here are two files to configure blackberry for microsoft exchange and lotus notes including pdf file with instructions
tried to set this up before and drew a blank big time entered the info as it requested pin and imei but it kept saying i was a registerd user ,spoke to a decent bloke at 02 got to speak to him 2mora see if blackberry can reset my account even thou ive never used it strange anyone manage to get an account set up at www.o2email.co.uk .....
Pen6uin, where did you find the PIN to enable registration.?
The Pin
Can be found once you open up the blackberry software and go to settings, make surfe you click 'enable' and 'start', it will then be below the IMEI. I must add that O2 told me quite emphatically that this service will not be available until Jan. 2005.
blackberry service
For what its worth; I called O2 this morning as was told the Blackberry service was due to be available from 1 Nov, but there is a small delay.
The lady I spoke to went away and checked with the "data team" and told me it should be available in the next couple of weeks....
(Surprisingly; she was aware that the new rom release for XDA II included blackberry software; usually the call centre staff seem to be the last to know such things)
Was playing around with the Blackberry software installed the in 1.72 ROM but don't think i can use it as i'm not subscribed with O2 UK
What about Wallaby ?
Any hint whether this BlackBarre application can be installed in anyway on an XDA 1 ?
I lifted the HTC_PocketPC_1.2.4.19_O2_England.cab
from 1.72.181 extended rom from hobbit http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12526&highlight=blackberry
and tried to install in on a Qtek9090 (xdaIII, pda2k)
Everthing installs OK but when I am to connect to the device from the PC it claims that the "Services are not correctly configured"
I have checked for configuration files and settings in the registry but at a quick glance it seems that the configuration is hardcoded in some dll.
I have BlackBerry Enterprise in Sweden (Vodafone as carrier)
I wont give up yet but if anyone else succeds please write a few lines!
Best regards!
ok after a conversation with a rather upto date call center bod he has told me to call customer services and (get this he called me back lol ) they need to activate blackberry on my account and then try again apparently he said most off the setup is to be done on the handset so he will keep an eye on my account and then call me again (i feel honoured )when i have it activated to tell me the set up.what a nice man

Let us know when he gets back to you.
Have you got the logon to the site yet?
Did you have to ask for APN 57 (blackberry.net) from CS?
ok my quest continues ......
after speaking to cs this morning they put me onto data support who again are very knoledgable think there has been some training going on at 02 ,anyways he checks my account again and the usuall 'O' let me see if i can do it from here still no joy,he calls cs and does mention apn bydandie
he then transfers me to cs to give security details for the gzillianth time lol to activate it and says it should be activated within the next 24 hrs ...... so we shall see i will give an update asap
my surgestion is to mention the apn switch on for blackberry when calling cs to avoid the data support call .
Im getting the same issue about IMEI already being defined, and requested to log in with existing userid (which I havent set up).
Id also like to use my exisiting work VODAFONE SIM, which is GPRS enabled to our corporate BES (but Blackberry service removed) - will this work? (XDA is unlocked).
Finally anyone know if there's a true Vodafone/QTEK 2020 ROM upgrade - we've got these as work as well.
Blackberry Working!!!
Ignore my last posts - Ive now successfully got the XDA working on our corporate BES.
Was really a case of just following the instructions in the docs above, ensuring Blackberry enabled account (couresty Voda) being used.
No sweat.
Probably still some things to sort out for web based service though.

Hi. Great news!!! What is the actual cab file putting the BB functionality on the device? I would like to avoid installing the whole new ROM if at all possible. Has anyone tried installing just the BB? Thanks
Today I had time to test the BlackBerry client (look at my post above) HTC_PocketPC_1.2.4.19_O2_England.cab on a Qtek 2020.
And I got it working without any trouble
However, installed it on a 1.66 device and after a while the Bb client disconnected from gprs and I had to connect it again.
I connected it against a Blackberry enterprise server and, could successfully send & recieve mails and make address lookup to the GAL.
It also recieved the IT policy but I dont know what policy settings it applied
When I tried the same package on my Qtek 9090 it was very sluggish and never connected, so the client abviously works very close with the radio stack!? If anyone has better results than me please let me know
Best regards
Thanks for the guidance. Got the cab. Now, here's the golden question. What does BB enabled account mean? If I have GRPS connectivity is that not enough? I am guessing in order to control pricing packages there may be certain ports used by BB that the carrier blocks and then when you pay the fees for BB enabled account they simply enable them. Is this the case? Thanks for your clarification.

