AP4 WIFI doesnt start - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Hello everyone, this post is for people who have wifi issues like i do.. i flashed the final release of AP4 and i cant start wifi, any solution yet? i even reflashed again just to make sure its not some glitch while flashing. i know in the maual it says to refer to the thread about it.. i couldn't find anyone complaining yet. Maybe there aren't many of us who flashed ap4 already. just a note to all people who haven't flashed yet, i tried to flash on vista 64 twice and it failed so save yourself the trouble and try another operating system such as the reliable xp!

They have a solution, the solution for the alpha had to be made for each user. I imagine it is the same here, one of the team members should be able to fix it for you.

thanks master, ill wait for someone to help me through mine.. so its a fixable thing , i don't have to hard reset anymore, can i continue and customize my device ? the wait for the solution?

No wifi

Same here, I'm also unable to start wifi in the comm manager.
Cheers,
HJ

you need to see olinex,
but they may ask for a donation to fix it.... they were asking for one fom those who flashed the leaked version and got ****ed up
i think its a special file you run on your phone to fix it

well, I thought the issue was fixed in final flasher - apparently not, but we think we know how to make a permanent fix for it. seems to be issue mostly on vista, but the real cause isn't vista itself. watch this space
until then I strongly recommend that you use XP to flash AP4.
and no, no donations are required, not your fault for flashing the officially announced release. of course they are always welcome

No biggie I will wait till there is a solution.
Again thanks for the rom.

I reflash my rom to ap3 and repair wife, wifi turn on OK, and reflash ap4 ,but wifi not turn on.

samething happen..
the rest are awsome

There will be new support added soon to assist the AP team in fixing WiFi problems, and yes it requires a custom file to be prepared for each device. You MUST HAVE your original MAC address available to receive the AP4 fix. On many devices this is listed on the Battery door. Others of you may have this stored in the address table of your access point or WiFi router's MAC table.
I just read (above) that someone has flashed back to the modified AP3 and their WiFi worked there. If this is true, then the worst case if you can't find your MAC is to flash the modified AP3, write down your MAC then reflash to AP4 and get the fix. I have not personally tested this as I do not have the WiFi problem at present.
IF you have your MAC address and you are waiting for the customized file to fix you AP4 Wifi, send me a PM with your information and I will begin a first come, first serve queue for getting your AP4 fixed. You will need MTTY to apply the fix, so if you don't have that or you don't know about it, you can read up on it in the mean time. regards, raskell

sorry, i already pm. thank!

So you have WiFi problems, I did so read on.
Here is a quick guide to the WiFi not working, learnt from someone who's been there himself!
Your WiFi doesn't work normally because there was a problem Flashing to AP 4.0. Mine went wrong as I still had my memory card in while trying to flash to AP 4.0 beta (authorised! not the leaked issue), and after another attempt at flashing, then going back to AP 3.0 and then back up to AP 4.0 again I got it on but no WiFi. So what you need is a file from cmonex that she makes personally from your MAC address, you then use this with mtty to set up wifi again. It is quite a simple thing to do, BUT you have to have your MAC code first before even contacting cmonex. It should be inside the door of the battery lid, if not I, understand you could use a MAC address from anything else YOU own with WiFi. I think it would also be a help if you had mtty ready as well, then you would be set up to go.
Please remember that it is not cmonex's fault your WiFi don't work, A text book flash WILL leave you with a working WiFi, so be ready to donate a little to her for her help, its only fair I think. let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to help within the limits of my knowledge on this problem. I can't help with any MAC bin files, sorry!
All the best
Jay

Help NOW for AP4 broken WiFi
I can now assist you if your WiFi failed to start after installing AP4. You must have the NEW SPL, working AP4 and your original MAC address. Send me your MAC in a PM (Private Message) and I will make you a correction file specific to your MAC address. I need an e-mail address to send you the file. DO NOT PASS on the file or the fix instructions as they are custom to your device, and believe me you do not want 100's of people around the world using your MAC addess. I keep a log and a copy of each file created and will be happy to assist you on a first come first serve basis.
I am doing this to assist the AP4 team, with their permission, so that they can attend to more pressing issues. We want your devices to be fixed and for you to be satisfied with AP4.
Kind Regards,
Raskell
p.s. - I am in (GMT-5) so support will be based around reasonable hours (for me) - I will do the best I can given that I am only one person

Thats what I wanted to do but didn't have the right software so, well done Raskell.

if they don't have the original mac anymore, then it is fine if it is just some unique enough MAC, ask them to provide another device's mac address that they have, then edit that address a bit.

