Order for sim unlock & flashing rom - Wing, P4350 General

It's my first post here. Done a lot of reading but still couldn't find the answer to this.
I got a sim locked T-Mobile Wing from T-Mobile. Still waiting for the unlock code. This could take a long time for my case. Should I wait until I get the code and unlock the Wing before flashing ROM??? I am very eager to play with the custom ROM's a lot of people are using.... If I do it now, will it cause problem later when I try to sim unlock???

What problem did you have? I thought if you do Sim Unlock first, there shoudn't be any problem. I am just worried about if I flash the phone first, the unlock code I will get from T-Mobile later might not work. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks.

i sim unlocked then flashed
the unlock code is stored in the phone operating system not on the sim card
but dont worry the phone will always recogize the unlock code every time u flash it. it never changes unless you hack your imei

So I don't have to unlock now and can go ahead to upgrade ROM and then unlock later with the new ROM? Just want to confirm. Thanks.

yes you can flash before sim unlock. I have a wing and its not sim unlocked and I can flash and go back to stock with no problems.

that doesn't make sense.. everytime you flash your flashing a new operating system. theres no way the sim unlock code is part of the operating system.

It Probably Makes More Sense To Me
Basically With The Unlock Code Your Unlocking The Phone Not The Sim Card So It Is Saved To The Phone When You Flash The Phone You Erase Everything On The Phone

This is exactly why I am reluctant to flash it now since I have not unlocked the phone yet.
I know that, with some other phones like motorola, even if you have unlocked the phone, but if you flash with a wrong stock, you can lock it again and it is very difficult to unlock later...
Can anybody else share their experiences about the Wing?

If you follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225 you can unlock your phone without worrying about the code from T-mo. You will be able to flash any ROM you choose. Just follow it to the letter. Worked great for me.
My main reason to flash was because of all the memory the stock ROM sucked. You'll be amazed by the chefs in the forum.

The unlock is not in the phone's operating system... its in the phone hardware. I think many will get confused if you are telling them its in the OS since you flash the OS when you flash the ROM.
Everyone should know that the IMEI is hardware based like the MAC address of the phone. To change the IMEI would not only break US law's but would void you from unlocking it from a service provider. Flashing a ROM will not change the IMEI.

First off, state your problem, second off ALL CAPS IS TOTALLY ANYOING.
To check if your Device is locked, pit in a different simcard (so not a simcard from the same provider but a DIFFERENT one). If it asks a unlock code it's locked.
Second, installing WM6 (probably) requires your device to be CID unlocked.
(here comes the irony) Look up a topic, or use to search function on CID and you'll find allot of ways/solution to un cidlock your device and be able to flash it with whatever rom you want.
If you want to find out if your phone is CID unlocked, download Wizard Service Tools, install it on your computer and then click the CID actions button and it will tell you if you're CID unlocked or not.

Can I Unlock My Android-Installed HD2?

hi, guys. i installed android Desire on my hd2. and i got a tmobile unlock code. i plan to sell it overseas. can it still be unlocked?
here the link to the android that i installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915159
Yes you should be able to. Just put a sim card from a carrier other than the one the phone is currently registered to, and you should be prompted for the code. If for some reason you can't unlock it in Android, which I doubt, just do a nandroid backup in CWM, flash any stock WM ROM, put in the new sim card, enter the unlock code, the re-flash MAGLDR and CWM, then restore your backup, and you're unlocked and back to your Android ROM.

hey thanks man. i plan on selling it overseas. so, taking the risk that it might work isnt good enough. i think its best that i sell it dmomestically without the hassle of going through all those steps to get this unlocked overseas. i dont want any problems. but thanks.
Just borrow a friends sim who's on a different network, it will unlock to all networks when you do it, the sim you use doesn't have to be the network it will be used on, just not t mo.

[Q] SIM card after S-OFF

Hey guys,
I was just wondering. When this AlphaRev thing is released, and I set my Wildfire S-OFF, will I be able to use SIM card from any carrier? Right now I'm able to use SIM card from only one carrier.
Thanks.

Nope.
+tenchars, etc...
im not 100% sure but i can use any sim card after getting s-off from xtc clip so it should happen
The xtc clip produces a Gold card that unlocks the carrier-locked phone, the alpharevx produces only an s-off, meaning that you can install custom roms, recovery, permanent root etc.
XTC Clip does both S-OFF and SIM unlock while AlphaRev does ONLY S-OFF.
Is there a difference between sim unlock and carrier unlock.
Of course i don't need it, but just asking to know....
AFAIK, There's no difference between carrier unlock and sim unlock..
One more thing i think u can unlock carrier using debranding method given in this forum. That means downgrading/changing region of current ROM. Its not that much difficult. It requires gold card i think. There's one easy method let me try to explain it.
1. Follow all steps in changing ROM region/debranding/downgrading.
Eg- If u've France or India or any regional ROM downgrading it to WWE Rom.
2.IMP- Here's the trick to unlock the carrier:
Follow steps on downgrading till editing the mtd0 with HxD or Hex editor.
In that u may find something like HT_031 or something it depends on region, change that to 000000 that called super cid.
After changing changes to mtd from above and the downgrading guide follow the guide as usual.
I hope this may help you to unlock carrier. I dont know but u may try it.
No. Debranding and SIM unlock are NOT the same thing.
Debranding (for example, by goldcard) removes network operator customisations by installing generic software, but you still cannot use a SIM card from another network.
SIM unlock can be only done using special methods as of now (XTC Clip, any third party mobile phone shop) and it enables you to use whichever SIM card you want, but you can keep your branding if you like (ROM doesn't have to match the operator, AFAIK)
When you are in hboot, you can see the option "sim lock". Is it trough that your phone becomes sim locked (and unlocked)? And if yes, is it something we can manage ourselfs? It would be a great security for the phone against thieves
Thank you in advance!
Erwin
According to jkoljo in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014046
It does not do anything unless you have just the correct files in your SD card that define the network and so on. Only service centers and network providers have such files. So you are fine, nothing bad happened.

