I recently sent this email to the O2 Support team, but knowing how long it takes for companies to respond, I was hoping someone could help me before my parents find out and kill me
Dear O2 Support Team,
I recently accidentally dropped my O2 into the sink, while the water was running. I took off the silicon case and held the phone upright, to allow excess water to drip out. The phone was working perfectly, although I noticed the camera was not working. I put this down to water getting fogged in the lenses, however, and dismissed it.
After some time, I decided to check inside the battery compartment, and dry wet components there (the battery, etc). On restarting the device, however, all that was displayed on the screen was the MN1 Bootloader (see below). When my miniSD card is inserted, the device appears to be searching the contents of the card to find the following components:
Code:
* diskimg.nb0
* eboot.nb0
* dm.nb0
* flash.img
* agent.mot
* mot.mot
* CPLD.img
* assetInf.img
* extended.img
* MDOC.img
which do not exist. The phone then stops responding to key presses.
If the phone is booted without the card inserted, the following text appears:
Code:
========MN1 Bootloader========

reboot for next usage
The power button does not work at this stage, or at any time after turning the device on. I have tried rebooting by removing and reinserting the battery, as well as pressing the reset key at the bottom of the device.
I do not possess the manual, as I received this phone second-hand from a family member, and cannot afford a replacement.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

OH THANK GOD! It works now. I'm not entirely sure what it was, either. I just replaced the SIM card and plugged my phone into the computer. Without the SIM, it was still being a nut. I think my phone just wants to mess with me T_T
Thread closed. Thankyou for taking the time to read this thread, if you read it I'm sorry it's so ridiculously long.
Your PDa condition it same with mine, please tell me how do you solve this problem

is anyone prepared to shed some light on my problem !!
situation - tried to upgrade executive rom - upgrade seemed to run well right throught to the congratulations screen - i was then told to reset device after which i was given the prompt - press x or 0.
after which the device tried to reboot however !!! and this is where it goes expensivley wrong the machine then poweres up with a very unusual screen pattern - it looks like a fizzy hash of red green and blue pixels - the device will not power down or anything - i f i squint at the screen i can see what is almost text around three lines near bottom right of screen but it is impossible to decipher. if i soft key - - and reset then i get back to the familier grey back drop with the request "press 0 to restore - press x to exit"
whichever i choose the above situatipon prevails.
i have read many many posts all bear no fruit whatsoever - i try running the mtty utility ( suspecting that i have issues with bootloader) but i cant get it to offer me a usb conection - i have religiously worked through various trouble shoots on this including running it on laptop which isnt installed with activsync, on this i am offered com 1 - 2 - 3
but nothing seems to connect to the device i would like somone to confirm if i am in a retrievable situation or that i am wasteing my time - idealy if anyone could point me at or guide me through to a solution i would happily show my appreciation via a donation to this forum and or otherwise.
if i try to run helimis rom using noid.exe i get error code 150 - this suggest to me that the utility is connecting to the device although i am not completly convinced it is connecting.
please be assured i am not trying to avoid helping myself with this post i am prepared to read and search through posts " which i have been doing" but i guess due to my inexperiance i might be overlooking some relative information.
Try the following:
1. Press power button+reset+backlight to enter bootloader mode.
2. Connect your machine to the host PC with USB cable.
3. Start upgrade as before.
I hope it helps...
thanks but that doesnt work

Hi, were you able to get into the bootloader? if so please give us some more details about this last procedure suggested by jarbi.

Just one more idea: did you remove your SD and SIM card before connecting ? It causes sometimes a problem for USB connection.
Yes sim and sd card removed
Yes sim and sd card removed prior to attempting - as far as i can tell my device is not entering bootloader mode correctly the screen is a "fizzy hash of pixels red green and blue".
Wow - that's bad news. I was thinking of re-flashing mine just for the fun of it, but maybe not....

