SMS Triggers to activate a Sync of Pull email account

Any help would be appreciated.....
I currently have T-Mobile USA myemail running and it sends me an alert everytime I get a new email at work, I then have to open my inbox and do a send/recieve its not a problem but I would like to know if an sms can trigger a send/recieve??? I know that I can set it to do one every # of mins but having the gprs constantly connected decreases the battery life

Take a look at vgsmail in the magician thread 'pus-email now available'. It's an imap client running on WM2003.
You got to have gprs constantly connected though, but I can hardly live without it anymore.

thanks for the reply I already have the email running, but i get an sms when new email arrives and then i have to do a manual send/recieve

oltp's advice is worth a look - a different way of collecting the mail -much like a blackberry using IMAP instead of polling

I would love to look at alternativs but my corporate email is not accessible from outside the network and has no imap or pop access
we are on lotus notes so I have to use an app like smartner or t-mobile myemail it does the job and I found a t-mobile app that does what I needed

emails disappearing??

Hi all,
I am trying to figure out why my pop3 accounts (i have 2) always seem to disappear after a day or so of me opening them. One account gets all of the email and the other gets headers only. but when i try to open up the two accounts or even go into outlook express, they are never there.
I can't find any setting that says keep all email that I don't delete. Can anyone advise please? It's probably a simple answer but I can't figure it out yet :\

You need to be more specific. Which email service are you using on your device? If it is Gmail then you need to let the device auto detect the settings and leave the default usename to "recent:username". Otherwise the messages will go away after a day or 2.

sorry i didnt think the email service would matter. it seemed like more of a settings on the phone issue. its roadrunner, time warner - pop.nycap.rr.com
i receive them fine and that's no problem. but they just go away after a day or two even if i haven't synced. why wont they fill up my inbox like microsoft outlook does on my pc??

Well you may need to check your email account settings on roadrunners website. For example when you log into a gmail account on the web there is a link for Pop/forwarding settings. In there you can set "Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 8/2/04". Once this is set then all mail will stay on the device after 8/2/04. Assuming roadrunner has a setting like this then you will want to make sure it is setup properly via the roadrunner website. However if email is staying in outlook on your home pc and not on your device then this might not be your problem.
If I were you I would first delete the account on your device and set it up again making sure you allow the device to detect settings automatically.

Well, I only use a exchange server but in activesync dont you specify how many days of emails you want to store? Default is 3 days, so emails automatically are removed from the phone after 3 days.

surrept, thanks i will check that out - i never let it do auto detect cause the few times i did it wouldn't pick anything up. and i assume my roadrunner is set to keep them since my PCs outlook has them all the way back until i set up my account? weird. also, in the messenger tab, i see

"EMAIL1"
"EMAIL2"
email 1 and 2 being the two roadrunner accounts that i receive to my phone..should they be set up right inside outlook? maybe that's part of the problem?
fredde, i dont often activesync because my PC no longer recognizes my handheld, i need to sync via my laptop but i do it rarely since i dont use it all the time. like once a week maybe i sync. but the emails disappear more frequently than that. i will sync up and see if i can see that option.

No outlook on the device is reserved for the outlook accounts on your PC. That mailbox will fill up as you sync it up with activesync. But only when you do that. You want the 2 email accounts below that you said you have. Those if setup properly should connect to the pop servers the same as outlook would on a pc. Like the poster said above make sure in advanced account settings that you have it set to keep all mail on device.

well i've made some headway - i learned that the emails disappear from my handheld as soon as I mark them as read (open them) on my PC...so now where would the setting be to have them stay on my handheld until deleted from there?? its like the hard copy never gets created on the phone they just stay on the server??
I changed it to keep all, however the weird thing is that the two accounts I have on my phone are the same two set up in my Outlook on my PC - so one would think it would work with either the phone settings or the activesync to keep them in the phone!? so confusing.
what i really want is the two email accounts on my phone (same as PC) to get new mail, and if i don't delete it, in a day or so have them go into the outlook on my phone so that they will be stored the same way Outlook on your PC stores email. By date, so that you can search them quickly etc. I dont know why it wouldn't do that.

Yes I'm using it since yesterday and it's working great.

ditto here, working quite nicely. Although is there a way to sync with two exchange servers at the same time? (that I don't have to pay for an extra service for). I would really like if I could connect with my works exchange server and my personal gmail one at the same time, but without having to go through the hassle of buying a service and paying monthly fees for the push service.
Any ideas?