Which means the option does nothing unless you have carrier-specific files on your SD card. Files which carriers use to sim-lock the device I presume.

SIM network unlock PIN for htc hd2 with android 2.3.4 T-Mobile

hello. I bought unlocked HTC HD2 T-mobile.
But I put android 2.3.4 typhoon_cm7_v3.4.0-MAGLDR.zip and now when i put my non t-mobile sim card it asks me for SIM network unlock PIN, can you help me
you need to flash back to winmo in order to enter the sim unlock code. You CAN enter it into android, but it wont work, only winmo has the ability to write the required data to sim unlock it.
can I flash it back to winmo, and save my current android? and how do o find the code?
thanks for the help so far
you need to buy a code, or get one from a current t mobile customer. If it was sold unlocked, and now asks for a code, you were miss-sold it, because once its unlocked its always unlocked, , it can never get relocked.
yes you can backup your android rom thru CWM, then flash winmo, insert teh code, reflash magldr, cwm and restore your backup.
I have nand android, can I boot the winmo, or when I put the android it deleted the winmo?
hmmm
i didnt know all this could we put a moded version of min mo 6.5 and do a 1 timeboot for unlocking of an sd card?

This sounds like a really complicated thing to do..
Can I just put winmo ot my sdcard and run it?
I read that you can use winmo and android the same time if you have nand winmo and android on sd, but can this be done the other way arround?
Right now I am reading throughout the forum to see if this can be done and how, but if anyone knows the answer I will be very happy if you tell me.
Thanks for the help
No, winmo on nand only. Yes you deleted winmo when you flashed nand android. You will need to flash winmo from scratch.
@jackrabbit,, unlock SD card? We're talking about sim card unlock.
(Wait, did you mean "for unlocking OFF and SD card"? In which case i doubt it, winmo will only work from nand. Not SD.
The whole process should only take 25 minutes..
Magldr - cwm - backup and restore - backup - reboot to bootloader - flash a winmo rom - unlock sim card - enter bootloader - re apply 2.08.hspl android compatible radio, magldr and cwm - magldr - cwm - backup restore - full restore.
Ok, thank you.
For now I contacted with my seller that the phone isn`t unlocked and requested an unlock code. By the time he answers me and gives me the code I`ll stay with android, just because I still have some hope that the code will work on android.
If not, I`ll put the winmo and then android.
Do you know the easiest way to put winmo? I`ll need it only to put the code and then flash to android?
Thank you much for the help.

Well, it would take 25 mins to you.
I`m reading like for half an hour just to find out how to put winmo
And didn`t find anything
like for example I don`t know what Magldr and cwm
Oh, well.. there will be lots of reading
EDIT:
Okay... I couldn`t wait and flashed to winmo 7 - using this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nac3Fnf-lY4
and using radio Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**:
i`m still waiting for my seller to respond
well, my seller gave me a code.. and when I enter it it says that it is accepted, but still when I try to make a call it asks me for the code and doesn`t give me to call.
Do you think that this has anything to do with the fact that the phone is using winmo 7, insted of the 6.5 version?
Exactly. Only winmo 6.5 has the ability to correctly accept that code.
Wont work in wp7 or android, because (drumroll....) its not an android or wp7 phone!
EDIT - oh its you that just bricked a tmous, guess you can stop worrying about how to unlock it. Sorry for your loss.
I did once input unlock code on android... It didn't work at start (phone couldn't get signal) but after I reflashed it with WinMo and reflashed radio it worked again... Before reflashing try manualy to select network, I think that after that it worked...
network unlock
buying a code is the only wait to unlock HD2 i don't have unlock box either.
I have problem, i have display with Ouy have tried 5 times, please wait until timeout -Sim Lock and how long i must stay or how bypass this
Is the unlock code the same for every hd2 or is it individual to the phone?
If it is generic, please could someone PM me the code.
Would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Timeout is not too long just put it to one side & review every 20 minutes until option is available
Codes are not generic so you will need get one for your device via its IMEI number
You can find codes via eBay at some success, I use http://www.pdamagician.com/unlocking.html with success & fast service on HTC & Samsung ...
You may also have a local shop that can do it via software & cable at sensible cost but take care as with everything buying cheap can lead to bad experience ...

not 100% sure its as simple as that. There's a lot of sites suggesting that after 5 incorrect attempts it needs to be unlocked using a cable rather than the code, (some places suggest it becomes permanently hard locked after 5 attempts, but maybe that's older information, id be more incliuned to believe the 'requires a cable')
Ive also seen some sites that suggest that after 5 attempts there is a much longer timeout, in the hours rather than minutes, and after THAT continuing to enter it incorrectly leads to a hard lock.

Never gone as far as 5 wrong codes but did read & post in a thread on xda with a guy on 5th attempt & waiting for time out, he did succeed but was a few hours before code would accept, will try & find thread later & link to it.
Personally if I have trouble after 3 attempts I get it done via cable as almost as cheap as codes here.
Thanks guys.
Reflashed stock rom because only windows mobile 6.5 can unlock the hd2, bought an unlock code from ebay for £1.11, entered it into winmo and have now reinstalled my android nand rom. works perfect