Recovery Image needed

Of course, as old veteran, I had to play with my shift. And playing for me means, get deep into that thing.
So I unhid the recovery partition and backed it up. I created a recovery DVD and tested it.
After, I enabled the full capacity of the HDD and ran the recovery. Everything went fine and Vista was back up.
I then formatted the beast again and installed ubuntu...again, no problem.
But then, to my shock, I couldnt run the recovery DVD anymore. Maybe carelessly, I dropped something on its surface and now it gives me a read error and breaks off the recovery. I used ImageX.exe to verify the Xvista.wim, but it confirmed that the wim was not
valid.
Too bad, but now I dont have a recovery possiblity.
I hope someone can help me. I am able to provide my 100mbit ftp for up and downloads.
Recovery
I am also looking for an English recovery image.
I found a nice tool which can mount *.WIM files as a standard drive or folder. With this tool its easy to modify the XVISTA.WIM and the BOOT.WIM.
All I need now is a working recovery partition.
I want to slipstream a Vlite version of Vista and see if i can get it all working.
HTC Service is a nightmare
I install the vista manager, trying to speed up the boot time, but it crash the vista.. , when i try to use F3 to recover, it show blue screen in the middle.
since no recover disc provide, so i try to install xp instead. But i found some function key not work on Shift. so i decide send back to HTC for fixing it, it just a a days only new computer. but HTC want to charge me HK$7XXX ( US$1000 ) . They said i void the warranty term because of installing XP. What i think is the hidden partition ( recovery ) has problem....
I am very disappoint with them, and i will tell everyone about their bad treatment to customer.
By the way, can someone help me to get the ORIGINAL image of the hdd. ??
i already uploaded my (english) recovery image to someone's ftp server.
it took me several days because my upload is less than 40kbyte/s.
so I don't feel re-uploading elsewhere, but:
the image is still on the ftp.
I'll ask if he can give access to you guys.

Problem solve , and HTC CARE ( HK ) really bad
Finally I solve the problem, maybe it can help some other user.
1. Format your HDD with Low level ( don't use quick format ) .
2. reboot and press Shift F3....
3. All the blue screen and error won't appear again.
I am happy with it, but i spend more than 2 days to solve the problem.
But I am very disappoint with Hong Kong HTC, they want to charge me for us$1000 to fix the problem, and claim that i damage the hardware, and need to replace the motherboard... I just brought if for few day and under warranty.
They are really cheating customer. I hope their management guy to contact me by [email protected] , and APOLOGIZE for their BIG mistake.
I will post to all FORUM , newsgroup and let the user know how they treat the customer.
First Recovery Image up
The first image file is up and can be grabbed from here.

Its a 3GB bin file, dumped by using Pof's guide, which can be

***I believe the language is Japanese,*** ITS IN ENGLISH!!!!! but I already created a patch to change a fresh installation to any desired language.
More about this later.
I would appreciate it, if someone could send me another recovery image
and also the /Program Files/HTC folder.
unfortunately the guy who has the ftp hasn't replied to me yet and I don't want to give out the login info without permission.
in the worst case, if you can guarantee the image will indeed be public for a long while, then I can take the pain to upload it again to whatever server you give me a login to.
still no reply from this guy I mentioned; but someone else also has the english recovery partition (in 7z, yuck!) on a server, this is not public, but I asked him to PM you all. please do not give out the login info he gives to you.

