Hi,
My corporate Sprint account does not include the ability to send text messages, but I could receive them. I tested it and confirmed it with colleagues that have the Mogul as well.
Now, after upgrading to the new ROM, I can now send text messages. I don't have anyone at work that is willing to try the new ROM yet, so I'm not sure if that's it.
Is there a way that the new ROM could enable text messaging when it's not included in my plan?
you can text without a plan you just get chanrged 0.25 per text...

I thought that's how it works, but on our company phones, it receives text messages, but says "Unable to send Text message" when sending.
Now I am able to receive, like before, but now it also sends text messages without an error.
Your boss will be having a talk with you.
the software update help your phone send text. people who didnt get the update or waiting to get it, will lose features on they're phone, like me i lost the ab ility to roam and also sent texts, i got the update and everything works well, only thing i dont like is the fact that it wipes your phone out...

I know OZ Instant Messaging uses Text, but is it all text? Like no data connection needed at all? If so, where can I get it for the XV6800?
If not, are there any AIM clients that use 100% text and no data out there?
ive also been looking for this.. Ive havent found anything.
do you need access to a Buddy List? AOL does free forwarding to your phone through text messages. Your can respond to the text messages as well, but you wont have access to a Buddy List if you want to initiate contact.
but im sure you knew that
***I MEANT TO PUT SMS IN THE TITLE, NOT MMS***
I searched at work and I just searched again when I got home and I can't find anything. The registry edit a few people posted doesn't seem to help me. Unless i'm doing something wrong. You know how you can only type 160 characters in a text message? I want to increase that. I know it's possible and i'm almost positive I seen it before somewhere.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Are you talkin about SMS or MMS?
You can increase the limit of a sms.... But the recipient will receive 2 messages... And you'll pay for both, not only one.....
MMS limit is set about to 1000 characters....
I meant SMS, my bad. Just regular txt messages. So even if I change it on my end to be able to type more, the person receiving it will get 2 messages anyway?

Sure.....
If you write an sms up to 160 character, it will be splitted in 2 messages or more....
Erm. I'm confused now. So there's really no way to make a longer text message then? Anything below 160 will be 1 message and anything over that will be another message? I guess the person receiving the text can only receive so much any way.
there is no way to change the limit on the sms messages... it will get split due to carrier restrictions.. ( Short Messenger Service = short quick messages thats what its intended for )

thats part of the sidekick software, but it still counts as a seperate message on her service, it just reads that way...
tell your friends to upgrade their phones if you want it to show in long messages on their part....
and if you friends wont change, change the friends around you !!!
never had this happen before anyone else ever have it happen

thanks i've been getting this as well. will try this out.
Me too! I will try it out!
Wait, are you supposed to call your HD2 from another phone or just call your voicemail direct from your own HD2?

Thanks for the tip, will try it.
before I installed a custom ROM, I would get a new voicemail icon and a txt from 129 upon every reboot.
after I installed the custom ROM, it stopped.
(129) text message every reboot
I believe this message has to do with Visual Voicemail. When I first got my HD2 and received voicemails, I didn't get this message. A few days later, I tried to activate Visual Voicemail. Couldn't get it to work. After that, everytime someone has left me a voicemail, sometime later I'd get a 129 text message with a time stamp of the same date and time I'd been left a voicemail. The 129 message reappears as long as you have ANY voicemails either in your inbox or even saved. You can clear them out, but the 129 message gets sent again when new voicemails are left.
I'd be willing to bet that the person that flashed a custom ROM didn't have Visual Voicemail in that custom ROM, and that's why, in their case, the problem went away.
no custom roms
running stock 2.13 and haven't used visual voice mail cause it lagged or i read about it lagging. i did accidentally open it and it said i needed a data plan to use it ?! hahah so i didnt work anyway, will try calling my phone i guess.