Does this cab file install other applications other than the BB client? Coz I dont want to install any other app except the BB client on my XDAII since its an Asian ROM 1.66.
I worked my way through the guide doc for Exchange all the way up to :
6. Tap the Synchronization tab.
7. Select the Enable Wireless Synchronization check box.
This checkbox is grayed out on my device. Were you able to select this checkbox? Thanks

Hi,
Maybe I am beating a dead horse but could somebody please help me with these questions about BBConect.
Device: T-Mobile MDA with ROM version 2.26.x
Questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
Also if somebody could give a step-by-step install guide (all pdfs I downloaded are not in English), that will really help out.
Thanks in advance.
Before answering, I can tell you that rom 2.26 and the current BB connect client do not work. You will have to use a different rom. For me, based on postings on teh forum, qtek 2.17 and cingular radio 2.25 work well.
Now to your questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
replacement for bberry service and device. if your company has a BES server, you can now use your MDA to get corpoarte email. (I do not believe it works with blackberry internet service)
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
designated folder
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
yes
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
yes. BBerry will use a different connection. My MDA deals pretty well with switching from one connection to teh other (automatically)
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
if you have the right ROM, pretty easy. see the other posts on teh forum. But you can't6 use rom 2.26 yet.
Thanks for the answers.
I guess I will wait for T-Mobile to update the ROM.
I am not against running other ROMs, it is just that I have bricked couple of devices and wasted too much time to get the data back.

Is there any option to have blackberry and MSN Messenger simultaneusly connected?
not really: they use different GPRS access point.
I know this thread is dead for some time, but I would like to get ne1fl0w5 wave here.
I have a Qtek 9100 from Claro (Telmex Brazilian sub). It was running 2.22.17.1 PTB ROM and 2.46.11 radio rom. First tried all BBConnect clients available (they were many). All installed but would halt at "Not connected" after first provisioning of the device and connection through GPRS/EDGE. After duly CIDunlocking the Qtek at imei-check (mine is a G4, I forgot to mention), I took a deep breath and decided to give it Vodafone's ROM a shoot.
I followed these instructions and managed to make it work.
Now, to your questions:
Questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
First of all, I have to say that I find (or thought, at first) BB email services excelent, but the devices really bad. Those little keys are small even for my 9-month old baby. Besides that, that trackwheel will certainly cause repetitive stress injuries. I used for less than a day and my arm started aking (please, don't say I am fragile) In addition, it was not made for lefties such as me. And the 8700g does not have an efficient cursor (for instance, if you are to delete a letter in the beggining of a line (or two words before the cursor), you would have to delete everything and retype the text.
For those reasons, I prefer the Qtek...
As per the system itself, I have to say that emails are delivered really fast to each of them. In Blackberry connect, the calendar items are also syncronized correctly as well. However, it did not sync my contacts (and it is probably not meant to), as opposed to the Blackberry device, in which both were available.
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
Designated folder. You can chose which server folders you want sync'd as well.
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
Yes. However, BBConnect uses a dedicated GPRS connection and it will compete with Outlook for the radio. You will probably have issues if you are looking for concurrent exchange push functionality.
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
Whenever you connect to do anything else, your BB connection will be lost.
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
It was hard to install all Roms required to make it work, but once you have this part finished, it is very easy to get things going.
Also if somebody could give a step-by-step install guide (all pdfs I downloaded are not in English), that will really help out.
The post above gives you all the directions (except for creating the blackberry.net connection, which is not necessary).
Sorry for the lenghty (and completely out of time) post, but I would like to share this with you.
Also, I would like to say that I was not very impressed with the way things eventually got working. first thing I noticed was that the reconciliation with the server was not complete. For instance, read messages did not display as such at my server, only at the device. In addition, the BB service uses lots of storage and memory.
In the end, I prefered my Qtek 2.22 rom (much faster to load) and much better loking style. Because of all this, I have just reverted to Qtek's rom and decided to go with email redirection to an external exchange sp2 account. Although we have that in the office, they have high security standards (but forgot to prevent email redirections).

