Niki or Elf ? - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

I just want to know which is better Nikki or Elf ?

Well the Nike has 3G with no Wifi (atm guys are working on it so hopefully should be working soon) and the Elf has no 3G but has Wifi. So it depends what you want either 3G or Wifi. the Nike is a very good phone though. The Nike has a faster processor aswell.

dual is a lot better.
when the guys get wifi working, the touch has nothing on the dual. even without wifi, i'd prefer the dual, its slimmer, faster, more like a phone, touch is great but nothing beats a keypad. external sdslot.
i'd pick the dual over every htc device out at the moment.

came from trinity to nike and must say - although gps and wifi is not working for the moment, i would again buy a nike.
pros: slider with normal keypad, feels more like a phone, quality of speaker appears to be better than previous htc.
cons: hopefully will be sorted out soon ( wifi and probably gps - maybe there will be a upgrade kit with the missing chip and antenna for gps *ggg* keep my fingers crossed - otherwise use bt gps ) but i guess elf has no gps either ...
give it a go for nike ;-)

Thanx for info . Is xda star a NIKE phone .

Got mine :-)

I've got the TyTN and the P4350 now; I'll do some comparison and report back here.
Martin
Can you test the wi-fi reception of this device and compare it with Tytn's range(weak)? Thank you.
Very short : (longer review to come)
Although the P4350 has got a slower CPU (200 Mhz - 400 Mhz on the TyTN), it's working much smoother/faster than the TyTN. The rather annoying delay (although minor) on the TyTN when using the numpad in the phone is almost not detectable on the P4350.
Seems much faster graphics.
The Autoslide keyboard is wonderful! VERY VERY nice. The keyboard simply jumps open.
More to come; when I have the time I'm going to go more in depth with my testing, trying to stress the machine a bit.
So far I'm VERY satisfied! In my eyes it's a better device than the TyTN; it now fits nicely in my pockets (17 mm thick (TyTN 22 mm)). I ended up disabling 3G on my TyTN anyway due to the battery draining - so that the P4350 doesn't have 3G possibilities fits me just fine.
I'll be back ;-)

Hi all,
Had anyone tried skype on the Herald ?
How is it as compared to Hermes ?
Thanks
Have you tested divx with TCPMP?
btw skype is about to release version which run on 200mhz
Hi Pakiyabhai,
That is good news, have you got more details on the new skype -- such as the time frame ?
The new Skype 2.2 beta is the version you're looking for. According to their FAQ it supports the 195MHz OMAP:
http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=982
v2.2 BETA download
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/mobile/downloading_low_beta.html
I've been using it with my P4350 and it works great without overclocking. Just use the headset and close other programs before starting. [hint: HTC includes the Task Manager utility in the P4350 that closes apps properly when exiting; it's disabled by default]
Ok its exactly like my beloved old jam. only with a keyboard. the speed is the same, almost better than my tytn and treo 750v. the keyboard is loose compared to my tytn , kjam, and ppc 6700. the internet loads almost as fast as my tytn, i dont have 3g in my area yet. the screen is the best i have had yet except for my old universal (to big) i cant wait for the omni... there are not enough buttons even with ae button plus imnot quite satisfied. the keyboard is the best yet. and the wow factor is the best yet. ill talk more later

