*sigh* I know it's a battery drain but that's not the point (actually my tilt is almost constantly downloading anyway and it lasts just fine)
Why not use Seven push email and get email pushed to your phone when it arrives? Much better than polling.

Download link at the top. The software's awesome. Thank me later.

Thanks I actually kept searching and stumbled across this. I love this program delay is no more than 10 seconds in all my tests (thanks for recommending)
A couple questions though for anyone who has been using this. Does it use SMS I don't have very many SMS messages and I'd hate to have my bill run up because of it. <_< I also don't want to get rid of this program.

If you downloaded the beta version, which I assume you did, then it does NOT use SMS messaging to trigger any of the push. Only data. The older versions of Seven (which Cingular packaged as "XpressMail") used SMS.

Good to know. I used XpressMail when it was out. I didn't realize this was the same thing (kinda) I like this one a whole lot better and now that I don't really have to have my email auto Sync I'm sure I'll see an increase in battery life.....maybe (my push my tilt to the max LOL) Thanks for the info. Now I'm gonna enjoy this program

I can't see that this has been mentioned anywhere, but does anyone know how I can get my Leo to automatically delete SMSs after a set period, say 30 days. I send and receive a lot of 'em and manually deleting them is a bit of a chore.
Thanks.
ohh good idea. +1

great idea, had a sms tidyup app on an old nokia and it was a godsend
This would be ace, preferably a mod that you can choose how often to delete?
hello peeps, just want a quick tip please..
When viewing emails on my TP2 i get an 'internet pictures blocked click here' link.... anyone know how to download the pictures automatically without having to click the link all the time ?
Also if anyone knows how to do the same for the 'tap here to scroll right' link that'd be great.
Cheers.... drawflex
*bump* yea same issue anybody know how to solve it?
+ plus one for this as well!!!!!
this is a very small issue but it sure is an annoying one for me . there always seems to be some kinda problems when i hit download, tells me i have to wait for the next full download for that email account, which i think is silly because i hit download for it to download now, not later lol you know what i mean, other times it seems to just go into a endless loop asking me to download then telling me to wait and then asking me again to download, rinse and repeat lol.....
There's gotta be a reg edit out there or something that can do it!!!
Any pros out there wanna take a whack at it?? I wouldn't even know where to start lmao.....thanks a lot!!!
If you delve a little deeper into your mail settings:
Tools>Options>Download Size Settings>
Make sure you enable Download Entire Message and also Download attachments

If you delve into your email you would see that this does not work for automatically downloading the pics in an email.
/BUMP\ Anyone with some light they wanna shed on this one ? looks like it aint just me getting a little bit annoyed with this hangup.
This is an age old problem with the WM email application dating farther back since WM5. There is still no fix available till date for this annoyance.

if the sender is in your 'my contacts' group in gmail (I can only speak on experience with gmail) it seems to work.
Hi all, I searched to no end and read just about EVERY post looking for these answers sooo does anyone know of a reg edit where you can have the green light flashing when you receive an email? I already have it checked off in settings to "show on screen (does not do this either) and flash Light for "no limit" (I also put the .cab "LED Enabler on it) and also I'm looking to modd the Internet links and have Opera as default like I did to the XML file on my TP2. Last Question is how can I make TomTom the default for opening GPS in "Foot Prints" Anyone know how this is done on my TMOUS HD2 Thx...Tj
hmm noone knows?
Email light: I know for a fact that this was (and remains...) non-working in all the official ROMs and updates. HTC customer service even goes so far as to deny there's even a problem: they swear their green 'new email' light works just fine.
Several workarounds (I suggest not holding your breath 'til HTC gets around to fixing this...):
- PhoneAlarm. The developer has made a fix that will fire the green light. It's a paid app, but does all sorts of other amazing things though (mute your alarms when you get to a specific cell tower or GPS spot, for instance).
- This app by an XDA member: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636439&page=14
just check the box for messaging in an app called bsb tweaks. it works fine on stock roms.
THANK YOU both for the answers on the problem...Tj
WELL the bSb program messed up the phone. Its now showing 2 SD cards and all my programs are not responding on my T-mo HD2

No-one said SMS light doesn't work; it's the 'new email' LED that doesn't work...for anyone.

What's this got to do with push mail?
well i just figured that those were the only options of getting email to the phone other than sms and mms.
im not familiar with all the e-mail stuff.
so if its not microsoft direct push, what other means are you guys/gals talking about?
I can't get the LED to flash for NEW Email either. Kinda annoying!
Well at least I'm not the only one...Tj
I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue and just wanted to know you thoughts...
My SMS threads with 400+ are really starting to take a while to open, one of my threads with 600+ takes over 8 seconds before it shows up after I select it (just shows the loading message) and then another 3 - 6 seconds before I can click on the message to reply... Other than deleting the thread, does anyone else know how to resolve this? I find it hard to believe that a 1GHz processor can't handle a thread of 600 messages...
By the way, I have HTX Sense turnes off, I'm running a stock HTC non animated background, only 3 widgets that don't do much, and nothing running in the background (by using Advanced Task Killer @ Fast Reboot).
Thanks You'all for your help!

I just want to say thanks- I've used this program before, but never noticed its superiority until now... it really is much faster and better in every way- now I just gotta figure out how to remove the stock SMS notification so I'm not clearing two notifications for each SMS...
Thanks Again,
Rob

Just open the stock messaging app, hit menu, settings, disable notifications.
Don't take this wrong - but why would you need/want/desire to keep 2000 text messages. Are you in a legal battle and need to document everything?
Keeping messages can come in handy, but I prefer to clear out occasionally, so I use SMSBackup (free app) and it copies all my messages to a folder in my GMail account, so I can still search them if I need to get a hold of something in the history. Not to mention the added plus of looking through my messages from a desktop when I want to find a number or address..
Hi there.
I've had problems with my HD2 since I got it shortly after release last year. I've upgraded it to the latest ROM 1.66 and I still *had* problems with extreme sluggishness and freezing. "Services.exe" was a program that often got problems. I also had the "sleep of death" syndrome.
After I updated it and did a hard-reset I used PIMbackup to backup my contacts, SMS messages, appointments and such. No programs were restored. It still had the same problems. So I tried different things, but with no luck, until I did a hard-reset and restored everything except for my SMS messages. There were about 1600 of them, which I personally think is not that many. Now it runs fine, no freezing nor sluggishness.
So my question is, is it normal for an expensive smart phone like this to get that slow and unstable just by having a little too many SMS messages?
Thanks in advance.

i've just gone an deleted 5000 SMS's and i was not having any problems with slowness.
I just deleted them for a bit of house keeping, thats all.
i weekly take backup of sms's using pimbackup. if i dont clear the sms then it will b very difficult to text and open the application. it takes around 10-15 seconds to open a conversation thread with mor than 2000 sms's and around 8-10 seconds for 200-700 sms.
I weekly send around 4-5000 sms's and this fone have only one BAD point.. that is Messaging client.

So if you can have triple the amount of text messages than me, that must mean that there is something wrong with my phone, right?
If I send it to repair, they'll probably just hard-reset it, take a quick test on it, and sent it back saying they didn't find any problems on it. Isn't that right?

thats may be why, i dont, i found with HTC messaging client that with as little as 100 sms in my inbox the client would lag, so i reverted to WM messaging client and runs like a dream, on its not the best looking client but still, does the job as they say.
Ah, ok. Where can I find the WM client?
Thanks for your help!
im not 100% sure but i think there shuold be a way of dissabling HTC client and it will default to WM SMS, maybe someone else could shed some light on this
Nevermind, found it =)
