My microphone is not working, i've sent phone to repair shop, but they couldn't help me. If i manage to do it, i'll make a guide to help other people with mic problems.

If you are asking about changing the microphone, I suggest this is not possible unless you have specialised equipment. The Hermes has a multi-layer m'board and it's not a simple case of removing one and soldering in another mic.

Disable Mic on Magician?

#1: Don't bump your thread three times in one day, it pisses people off, and you won't get any help.
#2: Why would you want to disable it if you're not in a call anyway?[/list]

thats bcoz we don't support lazy a** like u! read the project VCABT its absolutely clear there!!
i have read it and found no mention of disabling the mic. thanks for the help though, real usefull.
so i still havent got an answer then?
i use a BT headset and its not even connected when not in a call.. only when i make a call or recieve a call does the phone connect to the headset... so i dont know what your askin for.. sorry
i am asking the fantastically simple question, how do you turn the microphone on an imate JAM OFFFFFFFF!
neckarb - I'm sorry you're getting so stressed mate. I'll tell you what I know, and I hope it helps.
Basically, it's not possible to have manual control of the microphone. There's no sound mixer controls manually accessible to users, so no, you can't switch it off easily. However, if you want to try and figure out if there is a more technical way to do this, look into the Multimedia SDK on MSDN.

thank you so much mate your the first one with a straight answer, thank you again.
The microphone's not active if you're not in a call anyway. The only possible reason you'd need to turn the mic off is if you're in a call (there's a mute options for it), or if you were recording, in which case, stop recording. Please FOAD, and stop treating people as if they were put on earth to answer your pointless pathetic questions!
its because im using bt ms voice command, which leaves the mic on the magician on while im using the headset for voice command.

hi, first thread: what kind of couple-capacitive needed?

hi,
this is my first thread here, sorry for my bad english - but i'll try my best.
i want to connect my xda2 with the 22 pin-connector for mp3 in my car.
in your conectors-page is a note:
Audio needs to be capacitively coupled in, any DC bias seems to inhibit audio
i want to ask, what c is needed here? (how many farrad, what kind of C)?
please can you give me some tipps?
is there anyone who has built such a connection? is this a good way to connect the xda2 through the car-radio, or is it better to connect via audio-jack?
my opinion: i found it very uncomfortable to connect first the audio-connector (specially in the dark), and i would be very happy if it works through the 22-pin connector.
please please...gimme a tipp.
or did anyone connect the xda2 and car-stereo without couple-c?
c'mon please, a little answer and i'll be happy.
anyone must have finished a 22pol-connector by himself, or am i wrong?
ty
frustrated...(bad first experience)...
you may be asking too much of a technical question for the cuurent people who watch this board.. i get the impression that the xda-developers site started out with a lot of smart people reverse engineering and dismantling the devices, but its now become more of a software tech support site than a hardcore HTC guru site..
Hi there sorry to hear you have had a bad experience.
as stated xda-dev no longer is as good as it used to be.
i had a quick look at the diagram and from what i can see you should not need capacitors at all.
from what i can see if you connect up pins 3 and 4 to the necessary inputs on your stereo the sound is fine.
a problem i can see however is that to get output on these pins you need to attach pin 19 to ground with a 10k resistor...but this will also redirect the microphone so you wont be able to use it as a phone whilst you have it plugged in unless you also build in a microphone (mind you this should be pretty easy if you wish to do it).
hope that helps

O2 Exec/Universal: I want to take it apart, any Guidlines ??

Has any one taken a universal apart, or could help me with some guidelines.
Read the Wiki or do some searching..
We have the whole service manual of the thing!

Please post the link of the service manual!!!
Please scan it in if you don't have it in electronic form.
When I say "we", I'm referring to the users of this forum...
It's available for download from the FTP server..
And you would know this if you bothered using 20sek on SEARCHING!
A search for UNIVERSAL SERVICE MANUAL gives all the info you need!
quiblet:
You are new to this site; please use the search function before asking. :!:
I find it highly unlikely that your problems are unique and never asked before.
Leek:
I'm at work, so I don't have FTP access.
It should be in the upload folder if I remember corectly..
Are you saying I'm not a "user"?
I spent hours searching. I browsed the FTP server.
The Wizard manual is there (Prodigy dah dah dah).
In fact, I helped people find it, by linking to it (see my posts). We're not all clueless, but the site needs improvement as far as linking information. Just a week ago, the Wiki was entirely broken.
I don't see a Universal manual. I browsed around 6 days ago. I haven't seen any recent anouncements of a new one.
The Wiki has no link on the Universal page to any service manual. Lots of technical information and pictures, but no PDF service manual -- nothing like the Wizard's.
I'm a computer scientist and have been programming assembly code since 1985, so it's not like I can't navigate.
leek:
It was there when I downloaded a few weeks ago..
If it has been removed, I shall extend my sincere appologies to you.
I shall allso see if I have a copy on my harddrive when I get home..
Well, it looks like I don't have to appologize at all!
It took me less than a minute when I found a computer with FTP acces..
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Un...C_CONFIDENTIAL_-_UNIVERSAL_SERVICE_MANUAL.pdf
Now, I haven't been programming since 1985, cuz I was born in 1985.
But root\Universal\Manuals etc doesn't seem to be the worst place to look for a manual, is it?
Anyway; I'm glad you took the time to write a constructive reply to my post..
Most people don't bother..
Strange... I did not see that last week when I searched. If it was there, I don't know how I missed it.
I will fix the Wiki (assuming it works again) to point to it.
You have redeemed yourself. And so shall I.

