someone can reach 4 days, as that would be perfect in my case.. :/

Share your experiences with Topaz (Diamond2)

I'm considering buying Diamond2 and glad to hear your experiences with device..I checked the forum posts and I noticed many problems like quick battery drain, heating issues
I also find good reviews of Omnia II so It is really difficult to decide between OmniaII and diamond2
OmniaII better hardware but bad UI and less support
Diamond2 better UI (touch flo 3d) and good support but hardware issues
Your help will be very appreciated
well, having TD2 for 5 months now, I cand say some things. I have read the forum from April till now and many problems have occured. But many of there, I haven't witnessed in my device. The whole idea is that luck plays a major part here. Depending on what device you receive.
My battery lasts about 4 days with some calls, music not so much internet and a lot of texting. Seems okay to me.
other problems ... practically non-existent. I must add that it all depends on what you want form your device. There a re many who start changing settings in registery, changing windows mobile and so on and they end up asking what to do. If you mind your own business, nothing bad will come to you
Hope this helps. Cheers!! <any more questions, will be happy to answer>

Agree!
I have the TD2 and it's worked perfectly all along. The battery drain is a factor with heavy use, but not more so than any other smart phone.

Here, using Nataly`s ROM and the newest Radio, I can get ~3 days with 1 full charge, and thats because I charge my phone when it gets about 25% remaining charge (Im afraid to need to use the GPS or something and the battery dies )

Who said that I don`t use all features ? I just don`t use ALL the time...
I don`t need to be with my phone on hands all the time... I hardly use GPS (using Garmin Mobile XT), SMS text, MP3 player and phone calls.. Still can get this battery life.
Thank you for your replies,
With TESS 3.4 and Radio 3.47 I'd get 3 days with around a half-hour wifi use per day, light texting and calls, updating weather, g/f playing bubble breaker etc.
Very capable device, immensely happy with it.

THAT is the problem..
You are using STOCK ROM (Windows)...
Just see the benchmarks of all ROMs and you can see that stock ROM SUCK all ways !!!
Just flash a new ROM and see the difference.

Well, the problem is... All LEO ROMs are power drainers... Just try TESS 2F or Nataly`s ok!
i get average power drain on Dutty's ROM (R5).
lasts between 1.5-3 days...depending on what i do.
seeing as i use my bluetooth headset to listen to musice, while jogging/cycling in the forest and using the GPS/Garmin XT AND then browse WebCT at university via WiFi...i dont think ANY device would last much more than 1 day... and yet it does... AND i call and sms 1-5 times a day. (short calls though.)
as for the diamond as such, my ONLY complaint is the shiny back cover...i WISH it was matte (it will be soon with my matte acrylic paint coming)... everything else is AWESOME! (except the standard keyboard...i still have to find a new one i like.)
hope that helps

As far as I know nueDynamic Clock only works for the older chipsets. As Snapdragon has a different architecture it might not work. But not entirely sure.
Something similar ...
It is not working , of course .
I tried myself , and it can`t be instaled.
But some similar soft , or registry tweak ?
Chalenge for chefs !
Every new Rom release is focusing on Speed and stability , but not a SINGLE one on batery life !!!
Why is that ? Is not Important to you to have an extended period of uptime for your device ?
Here is a chalenge for you Chefs !
Develop a stable Rom with low consumption and great batery life !
Thanks !

The battery life on this phone is pitiful. The phone is professional liability without a spare battery or charger on you. Which totally defeats the purpose of making it slim.
If you cant travel without an extra batter or usb cable then HTC should have just put a bigger bulker battery in.
What happened to practical design. The phone has to function above all else. If you want snapdragon processing (which we all do) you must have a large capacity battery.
Nobody who owns and HD2 can expect to get through a full day of using the phone without the need for juice. I run out of power every single day and I am constantly enabling the in flight wireless shut off to save power.
Which of course means I risk missing phone calls.
Beyond that (and the audio lag) its a great device. Its just not ready for everyone yet. It operates like a prototype for a great phone for me.