Wi-Fi Drivers, libs

I want to know have can i solve my wifi problems without installing new rom on it.
What is the wireless driver, where are they in my system files?
We can fix the camera issues with changing camera lib files. Can i do that for wifi?
Wifi Problem is ;
I can connect wifi, first it was work fine. After several minutes it dropped and not connect any internet, after several seconds it reconnectted. It always keep going this way.
Can you please help me on this?
What ROM version are you running?
B137 stock and modaco.com/content/huawei-u8800-ideos-x5-u8800-modaco-com/342205/23-june-b137-r3-flb-custom-rom-for-the-huawei-u8800-with-online-kitchen/
I have two of them on my clockwork recovery. Both of them have same issue. I want to try other roms, but its too hard for me to give the time for each rom. So i want to try other roms wifi libs, driver, firmwares.
Not a fan of 137s I've tried so far...You should try these versions:
- V100R001C00B136 (Overseas General version) 2011-05-17
- V100R001C17B160CUSTC17D002 (China Unicom) 2011-04-29
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800
To install any of the ROMs, just download the Huawei Firmware you want and unzip it, there should be a folder called "dload" copy that folder and its contents to your sdcard.
Power off phone then hold both volume buttons while powering on the phone, the update should start.
I don't understand why you think it's easier to change a lib/driver and spend a huge amount of time trying to get it to work, when it takes 30 minutes to install a new ROM and all previous applications, if synced with a Google account. When I first got the phone, I've installed like 6-7 ROMs in a matter of hours...
So, in my opinion, you should try the B160 or B136 before you actually start fiddling around with libs.

) I've read your post, but if you think this is windows, where you can just change the wifi drivers, you're in for a treat . The newer ROMs wifi is fine, so whatever you're doing, you're obviously not doing it right or you have a faulty phone.

IF IS A WINDOWS, I CAN CHANGE DRIVER FROM SYSTEM32/DRIVERS. Or install new driver for it. Newer roms are for WHO ? Mine and other my friends in turkey, have same problem. Even they updated the B137 with updata.app from original sources.
Please if you don't know or understand my post, just leave it to be. Obviosly i can't decribe my problem to you.
The whole windows thing was a comparison...All I was trying to say is that upgrading drivers is NOT EASY, as the problem may not be in the lib file.
You better go and learn some ENGLISH, before you try and understand the answers you're given. ) quote "Are you understand me?"
Very very few people have wifi problems like you are experiencing. This isn't to say it doesn't happen as obviously you are having issues, but it's not a rom issues. It's likely that your problem is either a hardware issue with the phone or an issue with your router settings.
Currently there aren't any alternative wifi libs you can try since all the roms are using exactly the same wifi libs which are located in the kernel image, not the system.
I've been experiencing the same problem -international B136 ROM- however I think it may be the router that is the cause of it. Whilst in the main house with the new wireless g router, no issues, everything works fine. In my extension with the old wireless b router the problem happens all the time.
The problem doesn't really bother me to much, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents just in case you were after some more information on the issue =)

Definitely, if you've got something like B133, the first thing you have to do is upgrade to 136-137 or 160. You will see huge improvements in terms of Wifi.
is there any problem in b136 or b160? Which one should i apply?
In my view, the best of stock ROMs is B160. The battery lasts longer and it's got less problems.
how can i see my rom version? and do u send offical b160's link?
Go to Settings >>About Phone and scroll down to Build Number. It should look like this U8800V100R001C00B133SP01 and the bit that interests you is B133 or whatever version you've got.
Since Modaco Wiki is down, try this link:

B160 is called China Unicom in that list.
I've managed to get a cached version of Modaco Wiki that is currently down.

How to connect to a Mobile HotSpot. 2ways.

Hi guys,
Since the mobile hot spot is an adhoc networks, so tablet cannot recognise it
directly.
So I found a instruction which is called can solve this problem.
We simply replace the original wpa_supplicant with the new one.
And put it in /System/Bin/.
I did the root and copy, but it still cannot find the adhoc hotspot for me.
So anyone have any idea?
Solution 1: solving it with the magic "wpa_supplicant"
Solution 2: changing the configuration of hotspot in my mobile to a normal wifi.
I'm waiting for anyone who can solve this.
Cheers
Winston
Hmm. I have a mytouch 4G and the A500 connects to the hotspot easily. No mods, rooting etc. needing.
Is this in relation to phones that are using less than carrier proposed methods for enabling hotspots?
Hi Neo,
According to what I have had known so far, it seems that google blocks this function,
so someone modified the wap_supplicant to enable the hotspot functionality.