Hi Daguru,
Thanks for your reply & info.
How about the Wifi reception as compared to HTC Hermis ?
I was wondering if skype 2.2 requirement of 195MHz is the MIN
operation requirement will not be ideal in practical environment ?
Also I require more feedback on the new skype 2.2 beta with
HTC Herald on the voice quality, connection quality.
As this is very important consideration for me getting this
wonderful device and not HTC Hermes.
The general comment so far is that the Herald is as fast if not faster
than the Hermes even though the CPU Hz speed for Herald is half.
I wonder why ?
I had this impression that, some of the older approx 200MHz PDA phone
devices review have mentioned that during basic operation
e.g. sms, making call etc is too slow. Does Herald have such problem
i.e. keypress respond is too slow ?
Thanks for reading
Well I have had my herald for a few weeks now. It was going to be my primary device. but also two weeks ago i got hsdpa in my area. so I was playing with my three hsdpa enabled pda phones. but here I am a week or two later back using the herald again. I have the cpu set to 252 with omapclockplus . It is just so small and cool. It is slower than my tytn when going through the menu's. But it turns on quicker, answers the phone quicker. has better sound quality ( the phone) Voice command 1.6 works flawlesly over the headset with no tweaks right out of the box. it tells you who is calling through the blootooth headset. and is much more responsive..
that said the ram leaves much to be desired. I admit I have a tun of programs that i consider must haves. But on a fresh soft boot I have 19 mb free. about two mins later its at 15 and it seems to be hovering around 12 or 13. Ok so i have never had a low mem problem, but I like to have it there.
Hello,
I finnaly got mine too ;-) It's working fine with Orange FR, just need to find some GPRS parameters.
Also I just found this news:
http://www.vodafoneshop.de/shop/det...66&artikel_daten_id=3555&B_ID=243&I_ID=0&TD=1
Vodaphone released the Herald/P4350 as VPA Compact IV (with MS Direct Push & Blackberry support).

Tomorrow I'll get mine

Herald or Hermes ?

Hi all,
For those who have the experiences/luxury to tried on
both Herald and Hermes, can you pls share your experience
between the two ?
I am had a hard time deciding which to get.
Hermes is selling at much lower price than Herald over here.
Herald does not seem to be picking up here.
Also O2 Zinc in also about to be avaliable in matters of weeks.
I get the general feedback that Herald is much more
responsive than Hermes despite slower speed processors -
a big factor of consideration for me.
Specifications for both devices is OK for my usage/applications.
What I need is actual user feedback in comparision of the
2 devices such as
- actual battery life performance?
- skype performance?
- device stability ... etc ?
- third party devices accessories - e.g. dual sim card add on....etc ?
Thanks in advance.
I was in the same predicament, it came down to the fact that because i have a crappy data plan i would have no use for 3G, so I went for the much smaller and better looking (IMHO) herald. Very happy with it.
does the Herad has the same freeze issues ?
This would be really important for me since 2 resets a day with my TyTN/Hermes is just too much...
I have to restart it once every 3 days or so, using the Herald very very often !
But this always depends a lot on which Software you have currently installed on your device !
I would assume this would change with XV6800(verzion version of the Herald with rev a 3G) since it has 256 of memory and aku 3.5?
Get my Herald today
Hey,
I get my Herald today. Since today I used an TYTN.
First: Herald impressed me with they good performance and better looking.
Tomorrow I start to test it with all my programm from TYTN.
The TYTN has at the end problems with freezing.
I give you update
Oliver
what is the update?
Top Herald
Hello,
after 6 days using the Herald and play a lot of programmes on my Herald i can, say: Herald ist top, no freezing, good performance and it feels good.
I use it with an alucase and this ist the very much better with the TYTN. No problems to switch on camera, Com Manager....... The buttons on Herald are well placed (better than the TYTN). The Keyboard is better than the TYTN (no uncontrolled outcoming).
+ Better Keyboard
+ No freezes
+ Good inital Quality
- Performance a little bit slower than TYTN (but its OK)
If need to buy an HTC, at the moment I would buy an Herald (But I think after Herald generation there will come an Herald with 3G and a better CPU like the Samsung with AKU 3.X, thats my next HTC "Herald")
Oliver
Thx
Thanks for the update. Funny enough I mananged to get my Hermes running without any freezes: I am quite sure it is the SD card reading that can cause some lock-ups. So I maanged to get just every frequently used app on my internal memory. And the eMails & attachements as weel. I managed to use my hermes since 96 hours without freeze now.
Well, the Heradl seems quite nice - I will probalby get it as a second device and test it thoroughly.
Regards,
Apple*

