OK I'm not exactly a n00b when it comes to this kind of thing but I'm at a complete loss about what's going on with my 8525. Att's network in my area went down mon. and apparently not come back (so they tell me) but I have a hard time believing that.
That is not the issue however. the main problem is that when I go into connection settings nothing is displayed......at all. I go into connections it goes through the inspection then displays nothing.....that doesn't look good, but what's worse is that I go into the advance tab then select "select Networks" (was just playing around with stuff being bored)and both the drop down boxes are empty they are supposed to have stuff like "media-net" or "internet, work" but they both have nothing. I CAN DEAL WITH THAT. what I can't deal with is when I select "NEW" or "Edit" nothing happens.....nothing at all...Now THAT scares me. I need to know what to do
I guess it doesn't matter now. I just figured now would be a good time to unlock my phone and try out wm6.1 currently installing Shadow's 2.1 ROM

Wow...the 8125 really drives me nuts alot of the time...
I work in a hospital where there are alot of places where you lose signal quickly, which can be expected. However what is not expected is when I come back after being in a no signal area to an area where I would normally have full signal strength...and all I get is that damned antenae symbol with "..." after it like it's searching for a bloody signal.
This just makes me irate as I can stand outside for SEVERAL minutes (often having to restart the phone before it will understand that there's now a signal) before it will just randomly pop up saying that I not have full reception.
I'm using the latest official 2.25 rom and I don't really feel like changing again (this is about the 6th rom in 4 weeks and it has been a problem with EVERY rom I've used). Is there a program out there that will tell my moronic 8125, "Hey there dip$hit! There actualy IS a signal here so look for the damn thing RIGHT NOW!" It would be nice to have a button I could stick on SPB Today Screen and just hit whenever it was "searching" to make it ACTUALLY SEARCH...b/c the signal is there.
Any help here?
I have a T-Mo MDA and the solution I've read here is to change to manual network selection and choose Cingular. That should speed up re-acquiring the signal.
Thanks for the advice...but...ermm...I can't find that setting...
I thought it was in Settings->Phone->Network. But in the official 2.25 rom, all I see there is "Current Network: Cingular" and a "Find Networks" button underneath it that just reconnects to Cingular whenever tapped.
Any direction?
Thanks.

I have the same problem with the length of time it takes to get a sign back. I actually posted a few days ago and have not gotten a response. I will keep an eye on this thread but if you get a PM with a solution or figure something out can you please drop me a line.
Thanks
I really wish someone would figure out a way around cingular blocking us from manually selecting networks!!
This is a problem all over the place!
Hello guys,
I am very annoyed with my device the last two days. For some reason the signal goes away and I can be hours without getting any.
I have not installed or modified anything on the device the past two days, even thoughI now recall changing the name of the USB, from the tweaking tool HTweakC2.0. Neither I had any accidents like dropping the device or anything.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how I can fix it?
If you have 3g, its more likely a network problem. Try switching it down to GSM from auto and see if that works.
If so, try switching back to 3g in a few days or in a different location,
And how do I do that my friend? Because I tried the way I thought I would, from phone settings but I couldn't see where you specify not to use 3G.
Thanks
Did you do this:
Start\Settings\Phone\Band
GSM/UMTS band drop down menu
Select one of the 2 GSM options. (UMTS is the 3G setting)

