Tom Tom Bluetooth

I am looking to purchase tom tom blue tooth GPS for my XDA II. has anyone tried this, does it work with the XDA II
It works perfectly with xda2, make sure you use the latest gps driver which is 2.09, you can then use a bluetooth gps without using any patches.
Tom tom on e bay
Has any one purchased the tom Tom blue tooth's from "uncle sams" on E bay, for use in the XDA II. Is this seller reliable? £239 for a blue tooth tom tom 4 seems cheap
Works fine on my french XDA II, I added voice messages when radar boxes are in proximity (60s ... 10s), really efficient stuff (and fun!), esp in France where brand new radars are installed everywhere - !!
i've bought mine off uncle sam....they're importers for rikaline.....worked well till my battery went flat in xda .....fast service and good support
when you say the battery went flat, does the Tom Tom bluetooth kit not include a car charger or does the one they supply not keep up with the power consumed ????????
The Tom Tom Bluetooth kit is on sale for $350

That's our co brand with Mobile Planet. I think thats a pretty good deal, not sure what the conversion is.
I need one with a UK / Europe data base.
Having researched bluetooth gps quite a bit, there is something you need to know, if the bt gps has an internal battery, you may find after a year that you have another paperweight when the battery dies. The Fortuna Gpsmart uses standard AAA batteries so wont have this problem, there are a few on the market that sell replaceable battery type gps but they are few and far between, so my advice when buying bt gps is to ask about availability of spare battery, if no replacement is available I would not buy the gps.
Where did you find the best dfeal on the fortuna & did you get it with Tom Tom 2 ??????? :?:
I got my gps from ebay, paid £80 for it, I "found" a copy of tomtom2 on overnet.
XDAII+BT GPS+TOMTOM
I bought fortuna BT clipon GPS (takes nokia cellphone batts) charge lasts for about 8 hrs, was £120 from net.
Tomtom 2 was £90 bestbuy on net.
XDAII £150 on £20/month contract from CPW.
256M sd card, £50 from net
I use dealtime/bestbuy to get keen prices, then negotiate with store there on.

TomTom 3 & calls

Hi I have an O2 XDA2i. while navigating with tomtom, if a call comes in and I answer it I cannot hear anyone, not sure if they can hear me either. I am using a Bluetooth GPS. Does anybody have a fix for this? or am I alone in this problem ? Also, even if I close tomtom down I cannot get hear anything while making a call...only option is to reset the phone.
...grrrrr.......
on a side note..... Does anyone have an XDA2i that has a blutooth car kit that works without echos?
Cheers,
Gary.
Installing the Tom Tom GPS 3.07 update reslved a lot of the problems I have using Tom Tom BT and a BT headset.
Install it after everything else and remove SD card before install.
still locks up every now and again but its about as good as I can get it to work.
Tom Tom don;t seem to give a damn about this problem.
There's nothing like a satisfied customer and I'm nothing like a satisfied customer
@princegary
please check this link:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/right...n/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1719
as tomtom declares:
...Therefore this update can also be used if you have:
an HP63xx Pocket PC (+ Bluetooth GPS)
MDA2/XDA2/QTEK2020
so it is not really for xda2i, but you'll see... (I don't see a reason for not working with it)

Click to collapse
I do not know, that you only mistyped or really used TomTom GPS 3.07 INSTEAD OF TomTom Navigator 3.07, but if so - give it another try...
Maybe it helps to be satisfied! 8)
I tried the full 3.07 update and same problem still existsed.
I've now installed the 5.0 upgrade and this does seem to have resolved the problem.
All is not perfect as Tom Tom has stopped running twice for no apparent reason but all I need do is restart the application. I think it might be more to do with it loosing the GPS BT signal rather than a problem with the software compatibility. Only two days in so I'll let you all know how I get on through the week.
the only problem I had with tt3.07 on my xdaII, that sometimes it loaded so slowly, I started it more than once - after a soft reset, the problem's gone
but never stopped during/because of a call (neither destinator 3.075 did so far)
so, maybe just your device...
I upgraded to wm2005g and tt5 and having no problem at all (so far  )
As I mentioned TTN5 seems much better, much more stable.
Would love to upgrade to WM2005 but as I understand it it doesn't work on the XDA2i only the XDA2 and the XDA2s.
HI there,
Does TOMTOM 5 work fine on XDA IIi? I have just read another forum here, that TOMTOM 5 is not compatible with the XDA IIi
I am about to upgrade and get the XDA IIi, i would appreciate if you could let me know.
thanks
nya
I upgraded across the weekend and so far Tom Tom Nav 5 has worked pretty well on the XDA2i.
As mentioned it has given up on me twice but I don't think this is due to incompatibility
thanks for the quick reply, just one more question please what GPS receiver are you using?
thanks in advance
Regards
nya
It's unbadged, bought it off of e-bay, please see link below
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5771460756&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
I installed TomTom 5 and the problem is solved! Call came in and I thought Damn... but I picked up the call and it was fine TomTom even resumed after the call which I was amazed at.
My only problem now is that I got a new 1gb card and tomtom hates it, or atleast my XDA2i does. Would it be better for me to just buy a 512mb for my sat nav apps? or is there a recommended brand of 1/2gb card that works happily on the XDA2i and TOMTOM 5?