Hermes or Nokia N95

I'm currently using a T-Mobile MDA Vario (HTC Wizard), and as my contract is up for renewal soon, I am wondering what phone to get next.
Originally I had my mind set on the Vario 2 (Hermes), but I'm getting second thoughts since I read about the new Nokia N95. It seems to pack a lot of features, most impressively integrated gps and a lot of maps. First impressions seem to indicate that it runs very smoothly (not always the case with windows mobile) and gps works well. It's also got wifi and fast internet browsing. On the other hand, not sure if symbian is any good (to sync with pc etc), and if I'll be able to install applications on it like a pocket pc (although I don't install much). More importantly, I'd have to live without a full keyboard and touch screen (but the device is therefore thinner).
Can anyone give me some advice on how good/bad your experience with the Hermes has been (or even with the N95 if you've used it or heard anything about it).
Thanks.

It all comes down to the touchscreen... if you can live without it then go for the N95, if not then the Hermes is the way to go... but you must also know that the N95 isnt Tri-band UMTS, so if you were to goto another country with uses a different band for UMTS then you wont have access for it... Where as the Hermes supports 850, 1900 & 2100mhz WCDMA Bands
Thanks. I also read that the N95's build quality isn't so great, and that talk time is only a little over 2 hours (vs. a little over 4 for the hermes)!

well there you go... you just answered your own question... mind you the build quality on the hermes isnt that much better.... they are all plastic...
Build quality is not related to just the materials of the housing but also how well everything fits together. Look at the SE P990i: very nice looking phone but squeaks and cracks when you're holding it.
Dunno about the N95, but my previous phone was a Nokia 6260 (S60 2.x).
I personally found the Symbian system more stable and more feature-advanced than the Windows Mobile OS. Some examples: choosing the account via which emails are sent is not possible in Outlook Mobile, synchronizing with Nokia PC Suite is robuster (and supports for instance SMS typing on PC), native support for Java midlets (Opera Mini!), ...
I personally went for the Hermes because of the keyboard: a GPS is easily added with bluetooth, but a keyboard that works handheld is not easily added; and also because I needed Windows Mobile for one application I wanted (PocketFMS).
But it is difficult finding a balance between what you need, want and like.
Jörg
Well I think my mind's made up, can't go back to a tiny keypad after having used a full keyboard for so long, so I guess it's the hermes after all. Also the battery life is a big issue for me, I thought the hermes wasn't great, but the Nokia is awful...
As far as the battery is concerned: I manage to have the Hermes running for about 4-5 days (not frequently making calls, but frequently connecting via gprs/umts) or 2-3 days (when playing back .wma through BT headset).

How often does one go to other country and really use a different UMTS band or UMTS at all?
And what goes for the build quality, I can honestly say that N95 is better after owning a hermes for about 6 months now.
But the hermes beats it with the touch screen and keyboard, and has better software support in its own special way, N95 has better phoning software because the main idea is to use it as a phone and the OS is tailored that way. Hermes in other hand is a phone pda hybrid.
And personally as a software developer i can honestly say that symbian os is more crap that you guys could imagine ;D
And embedded linux seems to keep pushing it's way quite hard. Many companies I know, started to look into that matter.. (won't list any names here).
[EDIT]
The battery seems to be quite good for Hermes considering the fact that it's a PDA like phone at has alot of features.
And the more I use Hermes, the more conviced I get with it, it just is a damn good device
And you guys should try Route66 Navigate 7 for Pocket PC. It's the damn best GPS software I ever used
Doesn't lag at all (this is what really impressed me), is VERY accurate even in this little town I live in, very good POI information (TMC to) etc.
I tested alot of GPS software and this is just the best atm.
I have a bluetooth GPS, it's very small and has a neck collar
[/EDIT]
My Jasjam with Direct Push on all day (50 e-mails sent and received) and checking the news for 20 minutes, a game of chess for 15 minutes, using it as a sat nav for 30 minutes and 1 hour on the phone it still has 60% battery left at the end of the day. I would recommend the Hermes over the N95 any day.
What about the simple fact that one has a keyboard and the other one does not? Are you expecting to do any typing?

its not that simple... look at the 3G bands for example... for me anyway im in australia where there is 850Mhz and 2100Mhz 3G Bands... where the N95 only supports 2100Mhz....
N95 for sure. The touch-screen of the hermes sucks anyways, and yes, this is coming for a Hermes owner.