BB Connect on WM6
Blackberry is running smoothly in Universal with WM6 Rom all thanks to c0rnholio. He figured out a way to change the string that will work through decoding>changing>encoding and flashing and finally a small aku registry change.
I was wondering if same thing can be done with wizard.
Here is how-to from c0rnholio
I managed quite easy to get BB Connect running (for company email via BES).
I had the 2.24 (Mr Clean) OS ROM, 2.24 Bootloaders and 2.25.11 Congular Radio. I knew that would not support BB.
I took the OS and ExtROM from the QTek 2.17 package, changed the pagepool to 8MB (BB was said to be a memory consumer), repacked them to a new nk.nbf (with only OS and ExtROM), upgraded, installed BB Connect 2.1.2.31 (downloaded from the Vodafone.de website) and voila!
By just following the Blackberry Connect tutorial (also downloaded from vodafone.de) I had it going.
Good to know:
-I did this exercise after I received my Blackberry device from my employer (I was happy with the functionality, not with the device). So I was sure that the BB functionality was Ok for my company email account.
-When I generated the key for my PDA PIN the Blackberry device was no longer functional (I can think of reasons why).
-I did not have to use the SIM I have in the Blackberry device, in my PDA I am still using my Voice SIM (which also has a data plan)
Hi
I'm also working on getting BBconnect to work with the newer roms. I managed to get it to work with the latest Tmobile rom 2.26. But Crossbow still no luck.
I looked at the solution for changing the strings, but unfortunatly the strings mentioned are not in the crossbow rom...so can't change them (I guess they're different?).
I have contacted Faria; he seems to have a way to tweak the system so that it will work. He's currently on holiday but as soon as I have some info I'll post it here.
Did you try to get it to work on the latest aku3.3 rom?
now works
I've got it now working on all roms...including Crossbow. There is a detailled explanation in the developing forum that shows how to change the rom for BBconnect to work.
Is there an easy way to do this?
I am not a complete newbie, but I am certainly no expert in hex editing, so I was wondering if there is an wasy way to make it work on other Wizard ROMs, including the Brazilian provider I am hooked with.
Currently I am using Tmo's ROM, but there are a lot of features in this ROM I do not use and that take lots of space...
Thanks
Hacking isnt that difficult, it's just that you need to understand how it works.
The thread in Development & Hacking says it all.
I think (just have to dare to flash the hacked os now!) I managed to hack the official AKU3.3 WWE ROM.
My company runs an exchange server for email, and I was wondering if anyknow knows how to connect to them, using the mogul. I went through the setup on the phone, with no success...Are their any additional steps required to connect to the server when you are not on the same network as the server?
Missing Certificate ?
I think you'll have to install the certificate from your Mailserver on the phone to get it working.
Do you get any active-sync error code when you're trying to sync ?
In general you get an error-code in ActiveSync which is telling you what's wrong...
IMHO the best idea would be: aks your IT-Stuff in your company
you need to add a server in active sync with your companys exchange server addy and your username/password
To be clear you need to enter your companies OWA server address. At most small companies this is your Exchange server and at most large companies it is your ISA server.
Example:
You access OWA using https://exchange.mycompany.com/exchange
You enter: exchange.mycompany.com in the activesync settings and you use your username, password and domain to authenticate
You also need to make sure Outlook Mobile Access is enabled on the Exchange Server and on your Exchange Mailbox. You will need to contact your IT Admin to verify these settings.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. I had been trying to hit the mail server directly or via VPN, with no luck, probably due to no certificate. Never thought about OWA. I set this up as indicated in the prior post, and checked 'Tasks' only (just to run a quick test), and it sync'ed fine. I then checked email and calendar, and now it takes me to a company sign-in web page (same page I encounter when using web access to OWA). Weird thing is the page is in the ActiveSync window and does not appear to be rendering correctly or completely (e.g. no 'submit' button). Nonetheless, I sign in and click where the submit button "should be" and the page goes away and it appears to start syncing, only to take me back to the sign-in page again after 15-20 seconds. Any suggestions on how to get past this point? I've tried logging in to OWA from IE, but ActiveSync still brings up this sign-in page. And yes, I've got my userID, pswd, and domain properly set up as well. Thanks.
BTW, my company IT won't help because they only support handheld access for specific company-issued devices.
try using mail.yourcompanymailserver.com/oma
its a lightweight version that handles easy in mobile browsers (only if your IT guys have enabled it)
as for the OP your exchange settings could vary depending on how your admin set it up, ssl (requiring a certificate) or not. to get the certificate from your company you can dl it from the server mail.yourcompanymailserver.com/cersrv
you log in using your mail credentials and you select download certificate chain and select a der 64.
save it to your phone and just install.
chances are though if your company is using a lot of treo's they dont require ssl because you can't install self issued certificates on them (good work palm). so if you want to ask your IT guys their setup and post it here i can try to walk through it with you.
this is my situation and how i got it to work.
Although i tried to internal address of 1x01po2s.domain.name, that didn't work.
I thought about it for a while, and reasoned if i can access my companies exchange server outside the network through a http://mail.domain.name address, then maybe that'll work hahaha
BAM! it did and now it works perfectly fine. Conincidentally, since i started trying to get this going last week, i emailed a few guys i know and the last one who got my email (it was forwarded to try to solve the problem) said that because of security policies, i am not allowed to do this. Ooops!
Here is a quick run down of my settings:
server address: mail.domain.name
ssl is selected (checked)
username: exchange/nt workstation login name
password: user password
domain: network domain (we have different domains)
save password is selected
under advanced you can select whatever options you like
next select e-mail, and any other options you want
and you're done!
I also enabled the push email icon and get my email regularly on my phone throughout the day.
Well, i hope that this helps some of you out.
server address: mail.domain.name

