Hi
I have upgraded to Activsync 3.7.1 and although the sync works between Outlook and PPC I cannot explore the PPC either using explore on the ActivSync menu or My Computer My Device.
I am trying to install TomTom 2 Maps to my SD card and it is not being regionised.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting the same. Any anyone else experienced this? I would be very grateful for any ideas on how to sort this.
Many thanks
Matt
An update
I preformed a hard resent on the device and still I cannot explore the PPC. HELP PLEASE.
Matt
So no problems before
So if I understand it right, You didn't had any problems before the upgrade to 3.7.1
That is correct, worked fine.
Make sure you've got all explorer windows closed before syncing.
If you have a previous window open, before syncing none of the windows will display anything - you need to sync and then open explorer
That is strange
I don't have to close any window.
OK. so if you place the machine into the craddle, you won't get the message connecting to.. is that right?
Hi
I do also have a problem with active sync 3.7.1 when I want to sync anything on my PC with my XDA.
I can only explore my device if I don't select contact, mail or something, otherwise my XDA crashes and I do have to do a soft-reset.
Try to have your partnership without any syncronisation... even if it bothers me a lot, I can currently live without syncronisation... hopefully I find the time to investigate this issue.
Does anybody has the same expierence ????
I don't want to do it with try-and-error...
What are your connection settings
Are all the three boxes ticket under connection settings? ( under active sync)
i seem to recall that zonealarm need to let some program get access before i can sync
other software firewall may require the same thing
including windows internal firewall
It worked before with older version so
If it worked fine with the older version, then it must be about settings within the new version (Igues)
When you installed the new version of activ sync, did you also altablish a new full partnership?
activesync hangs @ 91%
been doing wuite a bit of work on both the phone and laptop... no complaints at all.. but this morning AS didnt work.. so i uninstalled and reinstalled it again.. hoping that itd get back to place.. but while installing from CD or HD it stops @ 91%. says wceusbsh.cab file is not being read..! took it to the system administrator.. removed all entries from registry... and modified the evnt viewer as well.. everythng in vain..
the last retort is to take the back up of my comp.. and reinstall OS.. but is there anything i can do to avoid it..?

'm not sure if I have a problem with Activesync because I have installed pocket weather and although it displays on my front today screen, it's blank, it just says no weather data available.
It has not appeared in the list of options to sync and the other thing that's odd, when I click on 'file' and 'connection settings' in Active sync, nothing happens, nothing comes up?
I had 'worldmate' on my old XDA and I tried that on this one and had the same proble so that makes me think it's Active sync.
I have 4.2 but I have also tried 3.8 and 4.0 with the same issue?
Any ideas on this one?
does anyone do this?
i just got a laptop and want to be able to sync my phone to both
but i don't want to have to keep resetting everything each time? ie. this time i went from laptop to PC it says i need to re-synchronize everything!?
is there a way to designate which profile i want to sync to laptop and which to pc??
like i'm synching now and i see laptop and pc on the phone but theres no way i see to tell the phone which settings to synch to the pc and which to the laptop
i guess it wont matter if the same stuff ends up on all three as long as i dont have to do this "re-synch" each time, and im assuming that it came up because i lastly synched with the laptop
the message said something along the lines of "something on your server has changed and you will need to re-synchronize all files. all files since your last synch will be lost"
I have to say that I don't get this problem. Emails can only be synced on one PC but the other stuff can sync to 2. My PPC now works as a proxy between my home and work PCs keeping the contacts, calendar and tasks synced between both.
Not sure what you are doing wrong - it just works out of the box for me.
I had a Cingular 8125 with NBD TouchFLO roms, but I ended up selling it so I could purchase a HTC Touch.
I posted this question in the ELF thread but nobody had an answer.
I thought I would post it here since the touch is a Pocket PC with WM6 installed and the Wizard thread is very active.
So, the problem I'm having is:
When I start up the HTC Touch, ActiveSync is running. I stop it, but sooner or later it will show up in the Tasks running again. I'll leave the HTC Touch alone for awhile, come back and ActiveSync is running again.