I get 3 days out of mine from a single charge. I don't have any push services or overly regular updates. Apart from 1 email account that checks every 15 minutes, I set the others to every hour, set the weather update to every hour and set MyPhone to only run once a week. I was always a little cynical about people saying they could get longer than a day out of it, but then I actually tried it and it works.
Anyway, back to the OP. From what I've read on here, you don't need to "under-clock" the CPU as the chip only runs at its required speed - that's part of the Snapdragon design. Like I said - I'm just repeating what I've read on here.
...but it's already under-clocked during normal usage.

this phone is very anti-productive.

I thought this phone was supposed to increase productivity!
that is truly a false statement.
I've been playing with this phone for 24 hours now, and I don't think it'll stop anytime soon.
It takes a while, you will get used to what's on it, configure it to your needs and either:
a) Use it when you need it
b) Continually flash the ROM and reconfigure the device
Enjoy.

thank God I went for option a). anyway... I do agree that it's the coolest piece of pocket gadgetry at the moment. a true next gen phone/pda.
Definitely... I'm regularly getting addicted to my new toys, but the HD2 is by far the one for which the first excitement / loss of time phase has been the longest for me ever. I'm not even sure it's over yet, after 6 weeks
I'm on the other boat. Just bought this 2 wks ago. Rushed the job to get it set up to my preferred standards (I've owned Win CE machines since late 90s...so this was pretty quick).
Now, one ROM upgrade and 4 days of setup later, it's my daily machine and I'm easily used to it. Want to play more on it...but no time due to other responsibilities
BTW -- I didn't know this thing can handle Unreal Tournament!

Mine's T-Mobile USA version, so no ROM flashing for me yet. thank god...
I'd first love to get used to the stock ROM so that I'll appreciate the changes made when I flash.
Having the Data Connections on, drains so much battery, it's ridiculous.
In 1 hour, I've lost 11% battery just by sending 3 text messages, and writing 2 emails.
But when the data connection was off, and 3G off, it seemed to be doing fine.
Auto-disconnect seems to help lots.
But then I just got this yesterday, and only went through 1 charging cycle.
Guess I'll have to condition this battery for a few days before I can evaluate the battery usage.

Figures. Still haven't found a decent FPS for the HD2 yet. Oh well.
As for battery life -- yeah let it run for a few days. From reading the forums, it seems it takes the first charge for the ROM to "settle in" with the battery life...then things improve.
FWIW, I use no data connections, and I get 2 days of use out of my phone.

[Q] Posible fault of my battery?

Hello
Please a little help.I got a nexus 7 from a week now.Is my first tablet and my first gadget with android.
When i bought it i saw on google specification that the baterry life is around 9h.I know that this will never be but...maybe a 5-6h can be done?Or is my baterry so bad?
Maxim that i manage to do was 2days 23h, 30 min with screen on 4h and 8 min.
Its ok like this?
Now..the bigger problem.Today i recharged it again and after that i just browse a bit and the baterry drop from 100% to 86%.(screen on was 58min)Dont think its ok to drop like that only just because i read some forums.
Android version is 4.2.1.I made the update but only that.(no root or some like that- the rest is just the original)
So..please can you tell me...i must go and ask for a new one?
Will try to put some pictures(the last 2 recharges),maybe will make a better opinion.
Thank you

Your N7 is perfectly fine. Were pretty much the same when it comes to battery life. I get 1day 5hr and 9min. with screen on 5hr and 32min. The 9hr life that google said is pure BS. Don't ever assume all the things that the company said to their product cuz it's just their marketing strategy to make people buy the product. However, you can achieve 9 hours MAYBE if you underclock the CPU and the GPU and lower the brightness. But your's is PERFECTLY FINE my friend. Hope this helps. Don't forget to click the thank you button if this somewhat helps you get an idea.