just so folks know there is no standard for this, its whatever subdomain your company decided to put OWA on, for my company its webmail.companywebsite.com
best thing to do would be to ask someone in your company how to access email from outside the office using internet explorer, thats the address your lookign for
Sprint mogul (Titan) WM6.1 Rom update killed exchange server activesync
(Sorry in advance for the long Email) I purchased a Mogul from RS about three weeks ago. For the first week, it worked great! I logged into my company exchange server down loaded and synced email, cal, contacts, tasks ... was very excited. I also got very excited when I started t read threads in this blog .... it seems like there are some pretty smart members maybe someone can help!!
Noticed that there was a new Rom (Sprint TV and improved connection) installed the ROM.
Have spent endless hours with HTC technical support, sprint technical support (not an appropriate name). At times managed to get the email to load but never again Cal, Tasks, contacts. Always able to get sent emails to load (by checking option) . I'm left with a couple of alternatives (any others would be greatly appreciated (actually I really like this phone but I need my email, schedule, etc to work) The error is 0x8503001C there is no exact description about this from MSmobile it seesm to be an awh**** code. Searching on the web provides 1000s of hits unfortunately not just my issue.
o Go to an early Rom WM6.0. So far it seems like to do this I need to unlock the phone then flash the earlier rom?? Since no SIM card I need to hack the registry?? There are several products out there which is best (I do not mind paying for somethng that works well). I down loaded several "Oficial ROm versions ... unfortunately did not write down the number of the one the phone came with.
o Find some way of getting this thing to work well to keep the extra features
o My grace period ends in a week ... cancel with Sprint go to Att but there is not a 3G phone I like ... only Iphone ... it has issues for exchange server??
o I got my wife a Touch at the same time (it runs WM6.1) same issue. Downloaded once my corp email no cal, etc.
o I was told that this Rom was cooked up by MS & Sprint what a disaster
Please, please help ... Thanks in advance