This sounds like an either network issue or a settings issue.
Now, I am assuming, since you did not mention that your phone did in fact work but not the data. Correct?
If that is the case, please, please follow what Ach2 recommended. If not then go back to your manual or check the wiki for instructions.
If you had no reception whatsoever. Then either the radio is off, or something that you did is turning it off. Have you checked if the phone tried to make a connection? That would be the antenna icon with either an exclamation mark or a three dots. Or do you just get an "X" with an exclamation mark along side that.
If you had no access to anything unless you rebooted it is still probably your phone, but what has your carrier said when you called them? Any problems?
Well, my phone was working just fine, but then something happened and no signal. (I didn't drop it or anything.. out of the blue that happened).
I hadn't tried that 3G thing, because I was actually looking for something named 3G, so I will try it if that problem persists (I did a hard reset and it seems that it's okay now).
And it must be the device, because I tried my Nokia 7610 and it had signal on that.
I hope I won't have to try it and the hard reset worked, but if it happens to me again, I will try it.
Thank you all!
doesnt get signal again.. searching and searching..
Edit:
Signal full: can't call or someone to call me!
The whole thing is ****ed up. Before i guess that it said that it had full signal but it didn't because it acted just like it would if it didn't. Now it's just searching and searching for network without finding any.
How could that happen, and how can i fix it. thanks.
try a hard reset to see if that solves it.. if that doesnt work try a complete provider rom.. if that doesnt work then you could try just flashing a new radio.. if none of those suggestions work then maybe take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755 and do some heavy reading.. and alas, if that doesnt work then your device is probably toast...
Thank you. I have tried the hard reset but no it didn't work. As for the others, i prefer to take it back and ask for the guarantee since i have guarantee for two years. thanks anyway.
Alright. But keep in mind that you never gave us any specifics really. Made it hard to try to troubleshoot.
If you can get it replaced then go right ahead. It might be easier.
Ok so i have a xv6800 that i flashed to sprint and then to DCD 3.0.1, didnt let the sprint customizer run, and had no Data and got the same error some others got about this (PBP: 11, #777 no password)
After a few hours with tech support, we did find a solution however
The problem was (at least for my phone) i had a still active data connection going from before i originally flashed (not that they knew that, to them i just "hard reset", which is also true )
Basically it is an undetectable error that if you arent looking for it, you wont find it
The good news is, there may be a way to avoid this problem (and the A-Key problem as well) Simply put the plane into flight mode BEFORE FLASHING OILPROF, and continuing from there
I set my phone back to stock, got all the data and connections going alright, then put it into flight mode (effectivally disconnecting my data) and flashed it (Unlock, Sprint, DCD, in that order) and the phone retained the A-Key AND i had no more data woes.
I reverted back to stock and re-locked in twice more to make sure this wasn't an isolated insident, and each time i put it into flight mode and THEN flashed it and didnt lose any data
Now it is possible that this is a coincidence, but you can be the judge of that, all i know is it works
For those of you with this data problem already, causually mention (after you have given them a chance to "work out the problem") that you had trouble with the internet and had to hardreset the phone while online and that might have cuased the connection to stay open.
If they seem a little..... suspicious of that answer (my tech guy did lol) just say, "But then again i dont know how your network works, ive just had that happen with various programs before"
That line works well
And remeber.... being nice and laughing with the guy on the other side of the phone goes a long way in getting the problem fixed and making them relax
Because if they guess that you flashed a custom rom, they will write in the records where they can ALWAYS pull it up again
Hope this helps someone, and DCD great rom man, mabye next release can included the radio, lol

Good advice for almost anything in life when dealing with people.
Well, i just flashed my phone with the latest energy rom and decided to try the Wifi-monster out. II was worried before because it warned me if i used it, it would wipe my current wifi settings out, which i didnt really care for.
Anyway, i searched for my network, and found it. Its hidden but it still saw it, which is kinda scary really, i thought that the fact it was hidden meant it Couldnt be found, kinda lame it still can be.. but anyway i digress..
I entered the SSID and all that jazzz... Problem is it cannot connect, and i think i know why. I didnt use proper caps in the SSID..
Here is the issue. I cannot remove the settings. I dont see any way intuitivly that i can, within wifi monster, clear the bad info and try again, it seems to hold those settings like a vice, i havent seen a delete button or anythign of the sort, it just continues to try and fail at connecting to my network.
Question: How the $%^& do i delete a network?
[edit] Ok. I managed to find a way to do it.. Not easly, but it works.
I went into the program folder and renamed (effectively deleting) the 'networks.dat' file. Which pretty much made it forget all the networks it found. it did the trick
For the past 3-5 days I've had a problem in that there's a delay in sending/recieving texts! I've checked this by texting another phone I have. I sent a message about 6pm, and still not come through! Yesterday there was about a 12hour delay!
Could something in the setting have changed? Would changing ROM help?
I've yet to ring Virgin Mobile, but I know that when/if I do, they'll just say they don't support the phone! That's the only response I ever get from them!
I loved the phone for the first couple of weeks of owning it (got it around Feb this year), but TBH, I've spent the last 6 or so months hating it!
I had this problem, I think I flashed to an updated rom from my provider and that fixed it, but I've flashed to another rom now and I think the problem has come back, check your start menu for a get settings option from who ever your phone is with, it might just be an o2 icon I dunno, but try that and chose get settings.
Then take a look in wireless controls under settings and then click phone and check that all the settings are correct, official settings should be on providers website. Then check settings/all settings and go through all the options and check that any phone related settings are right.
Also try flashing a new radio, that also might help.
Edit - And if none of the above work try phoning or taking your phone into the provider and see if they can fix all the settings and if that doesn't work ask for a new phone
