Tytyn/8525 Volume keys?

What happened to dedicated volume keys like on the 8125?
How am I supposed to adjust the volume quickly? the scroll wheel?
Try tapping on the sound icon at the top of the screen. That should bring up a pop-up that has volume sliders in it.

Yup, but I wanted some real keys to press like there should be on every phone.
i too am looking for a way to do this as well...
The scroll wheel will adjust the volume while on a call. When not on a call, it will just scroll through whichever app you're using at that moment.
Edit: If you get those tones when using it, like us TyTN users did, there is a registry edit to eliminate that. Follow this link, about 2/3 down the page.

You can try a 3rd-party app like Pocket Plus for a soft solution...
You could downgrade to a Wizard/8125/etc. but that would suck.

Volume Control using Scroll wheel?

Hi,
I used to have a T-mobile MDA for 2+ years and I'm very acustomed to simply sliding a button up/down in order to increase/decrease ringer volume ( I simply hold it down for a few secs and it goes to slient).
I just got my HTC and find that the scroll wheel wants to scroll items on my "today" screen...instead of controlling the volume!!
Is this standard or is there a way I can have the scroll wheel control the Ringer?
i too want to know how to do this!
Anyone have any ideas on this? It's my only gripe left on the XV6800 and I've searched for quite a while trying to find any resolution.
If you open up the speaker icon, you can then use the scroll wheel to adjust the volume settings. Believe you can aslo adjust the volume with the scroll wheel when the phone is ringing.
Any better solutions than this?!
I'm not sure about it. One day out of nowhere my Mogul started using the scroll wheel as the volume control, even when I had programs opened (contacts, PIE, etc..) that I would use the scroll wheel with, it controlled the volume. It opened up the menu and would raise/lower, put into vibrate/silent. I don't remember installing any applications or anything, but I lost functionality of it as a volume control after just a soft-reset. I personally thought it was annoying trying to scroll through 175+ contacts and having the volume slider pop up instead.
I would assume there's some sort of background application you can acquire that allows this, but I haven't found one yet.
I was annoyed that the wheel doesn't control volume at will so I downloaded S2U2 (slide to unlock) and that program comes with a master volume control for the phone volume and in-call volume. I set it to one of my buttons on the left, its awesome.

Using the Touchpad to Zoom

I just ordered an X1a, but what I would really love to see is the option to use the TouchPad to zoom. On my HTC Touch Cruise, I have a jog dial that works to zoom when I am in Opera, HTC Picture Viewer, and RSS. Yes, there are other ways to zoom, but they aren't as fast, slick, or precise as would be a flick on the touch pad. Also, I love being able to zoom in on mobile webpages, where Opera doesn't display the on screen zoom button.
The Touch Pro and Diamond, also have this functionality, furthermore, the new TP2 and D2 have the zoom bar. Since these devices have such small screens, having an easy way to zoom is crucial imo.
Has anyone tinkered with this idea? Or would anyone know where to start to get this working?
Volume buttons working as zoom in and out in Opera Browser
Thanks for the reply! That actually does help. But it would still be sooo much nicer to have a zoom control that provides a smooth gradient, as opposed to a strict increments that pushing the volume button would give.

Thanks i didnt know this.
u can also double tap the d-pad sensor area
yes it would be a nice feature if there was an option to do so with the touchpad. i dont like the big incremental steps when zooming by double tapping the screen. the volume button is ok but i believe it only works in opera.

Scrolling .... Searched a lot

Hi,
I need some help with this, its kind of the other way around of what people usually like, I liked the scrolling with the volume buttons on the left side of the phone, I am running Energy Feb 4th version 21xxxx. Now the volume buttons do what they are meant to do but I wonder if there is a way to disable that volume function and send it back to scrolling so I can scroll up and down my emails and stuff.
Thanks!!!!
You tried to map the keys using AEBPlus?

on-screen volume slider/adjuster

there's something about the physical volume rocker on the a500 that makes me dislike using it and it being on the top I have to take my lazy finger and travel alll the way to the top(always in landscape) to adjust volume.
I know there are a couple or more of these types of apps in the market but thought id share this one I just found. it lets you put a volume rocker/slider anywhere on your screen edge. you can customize it... color, size, what volume its controlling etc...
I set it to the lower right so I can easily change volume on the fly with my pink thumb.

*edit* if any of you know a similar app that can adjust brightness let me know...thanks
