Searching for someone who have dismantled his niki - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

Hi I have recently let my niki fall while the sliding sreen was opened. Since then I have noticed that the screen part of the phone move a little when the phone is closed. It's really unpleasant when you hold it closed in your hand because it's always moving and doesn't give you the initial sensation of rigidity...
I think I have bend the rail that the screen part usually follow and I wonder if there is an easy way to dismantle the two parts of the phone to rebend the rail properly.
We can see two cross-shaped screw behind the screen when the phone is opened I don't know what it holds so I'm asking for a handyman who have already dismantle his phone or had this kind of trouble and can tell me if the sliding rail is easily reachable and not too difficult to put the two part together again
(I have a bad experience in dismantleling electronic device and I know that it's often easy to dismantle but when you put it together again It's worth than before...)
Thank you for your help

why not send it to HTC assistance? the device is probably in its warranty and you don't need to worry about it

I have bought it on ebay, and althought it was said to be warranted, the warranty seal was tapped...
That's why I'm asking for your help :S

ow :s that's a problem :| sorry, I have no idea on how to help you

...

how to disassemble o2 atom xda

I somehow managed to get water in my screen so now the tapping function doesnt work. I dont know what else to do. I am currently in Beijing and bought it second hand so I'm not sure if the warranty is still in place and if so how abouts to get it to a retailer. The only thing I want to do now is try to open it up and see if I can try to clean up the moisture and water since its still there. I tried opening it but there are only two screws at the bottom back side of the unit that are available to me to get to. I'm not sure how to go about and disassembling the whole thing. The pda is really important to me since I use it as a chinese dictionary. I dont know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Bye

Firstly, you can check if it is still under warranty by registering it on O2 website, you will need the original receipt to claim warranty (and moisture damage is not covered by warranty). Secondly, if you want to fix it yourself and I dare say its too late as the battery would need to be removed immediately as moisture enters the device, even if you manage to get an LCD (roughly US$250)and you're able to fit it there's a posibility the main board and components are damaged too. However, I have repaired to some degree with many tedious hours of careful cleaning with pure Ethanol. My advice to you is send it to O2 for repair and do not put the battery into device!
can you tell me how to take it apart? everything seems to be working fine, just that certain areas on the screen i can't tap. I know there are two screws at the bottom back side of the unit where it says void. But other than that I dont know what else to do to get the unit open.

How to disasseble your Trinity

Dear friends,
My offer to the forum, a step by step guide on how to safely disassemble your precious Trinity. You might ask of course, why should I do that on a very expensive electronics device? Well I personally had to do it in order to remount the phone in a white casing because my black had peeled off after two months of ownership and I did not want to send the phone to HTC. Also because it was really fun.
My best regards to you all.

What a great tutorial !!!
Thx a lot, it is the best one.
GREAT!
Thank you very much for this very helpfull guide!
Good !
Hi !
Thanks for this great guide !
Very good work !
Concerning the tutorial that I have written any questions are welcome !
Regards !
Great
Thanks for the tutorial
Great tutorial! Thanks! I actually just had my Infrared window pop into the phone on me today (half way at least). I want to try to get it back to normal again w/o sending my phone to HTC. Apparently they have a swap program, so who knows what kind of condition the phone you receive will be in.
Where did you get the original white housing? I might be interested in switching that also since it will be half-way apart already.
Dimanto,
what a super guide. The photos and layout are really good.
Now available in [pdf]
Dear friends,
I have converted the "How to disassemble Trinity" guide in [pdf] and is now posted in xda-developers. I think that this format is more proper because the file size has reduced a lot. You can find the rapidshare link or the attachment in the first message of this post.

Hello, great guide, only one question, when detaching the cable from the motherboard for the LCD screen you commented it was a little more difficult and to pull up the black lever. Can you elaborate on this part and also advise how easy it is to replace and close once the cable is reinstalled. I have a crack in my LCD screen, so probably wont have to go as far as you. Have accidently broken this type of clip prior and want to be careful. Thanks
LCD Panel and Digitiser
Hello dimanto, any thoughts on how the LCD panel and the digitiser fit together prior to me starting on this project. Thanks.

Hello my friend. Actually it is not so difficult to pull up the black lever so you can then easily take out the screen cable. This is rather easy, also to clip it back on. What you have to be careful of is when you unclip the LCD screen cable from the the M/B, then when you pulll out the LCD screen from its postition, do it very carefully because it is very easy to accidentally cut the LCD screen (ribbon). So don't worry about the clip.

Well I do but if you are buying a new LCD screen don't bother about it because the digitizer is already on the new screen. If my reply is not helpfull just tell me what part you are changing exactly. Basically the digitizer is a small glass attached on the LCD screen connected to her via a small ribbon cable. If you need something more just ask.
Regards!
thanks dimanto
but can you please choose tools which you used from this page

This is exactly what happened to me. I broke this little black clip and now my phone is useless. Where did you get another one? I just cannot fix the flat LCD cable anymore to get a proper picture on LCD (now it's either inverted or screwed up or totally missing).