I did the ActiveSync Fake server Trick(Fake IP, Set schedules to Manual, etc..), but that didn't help.
I only had the HTC Touch for a couple of days. I haven't installed any programs. I even did a Hard Reset, but ActiveSync still runs.
Here is the Fix:
In the windows/activesync directory there is a file called “CtrlLog” file, in the file I noticed that at certain times it would say “KeepAwake” so I knew there had to be something trying to keep ActiveSync running.
I download an app called “Task Manager by FdcSoft”, cool little app for Free, it showed me all the processes running in the background. The one that caught my eye is a process called “repllog.exe”, because it had an ActiveSync icon next to it.
So just messing around with “Task Manager” I went to “Notifications” and noticed there were three “repllog.exe” in the notifications list towards the bottom. After disabling and enabling “repllog.exe” one by one, I believe the one that is causing ActiveSync to keep restarting itself is the “repllog.exe” that has an Argument named AppRunAfterTimeChange(must scroll to the right to see it). So I disabled that particular “repllog.exe” and did a Soft Reset.
I no longer see ActiveSync in the Task Manager list unless I connect to the PC using a USB cable.
NOTE: This procedure might not work for everyone. I have a HTC Touch with WM6.
Get Task Manager here: http://ppcfree.com/en/index.php?soft=1612

Good luck, I've had that same problem in WM5 and WM6 and noone seems to know why it's happening. I've just learned to deal with it and shut it back off when I notice it running. Having x-button installed helps since all you have to do is click the button at the top of the today screen and see what programs are running and then shut it off. You might also check your commanager and see if it has an activesync disable button and just disable activesync when you're not using it.
ActiveSync won't STOP re-starting itself on HTC Touch. >>>FIXED<<<
I no longer see ActiveSync in the Task Manager list unless I connect to the PC using a USB cable. No more restarting itself.
NOTE: This procedure might not work for everyone. I have a HTC Touch with WM6.
I edited my first post, the fix is there.
Novak
Thanks KidNovak, I'll have to try that one out.
The reason activesync turns on it self because it is made that way, for example if you have microsoft exchange configured and you want the phone to get email asap it arrives, there is no way for phone to ask mail server to send the email to phone if the activesync isnt running. Now if activesync is on and you are on exchange then activesync connects it self to server and look to see if there is new email or any changes. That is the reason activesync turns on. Microsoft is Dumb it should only activate activesync to start it self if you setup exchange but i guess its a big hassel for them. Therefore concluding the top, it is perfectly normal.
I've got a problem with activesync too, my Cingular 8125, with Faria's rom, don't syncronise with all the contacts and the calendar of my pc.
This worked for me, thanks!
Novak - you seem to be in the know
Could you tell me how to install that .exe file onto my htc touch? I have a mac computer. Do I just install the file onto the device and then click on it when it's on there? If so, does it then go into my programs list?
Disregard...think I got it working!
followed your guide word for word and your fix worked for me HTC Prophet thanks so much for this fix
thnks it is working but everytime i disconnect my 818pro from my pc i need to terminate the activesync from the process folder and restart again..
Totally worked! Qtek S200 with WM6.1
My HTC HD Mini has stopped syncing Outlook notes for unknown reasons!
I am running Windows 7 / Windows Mobile Device Center, and Outlook 2007.
Everything used to work fine, and then one day when I connected my phone, I get the following error:
Window Title: Windows Mobile Device Center
Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator.
If I go into the WMDC "change content sync settings' and remove Notes from the list, I don't get the error.
Everything else seems to sync fine, it's just notes that causes the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it, as I rely on my notes like I rely on my fingers, i.e. I use them ALL the time!
I've resorted to using a spare PC to sync my notes for now, but it's not ideal.
maybe you can delete partnership at all, then re-creeate new partnership ?
But.. make back-up to contacts and data first..
brgds.
Yeah, I tried that already, but thanks for trying to help anyway.
I'm about to wipe the device, and then install the three updates from the HTC website. But I have a feeling it wont fix the issue....
