As my old trusty XDA11 has packed up, I now have a new o2 XDA mini 's' (Wizard). Trouble is, Tomtom Navigator 3 (as worked ok on the XDA11), won't install. Tomtom tell me it's incompatible, but the guy in the o2 shop assured me that I would find a work-around on here. Well I've looked, and I can't find any.
Can anyone help please?
The Guys at the phone-shops are total n00bs... They even don't know what a PocketPC is. TomTom 3 isn't working on WM5. Even TomTom 5 need a installer modification to work.
Yeah I know, but this guy completely bullshitted me that he knew all about XDA's! Guess I'll have to fork out again for 5.21

Hi I have an O2 XDA2i. while navigating with tomtom, if a call comes in and I answer it I cannot hear anyone, not sure if they can hear me either. I am using a Bluetooth GPS. Does anybody have a fix for this? or am I alone in this problem ? Also, even if I close tomtom down I cannot get hear anything while making a call...only option is to reset the phone.
...grrrrr.......
on a side note..... Does anyone have an XDA2i that has a blutooth car kit that works without echos?
Cheers,
Gary.
Installing the Tom Tom GPS 3.07 update reslved a lot of the problems I have using Tom Tom BT and a BT headset.
Install it after everything else and remove SD card before install.
still locks up every now and again but its about as good as I can get it to work.
Tom Tom don;t seem to give a damn about this problem.
There's nothing like a satisfied customer and I'm nothing like a satisfied customer
@princegary
please check this link:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/right...n/uk.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1719
as tomtom declares:
...Therefore this update can also be used if you have:
an HP63xx Pocket PC (+ Bluetooth GPS)
MDA2/XDA2/QTEK2020
so it is not really for xda2i, but you'll see... (I don't see a reason for not working with it)

I do not know, that you only mistyped or really used TomTom GPS 3.07 INSTEAD OF TomTom Navigator 3.07, but if so - give it another try...
Maybe it helps to be satisfied! 8)
I tried the full 3.07 update and same problem still existsed.
I've now installed the 5.0 upgrade and this does seem to have resolved the problem.
All is not perfect as Tom Tom has stopped running twice for no apparent reason but all I need do is restart the application. I think it might be more to do with it loosing the GPS BT signal rather than a problem with the software compatibility. Only two days in so I'll let you all know how I get on through the week.
the only problem I had with tt3.07 on my xdaII, that sometimes it loaded so slowly, I started it more than once - after a soft reset, the problem's gone
but never stopped during/because of a call (neither destinator 3.075 did so far)
so, maybe just your device...
I upgraded to wm2005g and tt5 and having no problem at all (so far  )
As I mentioned TTN5 seems much better, much more stable.
Would love to upgrade to WM2005 but as I understand it it doesn't work on the XDA2i only the XDA2 and the XDA2s.
HI there,
Does TOMTOM 5 work fine on XDA IIi? I have just read another forum here, that TOMTOM 5 is not compatible with the XDA IIi
I am about to upgrade and get the XDA IIi, i would appreciate if you could let me know.
thanks
nya
I upgraded across the weekend and so far Tom Tom Nav 5 has worked pretty well on the XDA2i.
As mentioned it has given up on me twice but I don't think this is due to incompatibility
thanks for the quick reply, just one more question please what GPS receiver are you using?
thanks in advance
Regards
nya
It's unbadged, bought it off of e-bay, please see link below

I installed TomTom 5 and the problem is solved! Call came in and I thought Damn... but I picked up the call and it was fine TomTom even resumed after the call which I was amazed at.
My only problem now is that I got a new 1gb card and tomtom hates it, or atleast my XDA2i does. Would it be better for me to just buy a 512mb for my sat nav apps? or is there a recommended brand of 1/2gb card that works happily on the XDA2i and TOMTOM 5?
Hello all
I am new to this forum. So to start hello everyone. Nice to type ya.
Right can anyone help, i have got TOMTOM mobile 5 working with my XDA Exec. no problems (linked to a sirf3 tomtom bluetooth GPS )
but the only way i can navigate is using the qwerty keyboard and arrows.
I am unable to use the touch screen functions or the 4 way PDA
movement buttons thingymajig.
Any clever doods, lasses with any similar experiences.
p.s. The gps side works really well.
Just a point but Tomtom mobile is for smartphones and Tomtom Navigator is for XDA's.
Correct me if i'm wrong but that was my understanding.