...No, it's from the T-Mobile USA voicemail system. Everytime I get a voicemail, I get a "hidden" 129 message, which I find only when I go into Message Tab > All Messages. In fact, it usually appears as a message saved on the SIM card, hence it can't be a MyPhone message because a regular MyPhone message would always save to phone memory.
I haven't gotten this to stop, but since I'm a frequent flasher, I guess my results could be different from someone who doesn't flash (I would probably need to do this for each flash). There's actually another supposed "fix" that involves going to my.t-mobile.com and going to some setting in the account that says something like "Don't give me updates for...voicemail, MMS, etc."
Yes, the 129 text message is from T-Mobile Visual Voicemail. To turn the service on/off, you need to contact T-Mobile Customer Service. (meaning, if you DID use it at one time, you need to call them to turn it off in order to get the texts to stop )
I am very new to Android coming from Palm Pre and I purchased Droid Pro and activated it with Page Plus everything seems to work fine except I can't receive or can't send any plain text messages any kind. I haven't been able to receive or send any ever since I got this activated. I have tried everything I could.
I did activation multiple times and still no luck! I am very frustrated at this point and don't know what to do. I really love this phone and it works great including web data, calls but the stupid text messages will not work at all.
As soon as I send a text message I get an instant error message saying text message not sent and it does that for every message. This is just driving me insane since I text more than I talk.
I am getting close to my last resort is the reset this phone to factory which I don't know how to do. My brother uses Droid 2 Global and Fascinate on Page Plus Wireless with no problems. I tried calling multiple sources and no one is willing to help me.
Please help me if you can.
When this happened to me on Verizon, I would have to reboot my phone to get messages to send. I would suggest trying a 3rd party messaging app, such as HandCent, GOSMS or one of the other, reputable ones on the market.
There is a communication error in the Pro with the Verizon servers that will get 'backed up' from time to time and messages will not go through. Motorola is aware of this problem and is supposed to of sent out an update for this to help avoid this problem.
Being on Page Plus, I would hope that it's a similar issue.
Another thing I would suggest is to make sure Wifi is turned off on your phone. The Pro's have a different set of protocols for messaging when Wifi is active.
I hope that this helps you get your phone squared away ^.^
Hello,
I really like my G4 Play (Amazon edition) phone with one exception. I only receive a portion of Concatenated (greater than 160 characters) SMS messages that are sent from T-mobile Iphones to my phone (also on T-mobile). I will get some, but not all. I have used my SIM in other android phones and have another T-mobile SIM in my phone and I get the same issue. From iphones from other carriers I have no problems. From Androids on T-mobile, I also have no problems. I have no problem receiving single SMS messages nor MMS messages. I have contacted T-mobile and they have been no help. I have changed some APN settings, but with no success.
I have also restored my phone to factory settings and have tried Textra also. No changes.
My question: Has anyone had any issues with concatenated SMS messages?
I am thinking about getting a replacement phone, but don't want to if this happens on a replacement phone or if there is a known fix.
Thanks.

I appreciate the response, but I'm not sure I understand your question.
I receive properly all SMS that are < 160 characters.
For SMS messages that are > 160 characters:
1) I will sometimes receive these and sometimes not receive these when they are from an iphone on the T-mobile network (I am also on the T-mobile network)
2) I will receive all of the the >160 SMS if:
a) they are on any other network regardless of the type of phone
b) they are on an android and on the T-mobile network
Did that answer your question?
160+ character text messages are sent as mms. try sending/receiving a picture and see what happens.

MMS messages work just fine. When my wife puts in a subject field, the long messages are turned into a MMS and always get to me.
For long SMS info see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concatenated_SMS

I have worked with T-mobile and Moto with no luck. Moto sent me a new phone (Amazon version of XT1607). I still have the same issue with not receiving long SMS messages (>160 characters) from iphones on T-mobile. These long SMS messages are concatenated SMS messages and are not MMS messages.
I'm sure that there is another Amazon G4 play person who is on Tmobile and has a Tmobile friend who can send them 5 long SMS messages to see how many get through to him/her. Can someone please try this? I have tried other SIM cards in it from my family and the same thing happens. It would be nice to see if someone else has the same issue!
I don't know what I can do but wait for the Nougat release in June. If I had know this would be an issue I wouldn't have bought the Amazon version and I could have installed another ROM.