It is actually very easy indeed, especially using Mike's tutorials
THe only slightly difficult bit are in getting the semicircular circuit out and back in when you take the whole thing apart but you dont really need to do this when replacing the screen. Dont be put off by the dissembly instructions which show you how to do this. When you have got the screen off, that it IT.
Lastly as others have commented, re-assembly of the keyboard to the base can be a bit tricky unless you are doing it quicly and remember exactly how it came off. I once broke an L shaped 'foot' which I insist mysteriously isnt shown on the YouTube tuturial.
You can even get the digitiser off the screen relatively easy, though there isnt much point in doing this as it isnt worthwhile getting a screen without a digitiser, nor does the digitiser often break before the screen does. (I DO have a Hermes which has a hole in the digitiser, which nevertheless does still work!)
Can this same flex cable be causing my phone to be constantly opening the phoneprogram?

First of all, Thank You for responding. So using Mike's Tuts, and by reading the required info, I will able to easily replace the lcd screen? Also, what is the required reading for a newbie to replace the lcd? Again, Thank you for your help.

weird graphic issue

hey guys!
i really like you´re forum, it was helping me several times...
now i need you´re help again.
I think you will easily recognize that i have a bad problem with
my hermes - if you look at the attached pics.
The touchscreen is working, the device is booting too and is working nice...
but, uhm, well - i don´t know how to fix the problem shown in the pic.
I´d be really grateful if you can solve my problem.
I don´t know what to do, i just disambled it and cleand everything, i tried an hardreset... the problem´s still there. =(
Regards
We'll see what others think, but looking at picture 3, I'd say your LCD is cracked and the the liquid crystal seeping out a little under te digitizer layer. If I'm correct there is only one practical solution and that is a digitizer LCD combo replacement.
If you replace it be very careful to replace it with the correct one - Hermes had at least three different types and it is essential to get like-for-like.
There is a thread here about the different types.
Mike
One way to check if it's a crack is to place some pressure with your finger along that diagonal line - if you see odd colors moving around in a "liquid" way then it is pretty certainly cracked.
Ouch, i also think that, that is a crack.. Did you drop your device or something.? I think you really need to replace your display..
first of all: thx for the fast responses
i tried what you suggested to check if it´s cracked... unfortunately you´re right
i think a replacement would be too much efford and it also would be too expensive and risky... so i think i gonna buy a new pda... htc of course ;-)
thx to you all

Touch screen not working

Hey guys, I have been so much frustrated about my htc topaz....till now it is working perfectly. Since yesterday all of a sudden touch screen stops working...with ballooning effect on screen ...previously ballooning effect was noticed before 3-4 days, but i did not pay attention on it as touch screen working at that time..
What may be the probable cause is it digitizer or lcd screen gone?
I have uploaded the pictures also..
That's the Chinese Diamond2?
If so I have the same problem with a Chinese phone... There is a part of the screen that's not working fine (like a balloon on the left side of the screen). I have to press really hard and press more to the side than it should be
I've already considered in opening the phone to try to solve the problem.
Does anyone already opened his phone with success? Any pictures available to help the task?
indresh88, sorry to use your topic but I think we both need the same...
I had the same problem, is very usual in this phone. the tecnical changed the screen.

no definately not...it's factory unlocked asian version...also it is t5353 and official stock rom.
by the way how can we differentiate between chinese and factory unlock phone?
have you solve your problem?
Hi, use some standard scotch tape or tesa film. Stick it over the affected area and peel the tape off. This should unstick the digitizer again, it did the job for me quite often...
Cheers

I have the T5388i dual sim.
I'm no expert on those phones, but I think an easy way to know if the phone is HTC or Chinese version is the front camera side (on HTC is on the right and on the replica is on the left)
Other simple way is if it's dual sim than it's not from HTC.
If I'm telling some mistakes please someone correct me.
Concerning the problem... it's not solved

it helped me quite good and temporery, but how to fix it permanently...?
replace the touch screen digitizer.
eBay have many of them...
I have replaced my cracked one last month.
Two fixes for the scotch tape issue
1. Always take along some scotch tape or
2. Replace the digitizer. This can be done faily easily, see some other posts.
Cheers
I've looked at ebay for the digitizer and I've found many... the question is if they work on my phone?
I have a DUAL SIM T5388i, can anyone point me the right digitizer?
I've tried the tape but didn't worked I don't know if I'm doing it right because I've noticed no diference.
Help me!
I also have this problem, It just stopped working. I was calling, 10 minutes later when i took my phone and tried to unlock it, it did nothing, when i connect my phone in windows 7 with mobile center, I installed SOTI pocket controller, to check if it was my screen, and it was because via pocketcontroller it worked good, but how do i have to replace the screen thing, and how does it work with the tape,,
Thanks
i also had the same problem. if im not mistaken it might be due to humidity ...
i might be wrong
is there any way to fix this without replacing digitizer.
by the way i have a TD2 t5353 htc original .
Workign Solution Till Now
Hello Friends,
I have TD2 mobile and today I had same issue. I was thinking it was because of the weather or some.
I remember it did happend several time before, but when I restart the device several time it does work. So I was ignoring.... But today it did not work.. looks like going toward end... So I did soft and hard reset without and that did not helped me.
So I switched off the mobile, "heated" the touch screen gently with my hand for 1 min and started the mobile again and it worked for me .
Not sure if this is a solution, but will work.
May be I will contact Service Center here in Hyderbad and see what is wrong here?
Hope this will help you all...
Thanks.