I'd rather have a sucky touchscreen than no touchscreen. FWIW, I think the screen on the Hermes is just fine.
Having to enter all my emails with the dpad or number pad is just nothing something I'd ever consider anno 2007.
I was a previous Nokia man through and through until the N80. The battery life and bugs made it unusuable, so I sold it and bought a Hermes. I've never looked back!
With the improved Radio 1.40 I now get around 3-4 days standby. You'll be lucky to get 3-4 HOURS from an N80 or N95 (reviews seem to suggest they still haven't learnt their lesson from poor battery life with the N95 either)
I won't touch Nokia again until they sort out the appalling battery life of their new phones. What's the point of putting all these neat features in a phone if you have to leave it almost permanently plugged into the mains?
N95 vs Hermes
Well, I've got both the Hermes and the N95... I'm probably going to end up selling one or the other... but I have the same choice to make - which one to keep, and I have to say, it's a hard choice.
The main factors for me are:
Battery life - everyone is talking about this, but the Nokia N95 battery life is abysmal. You really need to take your charger with you anywhere you go with it. Hermes battery life is not great, but at least you can use it for half to one day without it running out of battery! Also, the Hermes charges off USB, so when you use it as a computer modem, it charges at the same time!
Software & touchscreen - undoubtedly way better on the Hermes - push email, messenger, internet explorer, Cleartype, it all just works - N95 is flaky in places and the interface / software is just not up to the hardware. You have to pay extra for word, excel, push email, messenger, etc (well if you want any half-reasonable solution) and they don't work as well as WM5/6 even when you do pay! Also, the community support and the **ahem** hacked software is WAY WAY better for Windows Mobile.
Hardware - Nokia is way better for this - N95 has a beautiful camera, built in GPS, is smaller, lighter and prettier than the Hermes and has a 3.5mm jack socket built in (no adapter). But - no keyboard, no touchscreen and NO ROLL-WHEEL! This gets really annoying on the N95 for reading/replying to emails when you've used the Hermes.
So: The question really is - what will you use the device for? Phone? N95. Emails? Then definitely Hermes. Camera? N95. MSN Messenger? Hermes. Portable GPS? N95 (Hermes is better for car GPS when paired with a decent SiRF Star III GPS unit.) All of the above? AARRGH! Too difficult to decide. Neither is perfect - A smaller, thinner Hermes, with a 5MP camera, built in GPS, 640x480 resolution, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a nice-looking flat touchscreen that is flush with the casing WOULD be perfect... but we're going to have to wait for a while before that happens...

