Question about Email forwarding - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

So I work for a Company and we use email pretty regularly to communicate.
I am a store manager and the company is really **** about letting us set up to recieve emails to our phones. We use Microsoft outlook and it is an intranet bassed email service (I cant email my store or other stores from an outside email, it has to be from a store location). I have tried to creat a rule to have them forwarded but they dont forward.
I figured this is were some of the greatest and able bodies are, anybody have a solution? I'm just trying to get the stores email forwarded to my gmail account so I dont miss stuff on my days off. Anybody have any ideas??

Well if your using outlook at your store, why don't you create a new account in your pocket outlook with your account info. You can find all of it in your settings, then set it to recieve at certain times only.
OR
There is an option to forward an email to an account once recieved. I'm using Outlook '07 so my setup may be a bit different but most outlook versions should have the same options. If you still can't find the rule setup for it just let me know.

Well, there are a few things that come to mind.....
I am a District Manager for a restaurant chain so my first response is to say enjoy our time off
Second, I will probably sound like a jerk but there are reasons that companies limit email access to the physical location of a business, it is much more secure.
Knowing all of that, I personally forward all of my work mail to gmail and use the IMAP access so I do not have to remember if I have checked it or not. I generally get between 30-60 emails a day.
Your email may not be able to be forwarded due to how it is set up. I worked at a place where we did that and the email server we used would not allow an email from the units to be sent to any other domain other than our internal one.
My last thought it that if you are unable to find the email server settings on your own and set your email program on your phone up then you probably should not be messing with it. They are pretty easy to find but you do open your work network up to potential infection of malware or a virus. I know I would get pissed if one of my managers did something like that and caused us to have issues. Beware that they can and do track which IP addresses connect to the email server though.

Believe me, i understand the reason for limiting the location to the stores for email access. I do know that its definately possible because a couple area managers and my DM have it to their phone. I'm honestly not trying to deceitful, and I do enjoy my time off, but I have issues where i dont get important emails so i just wanted to forward them..
I didnt think about setting it up in the phone, i'm going to look into that. Where would i find the settings at in outlook? I know that I using it through my INTRANET and i use outlook through web access, so there isnt a "tools" tab that i can go into to get settings.
I'm going to play around with it.

Well.. some thoughts about the access...
If you you use web access then you know the server address already.
I would start off using the url as the pop3 access.
I'm replying from my phone but I will put up a mini guide later.

Can you create and send a new email to the Gmail account you are trying to forward these messages to? If you cannot then you must first find out if your network is blocking Gmail or if it is a routing issue. If you can successfully send an email to the Gmail account then the problem is merely in the settings of outlook (insert any email client here).
Almost always the outlook application must remain running for the rules to be honored. Creating and managing rules can be tricky. Make sure there are no stop processing rules entries prior to the forward all email rule you created. Also make sure there is not a stop rule in the forwarding rule or any after it will fail as well.

Ok, you said that you use outlook web access to check your email in your location. I would take a look at the url in the address bar. That will most likely be your access point that you will use later.
If you are on an intranet though you might be out of luck.
For example, one company I worked for had things set up like this:
Intranet with everyone having an ip address of 10.10.10.***.
We had an internal DNS server to resolve our intranet based web site and our email server.
Our email server was 10.10.10.101
Our internal web server was 10.10.10.102
Now, for outside access, we had an external IP that was something like 12.225.125.188.
If you only access your email from on the intranet (not INTERNET) then you need to find out the external IP address. You might be able to get it from a higher up but most likely you will be shot down.
Now, for simplicity sake, how about either letting the people at your location check email and call you if something major is going on email wise or just call them a few times each day?
Without the magic numbers (external IP) you won't be able to get access no matter what you try. There is also the remote possibility that the higher ups with access on their phones are using blackberries and the service associated with that or a VPN solution to get on the work intranet.
With out physically looking at the numbers and the set up it would be hard to figure out all of the details so my post is just full of WAG (wild ass guesses).
Just to finish it up, think about this...
Deliberately trying to circumvent your networks protections even accessing email against your companies policies can put you in not only work related trouble but also legal trouble.

emoze.com offering free push email...any tried this yet?