Thanks - I have taken the Universal completely apart.

I have a headset fault that I have tried to fix by inserting the headset several times. And looks like I need a Motherboard. Does anyone know where I can get one????
Try this. You will have to send it to them I think.

eh? surely all you need is a 3.5mm 4 point headphone jack? the usual fault is the detection microswitch 'sticks' in place and closes the circuit so the phone always thinks there is a headset attached. What makes you thnk you need a board? And why isn't your unit under warranty being less than a year old? :?: ( exec brand universals have 2 years)
Richard
p.s if you *really* need a board drop me a pm.
Thanks for the info !
I have the 4 point jack that came with the unit, as for the microswitch is there any way to reset it ?? manually.
I bought my unit from Ebay shortly after the unit developed this fault and the O2 warranty states that the original purchaser only can use the warranty, HTC Europe on reading the website will repair it but for a charge.
So I'm painfully living with the fault currently.

Does the microswitch work? Have you put a metre accross the contacts and checked it? Usually they just stick rather than fail, but they are available as a spare if you look hard enough. ( Farnell's / CPC etc )
HTCeurope will not ( from experience ) repair XDA branded units. As for the warranty not being transferrable according to their terms, threaten to sue as it's against your 'hooman writes' or summat- works for me  ( but never tried with o2 )
Richard
Where is the microswitch ????
Where can I measure on the actual headset jack??
Thanks

It's *inside* the socket, when you insert the headphone jack plug, it depresses to detect insertion. You measure across the contacts.

I see 4 contacts on the top of the Jack plug, I have measured for open & closed circuit but have come to no conclusion - to fix this If I unsolder the heaset Jack and then turn the unit on again will this cancel the microswitch just to prove the fault?? Then I will buy another jack??
Your thoughts
Thanks

Qtek 2020 headphone connector broken :(

Hello all,
My Qtek 2020 (Himalaya PH10B) fell on the floor with the headphones on, and the mini-jack for connector for the headphones broke inside it.
I successfully opened it, and I was able to see the damages. I can see only 6 pins that connected the mini-jack plug to the main board, and it seems that there could be a seventh that got broken...
Would anyone of you know of a closeup picture of this headset plug/connector ? Do you know if it is possible to find a new one ? If not, mine looks reparable still, but I would feel reassured if I knew the exact connection here
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers
Thomas

Thank you for your answer Rudegar,
I re-soldered the connector, and I realized that a pin was indeed missing. I actually found it freely moving inside the PDA, but I could not solder it back to the connector. The results ? Well, it still does not work, unfortunately... With the headset on, it is mainly okay (there is still a little contact problem) but *withou* the headset, it still has no sound...
So :
1) Can I find this connector somewhere ?
2) Is there a way to tell the PDA not to check for the headset, and use the main speaker all the time ?
3) Would it change anything if I bought a blutooth headset ?
Thank you in advance !
Cheers
Thomas
1.) i doubt it would be a cheap option if htc had a special connector made just for their phones so i'd asume they use some sort of std component
and maybe there even is a partNr og serial on the connector
which could be used to find a replacement in R&S catalog
http://www.rs-components.com/index.html
2.) no pretty sure the switch between headset and internal speaker is don in hardware and software cant control it
3.) no with bluetooth headset you just dont use the audio connector which mean it would be empty and you'd have no sound on the pda
but it would prob solve poor contact issue of your current headset
Thank you Rudegar !
I am going to re-open it and check if I can find any serial # on the component. It looks like it is my best option. Obviously, if I find something, I will post it on that forum, so that other people can know...
Thanks again !
Cheers

Replacement part (number) for 3.5mm audio jack/socket.

The audio/headphone jack in my HD2 T-mobile US broke and I want to replace it. I have been looking all over the internet to find the replacement part, part number or service manual of the HD2. Unfortunately, I have not found anything. Would anybody please provide the part number or place where I can buy new connector/socket?
Thanks in advance.
I am also interested to find this part. Have you had success in finding it?
Hi,