Yep your right, and seen as no smartphones have touch screens, its no supprise the thing don't respond to screen presses!
you know what is weird, if you goto the tomtom webpage, they have an update for tomtom mobile so that it supports wm2005 meaning the i-mate jasjar... see it it is there. Should I use tomtom mobile instead now????
Don't think so for the reasons as stated above.
Right that explains alot
I will need Navigator and not Mobile.
time to get wallet out again.
Cheers

I'm running version 5.21 (5430) for PocketPC with GPS driver v1.20 on an XDAIIi.
I loaded tt5.21 on my fathers exec last night, I am assumiing you are using a BT gps receiver? If so then make sure you pair the gps BEFORE loading on tt5.21, then go to comms manager and select gps device in bt settings, then set it to outgoing and assign com 0 to it. then start up tt5.21 and select other bt gps, then select com 0. that is how I got it to work. Under ver 5 it wold not do anything at all, even though either version works fine on my 2i !!!! But 5.21 works just fine on the exec.
Tomtom Now Working
Thanks guys for your contributions. I now have Tomtom Version 5.21 on my XDA Exec.
This has been after so many hours of frustration and browsing the web to find the solution after I got the phone.
I have installed a cracked version which worked after trying so many cracked version which I had found on the net.
I now believe that some of the cracked ones have got some files corrupt or misssing because I dont see why they were not working.
Now I love my phone.
My qustion is with this cracked version WOULD I be able to access TomTom WHETHER AND TRAFFIC ? OR THIS IS A NO GO AREA?
Would the TomTom website know that mine is not a legit copy?
@ two4one
The cracked versions are recognised as being cracked and don't work with updates etc....
To avoid hastles with this site lets not mention warez, I'm not squeaky clean myself, but it can cause problems for the site developers and so on.
Glad you're happy with it though.
TomTom Navigator V5.210
I Too am running TTN Version 5.210 on an XDA IIi

Does it work fine with a 200 Mhz proccesor off the MSA Vario??
Isn't Slow?
You need to forget all about the 200mhz thing, it's a texas instruments CPU not Intel so isn't relevant. It's a dual core CPU as well don't forget.
In my experience TomTom5 seems slightly slower starting up initially maybe 1-2 minutes but after it has started i personally think it out performs my old Blue Angel. route planning is pretty quick and re-planning if you make a mistake seems to happen in a split second.

HELPPPPPPPP
I had the same problem, then I found somewhere on the TomTom website that the MDA Vario (K-Jam) needs the 5.21 upgrade to work. This worked like a charm. I presume this is now the version they ship as TomTom 5 as the compatibility list now includes the K-Jam: http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=109&Language=1

Hallo, did you install the "old" version 5.0 software first and than upgrade5.21 over ? Or can I use the file "Upgrade 5.21" as a pure initeal installation of TomTom ?
I did the original install like you where nothing seems to happen after the install, then ran the 5.21 update and everything works.
tomtom on MDA vario
Hi, I have downloaded a lot of cracks for tomtom 5.21 and replaced the .exe file on the MDA Vario but tomtom does not start. It just hangs??? I tries with an other MDA Vario and I had the same problem. I can not be the only one with this problem I hope you can help me.
Get a proper patch frot tomtom 5.21 not duff ones that make the system hang and do pretty much squat all.
I have the same question I use the cracked file to replace the original one, then I start tomtom5 it hang up at first when there appear the import notice. by the way, I install 5.21,anyone can help me. many thanks.
Had the same problem sounds like you are mssng the Currentmap.dat file missng
Make a folder in My Documents called TomTom and place the CurrentMap.dat file in it
You can find the file here.