www.emoze.com has just come up with a push email feature for mobiles and pdas.
i just wanted to know if anyone has tried out the service and how is it?
i don't have an outlook exchange server so i can't really set up direct push on my 8125.
I just checked and Emoze does not support the Qtek 9100 yet
try selecting the Tmo MDA.. same thing.. i'm downloading the program now to see if it works..
ok, stay away from it for now, it is in beta, but here's what happened to me..
1. it replicated my contacts about 40 times.. i had to go thru and delete duplicates... ugh..
2. Program on the PC desktop crashes randomly, it crashed 4 times in a 30 minute period..
3. kinda flaky performance.. it works as in the push email function, it notifies you, but then it took 3-4 trys on the PPC to get out of the notification/program and see the actual email in outlook..
give it time and if they perfect it a little, this will be very cool to have..

replicated my contacts also, it states that you cannot have activesync running while this program is running, which is kinda ridiculous...another thing is, it runs OFF of your computer, uses your OUTLOOK, nothing on their end, its just a piece of software...in other words, if your computer is off, no email....useless if you ask me
Ya know, it's a shame the T-Mobile's SMS-based notification feature isn't a bit better tuned. It really works well - just takes to long to notify your phone of a new event.
For anyone who hasn't tried it. When you go to the T-Mobile website, you can put in the info for one or more of your non-T-Mobile email services. You can use POP3 or IMAP4 servers along with your SMTP server, and you specify your email login and password.
After that, you can click on the feature in your MDA that retrieves specs for your email account from T-Mobile's servers, and pocket Outlook will set up an appropriate additional account for you in the MDA. With this all set up, you can, in addition to your normal way of checking your email, check your email account via the T-Mobile website or via your MDA simply by doing a Send/Receive on the MDA in the Messaging app.
The neat part that T-Mobile hasn't quite implemented 100% is that you can have their server monitor your email account for new incoming messages, and in turn send a "silent SMS" to your MDA to let it know when new email has arrived. Then your MDA automatically kicks off a Send/Receive, fetches whatever email is waiting on the server and notifies you.
This works quite well. The ONLY problem is that that it may take way too long for you to be notified that something new is on the server. This could be due to one (or both) of two possibilities:
1) T-Mobile's back-end servers may not be monitoring and checking your email server frequently enough. If it checks for new email every minute, that's great - but if it waits 30 minutes between checks, that's about the best you can hope for when waiting for your MDA to be notified about new incoming mail.
2) Even if T-Mobile's back-end servers "know" that your email provider's servers have new mail for you once a minute, that only helps if the "daemon" (or whatever process they use) sends the "silent SMS" to you immediately. If the "silent SMS" is queued up, and the process to send them out is delayed, or possibly scheduled to happen once every 30 minutes, we have yet another way in which it takes too long for your phone to be notified that new email has arrived.
Whichever delay is causing this, it would be fantastic if T-Mobile could fix it. If they did, this would, functionally, serve the purpose of push email for many of us -- especially for those of us who have unlimited messaging as part of our plan with T-Mobile.
despite the bugs, it worked great, and i'm gonna keep an eye on their progress..
This is basically the program i've been looking for. Something that I can load on my own PC (since it's on 24/7) and have it sync my inboxes on my 8125.. it was nearly instantaneous when it worked on my system..
a note to people that want to try this though...
1. BACKUP YOUR CONTACTS!!!!
2. Make sure ActiveSync is set to not sync anything, and turned off.
3. Then run the program..
I wish it was more stable, and i'd use it all the time, but until then, im sticking with POP updating every 2 minutes..
I can't get it to work on my PC in my office. My company uses a proxy server and the desktop app can't connect to the internet. Any suggestions?

I think they started push service in their "live.web2mail" bbeta but I could be mistaken as I have not tried it. Even if it free it wont be for long as MS has pretty expensive licensing fees per user to use exchange server. I think they have 6 months where they can claim 0 users. The emoze you need your home pc on all the time. For me it would be ok cuz i always keep my pc turned on but for a lot of people i dont think they do that.
Any news on this? Is it working yet? I keep my computer on all the time and was looking at running Exchange Server from it to get Push Email, but maybe I'm better off waiting for this?
I've been using a mail3web live account for a couple of weeks and it works very well. I just had to set up mail forawrding from my own ISP. I'm pretty sure it's not push email but it works fine through active sync on the PPC as long as I remember not to kill the application. You can set it to synch with the sever as often as you like and as I'm a bit worried about getting a large bill and I'm not too wooried about getting everything instantaniously I've set mine to synch with the server every two hours. If I want to check more frequently I just hit send/receive.