rSAP connectivity

Sadly enough I have noticed that the xperia X1 does not like my premium volkswagen carkit. As used in passat or audi or skoda superb, bmw, Mercedes, etc.
I have an RNS-510, but have also tried it with a RNS-310. Both having the premium carkit in it. Also called carkit III.
It uses rSAP to enable transfer of contacts and phone settings control.
I have tested with a nokia N95 and it works perfectly fine with that after you enable the remote sim access profile. Also known as SAP.
Sadly enough, the X1 refuses to connect. The carkit just says the phone is not compatible.
Anybody have any clue what to do?
Maybe a custom ROM which does have this functionality? Or a tool that can be added?
u r talking about remote sim access right?
my rom (cmex absolute touch) got an option to enable it under bluetooth setting (connections)
Yes or You use this little cab! Works perfectly with VW Golf VI PRemium Handsfreekit. I used the smaller file, but if it dont works try the bigger one!
In the bluetoothsettings you should find the sap profile after the installation, and in the programs a small utility to activate it. the Xperia himself has no SAP Profile!
wow!
I definately came to the right place! I will try this out tommorow first thing and let you know if it works!
Thnx's again. Also considering your rom now achmed20, because I believe this is quite basic functionality which should have been there in the first place!
As I said, I'll let you know if this worked!
not working yet
Well, that helped, a bit.
I get to the connection screen, have to enter the 16 digit pincode and after that the car just says connecting, and stays doing this for a minute or two and then just says failed or not compatible.
So I'm a lot further, but it isn't working yet! I'm thinking because of all the things I have tried, I might have broken it somewhere, but unsure how or what.
Thinking of maybe flashing it with a different (custom) rom, to see if that might fix the problem.
Anyone have any other advice?
no experience with the kind of trouble your having but if you want to try off on a fresh start, i would do a hard reset, then install the cab fix that was recommended.
still not working
I just installed the cmEX absolute TOUCH rom and did a hard reset after that.
Enabled rsap on the last tab of bluetooth and the car says its connecting and just does that for a long time (after entering pin code). Sadly enough, it just times out.
Anybody have any clue what could be the problem? I have the feeling we are allmost there, but there is just a little thing causing it to time out.
rsap even says it's connected to my skoda and everything.
From what I can gather, the cmEX absolute TOUCH rom is based on a touch HD.
more testing!
Okay, from what I have been able to gather, the following is going on.
The carkit is trying to log on in a frequency that it cannot handle.
I have been able to connect the carkit, download the address book and make calls with my Xperia now. No problems what so ever....except one. I was using a SIM from a collega whom has a different network!
I use t-mobile and my collegea has kpn/telfort. Doing more research, I have learned that kpn/telfort and vodaphone use the 1800 band frequency. And that t-mobile uses the 900 frequency.
I am not entirely certain at this point that this truly is the real problem, but, my phone works, my carkit and car works, so all the software bits are in sync, but only using a different sim. Rebooting the phone, changing nothing but the sim, makes it completely broken again!!
I'm using a RNS-510 with the Skoda/VW premium carkit. If anyone is able to shed some light on this and what possible fixes could be, I'd really like to hear!
I have been looking (and mailed) if a fiscon unit could potentionaly fix this problem. They also have units which intergrate with the system.
But I'd rather find a software solution, obviously. Sadly enough, manny cases can be found where people have problems, often, with no solution. This problems is *NOT* specefic to the Xperia, I do realize that now, since the new ROM, rSAP is working just fine.
more complex then ever....
Okay, things just more complex then ever before.
My x1 using a HTC touch HD rom base and rSAP from HTC (default in rom).
KPN sim = works and can call
Vodaphone sim = logs in but carkit crashes on trying to connect to cell towers. But car connection functions.
T-mobile sim = connection to carkit never gets finished.
I'm totally lost. Using a friends N95, all the sims work flawlessly.... which makes me even more clueless, because the carkit reads the sim data and then connects using it's own radio to the cell network.
Please, advice? How can this be fixed? Is there a different version of the HTC rSAP software available maybe?
The plot thickens again.
Using my sim card in my X1, not working. Original ROM, Original ROM + rSAP extensions, cooked rom from touch HD with native rSAP. Just non-functional.