I dropped my phone from a low distance and now on the bootup screen it shows a message saying no GSM. The ROM version is 1.34.502.1 but on the radio version tab there is no number or anything. On protocol version there is also no number or letters. Also there is nothing for the IMEI. I cannot open up the program (phone) or text anyone. I have tried a hard reset and some soft resets but those did not work. My sound quit working too.......
Also if this helps, i have WM5
OS 5.1.195(build 14955.2.3.0)
Wifi - works
Bluetooth - works
All other Programs (besides phone) - works
All i want to know is if i can fix GSM and if i can then sound and my broken LCD are very small problems.
Thanks

Before assuming something very major, let's be sure all the routine things have been tried:
1
Hard reset - you've tried that, but it's worth trying again, but first try number 2 below
2
Remove the battery from the phone for 30 minutes or so and reboot after doing number 3 below:
3
Remove the SIM card, clean the contacts. Insert and re-insert it several times. This cleans the contats on both the card and the phone.
As you say the sound is likely just a loose connector and the LCD, just a case of getting the correct make (there are at least 3 non interchangeable brands)

I'm afraid your phone still did receive hardware damage Looks like the radio chip soldering is the least reliable (on certain models?) and can be easily broken, thus so many people have the dreaded "No GSM" problem and are unable to flash a new radio.
I think it's just your SIM-Card, which has loosen due to the drop.
I dropped my Phone so many times, i stopped counting. It now looks horrible scarred but it works like the first day i bought it.

In that case, the phone would just display a "No SIM card" notification. But since ZZsk8erZZ's Hermes displays "No GSM" at boot time, I'm afraid the problem is more serious than that. At any rate, it wouldn't do any harm if ZZsk8erZZ checks how securely is his SIM card inserted into the slot.
I added a few pieces of paper to the sim to push it against contacts but that didnt work. Ill try to reflash radio and if not then... i will have to go with my razr. How i wish i could use my 8525. Thanks anyways.
You can do a few things to get it back. First you have to open the case - a task that should take a few minutes with the right tools - the instructions are posted here and everywhere. Once open - RESEAT EVERY CONNECTOR and put it back together. If it doesn't work (ie still NO GSM) the motherboard is damaged and no amount of flashing will bring it back. These things are VERY sensitive and although they were made for road warriors they weren't built for them. The boards are multilayered and the connectors aren't (except for the dpad) screwed down. The flexiribbon cable is also a very weak design and cracks over time when you slide the keyboard in and out.
If the board is damaged you can do a few things - if the case and screen/keyboards are in great shape - buy a totally cosmetically trashed unit and put in the motherboard into your phone - otherwise strip it for parts and sell them on ebay - there is a market for dpads if working, flex cables and other small bits including the rear antenna plug - even small case bits will fetch some cash. Add it up and go shopping for a decent 8525. Supplies seem to be dwindling and prices are still pretty high though for unblemished fully working units. Just ask the sellers ALOT of questions before jumping in. They may say the unit freezes sometimes or there are a few working defects in these I'd walk away.
I got stuck with a TYTN HERMES 200 where the seller said everything was fine but it would freeze sometimes. Got the phone - was pristine but had the NO GSM error sometimes then fully died in a matter of days. Fortunately snapped it up for only 45. Bought a working HERMES 100 AT&T for 40 locally which worked perfectly except the seller messed up the LCD.
NoGsm Herm200
Hi!
I do have also a broken Herm200. I have droped it from the table, and since then I have NoGsm error when booting. I have tried several rom flashing but every time it stops on 12% flashing. Even when I did it with microSD was the same.
IPL - OK
SPLASH 1 - OK
SPASH 2 - OK
EXTROM - OK
GSM - when gets here the flashing stops.
OS -
Before that I had tryed several hard resets, soft resets, different key combination, and many, many ways...but still NoGsm is present.
I am now seeking for a motherboard.
If you know anyone...
Thank you
pleas!!
hello
The message “NO GSM” started suddenly appearing on start-up and of course the phone is not functional afterwards.