There's no tweak. mail2web just upgraded to Exchange SP2, so if you've got a ROM in your wizard that supports push (I'm using the 2.17 custom on my TMO MDA), sign up for a free mail2web account, forward your email there from other accounts, and follow the diretions to set it up on your Wizard, and you will get true push email now.
The only problem I have is that I forward my gmail to my mail2web, and once or twice/day I notice I'm not getting e-mail, sign in to my gmail account and under the forward it says gmail is having trouble forwarding to that account. I push try again, and it starts sending my email again for maybe a day. I think mail2web is either having a problem receiving so much mail (there's been a big buzz about it on xda and howard last few weeks), or else it might be a problem with their spam filters...

But can not succeed in push to mail...my rom is the "test only" one I think it's the one before the official 2.17....Any chance to get it work though?

Okay guys, If you sent me an email I prob did get it! but the odds are that when i replied it got sent to your junkmail (I know yahoo does this) so check there, if you have not recieved anything from me, shoot me an instant message on here, and we can do it that way!
If you have concerns about privacy or hosting information on unknown servers, you should never, ever, ever use the internet again! even google stores the searches you make on some unknown server, and have you ever actually seen a server that host your email ? prob not. But just to reassure all of you skeptics, my server uses 128bit encryption and runs out of Richmond Virginia in a small office building.
As for whats the difference between this and mail2web, well Im assuming that you are using mail2web if you are asking this, so i will just tell you of the additional features:
1) direct push email support
2) sync with outlook web access
3) sync all contacts, events, tasks and email automatically
4) email alias addresses
there is more, but those are the main reasons that i set it up.

No it doesn't support sending e-mail using another e-mail address but I can setup an e-mail forward so that everything that comes in to your exchange e-mail box gets forwarded to your other e-mail account as well as staying in your exchange account.
It does not require VPN to use Outlook on your desktop.
You just have to setup Outlook to connect to the Exchange server using HTTPS. There is a guide here showing what you have to do to setup Outlook properly...

Now I am able to sync all my stuff.
How to setup Direct push on wm5 for getztek
1. Download the root cert and copy to \My Documents\filename.cer
2. Start -> File Explorer -> \My Documents (execute filename.cer)
3. Start -> Setting -> System -> Certificates [root tab] and check for the same.
4. Do a soft reset.
5. Start -> Programs -> ActiveSync -> Menu Configure Server
a. Server address: mail.getztek.com
b. Tick on ssl connection
c. Username: name
d. Password: *******
e. Domain: getztek.com
f. Next -> Finish
g. Sync & Njoy

DeniaL, may I ask what kind of Junk filter setup you use? In particular, does it add a Spam tag to the subject line and can filtering be turned off or otherwise adjusted by the end user? I currently heavily pre-screen my email before forwarding it into my not very good Hosted Exchange account (third one I am on...alas!)
I made a fairly lengthy post re some of the header issues coming out of Exchange accounts which trigger false postives. Won't repeat it all here, but my thoughts can be found at:

I am using Trend Micro's Antivirus/Antispam suite. I'm blanking on the exact name right now but it works very well. It doesn't add the "spam" tag, it just creates a folder in your outlook called "Spam." It moves any suspect e-mail into that folder. I rarely have an issue with false positives. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. How much storage would you need? If you could give me a ballpark, i'll just let you know if that if do-able or not.
Sounds good. But can the end user elect to turn off filtering to the Spam folder within the OWA Options/Rules if desired?
Also, have you seen the problem of legit mail sent from a Pocket PC through Exchange being falsely flagged as Junk when it arrives (unless the other person also uses Exchange)? This is a known and documented issue, but has not been addressed by any Exchange service I have used to date. It is an issue with the headers looking like forged Outlook Spam, plus it having the appearance of bulk mail, even though it's not.
Because of this I only use Exchange to receive forwarded mail for Direct Push. Never to send. I hope that can change some day!
Storage-wise I currently have a commercially hosted Exchange acount with 1GB. I only use part of it, but it does leaves room to archive and grow. So, 500MB to a 1GB would be ideal.

No I have not heard of this issue. I send people e-mail ALL the time EVERY day and have never had e-mail incorrectly flagged as spam. I'm not denying that it is indeed an issue, but I have not experienced it.
Storage-wise I currently have a commercially hosted Exchange acount with 1GB. I only use part of it, but it does leaves room to archive and grow. So, 500MB to a 1GB would be ideal.

pushing gmail onto my phone.

prewarning: i'm a complete microsoft exchange newbie, although i have experience in win2003 management / active directory etc.
here's what i'm trying to do.
basically, push my gmail email onto my phone (running windows mobile 5). i don't want pop access, i want actual PUSH.
how i figure this would work:
- forward my email from gmail to my local win2003 machine, which has exchange 2003 running
- exchange in turn pushes the email onto my phone immediately
- i can reply on my phone and it looks like it came from my gmail address, not from my local domain (i.e. my exchange server address).
so far i'm ok with 1 and 2, all is working golden. BUT i can't reply on my phone - it sends the message fine but shows the from address as my exchange server address.
any idea how to fix this? basically would want to set up some sort of mail relay...
any help would be appreciated! would be glad to provide a few free accounts to people who can help!