Using the exact same phone, without the t-mobile sim but with the KPN sim, works perfectly, no problems what so ever.
Using an older Nokia E50, both sims work flawlessly, also my t-mobile sim.
This leads me to one conclusion and that is that the HTC rSAP implementation is seriously bugged.
Anyone have any idea on how to proceed? Somewhere I have read that the HTC's wouldn't handle 3G or UMTS sims and only use older ones. But, using the KPN sim I connect to 3G and it works. Also the nokia E50 of N95 can use any network and it just plain works. There for that statement is wrong in my opinion and it is caused by buggy software of HTC.
Anyone have a good idea on how to proceed? Lots of people having this problem and buying nokia's, but for no real reason other then buggy software it seems.
I really like my X1, and payed a lot of money for it, so I really need this to start working.... Please assist and help, also people with a diamond or other HTC, using the same software.
sadly enough, no progress
Did some tests again today, but sadly enough, no progress yet.
I'm going to try and get a hold of a Touch Diamond and a Touch HD and see how those preform with my sim. If my suspiciouns are correct, they will also fail, making this a combination of bad software with bugs with certain sim's.
That is the conclusion I am faced with right now... sadly enough, no idea how this can be remedied.
Are there developers whom might be able to write a reliable rsap implementation or will HTC ever come with a working version?
What do you guys think?
Sonyericsson will not provide SAP for the Xperia. Thats the point....
Been in contact with support
I have been in contact with Sony-Ericsson support and they tell me they cannot make the X1 compatible, because it is not just software.
Off course, to me this sound like total bull****, seeying I have allready had an raap connection with the X1. But this was either using HTC software add-on's or using a rom that was based on the htc touch HD.
Sadly enough, I cannot work without this functionality... and thus will be forced to sell my phone and buy... a nokia.... not bad, since I have had nokia's all my life. But I really really do not eNjoy beying forced to do so.
But everybody has known that the xperia has no SAP Profile... in every test, in every Datasheet you can see it! Why you buyed an xperia?
Wrong order
I orderd the x1 around the same time I orderd my new car (Skoda Superb II 2.0 TDI Ambition Business line ).
The car came with a carkit that can only do rSAP, but it is very very nicely intergrated with a external antenna, full adress book acces, etc. etc.
To my amazement, there was no rSAP on the phone, while all current high end models do carry support for it. Thus thought that a simple program or rom fix would provide it.... sadly enough, while some stuff works, it is very very flaky.
So it's a combination issue, off course I realize that. But I'd rather replace my phone and sell the x1, then having to change the carkit piece in my car (it is far more expensive). And still, I just cannot believe that such a basic function, is not in there.
Especially because it is made by HTC, which do carry this functionality!
So the problem was created by having both products in the same time frame. And my reluctance to believe such a high end phone would not carry this protocol.
From closer reading though. It seems that the x1 (with a custom rom) is not at fault here. If my speculations are right, any htc device with rsap from factory even has a big change that it is not going to function. Also reflected by my tests.
Using a HTC touch HD based rom on the X1, rsap is added and functions brilliantly using a KPN sim. Vodaphone works sometimes and crashes the carkit now and then and using a t-mobile sim, it does not work, at all. Since I have a t-mobile business account... it doesn't work at all for me.
I have not been able to get a hold of a Touch HD or Touch Pro to test if these problems also form on that phone, but will do so when I get the change.
So for now, even the HTC software seems to be bugged and thus I have formed my conclusion that my best option is to go back to nokia (which I have used for about 10 years now). The x1 is great, but not beying able to call in the car.... that just isn't going to work for me.
The new N97 looks pretty decent....
I have a jetta 06 tdi with mfd2(dvd version rev c) and skoda (kufatec) bluetooth modul installed by myself. I can do a Synchronisation of the Phonebook with Names and Numbers , dialed and missed calls , incomming calls with Names and i have a option to accept or decline a Call from the fis display , using my Multifunction Steering Wheel. Everything working perfect with my Xperia x1i.
Hmm
Most likely that module is a fiscon module or an older part of skoda. Am I correct?
The fiscon does not use rsap and older premium carkits from VW also did not. But their newest carkits included in the passat CC and skoda superb II are rsap only.

