Probably because of an incompatibility with the new TouchFlo interface, HTC has disabled manual switching to landscape mode on the Jade. This in itself is already a disadvantage. It is particularly bad for Opera because the very useful landscape option is now also absent from its context menu. The good news is: There is an easy way out: Just unlock the registry and change
"HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation\HideOrientationUI" from "1" to "0"
and you can rotate to your hearts delight. The respective button is now available in "Settings - Screen" - and the option is also available in Opera's context menu! Note, however, that whenever you go back to TouchFlo's today screen it will rotate back to vertical. If you want to run a program in landscape it is thus best to first start the program and then use the start button access "Settings - Screen". In Opera, however, this is not necessary.
Thanks for this Information!
hi there,
thanks for this new hack- you can also set a shortcut for orientation with sktools which you then can start from the launcher
cheers
Landscape Mode and writing messages
Hi everybody,
i tried this setting for landscape mode and it is working well.
But only thing i noticed. If i want to try a message in landscape mode, the keyboard is not displayed correctly - some letters are missing.
Does anybody have the same issue?
thx
simon
It's weird that landscape mode exists in Opera 8.65 without that hack in registry, but in Opera 9 does not Any ideas?
I say that because this mode is very useful for internet browsing, not so in other applications.
I have the same problem with the keyboard in landscape mode, maybe this can be resolved by installing another on screen keyboard?

hi, you first need a registry editor. i use phm regedit, but if u search you'll find also other program that do the same. install it on jade, run and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation\ (tapping the "+" on the left of the voice, and finally tapping "rotation"), you'll find 4 voices, tap on HideOrientationUI, and set on "value data" = "0" instead of "1". tap ok, exit the program, softreset et voilĂ ! now you can find the button on settings\system\display.

Thanks for your answer IL_mante, its works perfect for my HTC VIVA.
Also use:
"HKLM\System\GDI\ClearTypeSettings\OffOnRotation" from "1" to "0"
to keep your text looking pretty.

Click on the little triangle on the bottom center of the screen next to the keyboard icon and select the standard keyboard.
my phone's screen always in vertical mode. but when i want to use horizontal screen to type sms, i will use QuickMenu to change screen from H-V. simple and no registry tweak at all. it is alright for me even though the screen will revert back to horizontal mode when it goes back to home screen.
Hi Guys,

After enabling rotation in the registry, you can also assign long-press of left hardware button to rotate the screen...
Just go to Start>Settings>Personal>Buttons... Just select <Rotate Screen> from the choices for Button 1...
hi i enabled landscape in registry, assigned to long press green button, works well to this point. problem is that when in landscape, keyboard doesnt show up... htc one, nor FingerKeyboard i installed...
when in portrait, kezboard shows up, i switch to landscape and it's gone...
htc's full qwerty keyboard wasn't showing landscape from the beginning, always portrait only...
another problem, when i switch to lanscape when in TotalCommander, screen reverts back to portrait immediately... just like in manila.
any suggestions?
is there any portrait fullscreen keyboard?
EDIT: problem solved. after uninstalling FingerKeyboard from Storage, everything works ok... seems that system tools is better to keep in main memory

reinstating Opera Mobile as a default browser
Tested and works as a charm
COPYASTE from http://discuss.pocketnow.com/showthread.php?t=25285
"You can actually reinstate Opera Mobile as the default browser (PIE would have been made the default browser if you had installed another browser such as Skyfire or Iris, and uninstalled them subsequently).
Launch Opera Mobile manually via Start Menu > Programs. In the address bar, enter "opera:config" and go to the page. The "Preferences Editor" page will be shown. Scroll down until you see "Install". Tap on it to expand the section. Enable the tickbox for "Browser First Time Launch", then tap "Save".
You have now reinstated Opera Mobile as the default browser.
Regards,
Joon Suan"
Ahhh Now I understand!!! Use Opera Always=Default
I've have been frustrated that Opera only appeared when I used the TF3d Browser interface but if I clicked on a link in email it would launch PIE (worthless in current interation -IMHO)... now using this tip when I click on a link in email it uses Opera -- Life is now good and I can die a happy man!
I am not quite sure what i did but now the tf3d internet globe button doesnt take me to opera. I checked and it is still in my programs and it works, but also now it does not let me use the circular pad to zoom in and out. Anyone know what i might have done?
did you uninstall 9.5 to replace it with opera 9.7?
If so:
1. 9.7 puts its shortcut in a different location. not the default location TF3D needs it to be (so your internet shortcut stops working)
2. 9.7 currently doesn't work with zoom wheel unless you apply some regedits (and even then its buggy)
otherwise if your using 9.5 still try reinstalling the cab
Anyone have a .cab for the IE with the zoom slider? I thought I had it on another ROM I flashed but when I switched to my current ROM the IE version does not have zoom sliding. Double tapping to zoom works but sometimes I need to zoom in closer. Thanks.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think you need a separate IE cab. Try using the Advanced Config tweak:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4892668&postcount=22
In fact I think IE may be configured by default with the Advanced Configuration Tool.
I installed Opera 10 beta 2, and had some font problems.
So, I'd uninstall it - since then, the default browser changed to IE instead Opera 9.7.
How can I change the default browser to Opera again?
start opera, type in the address bar: opera:config (without http or www). There you'll find an option to make opera your default browser again (scroll down the list and somewhere you will find this option).
I'd tried that but I can't change from Opera config the default internet web browser.
I want to slide to the Internet tab and then tap Launch Browser and open Opera. Now when i do this ( slide to the Internet tab and then tap Launch Browser) IE is open instead of Opera.
How can I change it back - tap Launch Browser and open Opera? ???

When you have WinMo 6.5, do the following:
start - scroll down untill you find the icon which says Opera Browser - click it and it will open Opera, then perform as stated in my first answer. After you have done that you should be able to go to internettab and tap browser and Opera will be launched.
I did exactly your instruction :
opera:config
User Prefs
Default Browser First run - Mark v
save
exit
It doesn't work. Tap Launch - get IE ...
Another way:
Opera
Setting
Advanced
Set Opera default browser - mark v
exit
And again, Tap Launch - get IE ...
So, I think something is worng because Uninstalling Opera 10 Beta 2.
Some registery things can help to change it (realy) back? ???
did you perform a soft reset after the changes? If not, give it a try, normally this solution should work.
hi
You just need to check in opera option that It's the default browser.
after when You launch internet, You will have opera instead of IE
i try and it works

i find the registry key :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\ DEFBROWSER
if You need more details, just ask
I had the exact same problem. I fixed it by going into Opera then unticking the default box saving then exiting Opera and opening it back up and ticking the box again.