If you have Exchange there is a way to setup an alias to accomplish this. PM me if you would like and I can explain in a PM. Basically what it does is it tricks Exchange into thinking it's sending from another e-mail address but basically it just changes the Reply to field so people see it coming from your gmail instead of your exchange account.
Maybe you should try Push Effect ?
took a look at push effect. not quite what i'd like... i odn't want any more running crap on my phone, especially not some alerting service. i want pretty much seamless integration with my outlook on my phone. it can't be hard, i'd rather do it myself for free rather than shell out something or other for licenses or software.
i'm already using emoze (emoze.com) which is good, but adds a silly little signature at the end of emails with some ad. PLUS it has added software running on my pc and phone, which i don't care much for.

They require a donation in order to use alias, but then again, most places will. If he is already running his own exchange server, then he can just use that. Check your PMs chamelion I sent you instructions.

i did actually did do just that a little while ago and it works great (except for sending myself an email).
i have a whole new issue though, i was tryign to implement certificate authentication and now everythings messed up... it just doesn't synch up any more
i'll figure it out, or just reinstall the whole damn thing!
FINALLY got everything working - the aliases and even the SSL authentication which was a pain in the ass. turns out to have been the smallest stupidest mistake i was making, as it usually is!

[Q] Deleted emails on my laptop don't get deleted on my Note 3 - HELP!

I'm using the standard email client (not Gmail) on my note 3...
My issue is that when I delete an email through either my laptop client, or my email's webclient (I use Fastmail.fm), the emails don't delete on my Note 3.
The result is that I can delete a bunch of old messages and spam on my laptop, but they hang around on my phone.
I've used K-9, and it works perfectly, deleting emails on the phone as I delete them on the laptop, but I was hoping to use the stock email client so I could have Galaxy Gear notifications from the email.
Has anyone else seen this issue? Or know how to fix it?

Hi Ben,
Since you are using a stock email client on your notebook, how have you enabled the syncing with your Note 3. When using GMail and other email clients, there's an API within the device which queries the email server requesting new notifications based on what you've triggered your device to query. With a stock email client, this does not always succeed as some ISP's have crippled 3rd party applications from querying their servers.

As I mentioned, I'm not using an ISP. I use fastmail.fm
I have enabled 'syncing' on the phone... or else I wouldn't be getting new mail at all, I suppose...
So, getting new mail is not an issue. The issue is that mail deleted on my laptop is NOT deleted on my phone. So, if I delete 100 spam emails on my laptop, they are still on my phone. Again, only with the standard email client. It works perfectly with K-9.
Sorry if I've misunderstood your response. Can you elaborate what I may be doing wrong?

I started having problems with the stock email app on my note 2 & gave up on it & went over to using K9 so when I got my note 3 I expected problems with it but gave it another chance & it's completely screwed up. It constantly downloads mails I've deleted & shows them as unread & sometimes displays only old mail from about a year ago.. its a total mess... its doing that "your password has changed couldn't connect" thing that it also did on my note 2... I've now deleted all the accounts off it & only use K9.

Based on your initial post, I though there were two issues:
Problems with your Apple Mail syncing with fastmail.fm and vice-versa
Problems with the K-9 application installed on your Android device syncing with fastmail.fm and vice-versa
Sorry for any confusion my post may have caused! This will be the best way to explain things and let me know should you have questions...
K-9 is an email client which you have installed on your Android device. This client has been configured during its initial setup so when you receive new mail, it is delivered to K-9 on your Android device. Syncing has been turned on so what you do with the remote client (K-9) will reflect on the server (fastmail.fm) and vice-versa. There is usually some type of setting triggered where on conflict, the server takes priority.
The above as you've suggested is working correctly but the problem here is with your Apple Mail:
Apple Mail is your client application within OS-X which supports the handling of email. During the configuration of this application, you have entered all your server settings for fastmail.fm so this client (Apple Mail) will query and pull email from the fastmail.fm server either real time, in specific intervals (5 min, 10 min etc...) or simply when you click a "Check Mail" button.
The problem you have is whenever you update Apple Mail, the changes are not reflecting (or syncing) to your device. I do not know much about Apple Mail but your issue would lead me to the conclusion you have disabled this ability within your Apple Mail program. I would double check your settings and make sure you have enabled your Apple Mail program to propagate changes to the server. This will allow changes made to email within your remote client to update server-side and should reflect across all your devices which are configured with the fastmail.fm email account.
The only issue is Apple products are very strict with their security measures so I know the Apple Mail client will download from the server but I'm unsure if it allows a post-back to update the server regarding changes made through the Apple Mail client. I'm sure it's a simple fix within the settings but if not, I'm assuming it has to do with a layer of security being implemented by Apple but not being an Apple user myself, someone else would need to clarify.