Exchange email and Skype not working after Upgrading Sprint Touch to Wm6.1
The Exchange activesync died at connection and never can sync my company emails after I upgraded Touch to 6.1 Sprint/HTC ROM. Skype also does not work, no sound after first ring, even with 2.2.0.45. I like the GPS and Rev.A speed, and do not want to risk downgrading the ROM. Anybody encounter ssimilar situation?
I so was looking forward to having a comfortable way of managing my hotmail/live mailbox with the switch to HD2 with Winmo and MS Live integration.
However, when attempting to sync my hotmail on the device I get a box saying "Failed to Synchronize the Folder List" followed by another box saying "Failed to Sync".
From there I found nothing to do other than resetting the device. It then works fine for a couple of hours or maybe half a day if lucky until problem re-occurs.
Have tried everything I could think of including re-installing Win Live, changing synch schedules, disabling auto sync all toghether and go manual, empty/remove/reload my hotmail inbox and folder list, trying to find "bad" email items etc.. Nothing helped so far.
Am I the only user with this issue?
My device: HD2 UK, Rom ver 1.43.405.1, OS Ver 5.2.21864, Win Live ver 10.7.0057.0802 (I try to install v10.9 from Marketpllace but end up having this ver number every time)
If you are on T- mobile it maybe like me you have a problem using some service through their proxy server. To remedy go to
settings/menu/connections/manage existing connections/proxy settings tab/remove the tick in the "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"box - OK out of all this and hopefully you should be good to go.
Thanks for the tip. I'm not on T-Mob but will look into proxy being the possible issue.
I'm trying remove Win Live V10.7 completely and replace with v10.9 which seems to be the latest version. Upgrade seems not taking effect on my device though. thinking perhaps this is resolved in Win Live V10.9? Will report back...
Also wondering if Rom v1.48 provides a fix to this. I haven't upgraded yet. any 1.48 users out there experiencing this problem?
My carrier is useless when asked about this and I haven't bothered speaking to HTC yet but may give it a try.
Did you setup manually? This is the only way I can get the connection to my hotmail...
Use pop3.live.com
smtp.live.com
Yea I have tried setting up hotmail as POP3 but you lose some things by doing that such as read/unread is not synced and deleting on both device and server seems not working. I'm still looking for a solution to get Win Live working error free. So far no luck, still trying....
On Tmobile, worked for me!
Glad I found this thread. I am on Tmobile and was stumped when trying to set up my hotmail. Everytime I'd get to step 4 of 5 and it would fail to sync. Then I followed the advice from CAH000 to delete the proxy server and it worked first time! Woo hoo!

I'm having exactly the same problem s Alisha. Nothong works so far. Anyone found another solution to this yet?
having similar issue however the proxy setting is not ticked, i'm on vodafone.
Was working fine until I upgraded to the latest ROM.
Interesting coz I haven't had this since flashing from ROM 1.48UK to 1.66SEA. But only 2nd day so far, need to keep monitoring...

Im also on Vodafone and Ive had issues since marketplace suggested i download WLM 11.1. Since then ive been unable to sync my hotmail accounts. Tried to set it up manually and using WLM. No joy.
Proxy setting isnt ticked either. Its so frustrating!
Unfortunately have to confirm that ROM 1.66 does not fix this issue. The problem is back here. Perhaps radio ver 2.07 makes a difference? Haven't tried yet. Also digging into the registry looking for possible solutions. Getting fed up by all these issues I must admit and it's not small stuff...
Same problem here with the Danish stock 1.66 ROM.
First I thought it was because I installed the new version of Live from wl.windowsmobile.com, but that does not seem to be the problem
Is anyone with this issue running on radio version 2.07?
Same issue with 2.08
The problem happens when you upgrade to new version of WL from Marketplace.. If you have the old WL which came with stock rom or even 1.66. It works fine, but that MSN is old and is not that finger friendly than the newer ones. I just thought this problem would have been solved with the latest one and it isnt, and now i can uninstall and go back to the old one, have to hard reset
same problem
is there possible to uninstall wlm to install an older version ?
Older version of WLM didn't resolve this for me. Still got the issue. From the lack of interest/replies to this thread I guess only a very few users have this issue? It sucks, I'm pretty fed up with this (and a bunch of other issues).
Does Android offer a decent integration with hotmail? Does anyone know how Hotmail swings with Android? I see myself giving up on Winmo although I don't like to admit it...
Hotmail drama
I have tried every thing too, I am living in the Middle east and have the same problem. Please any one a solution.
I have a HTC Fuze on AT&T running the 6.5 Energy Rom. I also had this issue when running stock 6.1.
My work network is configured primarily for Blackberries, as that is what they provide for certain privileged employees. The policy is that that employees may sync their personal devices with the Exchange server, however their is no support provided. Everything was working fine until their security certificate recently expired. I contacted the network guys about this and they assured me that they would be renewing the certificate... eventually. There is no rush for this to happen and it could very well take months.
I am unable to sync my mail or calendar currently, as WM 6+ apparently does not give you the option of ignoring an expired certificate. I DO have the certificate installed, as everything was working fine before.
Does anyone know of a way to disable certificate "validation" on WM 6+? I have tried some of the tweaks and such mentioned for earlier versions, but it appears they are not valid on 6+
thanks
I apologize for bumping this, but I still have not been able to find a solution to this. I have found posts here and there referring to an inability to ignore expired certificates in WM 6 and later. I am hoping this is not the case. Any thoughts?
Bump. I could use a solution as well.