I'm having problems with this..
tried setting it up a few times but wouldnt sync. finally only sync'd when i connection to my wifi at home. As soon as i disconnect the wifi, the sync doesnt work anymore. wondering if its a t-mobile issue. cant seem to find any settings for activesync to use 3g instead of wifi. had it setup using imap with no problems what so ever. Anyone else have this issue?

i am new about the push mail feature :
What i believed was(need to be confirmed or denied ;-):
With the gmail push, i wouldnt have anymore to
press a send/receive button in order to check my Gmail emails.
Each time i receive a mail on that account, i would be
informed nearly in realtime on my topaz, like with sms.
So i configured my gmail account like in:

(else wasnt working for me)
My topaz was connected via activsynch
so a kind of folder synchro occured
With a "Gmail" folder
and (translated from french) subfolders:
inbox/"sendbox"/drafts/"shifting"/sent/deleted/personal/professionnal/received
But then no mails appeared in them, so had to go to
parameters/"email configuration" to set again my gmail account
(strange to have to do it twice)
And so a "Gmail" subfolder(to Gmail folder) appeared
with new sub-subfolders :
drafts/bin/sent messages/spam/"followed"/"all messages"
and then my previous Gmail's emails appeared
Last i went to parameters/communication/Microsoft direct Push
to set it "on"
I tried for a test to sent a mail to my gmail account
but 45mn later still no notification of a new mail in my Gmail box
(ps: in the accounts settings, window where you have["sms/mms"; "email outlook";"Gmail"; "new account" with tabs "accounts"/message/adresse/storage]), my gmail account is set to 15mn in "send/receive planification")
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from 3g: no newmail
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from usb connection my pc:
i got the new mail
The only interest in the push feature i saw was to save battery (topaz doesnt have to send/receive each 15mn automatically)
and be informed quickly when you have a new mail.

I've noticed that I can't receive any attachments with my mail. This is even after I have changed the email settings to receive all attachments in activesync and email account options.

Hotmail Won't Automatically Send/Receive, But Other Email Accounts Will

Hey all,
I'm hoping someone out there will be able to answer this one relatively quickly. I'm running the Elegancia ROM and use the email application which is cooked into that rom - I believe it is the standard for most HD2 roms.
I have access to two of my email accounts through the program: Hotmail and Yahoo! I set up my Yahoo account quite ordinarily, by going through Add New Account and then banging in my login details. Sweet. Using this setup method, I was able to select the Send/Receive Every Five Minutes option before finishing the setup wizard. All is gravy there. The emails come like clockwork.
To get the Hotmail account to work, however, I had to install Windows LIVE for Windows Mobile. While I did this, and am able to access my Hotmail emails using this email program, the emails do not come automatically - I am forced to manually open the program and push "Send/Receive" before any come down the pipeline. For the life of me, I can't find any way to just turn on some kind of Send/Receive automation like with the Yahoo account. The "normal" way of doing this (Menu - Account Settings - and then select the email account you want to fiddle with) is a no go: the Hotmail and Outlook accounts are both greyed out, and thus not available for modification in this way.
If anyone knows how to switch this particular function I need on, please weigh in. Thanks in advance.

got a solution for you, mate.
Go to Start>E-mail>pick your email account>click menu>Tools>options>Tap on account to change setting> then change it there

really appreciate your suggestion. i think i found the windows live sync options using your guidance. no new emails yet, but i should know if it worked soon. thanks a mill for weighing in.was a seriously annoying issue.

[Q] Native email application does not respect global auto-sync setting

So, something I haven't found a good answer after several Internet searches.
I have set up a corporate email account to Exchange ActiveSync server of my company. The sync settings under this account is set to send an email to me as soon as it arrives to my company email (push sync).
Okay so, my actual question is that, should global 'auto-sync data' setting also disable this native email client push synchronization?
Because it does not, for me. It's so annoying to receive and read work emails on my work laptop, and moment later notice and dismiss all this also on my Nexus.
Bonus question for pros: is this actually something that Exchange server can enforse / affect as, after all, it has set itself as my phone device administrator?
I'm on CM10.1 by the way.

A lot of views resulted in no information, it means this shall drown into depths of the Internet as another dead end.
Guess I'll disable Email sync manually in-app when ever I don't want it to sync.
