Touch Keyboard/Keypad not working correctly - Touch Cruise ROM Development

I own a TC UK version, and I edited the registry as described by jeroen_76 to be able to use the Dutch T9.
Now when I use either the keyboard or the keypad I only get digits, no characters or symbols. Strange thing is, when it is in character mode, it shows the ABC key. If you press this, it switches to digit keys.
What did I do wrong?

I recieve exactly the same behavior after installing the german language on my XDA Orbit II with bepe ROM..... is there a key combination to enable/disable the numbers? On a notebook i would hit the "Function" key ...

Keyboard problem, Russian ROM

I have couple of troubles with my 9100.
1. Virtual keyboard has Cyrillic layout. To write in English I have to tap au virtual key for each letter. I didnt find how to switch to English layout. It's very hard to write this message using virtual keyboard, believe me.
2. I cannot use Terminal Services client because I cannot enter English letters to specify login name and password. I tried to switch layout on sliding keyboard by it enters always Cyrillic. I tried virtual keyboard too but the same result.
I supposed any third party keyboard layout utility will help but I didnt find anything that works fine on 9100. I tried qkeys and Resco keyboard.
Does anyone know something about?
Resco works fine on mine.

Which version?
Had the very same problem.
1. Tap au key twice (fast) and it would switch to english
2. Use any registry editor to change "Keyboard layout" string value in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\ from "00000419" to "00000409". Wait a couple of mins and soft-reset the device. After that ts client will be using english by default.

This is where Resco Keyboard would come in handy
Excuse me, I've found it. It appears near spacebar when shift is pressed.

change keys on keyboard?

Does anybody knows if it posible to change the assinment of the keys on the keyboard?
I would like to change the Windows Startbutton into CTRL, So i can easy use CTRL C and CTRL V.
Do i have to change the keybddr.dll for it?
Not to be a "me 2"er, but I am looking to swap the comma and period. They're on the same key, but I have to use the "Option" button (round dot) to get a comma. Well, when I'm option-locked and typing numbers, I use the period a lot more than when I'm typing letters. I'd like to see a way to simply swap those two functions on that key.
Changing Map
Guys,
I´m from Brazil and in my portuguese keyboard I had an issue with comma an period keys.
I´ve used the AEKMap program to remap my keyboard. On google, type aekmap an the link will come.
Here are the settins i used.

Simple question about wizard keyboard

does an english wizard have the same physical keyboard (letters in the same positions) than an italian or french or german wizard?
Are the keyboards all the same?
thanx
nope.. T-Mobile germany's keyboards are QWERTZ:
http://www.mobilewhack.com/images/T-Mobile-MDA-Vario.jpg
While here's a French AZERTY:
http://www.smartphonefrance.info/img/Qtek9100-05.jpg
well...i need to know the italian and the english...do they match?
as far as letter and number keys go, yes - IT and EN are both:
QWERTYUIOP
ASDFGHJKL
ZXCVBNM
There may be some difference in the other keys, due to the italian language making use of extended letters a lot (thus putting them on the keyboard would be useful for users of it).
Haven't spotted a picture of an IT one yet
if the underlying question is: Can I use an english ROM with an italian device? The answer is : yes. You will find other posts that explain what registry changes will let you map correctly the keyboard. Like in France we use AZERTY keyboards, so making the correct registry changes, we can use our french keyboard and use the A key and get an A instead of a Q
yes but the problem is that in italian qwerty there are buttons for à,è,é,ò,ì,ù ...very used letter in my language...i just wonder if on english qwerty these letters/button ar present and primary.
Its' the same in French! If you have an italian device and if you update correctly the registry you should have all keys functionning as before. I've not tested it yet on my phone (still a french ROM) but I do it on my PC: french keyboard and english OS. I can use all the accented letters like if I were using a French keyboard with a French OS. I don't see why it should be otherwise on the PPC.
i can't explain...sorry!
what I mean is if the letter/button "è" (for instance) is NOT PHISICALLY present/written on the phisycal qwerty english tkeyboard BUT it is present ( and IT IS PRESENT because I use it everyday) on the italian qwerty...this answers to my question
Not quite sure what you are looking for exactly. Anyway, maybe this will help:
go to \HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd
There should be a "Locale" string value. If it's not there create it! and give it the value "0410"
To get the accented letters like e
press e
then the blue dot (left bottom corner)
then the space bar
I hope I'm making sense.Good luck!
:x
He's asking whether the keys are physically there on the slide-out keyboard. I.e. is there a little label / sticker with "è" on it?
There isn't one the English version (you can still get that character by means of the Sym key in combination with the 'e' key).
just to add confusion to this problem.
i have a t mobile MDA and a frien has a O2 mini and the keyboard layout is different on both. the Mini gets the benefit of a '£' sign whilst i have to get the electronic keyboard out for this. i suppose i could do a reg edit, anyone know how???

Keyboard problem with VS2005 and WM6

Hi, I am trying to write a program for Dopod C730. I am using VB.net Compact framework with WM6 standard SDK. However, when I put it to run in the C730, I can't input the characters in the textbox with those keys also represent numbers. For example, the key "E" should also represent number 1 in the keyboard. No matter "text" mode / "numeric" mode, the key "E" always be number 1. In other words, I can't input character "E" in the textbox in any input mode. Does anyone have any idea?
Thank you very much.

No. That's hardware keyboard. It is very weird...... That's a very very basic function and the program is running normal in the emulator. Don't know whether it is the bug in Dopod's rom or build-in .net runtime......
I'm noticing the same exact problem with my Dopod C730 using Windows Live Search. I can use all functions of Windows Live Search (http://wls.live.com), except for typing in a destination since I only get numbers or special characted (up, down, tab, etc.) when hitting the corrosponding letters on the QWERTY keyboard.
Any help on this would be really great!
Thanks,
JonnyWiFi

Problem with Accented Characters in Letter Recognizer

Hi everybody,
On my Orange SPV M700 (a customized version of HTC Trinity) I can’t get the accented characters option to work in the Letter Recognizer. I am studying German and therefore ä, ö, ü are very important to me. Also, the Letter Recognizer is my most favourite mode of character input.
I have checked the option for activating the accented characters under input settings, but it still doesn’t work.
When I enter any accented character it seems like the M700 draws the character but then immediately erases it (when I say immediately, I mean in milliseconds - its barely visible).
I have done a lot of research on the web and found postings from people with the same problem, but no solution.
Thanks for your help.
Same problem here with croatian letters: š, č, ć, ž and đ.
Try the PCM Keyboard found here http://pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php it can be customised to suit your needs it also has many keyboards already set fro many differen languages.
I find it really good.
Thanks, but I have the problem with the Letter Recognizer - the handwriting recognition tool that I like to use most for inputting characters.

Go to www.sunnysoft.cz to download the Interwrite Small application that will certainly help you with š, č, ć, ž. However, I am not sure about the đ. It will give you the keyboard and enable the Letter Recognizer to write the characters.
However, this soft does not solve my problem, because my Letter Recognizer does not want to write the accented characters such as ä, ö, ü that it normally should when the "Allow Accented Characters" option is checked in the Letter Recognizer Options. As I said before, when I use the precribed way, the characters appear for a milisecond and then dissappear.
Problem solved. I installed both Penreader Czech Language Support for Windows Mobile Pocket PC (http://www.penreader.com/pocket-pc/...zech_Download_area_for_Language_Extender.html) as well as Sunnysoft InterWrite Small, version 9.1 CZ (http://www.sunnysoft.cz/software.php?idarticle=257) and now can input all kinds of accented characters - more than I will ever need.