Tomtom navigator 3 and wizard problem

As my old trusty XDA11 has packed up, I now have a new o2 XDA mini 's' (Wizard). Trouble is, Tomtom Navigator 3 (as worked ok on the XDA11), won't install. Tomtom tell me it's incompatible, but the guy in the o2 shop assured me that I would find a work-around on here. Well I've looked, and I can't find any.
Can anyone help please?
The Guys at the phone-shops are total n00bs... They even don't know what a PocketPC is. TomTom 3 isn't working on WM5. Even TomTom 5 need a installer modification to work.
Yeah I know, but this guy completely bullshitted me that he knew all about XDA's! Guess I'll have to fork out again for 5.21

Tomtom with O2 Exec or Tomtom one

Hi,
I know some of you would be annoyed with me posting a topic which has been discussed on this forum but after searching a lot on this forum i could not decide whether to buy a bluetooth GPS reciever or Tomtom one?
I have tomtom software 5.21 with the maps and dont mind struggling a bit initially ( for the 1st time i mean ) to get the bluetooth GPS running with Exec but just want to ask all of those who are using their Exec with tomtom few questions.
How easy is it to use Exec with tomtom in day to day life?
Has anybody used both and what do they prefer and why?
Which GPS is the best cos i have seen few with 32 channel etc etc?
Thanx in advance!!
Jatt
I've been using TomTom on my Exec since about November last year, and to be honest, I wouldn't even consider getting a full TomTom device.
I've got a BT-77 GPS (about £45 off eBay), wired permanently on in my car (I've also got a second if I need to use it elsewhere), and had NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER getting it to work - in fact, I'm bemused at why the whole Bluetooth/GPS issue is such a big one. I simply paired the two, and set up a port - no messing about unhiding the GPS applet etc. Easy.
I've got a Brodit mount in the car - very good. I've also got a Parrot hands-free, so the Exec does everything in the car - phone and sat nav (with Traffic).
Downsides? Well, sometimes the Exec can take an age to start TomTom, but other than that, I'm struggling to think of any.
Cheers,
Steve.
Same rig as above poster (SPV m5000,Tt 5.21 & BT77 GPS receiver) but did have a little trauma with the Tomtom port problem at first  found the solution here though and now it's all good! Tomtom does suck the life out of that minuscule battery though, so a powered mount or a decent car charger are a must. As for the amount of receiver channels - the more the better (for tracking ability - look for ones with the SIRF III chip-set) i believe. Hope this helps
Thanks Oink1 and StevePritchard
I have ordered HOLOX Bluetooth GPS Reciever 32 Channel 4 TomTom from Ebay and it has SIRF III chip-set aswell.
Will let you know how it is for me
Bye
I have been using my Exec with TTN 5.21 for approaching a year now and use it with a SysOn 20 Channel SiRF Star Bluetooth GPS, brilliant piece of kit.
I wouldn't worry about the high end of GPS channel tracking as 12 - 20 suffices. The only problem that I've experienced was keeping the pairing but otherwise it works exceptionally.
Hi all,
Which software version of tomtom supports full postal code directions?
Thanks for all ur input
Bye

to tom tom or not to tom tom?

hi, got an exec and been using it for a year now and still loving it as of october i am going to be driving a taxi so, wondered what peoples advice would be, is the exec reliable and usable enough to use as sat nav for my taxi? iv trawled through the forum and read lots about the tom tom issues and im wondering whether or not to just buy an independant tom tom device and keep my exec free as as phone? i will be using my o2 bluetooth headset whilst driving and will need to be able to take calls on it.
also if you think i should stay true to my exec and tomtom her up, any suggestions on where to buy from and best gps unit etc? seen THIS on ebay, was going to use a copy of my mates tom tom but, thinking maybe it would be more reliable to just buy a genuine copy????
many thanks in advance
Hi bobby,
To be honest Tomtom works perfectly on the XDA Exec. I have a MDA Pro(T-mobile version) and i have no problems. At first there were some problems with trying to setup the bluetooth gps recievers with tomtom but that was before version 5.21 was released.
Using the phone at the same time as running tomtom is easily done. the gps reciever does not interfere with a bluetooth headset whatsoever. I have a sony erricsson HBH-300 bluetooth headset with my MDA Pro and i always take calls while using tomtom.
As it goes with the retail version of tomtom the only difference you will get is that you will have the option to subscribe to live traffic updates.
The item you have seen in ebay looks quite good. i have the same gps reciever as that deal which i know is really good but as for the holder you may want to consider getting a holder specific for the Exec as you may want to put it in landscape mode when not using tomtom.
Here are a couple of options for you for the GPS holders and recievers:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XDA-Exec-Brod...ryZ56166QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Globalsat-BT3...oryZ4668QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Hope this helps you, if you would like a couple of pictures of my setup please let me know.
Been using TomTom on T-Mobile MDA Pro for 9 weeks...upgraded from HP iPAQ 6515 and loving it!!!!!
The screen quality is far superior and it works like a charm
I've been using both TomTom and iGo on my Qtek9000, they work very well. I think I prefer iGo, but it's just a matter of taste I guess.
Make sure to get version 5.21 of TomTom, otherwise a bluetooth GPS reciever won't work.
hi, I use my universal, mda pro, as a sat nav and it works perfectly no issues whatsoever. I'm running tt5.21 with map of uk plus v632 the gps reciever is holux gpslim 236 which is brilliant I highly recommand this one as to the mount I have pdahut holder which does its job but there is 2 probs with it..putting the device in and out of the mount involves two hands and the stability. plus the mount is passive one. all after all is a good combination I'm very happy with it. I cannot comment on using bt headset cos I m not using yet but I am experiencing huge lags answering the phone while navigating..I use wired headset that came with the universal.
cheers, cudo
muchos gracias senors 8) thought i was gonna have to go and fork out for a whole new unti for a moment