But rading SIM card
After the time is not responding

I raise the files on the Web
(4Shared) or (Media Fire)
Thank you very much
Hey Everyone,
Since there are tons of problems with the HTC i made a quick run through of what you should do if any problem occurs and known solutions, hopefully to reduce the number of posts.
If any problem rises these steps should be taken before posting:
1. Try a Hard-Reset by pressing the volume up and down and power key, this is return everything to default settings and if the problem is resolved it might be a software you installed, or just a random windows fault.
2. Try reloading your current ROM with Task29 you have installed, through PC preferably and then do a hard-rest. If the problem is resolved it might be a software you installed, or just a random windows fault.
3. Try reloading the Radio, if it resolves, you might have had a corrupt radio file
4. Try reloading your Official ROM using SD card thus removing HSPL to see if it resolves issue.
5. If you phone won't turn on, try taking out the battery for an hour, put your battery back in, plug in the phone, and then leave alone for 10 minutes, then try to start. Might be a battery issue if it does boot.
Common Problems with HTC HD2:
1) Touch Screen stops responding
Resolution: Call HTC and have them repair it as it seems like your digitizer stopped working and will need the screen to be repaired.
2) Constant Freezing and reseting of HD2
Resolution: Could be your motherboard, if you followed all steps above i would recommend calling HTC to have it repaired.
3) Phone will not turn on after flashing rom or radio
Resolution: you might have bricked your phone, thus out of luck.
4) USB socket has broken off the PCB
Resolution: You need to replace motherboard and is not covered under warranty.
Warranty Procedure of HTC:
They will require your SN number of your phone, explain your problem, and ship it to them. Pretty simple. Remember the 1 year warranty they have in place is based on manufacture warranty not actual sale date. If you bought this phone and still have a year left and there computer states you do not have a year left, this is when a receipt is required. They do not care if your IMEI is blocked or anything, they only want to fix your phone. It will take approx. 2 weeks to fix and get back to you.
If you want to add anything else to this list just msg me. And if you like this post please Thanks ;-)

I had some problems with my screen since it didn't work properly in some areas and it began suddenly one day.
I was trying to solve it through many different ways:
* revert to factory build
* reinstall updates
* uninstall everything
* root my device and install many different roms
* putting on a fridge for sometime as it said in many forums
* bla bla
I finally solved it.... by changing the digitizer, I bought a new one on ebay and now the phone is brand-new again
If you don't know how to change it there are some videos on youtube.
I hope this can help many people.

I had a similar problem. When I touch the screen on the middle or the top, it reacts like I touch the button. No matters where i touch the screen only the button was reacting. It was not a hardware issue because after flashing the "Elelinux 2.3.4" rom the problem was solved. Since I used this rom everything is working, and incredibly fast.
Don't you guys have warranty?
A few days ago I did sent mine back to the support center.
It's kinda for the third time in 6 months..
Hello amazing XDA community!
I was setting up a few of these Asus tablets for my kid's school as a tech savvy helpful parent and I was doing a great job up until I tried setting up the kid mode. Apparently, someone already did! Upon launching the kid mode app, it took a hold of the entire system, preventing access to all other apps and settings. Here's what I tried so far:
* contact my kid's teacher, other teachers and IT support of the school, nobody seems to remember setting any PIN on these tablets.
* a list of most common PIN numbers
* tapping in a few hundred combinations
* jamming the PIN pad randomly
* attempted to answer the questions in forgot PIN recovery (among which 'year of birth' from 1900 to 2018)
* rebooted in safe mode (kid mode appears just the same)
* sending commands via adb (device is rooted but isn't authorized)
* smashing the tablet against my forehead (didn't actually do this but I imagined it)
According to the Asus website, I'm going to have to wipe the whole thing but I'd like to hear if there's any more clever ideas for me to try before I do that. Thoughts?
If any Asus people read this: you failed making a kid proof environment. Instead, you created adult proof security software, dammit! >_<