Old Version
Ah, yes. That is an orginal skoda part, but it is the older version from the Superb I and not the Superb II. That uses the other profiles and not rSAP.
touch HD behaves just the same
Hi everybody.
I had the chance to test both X1 (rSAP from cabs in post #3, thanks by the way) and HD (native rSAP implementation) on a VW touareg premium car kit and I must say they suffer from the same problems: most of the time the connection is established, but immediately drops and enters an endless loop of connection/disconnection, where everything can happen: car kit crashes, phone crashes, vodafone goes bankrupt, etc.
What hurts the most, though, is that very rarely and randomly, the connection with X1 is firmly established and everything, for unknown reasons, starts to work fine. This drives me crazy, for it would be a lot easier to cope if the feature wasn't available full stop.
Nonetheless, this makes me think a solution must exist somewhere, but I'm too much of a noob to find it...
Hope this helps, byebye.

GPS stopped working (HTC HD Mini) - It has always worked, but now is dead - HEEELP!!!

Dear friends,
I was so happy with my HTC HD Mini, running WinMo 6.5, with the HTC touchflo interface...
Capacitive touch screen, nice cpu, good memory, so sensitive, small and great...the most perfect cell phone i ever had...and i had all the windows mobile devices, since "cassiopeia", before the first Windows Mobile 2003 devices...yes, i had all microsoft mobile OS's...
I was so happy with everything that my small gadget gave to me...I used the GPS lots of times...it help on lots of travels...allways worked very well, sincronizing very quick with the satelites...
But few days ago, i tried to activate the GPS (i'm using iGo since i bought the phone) and....nothing happened...The GPS just don't work...don't find any satellite...
While the device is search available satellites, it show the busy satellites as red dots, and the available as yellow dots...as soon as it finds enough satellites, the gps trace the route and lead me through the way...
But few days ago i tried to use my GPS and nothing happened...the device just don't search anything...looks like the GPS receiver is broken...i don't know what happened...Maybe it felt down on the floor and break the GPS receiving antenna?
Does anyone here already had the same issue?
I'm desperate! It is my baby, my beloved phone, my third hand...
Does anyone can help me? Please? I'm almost begging!
I already tried the hard reset twice...nothing happened...i'm so sad............................
Thanks i advance,
Claudio Brito

Hi!
Have you tried android in the meantime? If GPS is deactivated in android it will also not work in windows mobile. At least that was the case for older android releases.
My Dear,
My phone is originally windows mobile, and i luv it...I really don't like android...by the way, it drains battery and make the phone slow (my friend have an HTC Aria, the same HTC HD Mini but using Android, and it sucks...mine is much faster...mine never crashes, never get slow...everything is fast all the time...thats why i like it so much...the first problem was that, about the GPS).
But, seppe82, thanks anyway...
I think my problem is a physical problem...maybe when felt down on ground the gps receiver disconnected...i don't know...
Does anyone had that problem in the past?
Damn...my phone used to be so perfect, and now i'm completely desapointed...
Does anyone sugest anything?
thanks
If it is a physical problem and you didn't use android on your phone I don't know the solution unfortunately. I just remember that somebody reconnected his gps antenna but I can't remember how he did it and whether it was mentioned in this forum or not.
Now I've found that topic and I see you already posted there. I hope there you get help. By the way: I also prefer wm over android on hd mini, since I'm not so keen in games and other apps but on a fast reliable OS
Good luck!

Thanks seppe82,
I really luv my WM6.5 HTC HD Mini...is the first problem i have, and the first bad thing i ever said about this phone...
It is still the best phone i ever saw and ever had.
There are faster WM6.5 and WP7 phones, but none is so fast AND SMALL...
I can use my Mini with only 1 hand...and can drive and navigate...the size is perfect...
My sister has an HTC Ultimate...is a beaultiful and top phone, but it's oversized...My hands looks small when i'm holding it...for her, as a women, she carries on her handbag, and it's no problem, but for me, that carries on the pants pocket , is too big.
I still believe that, someday, some company will launch a better phone with maximum 3.5" display (I heard about the Nokia Lumia 800 - first nokia Windows phone - but is too soon to talk about it) ...while it doesnt happens, Mini still the best!
Well...hope somebody can help me...hope somebody knows how to "reconect the gps antenna"...
The video that was posted on the other thread doesnt talk about the gps antenna...it worked for nothing...and the user that mentioned this doesnt answer me...hope he doesnt left the forum forever...
Pleaaaaaaaaaase, sombody help meeeeeeeee...Don't let my Mini die...Pleaaaaase!!!
u will better go to a HTC service or any other phone service instead of whinning here..
this forum is mostly about ROM's and software stuff, not hardware so if you have hardware issues go to the places i mentioned above