Solution 2 depends on your specific phone and its implementation. My Droid for instance doesn't support infrastructure hotspot (outbound), so I had to use the "magic wpa_supplicant" approach. Other phones may support infrastructure mode, either directly or through a 3rd-party wifi tether app.
In terms of solution 1 - if you get the wpa_supplicant (apparently a new version has been posted for those of us w/ 3.1 update) you also need to reset the permissions on the file to match that on the original file (which I know you backed up, right? ); easiest way would be through Root Explorer and set Read: (Owner/Group/Others), Write (Owner only) and Execute (Owner/Group). I'm too lazy to remember what the Terminal Emulator chmod command would be
As a reminder to all who do choose to replace wpa_supplicant, keep a copy of the original file, you never know when Acer's going to require a specific original file for any future updates (wpa_supp wasn't needed for the 3.0.1 update but was for 3.1)
Yes I would say do not delete or move the old file just rename by adding old to end of file name. Its how I done it renamed did the update changed back. And now all is well again.I used the same replacement file from before. No need for a new. Version
Hi Vereyn,
Thanks a lot.
Could you please provide the link to download?
Frankly, I have tried all wpa_supplicant in this forume.
None of them works for me.
My version is Android 3.0.1
Acer ICONIA A5011, rather than A500.
Cheers

Mac filtering and playing with ROMs

Hey guys. I know I'm new here and it's probably been answered somewhere, but I can't find it. Here goes - One of the WLAN networks I use most is protected by MAC filter. Yes, it's necessary. The thing is everytime I flash a new ROM I need to change MAC address in network configuration. Is there anything I can do to keep/set a constant MAC? A script or something?
My kernel is the latest Dorimanx kernel 6.4.

I remember reading a thread where one guy had 2 HD2's and they both had the same ROM on it. And he wasnt able to connect both HD2s to his router because the router only would accept one MAC address. It wouldnt accept two mac addresses of the same value. I remember him being successful in changing the mac of one of them. But i went back to page 18 and couldnt find it again. Im trying to search but i cant find it -.-
EDIT: Found the thread,
use a root browser to change wifi mac address.I recommend root browser lite.Go to /system/etc/ folder.Find and open for editing the file "calibration" and in the first line you will see the wifi mac address.Put another one, save the file and you`re ready to go

But we are on CM7 not sense. So i found this but i havent tried it as i have no need. I havent found anything else so i hope that works.
(that's not what he means, i don't think, , i think he already knows how to change teh mac, but wants a script he can run once when he changes rom so that he always has the same mac for every rom, without having to manually edit it every time, something like provxml did for winmo.)

Thank you very much for the reply, but I can't seem to find this file. I'm using rooted ES File Explorer and it's just not there. Should it be there in ICS too?

[Q] MT4g No Wifi MAC Address (Virtuous Affinity Rom 2.05.0)

So I recently flashed Virtuous Affinity 2.05.0 on my MT4g glacier.
It is awesome. However, I have run across the issue that the wifi will not work.
In looking at the wifi MAC address in system info and in wifi settings it says "Not Available".
I'm sure this is a software thing, but I don't have the files to fix it.
This thread I think solved the exact issue, but the problem is that the files that were uploaded to solve the issue are no longer available at that download site. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23627603
I've tried doing multiple searches to get this same information, but I don't know really what needs to be changed how, and while I normally believe that as long as you back it up and if it's broken you only really can fix it or make it break differently, I would still rather not try checking random files in hopes that it will work.
So does anybody know where I could possibly get those files that are uploaded by bsbachert or have any idea how to fix it?
I really hope I'm not stuck on this rom, because this is pretty sweet.

Try flashing a different kernel, the files mentioned seem like modules, and different AndroidOS use different type of modules. Any kernel for that AndroidOS should probably fix it.
Or just switch roms to something like Cyanogen9 or AOSPx.
But then again, I don't really know anything lol.

Flash the Frosted Cherry Kernel by Synthetic.Nightmare.
It should work...
