CID unlock - software
SIM unlock - carrier
You can HARDSPL to CID unlock your phone.
Unfortunately, there is no SIM unlock option available at this time on XDA. You can either google "IMEI check" and go thru them, or if you have a Tmobile account that's been active for a few months, you can call them and ask them to unlock your phone.
I dont know whether we have to go with CID unlock - software or

What you have to do is Sim Unlock it, because I'm assuming there is no T-mobile in India...

Use a paid service. You'll have to know the IMEI number (easy enough)

Ive tried myself and searched EVERYWHERE and have not been able to find a SIM Unlock for my G4

Ok.. So I talked to Unicel today and apparantly my Wizard was sent to me already CID and SIM unlocked... What is the easiest way to test it out to see if it it CID and SIM unlocked??
It is sure that you can SIM unlock the G4 freely by using the software the guy gave above.
I am using a G4 and it is sim-unlocked.
To test it whether it is sim unlocked or not, just put in another sim card rather than 3G simcard. If it is working, then unlocked, otherwise, sim locked.
At the moment there is no free way to do the CID unlocked thing for G4. To pay to unlocked your G4, check the wizzard wiki.
To check whether your G4 is CID unlocked or not, use the Mtty. I am also looking for it.
Last but not least, people here are working for G4 CID unlocking. Hopefully, we will get free unlock software in the near future. Again, i am also waiting for it.

do you want a sim unlock or a cid unlock?
sim unlock will allow to use your phone with carriers other than the branded one.
cid will let you flash a custom rom to your phone.

sim-try contacting your service provider and telling them you're going overseas. If they wont give you the code, try one of the many paid services out there.

Hey guys, please excuse my noobness, I have read thoroughly but I am still confused!
I have an O2 Orbit (ie Artemis) and I am going to the USA soon.
I've become a bit confused as to what I need to do to my Artemis to get it working with a prepay sim in the states.
I've seen the posts about cid unlocking, but I'm not sure if that's the same as a sim unlock, and I don't want to brick my phone!
I'm not too bothered about cooked roms etc, I have updated to WM6 and I'm reasonably happy with it, I just want to be able to use my phone in the USA.
Would someone be kind enough to take the time to explain what I need to do?

I think it should already work in the US. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that only phones bought in the US from a provider are SIM-locked. CID unlocking is only used to help you flash your phone to a different ROM, which, as you already mentioned, you are not interested in doing.
I see, so CID unlocking is nothing to do with what I want, I simply need a SIM unlock, assuming my phone is SIM locked.
SIM locking is normal practice for UK service providers, so I assume it is locked.
Is there any way I can tell if my phone is SIM locked, or do I have to test it by putting a SIM card from a different provider in it?
does anyone know if rooting and the cyanogen mod unlocks the g2 by default? for some reason i put in a foreign sim card (China Mobile) and it did not say "Please input unlock code" as per the Tmobile instructions on unlocking say.
For reference, i got the unlock code from Tmobile. didnt have a chance to use it though. does this make sense?

I got an LG stylo 3 that have a sim lock only for T-mobile(USA). i want to unlock him to use the carrier in my country.
i already spoke with Tmobile and they told my if i want to unlock the phone i have to work with them for one year ( and i dont want it)
i read some guide on the internet and they sell an activation codes. the problem that i don't have any place to enter the code ( in there giud they say that i should get an activation message when im insert a new SIM card - and i don't get any message)
there is a way to unlock the phone? maybe installing new ROM?

I don't know if this is relevant anymore to you but i just did this yesterday. AFAIK, there's no way to network unlock this via software. You'll have to go to any store that do Network unlocking, it costed me 30US$ here in MIami
