Can we make the camera app focus automatically? - Touch HD General

Hey guys,
as I watched the presentation of the iPhone 3GS, I noticed that the HD camera only focuses when the capture button is pressed, which leads to a pretty long delay in taking the picture.
The iPhone 3GS focuses automatically and immediately takes the picture when the capture is pressed.
Can we somehow modify the HD camera to focus before we press the capture button and then immediately take the picture when the button is pressed? Any ideas?

.
uuh no,
just press the shoot button

nice answer but useless...

Just to put my two bits in, I agree with maati that focus before pressing the capture button would be a huge improvement.

That's not the only way.
You can also just tap the screen if you have touch focus set to "on".
But - granted - it is still not "auto focus".
The camera does auto focus when you first turn it on. It would be nice if it could keep that afterwards too.

Yes, even if you tap the screen to focus, the camera needs to focus again when you press the captue button. I'd like it to take the picture instantly.

I think you are talking about focus lock, so the camera just has to capture image when the shoot button is pressed as it has alrady focused. This would be a huge improvement.

Camera button does not take pictures anymore

Hi guys
I've searched the web and this forum but haven't been able to find anything. I've got the R2AA010 rom installed, and the camera button no longer takes photos.
When I press the camera button the camera application starts up as normal. But to take a picture I have to press the action key now. This is annoying because I can no longer to the half press to make the camera focus.
Is there a way to change the camera button mapping in the camera application back to the camera button?
thanks

I doubt you can make it take a picture with a hardware button. Yes, you can start the camera, but not actually take the shot.
that will activate the camera.
taking pictures, I am not sure but I hope there is something simular to Auto Hot Key.
if there is , then its going to be easy

[Q] i9000 Camera App on Tab?

Hey, does anyone know if the camera app from an i9000 will work on the tab? I really miss being able to tap to set focus AND exposure.
I really would love to have it as well. The ability to tap to set the exposure is brilliant.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
If you press and hold on the 'Take Shot' button on the right of the screen instead of taking the shot immediately it will focus and expose.
Once you have it focused and exposed to how you want it, without taking your finger off the trigger move the camera to where you want it. The focus and exposure is locked whilst you keep your finger pressed. Now all you have to do is align the shot and take your finger off the trigger... job done.
I've done this trick in capturing 'Depth of Field' by simply first finding a close object and press & hold to lock the exposure and focus. I then move the camera to the subject which is in focus and when I take my finger off the trigger the background will be out of focus.
Another tip..... If whilst pressing and holding the shutter button you get the exposure and focus locked but then decide you don't want to take a shot, instead of taking your finger off the trigger which will take the shot all you have to do is keep your finger on the trigger and place another finger or thumb on the screen and then remove your finger from the trigger.
What this action will do is cancel out the trigger activation and no shot is taken.

Unfortunately, on mine that will only lock the focus and the exposure is still all over the map when I re-compose the frame :\

Fast Capture is available on the Arc!

Just realised something pressing down the camera key and home button together when the screen is off activates the camera similar to the Xperia S saving you even more time then having to slide the camera key. Pressing the camera key on its own doesn't, but good to see Sony gave it to arc users
thought I'd share
Does it work on the beta too? I can't try it because my current ROM has camera button for wake enabled...
Via Tapatalk 2.0 on ICS
Fast capture is shooting photo in "blind mode" and you're just turning on camera ; d but still good though.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that this existed
You don't need to press both buttons together. Just press the home button first to wake device and then press the camera key.

Yes I know, but its quicker to do that then press them separately in two stages and is less like the fast capture on the XS then
I didn't knew that!
Thanks!

[Q] Use power button as camera shutter?

Yesterday I went into a pool and tried to take pictures from my S5, but it was very difficult to activate the shutter under the water.
Does anyone know if there is a MOD to use the power button as the camera shutter or have any other ideas of how to take photos under water?
Thanks

In the settings of the camera you can set the volume keys to take a pic or rec video or zoom.
The default is take pic.
So just use the volume keys. works great

I own a Galaxy Music, and it would be great to use its music button as camera shutter too... is there any post o help you can give me???... thanks
It would be best if some dev can mod the stock s5 camera.apk so that when you press the power button it would take a picture instead of locking the device. No one locks their phone while they're in the camera app, because they're gonna take pics so the power button is the perfect button for such a mod Please someone make this mod!
