rotate camera view - Wing, P4350 General

I was wondering if anyone knew how to rotate the camera so when you push the camera button you look through the lens holding the phone as if to make a call. this way you could hold the camera in one hand and possibly take shots by hitting on of the front buttons

I would like to see this as well...
The landscape style camera is ok but uncomfortable...
A portrait style camera would be nice...
CoolCamera is OK =\ but i much prefer the stock camera features (camera and video recorder in one etc.)...
If only you could rotate the stock htc camera into different positions like you can do with CoolCamera...

Changing the camera button for one-handed use

Hey everyone, I just got my 8525 and have been playing around with a few customizations. One of the things that bugs me about the original button layout is that the placement of the camera button makes it nearly impossible to use the camera with only one hand (at least I always feel like I'm going to drop the phone).
So, I got the PTT patch (thanks Slueth255!) to map the camera to that button. However, it looks like any function can only be mapped to one button at a time, so the original button has to be remapped first. It works great in portrait mode, but in landscape, either the button is on the bottom of the phone or the display is upside-down. Is there a way to map two buttons to the same function? Or better yet, is there any way to rotate the camera display? Has anyone else found a better way to use the camera one-handed?
Thanks,
Sar

Trying to work out at what stage your problem is. I turn on TyTn with thumb, move thumb along to camera button and then take picture with central D Pad button.

Thanks for the tip about using the center D-pad button to take a picture, it makes things a little easier. I realized after trying to take a pic that switching the camera function to the PTT button won't work. It will activate the camera program as expected, but once in camera mode, you still have to push the original camera button (or D-pad) to take a shot.
After some more playing around, I found that you can take a pic with the scroll wheel button as well, which makes it easier, but not perfect. You still have to reach for the camera button to switch to camera mode and the scroll wheel is not good for taking pictures as it will change camera modes with a scroll if your press is not dead center.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to take out the phone and snap a quick spur-of-the-moment picture without too much fumbling around. Typically, I hold the phone in my left hand with my index finger near the power button and thumb near the PTT button. Or, in landscape mode, index finger on the PTT button and thumb about halfway between camera and comm button (with the D-pad resting in the palm). Moving all the camera button functionality to the PTT button would really be great. Getting the camera program to run inverted would also be nice, but I could probably learn to live with having all my pics turn out upside-down.

Yes, I see. I just tried it left handed and it is more difficult due to button positions. I also agree about scroll wheel push you have to be spot on with press else you end scrolling to another function.
Hopefully others will have some more tips/tricks.

Can we make the camera app focus automatically?

Hey guys,
as I watched the presentation of the iPhone 3GS, I noticed that the HD camera only focuses when the capture button is pressed, which leads to a pretty long delay in taking the picture.
The iPhone 3GS focuses automatically and immediately takes the picture when the capture is pressed.
Can we somehow modify the HD camera to focus before we press the capture button and then immediately take the picture when the button is pressed? Any ideas?
.
uuh no,
just press the shoot button
nice answer but useless...
Just to put my two bits in, I agree with maati that focus before pressing the capture button would be a huge improvement.

That's not the only way.
You can also just tap the screen if you have touch focus set to "on".
But - granted - it is still not "auto focus".
The camera does auto focus when you first turn it on. It would be nice if it could keep that afterwards too.
Yes, even if you tap the screen to focus, the camera needs to focus again when you press the captue button. I'd like it to take the picture instantly.
I think you are talking about focus lock, so the camera just has to capture image when the shoot button is pressed as it has alrady focused. This would be a huge improvement.

Samsung Vibrant Camera

hey guys i was just wondering if anyone has found the camera to be annoying because you have to be literally holding the camera in front of you to take pictures because theres no dedicated camera button on the phone. i was wondering if its possible or if someone has already created some mod to where they can use lets say the volume up or down button to take the picture. i'd rather sacrifice the zooming feature with the volume rockers because i can zoom in and out right on the screen before i take the picture. thanks to anyone who has any information on this.

S-cover camera landscape

Hello all
I was wondering if it is possible to take landscape camera pictures using the s-cover with the lid closed. When I open the camera app through the s-cover menu the camera screen won't tilt and it appears only to take pictures in portrait mode. Is there any way to remedy this?
Thanks for your time.
