I dont' know if anybody has noticed this. After going thorugh Start / Settings / System Tab / Memory / running programs tab I stop all running progrrams. After sometimes I go to this place again and I find Active Sync as a running application even though I have not started it.
This did not happen on my old pda2k. Why does it happen on the universal JJ. Though it does not matter but yet it is taking some useful RAM and more so my urge to know why does it happen.
I will appreicate your views

Same here. I hope they fix things like this in Rom updates.
Try putting in dummy exchange server settings, disable all scheduled updates. That should stop AS autostarting.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I had some problems whereby Active sync stopped working for me alltogether. Decided to download and install the unofficial 4.1 version of Activesync in conjunction with Magicbutton (and disabled the 'close' feature of Spb pocket plus 3) and presto, I'm no longer getting Activesync running in the background and all aplications close as they should!
If anyone is still experiencing problems in this area, give this a try and please post your experience back here.
Yeah your right Efjay, one handed operation in WM 5 rocks , but I'm still struggling to put the stylus down (I've become so used it, it's a new learning curve for me).

Try turning on wifi, and AS will come right back. I tried your solution and no luck. I tried faking the server and changing the schedule otpion, no luck, it just lives on....

Hi All. Just to report back, I,ve not had the recurring problem with Activesync poppin back anymore, at all, whatsoever!
Mikee: I tried as you said, and used wi-fi to surf the web, then watched a 2 hour movie on the JAsJar, then reconnected the wi-fi and listened to Resco Radio for 15 minutes, then checked memory status under settings. Nothing. No Activesync and nothing else running in memory. for me at least, the problem is gone and I'm not using any dummy server settings either! I'm typing this from the JasJar now and as we speak....just checked memory again. Nothing.
I don't know what to say, but I know you've had this problem a while now and all I can think is that it's either the software you have installed (possibly need a clean re-install of Activesync 4.1) like skype, which I uninstalled the minute I got my JasJar, or your Radio ROM update, which I have not done either.
Anyway, sorry I can't be of any more help to you, but please post your findings here if you snag the culprit.

Hello All,
I don't think this problem is specfic to the JasJar, as I have the very same problem on my PDA2K. This only started happening after I upgraded to the windows of OS. So, I think it's more to do with W05 and or activesyne 04 which is needed to run W05. I have also found that this happen befor I even installed any apps on system, and I never had Skype so that can be ruled out as the culprit. Anyway, still trying to solve this bug, Have not recieved my Universal as yet...I'm waiting for the o2 version :shock: Think the black rocks! Until then I have been keeping my eye on all the help from this section of the site...Just my 2cents

QuickGPS popped up as having failed to download. I manually tried... using GPRS, ActiveStync, and WiFi connections. All failed. I can't really find much out about the program. (Yes, I searched xda!)
1. Anyone know what might be the cause?
2. Anyone know if this really makes a difference? (Some posts on other forums claim it makes little to no difference.)

QuickGPS doesn't download

I have found I can't download QuickGPS data while my Ameo is plugged into my PC at work (i.e. in activesync). It's probably just the setup of my companies firewall but if I unplug it, QuickGPS downloads okay with normal GPRS.

Yes that is strange, but I remember having this issue before. Check how much time is left before it runs out. I think if there is a certain amount of time left, it won't connect for some reason, but when it gets low enough, it will. Well that has been my experience to date.
In options I have the 3rd setting checked...only update when connected via Activesync. Whenever I check the status, I always seem to have 2 days and xx hours left.
Don't know how else to help mate. If your time has expired, there's a problem, but if not, I don't think it's an issue as it must be doing it silently.
P.S. wgary I don't believe the app to be essential anyway, cause its just for faster signal acquisition when you start your GPS software...unless I'm mistaken.

Or at least it's supposed to be - I've never found it helps much.
My quickGPS can no longer get updates. Any thoughts on what might be going on?
how do u usually get your updates? activesync? wifi? might be some apps that you have installed, retrace your steps and delete your recent installation if any and try again.
I just updated without a problem from Spain.
So problem must be in your PDA or connection.

Maybe they have some intermittant connection issues at their end, everything else is working perfectly for me and in the past I could get an update 100% of the time 100% flawlessly.
Maybe there are many more users connecting than when I first got my ameo?
Hi all, i've been searching and i cant find any info on this. I apologize if it is out there and i just didnt find it. If anyone knows of any threads, pls let me know. Here is my problem:
I recently upgraded my Hermes to wm6, i tried a few roms and settled for Schaps. Then i upgraded my radio, since my area of ceasars bay in brooklyn ny has the worst possible reception on the planet other than the south pole. I upgraded to 1.50 then down to 1.40, then up to 1.54.07, then back down to 1.48. Now, the problem starts.
ever since the upgrade to 1.54.07, i could not access the internet through the 3g/edge. i would get a "dialed modem ended session" or similar message. I do NOT have a data plan, but i was able to use it previously regardless and was charged per usage. After the upgrade, i could not use it regardless. Soo..i figured i could try something. I went on to ATT's site, and added a data plan to my acct. After that, the 3g/edge worked, but then my Wlan connection doesnt. Now, the question: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TO DO? THanks in advance.

Thanks, i reinstalled Schaps Rom and it was fine. i think it was because of a internet sharing cab that i installed.
Could someone please explain to me what the WiFi problem is supposed to be with the VegaComb? With mine, I can't actually connect to my home WiFi unless I'm literally 2m from the modem (which is ridiculous). It worked before from further away, and my phone's WiFi still connects so it must be to do with the VegaComb, but I haven't seen anyone else experience a problem this big. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? All else failing, I'll just wait for a patch/update but it better sort this problem out! Worried it might not because no one else seems to be having it.
