Today, how to Browse.. Storage Card

Hi.
I have the Cingular 8525 with Windows Mobile 5.0 with 2gb Sandisk MicroSD. In the Settings/Today/Appearance Tab, when I check on Use this picture as the background and click Browse, it only reads the Main Memory, and not the Extended Rom or Storage Card. How do I make it point to the Storage Card? I have perused through much of the registry so far.
Thanks!
Is this a joke?

No.
I do not see the option to browse for the pictures on the storage card. The camera sees them and saves to it with no problems. Windows Media sees it and loads mp3's from it no problem.
I searched for the terms.. Today Browse Pictures using the search option.
Thanks.
it does read from the card.. however it only reads 1 folder deep i believe.. so if on your card you have \storage card\folder 1\folder 2.. then this will only read the contents in as deep as folder 1.. if you leave your image just on the card and not in a folder then you will be fine

So far, it seems to only see the Main Memory in terms of the two files it sees (2 gifs in the Templates directory) which I can see with either the All Folders or Templates directory option selected.
I does see the My (pictures, documents, etc) folders but I am guessing from the main memory since I moved the contents of those to the Storage Card.
I will move a picture to the My Documents folder on the Storage Card (from the My Pictures subdirectory of that folder) to see if I get those as additional selections.
Evidently, your info regarding the more than 1 folder deal is correct. Thanks.
i couldnt remember if it was 1 or 2 but i just checked and its definitely only 1 folder deep..
Not true - I was just able to set my background using a picture that is 2 folders deep ... \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures. To do so I opened the Pictures & Videos application, navigated to that folder, then opened the pic. Using the Menu button I selected "set as today background ... " no problems.

that is correct, but we were specifically talking about using the function in start>settings>today. The file explorer and Pictures & Video will go as deep as you want
Just tried it, I stand corrected!

Photos in Storage Card Question

All my pictures are in the storage card. How do I make the Photos & Videos folder show the pictures in my storage card? I like how it shows thumbnails of my pictures.
Pic & Vid, top left corner, browse wherever you want.

Thanks but is there to make it as the default folder as soon as you click on Pics & Vids folder? Or do I have to look for the folder in my storage card every time I open Pics & Vids folder?
Bump!

There must be a registry tweak that can do that?
edit to add - I also find it annoying.

Camera Save/Storage Problems
Specifying your own location in registry
HKLM - Software - HTC - Camera - Image - SaveFolder - xyz
where xyz is your folder name, but note this folder will be added as a subfolder of the following (in this case storage card)
auto added path:
/Storage Card/My Documents,
Note that setting a location or name other than the defaults will result in problems viewing pictures via the application, though they can be viewed by locating and opening files individually.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image]
value of "Saveto" = 0 will save images to main memory
value of "Saveto" = 1 will save images to storage card

Question on Saving Files

Hi. I've been meaning this question, but keep forgetting. When you choose to save a file, it asks for the name, location and whether you want it in main memory or the storage card. So here's where my question comes in. Say I want to save a music file to "/My Documents/My Music." When I choose location it only lets me select "My Documents," there's no tree that lets me pick files inside the main folders. Is there some kind of tweak or application that lets you save files to the exact location?
Thanks.

How to move "My Documents"?

Can someone please tell me how to move the folder My Documents to memory card?
If I save a picture from an mms, I can only save it in "Main memory -> My Documents"
I want the phone and all applications only to use My Documents on my memory card.
It's all in the registry! I'd recommend using a standard tool. If I'm not mistaken Advanced config 3.3 has the option - but don't pin me on that one.
No. Advance config doesnt work.
I don't believe you can. You can easily change the registry setting in Advanced Config which I did myself a while back, but things still save to the main memory. It's the same with the camera, you can't get it to save the images to My Pictures, it's either "DCIM" or something else.
Shame really, it would be nice if there was a way that I wasn't aware of.

You do know that in the camera settings you can choose to save in main memory or card?
Just checking
So its the software for MMS thats save files to main memory?
This is really annoying, I'll get a lot of pics from friends. If I only could change the name when saving, I'll could easily cut n paste all images to right folders. But it takes a lot of time to open a pic first, and check wich folder I want it in.
Is there a way to see images as thumbnails in list?
For camera: go to camera
Go to setting then arrow down. On the left there is an icon for camera and video. Click on it then click on save to phone or card. chose save to card.
For MMS/SMS go to option then chose storage. Click on save to storage card

Set Opera download folders

Whenever i try ad download someting from opera I get the option to choose where i want it to be downloaded to, however, if I choose storage card the only options I can pick are none or loads of folders of copilot.
Is there a way to specify which folders opera gives me as options to download to?
opera:config

Yeah, it's basically a very poor replacement for a folder treeview. I don't know what order it's sorted the root folder of the storage card, but it shows the 1st folder and then any subfolders of that, and any of their subfolders etc. etc. etc..
I'm the same as the charliebarter that the CoPilot folder is at the top of my list, so we get a recursive list of CoPilot sub folders, and the list runs out before it can get any further. Even if the dropdown allowed more entries, I certainly wouldn't want it to carry on and list every single folder on the storage card!
It's just crap on the part of the Opera devs. (So is the fact that there's a rather small limit on filename lengths, which includes folders so you'll end up with files called something like "\Storage Card\Folder\Sub Folder\Filena", instead of Filename.)
I don't know if Opera 10 is better in this respect, but I prefer the zooming in Opera 9 so I don't want to upgrade.
New Folder.....
Create a new folder on the root of your storage card & download to that. This is what I do. I have a folder on storage card called 'Apps' & download to that. Hope this helps.

The problem we have is that we don't get the option to save to any folders other than the long list of copilot folders. The list cuts off before getting any further than the many many subfolders of copilot.
I do have other folders in the root of the card. I just can't save to them. I end up saving to the root of the card and then moving files later, but that's just daft.

exactly, the I even have a bing folder before copilot and this isn't shown as an option so I don't think it's a alphabet position thing, I also have to move after downloading