Cellrama... I sincerely appreciate your efforts, but perhaps you could confine yourself to just dealing with that issue, as I seem to be having a very tough time explaining the situation to you... There's nothing at all wrong with the laptop, webapp, or K-9. They have all been working as they should for several years now...
My only issue is that I would like to receive email notifications on my Gear.. So, I have to use the default Android email client.
But, as was stated by the other poster, it seems not to work correctly. When iMAP email is deleted, that delete should sync across all clients. With me, it's syncing perfectly with every client except Android Email.
I apologize if my initial post confused you. I'm new to this forum, and I don't seem to be having much luck describing the problem in a way you are able to understand, so again, I apologize.
If anyone else has a solution to the issue, I would greatly appreciate your input.

When you setup your fastmail account, did you set it up as a "POP" account or an "IMAP" account? POP accounts will only pull a copy of the email from the server to your device, but will not push changes made on your device back to the server. IMAP, however, is a two-way email protocol that will push changes made on your phone to the server. It looks like Fastmail supports both POP & IMAP, so I would try following the instructions listed here.

Your initial posts refers to multiple devices and what works/doesn't work. I fully understood your post and was trying to provide you a little background information. I apologize if you took offense but when I ask what stock email client you're using on your notebook and the response received by you is you're unsure what I mean but you use "Apple Mail"... Well that's an email client!
The issue is when using the stock email application provided by Android, when you make changes through your Apple Mail program, this is not syncing to your device or to your Galaxy Gear for that matter. The simple answer is... With your stock Android application, as long as you have enabled IMAP, email should sync effortlessly. This has already been suggested by another member. If it is not working, you will need to check the settings in your Apple Mail client as well as your stock email application within Android. There is most likely something on the server which is blocking your sync. I would even log into fastmail.fm through your web browser and check the settings on their server to ensure everything is set correctly. As for the Galaxy Gear device... Well, I would not buy this as I've heard more bad than good and one review set focus on it's poor ability to sync email.

I think it's more to do with a settings issue server-side (in the settings on fastmail.fm) or through one of your clients which is used to access your email. You rely on a web-based email solution (fastmail.fm) which you access using one of many programs installed on an array of devices. The problem here is when using the stock Android application for mail, any modifications made to mail through your notebook running "Apple Mail" will not propagate across the server and update live on your device using the stock Android mail app. You already have stated every other application and program work but it's just the stock Android mail application.
This would lead me to believe the stock Android mail app does not support fastmail.fm. Many API's developers now use are custom and specific to targeted applications such as an API call to communication with GMail and their array of services. I agree you're issue pertains to the stock Android mail app. Is this an Android problem??? Just as much as it is a fastmail.fm problem. Fastmail.fm is not your most popular email program therefore, developers will not be flocking to purchase custom API's for implementation into their software.
You have answered your own question circuitously! I use the stock email app for GMail and Outlook without problem so the developer has implemented the proper API's to interact with IMAP on these specific servers but I will assume has opted against this for a less popular web-mail server.

There's no assumptions in my email which are wrong but hey... everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you read a bit closer, I agree with what you've stated! Your response mirrors mine in that the Android email app is flawed. Whether this is due to lack of API implementation or forced by other more dominant email providers, that's anyone's guess.
Glad you like your Galaxy Gear. I cannot comment but based on reviews, I would tend to shy away myself but that's great it works for you.

Just want to clarify to make sure we didn't miscommunicate. I wasn't asking if Fastmail is IMAP...i know that it supports both IMAP & POP. My question was did you set it up as an IMAP account on your phone. When adding an email account via the stock email app on the Note 3, after you enter your email address & password and pressing the "manual setup" button you'll be asked if it is a POP account, IMAP account or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account. If your server supports IMAP and you set it up as an IMAP account on the phone, it should work. It's a universal protocol that is supported on both ends. Sorry if I misunderstood your response...just wanted to make sure I was clear.
